Bug report - TE25 - .rm --> .avi --> .mpg, no video! No.24747
Imagine  2002-07-11 20:03:59 ( ID:rpypmt/ilf2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I used EO video to convert real media files into .avi files, then I tried to convert them to .mpg using TMPGEnc. The problem is, there is no video when it's converting, only sound. Why is it that this happens? It's probably not TMPGEnc's problem, but I've posted around and nobody has been able to help me, so if anybody could, I'd really appreciate it.

Question - TE25 - Can I encode an MPEG2 Transport Stream No.24743
Scott  2002-07-11 19:20:26 ( ID:tdez5yla/xk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there any way to encode an MPEG-2 transport stream with TMPEnc Plus. I am trying to encode some video content for our VOD system.

Thanks

Minion  2002-07-12 02:37:50 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, but I think you have to re-packetize it into a program stream, "mpeg2vcr" has an option to do this....

ASHY  2002-07-12 13:25:49 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No I don't think TMPG is able to produce transport streams, but as Minion says you could use MPEG2VCR to convert the program stream to a transport stream using it's stream converter or you could just use MPEG2VCR to multiplex to a transport stream.
There are also various other softwares able to do this, another is MPEGcarver.

Griff  2002-07-14 13:51:25 ( ID:hrx7erbzyah )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There are two versions of MPEG2VCR. the downloadable version only handles mpeg1's. The $600 version handles mpeg2's. It will most certainly convert between program and transpiort streams though.

Bug report - TE25 - 2.56 no video or short video No.24736
orion940  2002-07-11 11:23:26 ( ID:v7bqrbmebyh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ever since I put 2.56 on, I have having problems converting avi's and mpgs.

1) On most mpegs, the # of frames is a very big number and the estimated time to convert is a very big number; OR
2) No video at all; OR
3) When converting uncompressed AVI's, after about 35% or so, it all goes black.

glaze  2002-07-11 16:47:40 ( ID:0ogqkpkleem )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have same result as orion940. I am trying to re-encode MPEG-2 in format for VCD on 1 minute source clip. Frames to go is 600000000, and hours to go is 6000, approximately. 2.51 version performed this fine! Still trying to solve for why-

Question - TE25 - Tim No.24734

Eh, are you able to change the settings when compressing video in Tmpg Enc
They are blocked from being changed

Minion  2002-07-11 07:54:21 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To unlock the settings you have to load the "unlock.mcf" template in the "Extra" folder, when you load the template all your settings will become unlocked so before encodeing make sure everything is the way you want it cuz the settings have a habbit of changeing after you load the template....

Question - TE25 - Nero to re-encode TMPGEnc encoded files...???? No.24725
Maximum Risk  2002-07-11 04:26:10 ( ID:.d1t0dul21c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I just download a sample MPEG-1 movie from this site....just to test how it looks like when burn onto VCD. I wonder why NERO need to re-encode the MPEG-1 file stating that "the stream is invalid for making (super)video-cd". For your information, I'm burn it with Nero 5.5.8.2 with assistance from Nero wizard for making VCD.

Minion  2002-07-11 05:27:00 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The problem is probably that the file is a "mpeg1" file not a "vcd" file, Why use a downloaded sample clip? The best thing to do is to download the program and encode your own clips and burn them to vcd ......

Hi, I'm newbie and i have the same question, I encode my avi to mpg, but when i try to burn it with the nero assistance for vcd it says it needs to encode the file because "the stream is invalid for making (super)video-cd" (and of course taking another few hours). What can I do? rename the mpg to vcd or what? or maybe just dont use the nero's assitance for vcd and burn the mpg as an iso?

Thanks Minion...

hlpy  2002-07-12 00:15:51 ( ID:ohyzrcioygo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi! What's your mpeg1 format? If it's not strictly compliance with VCD format, nero will react as what you decribed.

Minion  2002-07-12 02:43:22 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When "nero" gives you the error message it will also tell you "why" the file wasn"t compliant with vcd standards, if you load a template the settings will be set so your file won"t get that error in nero...

Maximum Risk  2002-07-12 02:48:24 ( ID:.d1t0dul21c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is the MPEG-1 format used in my case:

PAL(352x288)
25.000 fps
huffyuv 2.1.1 compressor
aspect ratio 4:3 625(pal)
1150 kbit/s

audio:
MPEG-1 Layer II
sampling frequency: 44100 Hz(stereo)
192 kbit/s (changed to 224 kbit/s also produced the same problem)

The specs you posted sound like a compatible Pal mpeg1/vcd file accept that you wrote in "huffyuv compressor" so are those the stats of your avi file or your mpeg1 file? cuz "huffyuv" is an "avi codec", I hope you aren"t outputting to the "huffyuv" codec? cuz then you would be encodeing to avi not mpeg1 and then "nero" would for sure re-encode the file, but if that was a "typo" then the only thing that might work is to take your "mpeg1" file and run it through the "merge and cut" with the "mpeg1/vcd" setting in the dropdown menue, this will put a vcd header on the file just in case you encoded the file to mpeg1 not mpeg1/vcd....

