Question - TAW4 - Why is all my projects that big? No.62455
piphansdk  2009-12-29 00:49:51 ( ID:x6oah5z689n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been trying to make some dvd menus, but every time i gotta stop the menu making becuse the project is bigger than the dvd.
How can it be possible, that a dvd i am making in tmpgenc authore fils 4.7 gb, when a dvd that look pretty much the same, made in convertxtodvd, only is on 1.3 gb.

For saying this in another way, can i make the projects smaller without doing the quality bad?

tkrave  2009-12-29 00:59:20 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's probably the bitrate settings. Or it might be your audio format. Make sure you're using Dolby Digital for audio. You can also try lowering the video/audio bitrate in the track settings.

Your menu also has its own bitrate settings. You can change them in the Global Menu Settings.

piphansdk  2009-12-29 01:42:34 ( ID:x6oah5z689n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thanks, but i saw a chinese or was it japanese video on youtube.com
and as you said it showed something with the bitrate.
but is there a program or some way, that can tell me the original bitrate on the avi?
because i think it would be stupid to say well i dont really need the subtitles, and then i can have some more bitrate,if the original bitrate is lower than the 1 i choose

tkrave  2009-12-29 17:56:38 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can use GSpot to see the bitrate of the original file.

Question - TAW4 - Creating Menus from Scratch No.62453
Montgal55  2009-12-28 21:37:23 ( ID:d2c47/syf12 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have not purchase TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 as of yet because I need to know one thing before making a decision. . .

Can you create menus from scratch as oppose to always starting out from menu templates?

Montgal55

tkrave  2009-12-28 22:13:46 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You actually can't edit the pre-installed menu templates.

However, you can create custom menus with the custom menu option, but there will still be things you can't control.

Best thing to do is download the trial and try it out.
http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/taw4.html

If you have a specific idea of what you want in your menu, just ask and I'll let you know if it's possible.

That's possible with the custom menu creation option. Your track menu will be the chapter menu and the top menu will be what your drawing is. You can then create your own buttons (if you don't like the ones in the program), add a custom background and even make a custom frame for the preview thumbnail.
The program allows you to rotate menu items, but if you want that diamond shape, you'll need to create a custom thumbnail frame.

Custom Frame Tutorial (it's for DVD Author 3 but also applies to Authoring Works 4):

Question - TE40 - Dolby Digital with WMV files No.59216
Michael Waterman  2009-12-28 19:56:16 ( ID:envivfne0lk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dear all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get Dolby Digital Audio in a WMV using xpress 4.0? I'm converting my DVD's to WMV files and would love to have the same quality sound output as my original DVD's have. The 5.1 support that the currect version of xpress has is good, but imho DD is just a bit better.

I've seen the plugin on the site to support dd in xpress, but that isn't supported on Windows 7 and is "only" 2 channel.

Thanks!
Michael

tkrave  2009-12-30 18:23:50 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That plugin isn't for 4.0 XPress, it's for older software that they don't even sell anymore. All of the features of the plugin are already in 4.0 XPress.

At this point there's no way to encode 5.1 Dolby Digital audio with 4.0 XPress.

Aurien  2010-01-10 21:30:41 ( ID:jxf/k3kpzra )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been encoding my DVD collection to WMV for streaming in my house. I've got no complaints or problems with using WMA 10 Professional for the audio portion. I've been using the following settings for audio:

Audio codec - Windows Media Audio 10 Professional
Audio encoding type - 2 pass VBR (average/peak bitrate)
Audio format - 384kbps, 48kHz, 5.1 Channel 24 bit VBR
Peak bitrate: 768kb/s
Maximum buffer duration - 4000ms

I've been doing all kinds of movies, everything from action to musicals. You can also use 9.2 if you want to go lossless, but you'll increase the file size quite a bit. My opinion it's not really worth the file size. Sounds just as good with the above settings.

Question - TAW4 - CLOUD2 menutemplate wanted No.62447
Thumb  2009-12-28 11:29:32 ( ID:w1slirbpl6h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

On my PC the Cloud1 and Cloud2 menutemplate are 100 % identical altough the tumbnails of them are different. I need the Cloud2 but ist identiacl to Cloud 1 So can someone mail me the cloud2 template?

videl050@planet.nl

tkrave  2009-12-28 17:57:14 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you aren't using track menus, they appear exactly the same. Try making a top and track menu with Cloud2 and see if the track menu looks different.

Thumb  2009-12-30 14:18:42 ( ID:w1slirbpl6h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In cloud 1 the buttons-title are listed vertical and horizental, als the thmumbnail of cloud2 only shows vertical (text) which means i can get more titles on one page.

tkrave  2009-12-30 18:37:00 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What I am saying is that not all the menu pages in Cloud2 are vertical text links. The top menus in both Cloud 1 and Cloud 2 are exactly the same. Only the track menus are different.

Cloud 1 is all image thumbnails in the top and track menus.
http://i45.tinypic.com/fxautd.png

Cloud 2 has image thumbnails for the top menu and text links for the track menu.

Request - TAW4 - Play all button in menu wanted No.62443
Etienne  2009-12-27 23:16:22 ( ID:w1slirbpl6h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How do i add a "play all" button to a menu page??

tkrave  2009-12-28 17:58:14 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For some reason, the Play All button only appears on top menus. If you want it on a track menu, I don't think it's possible.

Etienne  2009-12-30 15:27:04 ( ID:w1slirbpl6h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Found that there are templates with and without the play-all button.

tkrave  2009-12-30 18:52:27 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can't edit the buttons in the templates, and you can't choose what buttons you want in custom menus.

