Question - TE25 - Win 2000 compatibility No.28851
SuperstarDJ  2002-10-01 10:47:20 ( ID:8aadzeh8w6r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to use TMPGEnc 2.58 on Windows 2000 with limited success. It often crashes after a few minutes of video has been compressed to MPG1 format.

Any ideas..??? Does anyone know of compatibility issues?

I do not have administrative rights on the PC, and am not sure if this is effecting the performance. It used to run fine under previous versions of Windows.... and I used to have an earlier version of TMPGEnc, and upgraded recently.

I am in a bit of a hurry to get some files sent out and need any advice... cheers.!!

Travis  2002-10-01 17:45:35 ( ID:2dgvoenolff )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey, my name is Travis.

Anyway, I have noticed that if I try and do anything in Win2000 that takes up memory Ram the Computer restarts. That includes Games or Video editing. If you have a good enough pc, I suggest keep on doing things in windows and It might be alright. I've had it where I'm playing games and I get a stack dump message. Or the system restarts. Also, I have kept on doing things on the PC that won't take up much Memory ram so that the PC doesn't Restart(somehow). Try surfing the net while it's working on it. Or maybe try a memory clear program. I haven't tried that yet. Let me know if it works.

adv_h67  2002-10-01 18:33:48 ( ID:qelq1kvs20l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I can tell you I have had Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 (now Service Pack 3) and DirectX8.1b, last chipset drivers, and just finished today to encode a long mpeg-1 movie for DVD during 23 hours. Tmpeg 2.58. No problem. Browsing internet sometimes, copying files and answering mail when needed. No hangs.

Minion  2002-10-02 07:16:27 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe if you weren"t Surfing the net abd downloading and running other programs it wouldn"t take you 23 hours to encode, it only takes me 6 maX for 2 hours of full res Mpeg2 ..

adv_h67  2002-10-03 08:19:15 ( ID:nj0i9qykqon )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My comment was about stability. It lasts 23 hours because it is a 4 hours movie from a crappy VHS tape, and the needed filters to clean the movie a bit (SpatialSoften, msharpen from avisynth, scaling and Deinterlace in TmpegEnc for best results) makes the encoding more slow. If I use TmpegEnc noise filters it would last 36 hours, estimated by TmpegEnc. Possibly my occasional browsing during 1 day has slowed down the process 30 minutes or less, but no hangs ;) .
My computer: Athlon XP 1500+, chipset nForce with 512 MB DDR RAM.

adv_h67  2002-10-03 08:35:13 ( ID:nj0i9qykqon )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I realized another detail. I am using my Windows 2000 with full Administrator rights. It could be your problem (some months ago, I had problems with TmpegEnc and user limited rights before).

SuperstarDJ  2002-10-03 10:05:06 ( ID:8aadzeh8w6r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think I read somewhere that you can't have a different version of TMPG put on your machine if you have had a previous one. Does anyone know if that is true?

I just installed the same version on to a colleagues computer and it works just fine..... but that doesn't solve my problem..!!!!

Bug report - TE25 - TMPGEEnc. File Error - not supported video? No.28845
russ2489  2002-10-01 08:05:35 ( ID:ma6n7wfyka2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have this problem when I'm trying to convert. In the box where you pick your audio input and video input you have to then brwose and find your movie. Anyways I can pick my audio fine and it works. But when i try to put my video in there comes up this can not open, or unsuported. So I heard something about Raising the "Direct File Reader" but I can not even find out where i can raise that. Also is there any "Plug Ins" I can download and where could I donwload them.

Thanks

Russ

Minion  2002-10-01 22:53:12 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

"Options" to "Enviromental settings" to "Vfapi plugins" and Raise the "Direct show" to "2"..

Hi Guys

I an new to this so it would save a lot of time if you could help me. In Options/Enviromental I rightclick on the Direct show and raise it to 2. It then places it self on top of that screen. BUT I still get the message can not open or unsuported when i try to open my avs file. Did I miss something on installation or what.

Thanks

Joe

minion  2002-10-03 12:42:18 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When useing AVS file from AVISynth it is probably better to Dis-Able the direct show instead of raiseing it...What works with AVS files and Tmpgenc really well is "Link2 Tool avi wraper" but it is hard to find ...

josef  2002-10-03 14:53:56 ( ID:x.rmf5quc.f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for your fast answer minion

No i am using DVDx where i create the avs file but i still get the damn massege all the time. I have tryed to raise the direct and lower it and disable it. Any tip what to do next..

Question - TE25 - write error occurred during MPEG generation No.28844
Ray  2002-10-01 06:48:00 ( ID:h2qpg8lbfnc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there,

Did one of you guys ever seen this error while writing the MPEG file?