Question - TE25 - mpeg trial period expired No.24718
NV  2002-07-10 23:47:30 ( ID:p4bakfomxpk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

since the trial period for version 2.54 expired I get for all following versions - 2.54a, 2.55, 2.56 - with the start the message "mpeg 2 trial period expired". I use it with Windows 2000 and Windows 98SE.

Has anybody an idea ?

Thank you Nils

POP  2002-07-11 02:36:31 ( ID:u/fa4zjqppn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

> "mpeg 2 trial period expired"

This is just what it says. You can not use MPEG-2 encoding feature for free
any more. You need to buy TMPGEnc Plus if you want unlimited MPEG-2 encoding
feature.

At contact page, it says :
"Because of MPEG-2 licensing matter, we are not able to provide unlimited
MPEG-2 encoding function for free, thus, the free version of TMPGEnc (which
you can download from this website) has limited MPEG-2 encoding function."

If a software has MPEG-2 encoding or decoding feature, the author or distributer
needs to pay licensing fee once they distribute/sell the software to the public.

Try tmpgplus

NV  2002-07-19 20:09:45 ( ID:p4bakfomxpk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

may be my question was not in correct phrasing. I know that there is only a limited test time for mpeg-2 for the free versions.
In the past I installed a new free version and it continuoes to encoding for the next trial period. But since the trial period of version 2.53 finished the version 2.54 said from beginning (the first day) that the trial period expired. So I installed version 2.55. This version said it too. And so on.
Or does it means that since (free) version 2.54 there is no more trial period ?

Thank you

ASHY  2002-07-20 11:17:45 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yep, you got it in one buddy. You won't be able to use the trial now until the next upgrade version comes out.

Go buy this program, it's worth it as it's obvious you use it a lot.

Question - TE25 - bbmepg problem No.24713
Didi  2002-07-10 19:15:59 ( ID:bduf2unj0c2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i¡m here again with some new problems.

first, tmpgenc won¡t open a mp2 file for multiplexing with a m1v file. i can¡t find an explanation.

sencond, i¡ve tried to multiplex these two files with bbmpeg, the process goes everything ok, but when i play the mpg final file there is no sound. i find these strange because i¡ve followed every step of the every existing guide. i wonder if it¡s a windowsXP problem.

well, i need some advise here,

thanks,

didi.

Minion  2002-07-10 20:49:18 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you listened to the mp2 audio file to see if the audio is there?sometime tmpgenc encodes a blank audio file so you might have to re-encode just the audio then try muxing the new audio with the video, there are other muxers you can try also "mpeg2vcr" has one and there is a free one called "xmuxer"....

Didi  2002-07-10 23:42:57 ( ID:.bvzcyhoz9j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i¡m grateful for your concern in answering my question.

about the mp2 file, it¡s ok, it was originally a mpeg video/audio file, i demuxed it with tmpegnc then used it in soundforge to fix a problem(saved it as a wav file) and finally encoded it again to mp2 using besweet v1.4 b12. is it possible to multiplex a m1v with a mp2 file?, the thing is that tmpgenc allows to open the original mp2 file, the one that i¡ve demuxed with this program, but not the one i¡ve encoded with besweet. what do you think?.

i¡ve been searching for a free download of those programs you recomend, but they¡re all demo versions. the mpeg2vcr don¡t allow any saves, for the xmuxer i went to dvdDigest but the links aren¡t working and i couldn¡t get it through other websites.

can you help me?

thanks,

didi.

ASHY  2002-07-11 00:18:52 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is obviously a problem with the mp2 file you have created with besweet. If TMPG won't open it then it is corrupt.
Why did you use besweet anyway? TMPG is perfectly capable of encoding wav files to mp2.
Just load the wav into TMPG as the audio source then click 'Audio only' as the stream type and encode.

ASHY

Didi  2002-07-11 04:44:18 ( ID:85vucjk7/mj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ok.

i can¡t explain how much i owe you, the two of you, for what you did for me. minion thank you very very much, and ashy, you were right i did what said and tmpgenc worked good.

thanks, and hope i won¡t bother you again,

really thank you,

didi.

Question - TE25 - bad audio when converting No.24710
felicio  2002-07-10 19:13:50 ( ID:ag3y80mc2wn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
when i encode avi to mpeg2 the picture is ok, but the audio is really bad, some kind of a noise.
I´ve tried many tmpgenc version but they worked all the same.
Could anyone help me on that problem?
Thanks

Minion  2002-07-10 20:46:46 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The audio encoder in tmpgenc isn"t very good but you can use external audio encoders with tmpgenc in the "external tools" a good audio encoder to use is "toolame" or "SCMPX" you can find them on any search engine....

felicio  2002-07-11 15:37:23 ( ID:ag3y80mc2wn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you Minion for your help.
I´ll try both suggestions.
