Request - TME1 - Dear users, please tell us your opinion! No.54413
Pegasys team  2005-08-20 10:50:40 ( ID:lw6iwt3ogto )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dear users, please tell us your opinion!

The new version of DVD Author will be released under the new brand
name "TSUNAMI MPEG" (TSUNAMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR PRO).
We are worried that it may have a negative impact on our customers,
due to the TSUNAMI that occurred last year, in Sumatra and the South East Asia.

However TSUNAMI is also the original name of the free software TMPGEnc (TSUNAMI MPEG ENCODER).
TSUNAMI is a common word in Japan, because we often hear it in our everday life.
But, in overseas, this name may directly be related to the disaster of last year.

So we would like to ask you:

1) what is your opinion about this brand name?

2) and what do you think would be the general opinion, or the opinion of a newbie who
doesn't know the origin name of TMPGEnc?

Thank you for your cooperation.
Pegasys team

The Tsunami word does not bother me (in Austrlia) and if anything, the word makes it easier for me to recall the software, codec etc.

I am mucking around with a lot of codecs and software at the moment so I can hardly forget this one with such a name.
Negative impact= nil
codec/software name recall = 100%

This software codec is and has been constantly mentioned on other sites particularly help and tuition sites, best to leave the name intact or loose the benefits of past positive references.

I wish you folks would also ask for our opinions on the products and new features we would like to see added.

I have submitted many excellent feature requests to your tech support, only to be told they are not needed. Clearly, they do not listen to the users feedback, and I have stopped submittng ideas.

If I had a clear channel to the programmers, I would be happy to resubmit the ideas. BTW, I know the guy that started the TMpeg products, as I worked at the company that designed the compiler he used at the time (Delphi).

I was wondering if you can editing into the program. I'm using it for scientific research and would like to cut out the boring bits of my research film.

remerge the cut/edit and multiplex/deplex engine found in tmpeg 2.5 so i can get rid of 2.5 and use only one tool for my need (i.e rip a audio stream out and re-encode it and re-multipex it back in so i dont waste 2 hours re-encoding the movie wht the video it self is fine)

oops reqad the message wrong , the name seems fine. anyboy who goes to your webpage can easily tell of you companys home background and see you mean no harm with your name , and besides in the video editing world it is a established house name next to gneeral electric sony chevy, etc so dont change it

Bug report - TE30 - AC-3 encoder lowers sound output No.53482
Kojo  2005-08-20 00:40:53 ( ID:wvxx7w020eo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello. I am converting WAV to AC3 with the TMPGENC Sound Player standalone. After conversion, AC-3 file sound is lower, than original WAV.

It sounds like the original WAV output is lowered by about -15db or more! I have not selected compression. So why is output lowered?

RED51  2005-08-27 13:17:58 ( ID:3oxeblvtt/o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same problem when converting VOB to wmv.. the video is OK but the audio component is lowered by about -20db

Cheers

Question - TE25 - Audio freezing after convertion No.43376
Mandrake  2005-08-16 16:06:35 ( ID:q4wgfcbdssm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After converting an AVI to MPG the Windows media player plays 1 or 2 seconds of the sound from the movie and then freezes the audio playing. The video however remains playing propperly. Does anybody know what's wrong ?
Thanks in advance !

John  2005-08-17 19:22:03 ( ID:kxc/udoqid2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Given the lack of information that you have given I am not sure why it happened but I know how to avoid it. Seperate the sound from your avi file using virtual dub:
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/barnprograms/programs/virtualdub.zip
and use it as your audio source for your avi file using TMPGEnc.

Question - TE25 - output file that is much, much, much longer than source file No.43374
zombie  2005-08-15 14:06:45 ( ID:edmhsjdtdvh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Occasionally when I convert an AVI file to an MPG file, I find that the resulting MPG file is much longer than the the source file; for example, one AVI file that I converted was about two hours long, but the resulting MPG file was over four hours long. When I played the file back, I found that the entire source material had indeed been converted, but when I reached the end of the original material, the file continued to play for another couple of hours, showing nothing but a blank white screen.

Is the file corrupted or otherwise unusable for VCD purposes? If I used "Merge & Cut" to dispose of the blank portion of the file, will the remainder of the file be OK to make a VCD or otherwise usable?

John  2005-08-17 19:30:52 ( ID:kxc/udoqid2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your sound file is longer than your video file.

