I have the same problem. If I try to delete the files, I get "Access is denied". Then, I can't even take ownership of the files... and I'm an administrator. It happens with all the VOB files.
Hi
I saw many templates and a lot of stuff for TW4 in Japan web site, I just wonder when those new stuff could be added in English site for downloading
I'm sure more will be coming to the English site. For DVD Author 3 templates appeared on the Japanese site first and then some of them were released on the English site later.
I have just purchased TAW4 and have found the every time i attempt to simulate a dvd the pc crashes and gives me a blue screen...is this a memory leak, bios clash or what?
Had been running version 3 with no issues at all.
Old versions were unistalled and a full new install completed.
Xpress 4 as well.
System was not having this issue until this software was installed.
Is running on XPPro SP2
4 Gig Ram
4TB FREE HDD
Nvidia 7500GE 512mb Graphics with 2009 Drivers
Intel Dual Core 2.7
With awesome help from the support team I have found the problem to this issue.
It is an issue if you are running a ASUS motherboard with Enhanced Video and dual screen features.
The file that cause the crash is atkdisp.dll.
Here's what I did to fix it:
Desktop-> Properties-> Settings-> Advanced-> ASUS
I turned off ASUS OSD, and ASUS Splendid.
OSD and Splendid are both video altering software that is supposed to enhance the "experience". OSD allows you to set Brightness/Contras/Gamma. Splended allows you to set various coloring options.
Some have also fixed this issue by moving the atkdisp.dll to another folder.
Thats to TMPGENC support who provided me the link to the solution and offered a steady stream of possible fixes and work rounds...

Just purchased Xpress 4.0 and it is a thing of beauty.
My question: why is my CUDA option panel greyed out? I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 with 4 gigs of memory and my graphics card is the 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600GS.
Wouldn't worry too much about the cuda support anyway. It actually makes conversions slower on my system (QX9650 quad and 8800 GTS 512 2xSLI), and on many files the conversion stops with error "parameter is incorrect" at the very end even when not using any filters at all!
I enabled the CUDA renderer on the trial version and it works, just bought the full version, and I think it also works. What you were probably missing: go to Nvidia and get the CUDA DLL's - It's not a giant program, but it's essential: kind of like the operating system for doing logic on your GPU - has to be installed, or none of the apps can run. You should have no problem finding the download.
I'm using TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress to convert Quicktime files (Codec: H.264, 23.976 fps) into .avi (Codec: Panasonic DV CODEC-DVSD, 23.976 fps) so that I can edit them in Premiere Pro 1.5.
The converted files play fine. The problem is that they are missing the 1st frame of each clip. Sometimes TMPGEnc adds 1 frame at the end of the clip, other times it creates a clip that 1 frame shorter than the original.
Just purchased Authoring Works 4 and it is a thing of beauty. A major advance. Props to Pegasys!

I am having trouble with batch encode, using TMPGEnc 4.6.2.266. When I attempt to add project to batch encode, I get error message "Incompatible file format," then " batch encode has encountered a time out." Just started happening, worked fine a couple days ago. Have tried reinstalling program, running spyware programs, etc. to no avail. Anyone else had this problem??
Ok folks, just tried to go the custom menu persona template, yet i selected the folder were it was an nothign showed up. so what is the file exntesnion that should alow the program to view and pic it up.
plus with the custom menu which is motion menu, how do you ensure that the menu buttons which appear half way through arent active as soon as the motion video shows.
What is this "persona" template? Is it a custom template created by someone? As long as it's a template created by TAW4, it should show up. Make sure "All the templates" is selected in the "Types/keywords" list on the left side of the menu wizard.
As for the buttons in a motion menu, they will always be active, even if they are invisible because of a "fade-in" effect. I don't think there's a way around that.
and it was a custom menu that somebody created not the company.
but when the custom section states that you should be able to add the motion menu, but nothign shows.
also how do you add links onot the main menu since it gives the users option for a audio page, yet no navigation tab on the main menu for the audio section?
its very irritating when they state that you can add and change whats on the custom menu the user does, yet they actually retrict what the user can do which is just daft.
Where exactly are you trying to load the persona template?
From the menu wizard, select "Create a menu based on a template". In the next screen click on the "Other templates..." button and select the folder where the custom template is saved. It should then show up in the template list.
The extension for saved templates is .tda4mt.
If it is a motion menu, the video files used for motion backgrounds will not be embedded into the template file, so those must be saved separately in the location the template file expects them to be.
As for audio page buttons, it should automatically add an audio button if an audio page exists. If you only have one audio track for your videos, it will not create an audio page.
If I'm encoding video to play on an HTPC hooked up to a widescreen TV (1920 x 1080 pixel-matched), do I use the same methods of AR encoding as if I were burning to a DVD to be played in a DVD player, or does my AR methodology need to change?
In other words, a 16:9 encoded video looks odd before being burned, but looks fine when played on the DVD player. I'm worried that any work I do prior to my HTPC build may have to be redone if I just stick with the old methods.
I guess it depends on what type software you're using for playback. If it can adjust the pixel aspect ratio like a DVD player, then you shouldn't have to change your encoding method.
Is there a way of applying the same settings to multiple thumbnails? I need to change the start and end frames for 21 thumbnails, but the the Menu Item Editor doesn't allow. There should be a multiple edit mode for simple things like this or the option of copying last change in a thumbnail to others or a "Change ... for selected thumbnails" like the existent for menus.
You can change certain things when multiple thumbnails are selected, but changing the start and end frames isn't one of them. Unless your thumbnails were all exactly the same, I'm not sure how changing the start and end frames at the same time would work.
You can select multiple thumbnails by holding down the ctrl key and clicking on the thumbnails you want to change.
Then, right-click on one of them and select "Menu Item Settings" from the menu. You'll be able to change the effects and highlight colors. You can also change the width and height of the selected thumbnails.
Well, I think the clips could have a different size. All I had to do was set an end time less or equal to the smallest. Anyway, all of them have almost the same size.
That's true. Unfortunately, the program can't do it.
Another way to change other settings for multiple items is to click on the "Edit menu" button at the bottom of the Menu stage. From here you can change the fonts, effects, and backgrounds for all menu pages or even select which pages and items should be affected.