"Write error occurred at address 00487142 of module 'TMPGEnc.exe' with 00229000"

This happened twice to me, after first installing the TMPGEnc-2.58.44.152-Free version. Does anyone recognize this error? I should have had enough resources free (>5G), both on my drive as in RAM (512) . The processor is an Intel P4 1.8Ghz.

I would be obliged for any good suggestions,

Ray

Question - TE25 - Error -537403781 and so on during encoding No.28842
the 108 dragon  2002-10-01 06:22:16 ( ID:djr6tsaxvkw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

During the encoding process i keep on getting small error boxes, saying "Error -53740378 166992" and similar. WHat is this? how can i stop it?

ralf  2002-10-01 11:48:53 ( ID:.l/xw0lubxk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Probably the Audio Data corrupt. Try to encode the audio with VirtualDub and
then use this wav-file in TMPG Enc.

You may first try to clear the box with the audiofile in TMPG Enc. if it works thats the problem.

Question - TE25 - How can i add subtittles from the dvd or the Divx movie to my videoCD ? No.28837
Webdude  2002-10-01 03:28:29 ( ID:hjh8zamrp9c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to make a Super Video CD with subtitles ... how can that be done ?

Minion  2002-10-01 03:53:45 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is a way to do it with "Virtual Dub" but you have to get the V-Dub Subtitle Plugin, then you frameserve the subtitled avi to Tmpgenc,It isn"t a simple job actually it can be Quite difficult if you want it done right, it is especially Tedius if you have to put them in scene by Scene...go to "Vcdhelp.com or to "www.virtualdub.org/ to try to find a way to do it...

ASHY  2002-10-01 20:40:17 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are talking about selectable subs then I would forget it as only a handful of programs can do this. One example is Iauthor, but seeing as most DVD players don't support SVCD subs there is little point. Your best option is to hard encode them into the movie.

ASHY  2002-10-01 20:46:10 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Actually I have done a few hard encoded subtitled movies myself using Virtualdub and wasn't that difficult at all.

There are certain pieces of software you will need to use with Virtualdub to synchronize the subs with the movie.
Most subs for almost any movie can be downloaded from the net and come in various fomats which can be converted to a usuable format for Virtualdub.

ABS  2002-10-01 21:12:09 ( ID:tmdsptwfkem )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I strongly sugests using DVD2SVCD, it does all the things needed for conversion of DVD titles to SVCD.
In the area of subtitles, it has the option of either selectable subtitles (SVCD format and CVD format) or subtitles which are permanent (part of the video).

You can get the program here: http://www.doom9.org/

Use to get the same problem as you stated - but if I select all (CTRL+A) all jobs and hit RUN - everything encoded one after the other.

try it.

HAND, l8r

ffast  2002-10-01 05:29:22 ( ID:bziuu02jpsm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

A. If you have ever done more than 3 or 4 jobs in Batch encoding;
2nd file is something wrong.

B. If you have never succeeded batch encoding;
Your hardware(PC, CPU, RAM, HDD or whole system) is not stable enough to bear/endure the pressure of Batch encoding.

While batch encoding, it should not run any other task. Overclocking is out of question in this case.

Raiseing the "Direct Show file Reader" will probably fix it.."Options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"...

I have a similar problem. I use a Matrox Marvel G200 in Win98SE to capture TV broadcast. I then use TMPGenc to encode to mpeg-1. The last version that can encode the video is 2.2.31.1.

Once the wizards appeared I can't bring up video. I don't get any error messages, and audio works...just no video display.

I tried the modifaction you suggested but it doesn't help.

Any ideas what I need to do to bring video dispaly back in latest version.

Question - TE25 - I forgot to run the Install.bat stuff before I started TMPGenc No.28825
Alex  2002-09-30 22:19:18 ( ID:uhqbc50bzlf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Unfortunately I downloaded first only the program and forgot to download the install file. So I started TMPGenc and run it. It appears the message "30 days trial period has expired".

Also when I downloaded the whole stuff again and installed it properly, the message can not avoided any more.

Any hints ? I am working under WIN XP.
Thanks Alex

Have you Had a Demo Of Tmpgenc before??Cuz it you had another Version Of Tmpgenc previously installed on your system you can not have another one. They make it so you have to Purchase Tmpgenc after you have used the Demo once...

ffast  2002-10-01 02:29:05 ( ID:bziuu02jpsm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Quote from (http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_contact.html).
"Because of MPEG-2 licensing matter, we are not able to provide unlimited MPEG-2 encoding function for free, thus, TMPGEnc (which you can download from this website) has limited MPEG-2 encoding function because it is free."

