floating point invalid operation at 0x0ca45de1, real sweet app here, seems like the bugs are rampent here with the newest version.

sherlock  2002-04-07 21:16:40 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

the floating point error has to do with your "movie file" not the program, and if you knew how to use the program you wouldn"t get errors.........

LynyrdSky  2002-04-07 22:00:15 ( ID:b3nivuo.p0f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have used the program for some time now and if you are here to help, then offer the help along with the critsism please.

and you didn"t ask a question you did a "BUG REPORT" with a bit of your own critisism,"nice app here" quote......

LynyrdSky  2002-04-08 12:01:59 ( ID:b3nivuo.p0f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If the app was not at fault it would not give me a bug report. If it was the movie file it would not play in media player, it would not play in winDVD. It plays and opens in everything but this. This app also refuses to open any mpg file correctly leaving out the audio if I am lucky to open the mpg at all.

Question - TE25 - AVI -> MPEG2 -> DivX ? No.18323
Fred  2002-04-07 19:32:20 ( ID:rjjjqtkcdig )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

I have tried to convert an avi file to DivX with quite poor quality. It seems to be better to convert the avi-file to MPEG2 first, and then convert this to DivX. Can anyone confirm this? And if it is better, why? Which tools are best to use when convert to DivX (FLASKMpeg)?

If i compare the quality/size from TMPGEnc¡s AVI->MPEG1 with the AVI->DivX 3.** i don¡t see any better quality in the DivX (standard VCD 2.0, and then convert to DivX same size). Is all talk about the superior DivX quality just nonsens????

Thanks
Fred

I use "virtua dub" to convert to divx, the quality seems good on my system,....

I don't know much about DivX, but I do know FLASKMpeg is not as fast nor does it generally produce the same high quality as TMPGENC.

Techno  Home )  2002-04-07 19:44:07 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DIVX 3.11alpha is better, low file size and best quality.

use vidomi

yes, MPEG2 to DIVX is great cause it makes the file much "stabler"

It might help if the audio and video files are of approximately the same length.

I often encode MP3 audio with MPG video (PAL VCD) and have no problem.

Perhaps try converting the video first and then try adding the audio to the converted video file.

if it is DIVX v5 then TMPGENC is NOT compatible with it.

uninstall DIVX v5 codec, install DIVX v4.11 or v4.12 then it should work, otherwise it will not work thus TMPGENC is not compatible with DIVX v5

I keep seeing exeryone posting that Tmpgenc does not work with Divx5...I have converted several movies in Divx5 pro format with Tmpgenc to SVCD with no errors and the movies play back fine?

So what is the incompatibility suppose to be about?

Thanks,
Mike H.

uninstall DIVX 5, install DIVX v4.11 or v4.12 and then encode, there should be video and audio together.

tick/untick ALL the boxes in the quantize matrix settings and increase the directshow filter to a higher priority in the environment settings

I am a new user and keep getting the same error message. It always comes when the file is 90% complete or better. I have upped the Direct Show filter all the way to 3 now, and have made many changes to the Quantize Matrix, to no avail. Is there anything else I might try? I've been at it since early this morning with no luck.

sherlock  2002-04-08 00:41:09 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

un-check the boxes on the "cpu" tab eg:mmx,mmx2&sse and the quantize matrix boxes.....

bradstew  2002-04-07 18:18:18 ( ID:jzdwnbwiez6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Wizard does not come up. Only the first page. There are no templates displayed. What is wrong?

Harley  2002-04-07 18:49:31 ( ID:ipb7t2avhyg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What version are you using?

Download Version 2.53.35.130 this includes the project wizard and templates.

bradstew  2002-04-07 19:14:39 ( ID:jzdwnbwiez6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's the version I have. The first Wizard screen comes up, but everything else is greyed. The template tree is totally blank. I can manually load in templates, but not via the Wizard. I'm running Win2K and the software is on H: patition (I tried C: but had same problem). I noticed there waw no install program. I simply unzipped the contents into a directory and ran the application.

It shouldn't matter what drive or partition your using. Yes you just unzip and run directly from folder.

I think it helps if TMPGENC is located on the same drive or partition that your source files are on, but this isn't the problem.

Try downloading a fresh copy, I use win98SE.

bradstew  2002-04-07 20:36:16 ( ID:jzdwnbwiez6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'll try. But this is the latest and "freshest" copy. I'm wondering if there are some environment variables I need to set. For example, there is a configeration settings file. Is this read by TMPGEnc or by the OS? Also, all my template files have ".mcf" extension, but doesn't the program search for ".tpr"?

sherlock  2002-04-07 21:30:24 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

all the templates have .mcf ,I dont use the wizard cuz the wizard seem to lock in most of the settings and to get a better quality I need to adjust the bitrate and other locked settings.....does any one know how to get rid of the wizard?cuz I hate haveing to turn it off every time I start the program.......

Simply untick the box at bottom left of the Wizard screen to disable it.

How can I create batch files?

Follow the wizard! TMPGENC v2.5+

Techno

sherlock  2002-04-07 21:36:00 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what you do is load in your avi/d2v file choose your template and settings then save it,you will have a batch file now, repeat this step as many times as you need then go to "batch encode" and load these files in,then you are ready to go...