Question - TE40 - Can you work together Adobe Premiere CS4 and TMPGEnc Xpress No.59212
zipperzoi  2009-12-26 17:35:21 ( ID:jblk5oe5dy. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does anyone know how I can work with Adobe Premiere CS4 with videos in Full HD (1920x1080 60i Sony EX-3 recorder) and encoding TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 for master videos or Bluray. XDCAM codec MP4 videos? Frame server does not work anymore!
Is there another way to do this? How can I make a backup of my videos edited with Premiere CS4 using TMPGEnc Xpress? I really like TMPGEnc! He is the best encoder there!

i too wish that xpress could work together with sony vegas and adobe premier pro, would save a lot of time encoding.

Zipperzoi  2009-12-29 23:39:24 ( ID:shiicvlgnol )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use Adobe Premiere from 4.2 in 1997, Premiere is definitely very bad to work with the Adobe Media Encoder! He is very slow and the quality of video encoding I do not like! The TMPGEnc is the best! The Pegasys could produce a frame server to Vegas and Premiere?

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-12-30 20:13:03 ( ID:cwi0fjykkbk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

the problem though is that adobe premier pro has a lot of filters such as tilt and swivel that tmpgenc SHOULD but dont have.

Question - TE40 - TMPGENC Xpress 4.7.1.284 error with Quicktime install No.59210

Re-installed both again and it's all right! The TMPGEnc is 100% work and Quicktime is 100% work.

Request - TAW4 - Delete subs from mkv/avi No.62442
Wilfredo  Home )  2009-12-25 16:35:29 ( ID:9cd2htpdzwf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's as simple as that. Why do I need to use another program to delete subs from mkv and/or avis? ConvertXtoDVD can do it, but I like to work in TMPGE and I don't want to buy another program for this.

I just want to import my video, select the subtitle and delete it to add my own.

Is that a difficult thing to ask?

Question - TE40 - ¿what about ati stream support? No.59206
Joshua  2009-12-25 03:27:26 ( ID:4/zeznvhk92 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I see Tmpgenc xpress has cuda support, someday is it tmpgenc xpress going to support ati stream?

TM2-Megatron  2010-01-02 23:33:39 ( ID:hfeksu9rvjl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I second this. ATI is a major player, and their current 5000 series are arguably the best for HD gaming and also for use in Home Theatre PCs.

Support for ATI Stream would be greatly appreciated.

kryotex  2010-01-13 19:14:32 ( ID:xzicytpthbr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I disagree; AMD/ATI is a minor player in the worldwide market. I'm not arguing whether AMD/ATI is better or worse, just that Pegasys should first complete full support for CUDA 3.0 with current Nvidia drivers. Then make a version supporting MacOS-X & CUDA, since Macs are Nvidia/CUDA-only with no ATI suport.
Once CUDA is implemented correctly in TMPGEnc4, with MacOS platform, then begin adding other less popular. Just my opinion to Pegasys; get CUDA working perfectly first, since it works on both Windows & MacOS. Don't try to do two implementations (CUDA & ATI Stream) and have them only half working. For ATI users out there, I'm sure there'll be support for ATI Stream technology when the number of users needing that begins to reach higher levels.

TM2-Megatron  2010-01-16 22:12:37 ( ID:vcfxne6ofl2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There's nothing stopping them from working on both at the same time. They can continue to improve CUDA support, while working on adding ATI Stream. The current HD 5x00 line of cards is vastly superior to nVIDIA's current offering, and this is starting to show as of Q3 2009, when nVIDIA's market share dropped 4.3% in just one quarter. With more HD 5x00 products available throughout the entire fourth quarter of '09, I'm sure the results from the final quarter will be even more dramatic.

Question - TE40 - Playing on Dvd Players No.59204
Willie Jones  2009-12-24 07:24:06 ( ID:s02hbpfwhso )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I burn the output file to disk. It does NOT auto-play on my computer and I put a dvd into my home player and it rejected it. What I am doing Wrong. Help.

tkrave  2009-12-28 17:50:01 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The file outputted by 4.0 XPress is just DVD-compliant, and simply burning it to disc will not make it a DVD. DVD's require a specific file/directory structure. A burning program like Nero or TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 will allow you to burn a DVD in the proper DVD-Video format.

Question - TAW4 - Slow Processing for Converted WTV files No.62440
greencw  2009-12-23 19:28:54 ( ID:nanbnvra9lf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I recently upgraded my laptop from Vista to Windows 7 and have to convert (via right click) the new Windows Media Center .wtv files to the old .dvr-ms format. TAW4 reads the resulting files, but the processing time for a 100 minute video is now over 2 hours. Before the upgrade, using the native dvr-ms files, TAW4 would go through a 100-minute video in 10-20 minutes. I have done this with about half-a-dozen converted wtv files, all with the same results. TAW4 is working normally with other file fomats, i.e. mpg and avi. Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

greencw  2010-01-08 03:01:35 ( ID:nanbnvra9lf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here's the answer to my problem: my Hauppauge HVR-950 was not configured correctly for Windows 7. I had installed the standalone driver file, emp_voydrv_26322_27230.zip, but this was not sufficient. It was not until I installed the WinTV driver and WinTV v6 application update cd_4.8a.zip that the device started recording correctly. Both of these files can be found at the Hauppauge support page for this product: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr950.html
Now TAW4 processes the converted dvr-ms files just fine.