As far as I know, according to MPEGLA, developper/distributer of MPEG-2 encoding/decoding have to pay if they distribute/sell such software/hardware, this is why TMPGEnc has limited feature.

Alex, you have choice, either buying TMPGEnc Plus, or look for another MPEG-2 encoder (although I do not know which is legal, which is not...).

R  2002-10-01 03:33:48 ( ID:3klufuoi8pw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am not happy with MPEGLA, but I am also not happy with some software / hardware, or people who ignores copyrights and patents.

I am not the person who jugde who is right etc., but I recommend you to buy if you need MPEG-2 encoder.

Question - TE25 - Why does it say "unsupported file" for my .avis? No.28819
Dick Kindig  2002-09-30 20:33:26 ( ID:xlg.xak/2pr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I purchased TMPGEnc 2.8 and I'm using it in a Windows XP box. I have a bunch of .avi files and accompanying .wav files that were created in Speed Razor on an NT4 box using Matrox DigiSuite video cards. The files were saved as .avis at lossless compression.

Please tell me why when I select the files from TMPGEnc, an error states, "file (name) can not open, or is unsupported."???

I am in a huge hurry and need this problem solved!

Some knowledgeable saint could call me toll-free at 1-888-546-3441!!

gbagman37  2002-09-30 21:23:14 ( ID:gfs3fzybyzl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have in installed the vfapi plug-in ? If so you need to change the priority settings for Direct Show
Options>Enviromental Settings>Vfapi Plugins>DirectShow (change the number to a higher one)
This is a built in plug in for TmpegnC, if it does not work try raising the priority on any of the other avi plug-ins.

Dick Kindig  2002-09-30 22:50:14 ( ID:xlg.xak/2pr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks -

I found the spot in the software you mentioned, and the codec you mentioned is set at -1. However, I cannot figure out how to change that. Most of the list is zero, then that one at -1, and another one at -2.

This is so confusing and I MUST get it solved tonight!

Are you talking about the "Vfapi Plugins"??To change the priority you Just "Right Click" on the Plugin and then you can eother raise it lower it or dis-able it...

I've been having the same problem. Have tried changing the priority settings but to no avail. Is it worth going above double figures or has anyone else some other magic up thier sleeves?

Thanks,

what I'm trying to ask, is that how do I put the file infos in the property line.
such as, made by whom and when, stuff like that.
is there any way?
hope to hear from you soon.

Minion  2002-10-01 00:06:00 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There are 2 ways that I know of to insert "Meta Data" into the File, you can do it in Tmpgenc buy going to "System" and check the "Comments" Box, then write in the information into the file, i have never used that way but i"m sure it works. And the other way is after the file is encoded Right click the file ,then go to "Properties" then to either "Id-Tag" or to "Summary" and fill in the Information..To put files on Kazaa and have specific information in the file you have to use Kazaa..

Question - TE25 - encoded movie is juddery No.28812
wez  2002-09-30 18:38:31 ( ID:cts0b298yqw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all !

After many months, Ive managed to get the quality perfect to how I wanted it, I have two small problems still though,

1) Once encoded, the play back seems to be a little juddery, (If you know what I mean), only the video though, the audio is fine.

2) My video souce is camcorder footage, now I use Pinnacle's studio 7 to capture the footage at full res, uncompessed, edit-render to AVI and drag it into TMPGenc, when encoding starts you get like a double vision, two frames in one on the fast movment of the footage, This I belive is interlace lines,

How on earth do I resolve this from being the case on my final product ????

By the way, I have tryed changing the output to non interlace.

Any help will be grrrrrrreat !!!

Thanks
wez

wcpaul  2002-09-30 19:14:45 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This sounds like a field order problem if the "juddering" only occurs on vertical motion. It is easy to fix as long as you don't mind re-encoding. The field order must be set properly in the MPEG Setting/Advanced page.

It defaults to "bottom field first" which is correct for DV source but analog capture is often (always?) "top field first". If you are proficient with avisynth/virtualdub you can seperate the fields and see which order they are in, otherwise just try the other setting.

Field order is probably just a flag in the mpeg file and maybe there is an mpeg header editor that would let you flip the bit. Otherwise you have to reencode.

Don't confuse this with "swapped" field order. Swapping the field order will not fix the problem. That is for fixing fields that are placed incorrectly in a frame.

Minion  2002-09-30 21:38:24 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The way to find out the Correct field order in Tmpgenc is to load your file into the "Wizard" then it will analize the file for the correct field order then adjust it accordingly...But Some times even if you get the field order correct you can still get a "Combing" effect which doesn"t look very good..You can solve this by useing the "De-interlace" filter in the "Advanced settings"...