In the future open your video (avi) file with VirtualDub. Note the length of the file. Seperate the sound from your avi file saving a wav file using virtual dub:
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/barnprograms/programs/virtualdub.zip

Open your sound (wav) file using CoolEdit 96:
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/barnprograms/programs/cool96.zip
Note the length of the sound (wav) file. It should be the same length as your video (avi) file. If it is not trim the end to make it match. Use the avi file as your video source and the wav file as your audio source using TMPGEnc to make a mpg file.

The file is not corrupted. You can use "Merge & Cut" to cut only the section with video and sound and save it as a new name to make a VCD.

Question - TE25 - no audio when converting AVI to MPG No.43372
zombie  2005-08-15 14:00:38 ( ID:edmhsjdtdvh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Occasionally, when I convert an AVI file to MPG, there is no audio whatsover on the resulting MPG file. Why? Is it a problem with the AVI source?

I have done nothing different when this happens. I simply choose my video source, name the output file, and press 'Start' to begin the process, just like I do for all the other successful conversions.

John  2005-08-17 19:37:33 ( ID:kxc/udoqid2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Open your video (avi) file with VirtualDub. Seperate the sound from your avi file saving a wav file using virtual dub:
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/barnprograms/programs/virtualdub.zip

Open your sound (wav) file using CoolEdit 96:
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/barnprograms/programs/cool96.zip
Listen to it and look at the graphic representation to see if it drops off at any point. Normalize the sound to at least 95% and save it as a different name.

Use the avi file as your video source and the wav file as your audio source using TMPGEnc to make a mpg file.

Question - TDA1 - Unknown type of error with DVD Author 1.6 No.49434
kramer  2005-08-14 06:19:51 ( ID:virxn5tn93k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have converted AVI files to DVD format using Winavi. Tried to open the VIDEO_TS folder with TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6, in order to create a menu, but i get a strange error. A small window with an X in it. This same exact error right here:
http://kanedx.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pic.jpg

I see no one answering this question. Any answer to this at all?

B_Racer  2005-08-19 09:51:38 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Did you use the Button "Open DVD Video"?

kramer  2005-08-24 15:31:38 ( ID:virxn5tn93k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Homer  2006-01-19 12:42:11 ( ID:2jy5nw6ruw6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Jamie  2006-02-09 00:41:26 ( ID:1v7oj97gndc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I also get this message. I'm using the latest version of DVD Author.

rahzel  2006-03-28 12:34:19 ( ID:aanv4pkca2h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i get this error too. anyone know why this error pops up? i thought it was the encoder i was using, but TMPGEnc DA usually opens DVD files encoded with the program im using (ConvertXtoDVD and WinAVI).

Is there a way to force "Full Screen (keep asprect ratio)" as default under Settings->Advanced->Video Arange Method? Currently only "Full Screen" is set as default and I haven#t figured a way to change this.
What parameters do I have to change in my Template in order to change it?
Here is my current template:

Question - TME1 - music breaks up No.54411
Dawn  2005-08-13 02:37:46 ( ID:vwmwkf4pooo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I converted an avi to mpeg and now the music is breaking up on the vcd, how can I correct this problem?

dan witzel  2005-11-08 01:38:31 ( ID:nuppnkrtkfc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

if the audio bitrate is too low for the channels used (ie 128k stereo) then this will happen , either swith to mono or increase the audio bitrate, also try getting rid of joint stero if used as some dvd playes cant handle it and also VCD is 44KHZ not 48KHZ

Question - TDA1 - Custom Frames and Buttons No.49432
Zortag  2005-08-12 20:20:05 ( ID:ojvwqr3fono )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I know the answer to this must be rather simple, yet in several days of trying out the program and reading up as much as I can, I have yet to figure out how to be able to use custom made buttons and frames. I use GIMP to create the images I want to be able to use, but where do I put these image files, so that they can be made available for choices once one gets into "Create New Theme". I've put them into the "..\TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6\Template\User" as well as "..\TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6\Template\Data\Frames" as ".psd" files (even tried renaming thses ".psd" to "".tme" to no avail. But no matter what I do, I can't get the images to show up as choices for frames in the "Create Menu Theme". Any help would be appreciated.

terrypin  2007-10-19 13:20:48 ( ID:1uq2rgitb22 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Zortag: It's only 2 years (and 2 months) since your post, but I see it had no replies! (Hope that doesn't mean that I won't get an answer to my very first post a few minutes ago.) That too was about customised buttons. If you are by some chance still around, and see this, perhaps you could help please?

Meanwhile, I'm sure you've resolved your own question by now, but if not...
Just place the image file (JPG/BMP/PSD/etc) anywhere and then use Edit menu Theme > Edit to browse to it.
