Question - TE25 - ERROR MESSAGE: File "xyz.mpg" cannot open or unsupported No.28588
Mr Video  2002-09-25 13:09:09 ( ID:ydx95fl/7sr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ERROR MESSAGE: File "xyz.mpg" cannot open or unsupported
This message occures if I want to load the audio of a functioning 1234.mpeg MPEG2 type file for encoding.
Has someone an idea ?
The same 1234.mpg file worked well with tmpgenc a few weeks ago.

lupy  2002-09-25 14:38:01 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

do u need to encode the audio? if not just encode teh video and demux the audio from the source and mux it with the output mpg...what kind of audio is it? its prob mp2...i'm not so clear on the audio formatts of mpg2...i know there is ac3 and the usual mp2.

Mr Video  2002-09-25 17:25:20 ( ID:ydx95fl/7sr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have tried this already, does generate a bad mpg with desynchronous audio/video.

lupy  2002-09-25 18:34:19 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

try using dbpower amp to convert the mp2 to wav and add the wav

Minion  2002-09-25 21:52:57 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are encodeing a Mpeg file to a Mpeg file you Dont Need to encode the audio cuz it is allready in the correct format for mpeg, just encode the Video then mux the audio to the encoded mpeg file...Tmpgenc does not like to encode Compressed formats like "MP2", wav is the best format to encode to mp2........

Mr Video  2002-09-27 10:49:31 ( ID:ydx95fl/7sr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry all your tips didnot work sufficiently, so I had to solve the problem for myself. For all having the same problem, I tell you how to do !!!

My intention was to create SVCD compatible MPG-files (PAL) from MPEG2 files created with POWER-VCR II (640x480, NTSC, 5000kbp/s)

1. step:
Demultiplex the POWERVCR2.MPG with MPEG-TOOLS from TMPGENC, save the mp2 file, delete the m2v !!!!

2. step:
Use MPEG-Mediator to create an avi file (I tried uncompressed, Hufmann, MPEG4VIII codecs). As input file you have to use the original POWERVCR2.MPG and not the m2v file created after Demultiplexing, because u will run into sync troubles !!

3. step
Encode the avi file with TMPGENC, with settings compatible to SVCD standard, BUT ONLY VIDEO !!

4. Multiplex the resulting SVCD2 compliant *.m2v (from step 3)with the mp2 file generated in step 1.
The resulting MPEG is SVCD compatibel and has no SYNC problems.

That's just a waste of time and quality and is not necessary.
You need and MPEG2 codec to open MPEG2 files with TMPG or load the MPEG2 into DVD2AVI and create a d2v file and then load into TMPG.
The LIGOS codec works, but you need the right one called VOB Filters 1.04 which can be downloaded from here:
http://www.dvd-digest.net/downloads/files/encode/VOB_Filters_104.zip

Much quicker and much simpler than messing about with intermediate AVI's.

Question - TE25 - VIDEOCD conversion No.28585
davide  2002-09-25 13:00:29 ( ID:dff4kxbqx9w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been using TMPGENC several times to convert avi files to VIDEOCD with no problem. Lately, however, I have encountered a few files which give me problems when played back on my DVD player (freezing and similar). They are low res (304x232 or so) black and white avi files, and when showing the average video bitrate with VirtualDub (after encoding with TMPGenc)I get a value lower than the canonical 1150 kbps which I get with the "good" videos. I guess that to obtain the standard 1150 kbps bitrate on files which have originally very low bitrate TMPGenc does some sort of padding, so maybe this could be the problem ?
Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

ASHY  2002-09-25 19:37:38 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I doubt it will be the added padding as this should bring the low bitrate file up to standard VCD bitrate. The source bitrate does not affect the output bitrate and is irrelevant.
Are you actually using the correct VCD resolution or are you using the original source resolution and do these files only have this problem with your DVD player?
If you are encoding using the correct bitrate and mode and have padding enabled then your bitrate should be a constant 1150 kbps no matter what.

ASHY

davide  2002-09-26 07:50:29 ( ID:dff4kxbqx9w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am using the template which comes with TMPGEnc so resolution and all the rest are OK. The problem only arises with my DVD player (PC playback gives no problem) and only with these very low res black and white video clips, which brings me to think that in this case strict VIDEOCD compliance is not accomplished.

