when i download a movie in avi format i can play it with divxplayer and windows mediaplayer.
when i convert it with TMPGenc to mpg i got the movie in good quality but i have no sound.
what can be the problem?
and when i download a movie in mpg format and play in windows media player i hear a scrammbled sound.
P.S i run windows xp
I have an divx file that is just under 700 MB and the video is 52 min long, The wizzard shows that i should beable to fit that lenthg of a video on cd but after i converted the file it was twice as big as it was before, any help?
mpeg files don't compress as much as divx movies do, so a 700mb divx file might come out to be 900mb mpeg. Just remember that mpeg files take very lil cpu power, unlike divx files, which take considerably more because of the greater compression. This can be visibly seen on slower comps (under pII).
In the audio tab under settings at the bottom there is a section called audio edit click the setting tab next to it and there you can raise the volume....
I have been using TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc Plus for a couple months now with no problems until yesterday. I have encoded a bunch of avi's to Mpeg1 and Mpeg2 but yesterday I kept recieving an error that my avi's couldn't be opened or were unsupported. So I figured it was just the avi I was trying to encode. But now it seems like every avi I try to encode or even some avi's I have encoded before cannot be opened or are unsupported. It does however open and can still encode Mpeg1 files I have. What's going on? Why all of a sudden is this happening? I read some of the other people's posts and the replies to how to fix this but when I changed the environmental settings and direct show to 2 and the rest to 0 nothing happened. I still end up with the .avi being unsupported. I even tried doing different random high and low prioraties with all the objects in the environmental settings and nothing seems to work. Is this a bug for the versions of TMPGEnc 2.53.35.130 and TMPGEnc Plus 2.53.35.130? Thanks for any help.
I am using Studio av 7 latest version in win2K. Capture card is a DC10+.
The problem I have is that I capture my AVI fine but Tempeng says that cannot open or unsupported file. I have tried to change the priorty in environment setting but to no avail. I was using this setup on the previous version of drivers for the DC10+ and it was working fine.
I have tried to fix by reinstalling windows an taking off all other programs but still does not like the mjpeg files.
I am getting audio fine, but the video is coming out black. I have the latest codec installed, and smr patch, any ideas? It was working fine until i goofed and had to reload window xp and the program.
I goto file->output file->avi
then I click on the semi hidden button to select which codec is to be used instead of the default no compression. My question is, why can't I see my codec in this list, the codec in question is the divx5 codec (doesn't really matter, it could have been any codec). If I use VirtualDub I can see the codec and use it and it works fine. I also have TMPGEnc installed on 2 other comps and I CAN see the codec in it. Does anyone know how to remidy this problem?
I never know that "tmpgenc" had a codec option ,after useing this program for quite some time I have never heard of what you are talking about, but maybe someone else does.....
goto file->output file->avi
there u will get a new windows
u will see that a codec has allready been picked (no compression) and below it there is an audio codec.
well if u look carefully u will see that right next to the codec mini window there is button that has been almost covered up, it is to the right
If u look carefully and click on it u will see the codec menu
Can't understand why it wouldn't show up in TMPG if it does in Virtualdub.
Have you tried to remove it and then re-install the codec to re-register it with windows. Does it show any other codecs.
Also try and delete the 'CurrentCfg.tpr' file in your TMPG folder or maybe download a fresh copy of TMPG.

Sorry donjuan80.
I just realised you were answering minion for a minute there I thought you were answering your own question. Got me a bit confused there....duh.

I had no problems so far using the program, it works great!
Only I downloaded a (probably DivX) hughe file 840Mb and Tmpg blocked at 25% of the movie. To fix the problem I then spended 8 hours to convert the file to a Mov file with a Sorensen Codex to hold the filesize low, and it retuns to be a file of 3.2 Giga. All works great and the quality is still DVDlike.
Most of the new movietrailers are using this Sorensen Compression and it works fine when using Tmpg.
So my question is, what is the problem, the filesize? Is there a limit by the way? Or should I use another compression, or maybe avoid MOV files?
Thanks for your replies.
I have an problem with cut mpeg2 files.
the source is mpeg2 352*288 2560000bit video const.bitrate 44.1khz audio.
I will cut from the file (45min) about 5 min.
on video is all ok, but the audio is no longer synchron. he is about 1-2 sec
to slow on end of the new 40 min mpeg.
I want to use Cinema Craft 2.5 with TMP and would like to know what steps should be taken to do so and what would be the optimal audio/video setting would ensure top-notch quality
I purchased tmpgenc, have a serial number, downloaded it fine, etc. HOWEVER, as I read through this bulletin board about different settings, I notice I am unable to set some of them because they are "grayed out" and won't allow me to. Some settings I can't set are audio bitrate, dct component precision, vbv buffer, etc. Can anyone help me out with this! Still stuck in remote Alaska with no good movies!
hmm. . .well, I HAVE contacted pegasys twice in the last two weeks and received no reply; I HAVE searched the bulletin board a few times but have not found my specific question. I tried searching again using unlock.mcf in the search box and only got this posting and response. I DO have the unlock.mcf file located within the template/extra folder of my tmpgnec program. I was hoping that someone else out there maybe has another suggestion? thank you.
The reason why you can't select the options her are because you are probably trying to encode an to an MPEG1 file.
Some of these options aren't really relevant to MPEG1 and are only relevant to MPEG2 and is why they are greyed out.
To select these options you must choose an Mpeg2 template and then unlock it or select whichever template you want then unlock it and then under the 'Video tab' in settings change the Video stream type to MPEG-2 Video. You will then be able to select the options. You shouldn't have any problem changing the audio bitrate though in either MPEG1 or MPEG2 when you have 'unlocked' the settings.
I got it fixed. I was understanding the differences between mpeg1 and mpeg2 and all that, but NOT really understanding how the template thing worked. I have only been at this about 3-4 weeks and have already downloaded, encoded and burned onto cd's about 22 movies of respectable quality. I can tell the quality is going to get even better!
I have been trying to learn by reading and printing tips from the bulletin board and notice that you have some really good ones--thanks alot!:)
I have been burning VCD 2.0 until three days ago with Nero 5.5.7
Suddenly, burned CDs are not recognized (NO DISK) in my Mustek/Yukay player.
What happened?
I had the same problem with Nero. Nero v5.5.7.2 worked fine. Upgraded to 5.5.8.0 and by Hitecker Ad600a would not recognise the SVCD disk. Went back to 5.5.7.2 and all ok. So, did you upgrade Nero by any chance? - and yes I agree with the previous posting - the wrong BBS