Question - TE25 - frameserving won't work?! No.28579
Midimaster  2002-09-25 11:06:25 ( ID:zdvekkj5ftm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I want to frameserver from VirtualDub to TmpgEnc. Accordingly I set (in my humble opinion) everything correct. Even adjusted some of the VpfApi settings, higher priority, on/off, but with no succes. Is there someone who knows what else I can do? I'm desperate...

VirtualDub starts the frameserver, but TmpgEnc still returns the error "cannot open or unsupported format" when trying to open the .vdr file. Also renamed it to .avi but it still gives me the same problem. Even Panasonic does give me the same error...

Please let me know, either in this BBS or via email.

Tnx.

Have you installed avisynth?
Use VFAPIConv., if it is installation ending......

ASHY  2002-09-25 19:41:17 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

AVIsynth??????????

Did you actually install the Virtualdub frameserver client first?
If you don't know what I mean then obviously you haven't.
Consult the Virtualdub help files for info how to install the client first.

What's your problem you pratt?
The I.P's are not even close you wally so what's your point?
As for AVisynth I know how to use it well enough and have been using it for ages now and I'm quite accomplished with it, so don't get cocky clever dick.
I probably know more about encoding than you have english words in your vocabulary and have used this BBS for quite some time.

Just to correct your silly attitude. Th Original question was how to use the Virtualdub frameserver not how to frameserve with AVIsynth.

I found out what is causing most of these read errors and privilege errors that have cropped up lately. It seems that setting the Motion Search Precision to Highest quality causes these errors. The dumb bastard purposely introduced this bug to force people to upgrade to the paid version.Very bad form!

Bug report - TE25 - Privilege Order Error No.28567
Ethan  2002-09-25 02:06:47 ( ID:4rvgyf6w8bf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What on God's Green Earth is a Privilege Order Error and why the heck am I gettin it? I am trying to use the DVD Template to encode a Avi to a DVD compliant MPEG-2.Is it a field order problem? A interlace Problem? Why have I been able to make a ton of VCD files yet when I do MPEG 2 files it pisses on me?

Minion  2002-09-25 08:21:26 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It Could be the file you are encodeing..Try a different file and see if that file will encode to mpeg2...

Ethan  2002-09-25 09:18:29 ( ID:4rvgyf6w8bf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried a different file, about 6 actually.I get the same damned error. The two Codecs I have used for my Avi's are the Microsoft DV and Huffyuv. The DV codec, I can understand, but not Huffyuv.I never used to get these errors when I captured from an Analog source, but now I am capturing with Firewire, and regardless of the codec I convert to before input to TMPG, it crashes with the "Privilege Order error".My AVI's are all at 720x480, 48000Hz stereo, 29.97 FPS.This is understandably driving me insane! I still have no idea what a privilege order error is and how to stop it.

Minion  2002-09-25 21:47:09 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe just Try deleteing Tmpgenc and re-downloading and installing it...?????

Ethan  2002-09-26 10:11:22 ( ID:4rvgyf6w8bf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DAMNIT!! No matter what I try, the damned "Privilege Order Error" won't go away! I saw a suggestion that motion search precision had something to do with it, but that is NOT it.How about some official word from the programmer on what the hell this error is?!?!?!?!? If if is not his error, it some useless "read error" message that doesn't tell me a damned thing about specifically what to do about this crap!

ffast  2002-09-26 10:28:33 ( ID:bziuu02jpsm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well, first of all, please stop using some specific words.
The AVI must be divx AVI, if so, I have some information on this matter,
once you stop using such words, I will write information, maybe tomorrow.

Question - TE25 - no audio No.28564
David  2002-09-25 01:57:13 ( ID:t.3hdcu2dij )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same problem as Suny that I encoded a movie and now have no audio. The Stream Type is grayed out. When I opened file/mpeg it was a little confusing and I set the input files to my movie file and I clicked run, then a message asked if I wanted to overwrite and I said yes(?) then I got an error message that mpeg.mpg. cannot be created.
Any ideas?
Thanks
David

Minion  2002-09-25 08:19:48 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Usually have to extract the audio from your AVI file to a WAV file with Virtual Dub, then use that as your audio source..

lupy  2002-09-25 08:43:28 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

lol....sounds like u r trying to overwrite your input mpg. When u use an mpg as input the default output file name is the same name...ie ending in mpg

Question - TE25 - ERROR No.28562
Tony  2002-09-25 01:40:12 ( ID:haudr1fyank )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey i keep getting that error.. and encoded 2 movies already and it didnt show the error be for. is there anyway just to "BYPASS" the error..and continue anyway...??

Minion  2002-09-25 08:16:32 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What you can do if you are encodeing and it crashes on you, you can use the source range to set it to start encodeing a few frames after were it crashed then use the "Merge & Cut" in the Mpeg tools" and join the 2 parts together..

Request - TE25 - FEATURE - RECOVER AND RESUME OF VIDEO PROJECT No.28560
SARGON  2002-09-25 01:37:36 ( ID:f3txrfnkesn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The added feature of recover and resume of a partly completed video project is a real requirment for a program who's output can take more than a 5 hours to get a result.

More so when the program has either crashed or been accedently closed , after only completing 80% of the movie .

please give concideration to this most valuable feature and perhaps save several restarts of encoding

regards

ffast  2002-09-25 03:51:19 ( ID:bziuu02jpsm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This has been requested several times, however I heard that it is technically difficult judging from MPEG structure.

I am not asking you to stop requesting, but I am just telling what I know about it. You can search the past comment on this matter by typing "resume" at the top
of this BBS and pressing "search".

Question - TE25 - privilege order error No.28558

Hey, I keep getting a privilege order error when i try to make mpegs..
anyone know what this error ir and how i can fix it?
thanks
Sam

Jay  2002-09-25 10:12:55 ( ID:4rvgyf6w8bf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try setting the motion search precision to "Normal".There is a bug which causes the damned program to generate errors with anything higher than that.

Question - TE25 - audio out of sync No.28553
DIVX  2002-09-24 21:10:31 ( ID:afpfwczoozl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi I've downloaded a DivX movie and the audio is out of sync. I've tried to use audiodub, saving the audio to a wav and then spilt it. But the audio is out of sync from the start. Can I use this program to resync it and split it. And do I really need to use audiodub in the future?

This problem normaly is fixed by saving the audio, but not this time, why?

Steven

Minion  2002-09-24 22:37:07 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Mean "Virtual Dub" Right???? the reason that the audio goes out of sync sometimes after extracting the audio to a Wav file is that the audio in the Divx file started before or after the video starts, so it is out of sync, this is among the Many problems with useing downloaded files to make VCD/SVCD"s...You can use "Mpeg2VCR" to sync the file up, the Multiplexor has a function to sync up unsynced audio......

DIVX  2002-09-24 23:20:37 ( ID:afpfwczoozl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes thats the program I meant. I reports Audio being out of sync by 16127 ms. so I dump it as a WAV then load the wave and split it into 2 parts. But it still is out of sync. I have a few movies that I have held for a long time for the same reason.

They seem to be CBR types.

Steven

Minion  2002-09-25 08:10:33 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What you can Try to do is before you extract the audio from the AVI edit about 5-10 seconds off the Beginning of the AVI file, then extract the Audio from the Edited avi file and encode the Editided AVI file..This way you edit out the part at the beginning of the avi file were the audio delay was..I use this method with Mpeg files that I capture off the Capture card cuz they have the same problem with the audio delay at the beginning of the file...

ASHY  2002-09-25 20:47:44 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just correct it with Virtualdubs audio delay feature which you will find under Audio>interleaving>audio skew correction.
A positive value adds a delay and a negative value decreases it. Every 1000ms is one second.
Once corrected just split and encode as normal.

ASHY

Question - TE25 - Error when encoding AVI to MPEG-1 No.28551
Chris  2002-09-24 20:41:15 ( ID:dyqrzd3/g12 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It worked when I first installed TPMGEnc 2.58 but something has changed, I get a pop up page on startup saying that my MPEG-2 encoder trial period has expired but I only want to decode to standard vcd not svcd so if I understand right I only need mpeg-1. The encoder starts but after the first minute I get
ERROR "error -537403781 197904" just as another person has also got but he also has got no answers,
Anyone else know about this

Minion  2002-09-24 22:32:10 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you got the file off the Internet the problem most likely will be that the file has corrupted sectors in it...You can try to frame serve the file with Virtual Dub...of try to make a Copy of the file with Virtual Dub and encode that...
