Question - TE25 - Plug-in Availability No.23810
Nunyobiznes  2002-06-24 02:37:01 ( ID:drpq7m4b77. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a plug-in availble to allow TMPGEnc to encode vob files?

Minion  2002-06-24 08:33:16 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The way to encode vob files is to frame serve them from "dvd2avi" it is a lot better than encodeing straight vob to mpeg cuz with "dvd2avi" you choose the audio track you want to extract and it seamlessly joins the vob files together so if you have 5 vob files you will have 1 mpeg file with no joining.....

Thanks for the info. will try it.

Question - TE25 - TMPGenc & MyDVD No.23807
David Sapadin  2002-06-24 01:51:50 ( ID:putoe8c3hom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I made an MPG from an AVI, 720X480 so I can write it to DVD - 8,000 kbs just to see how good it would be compared to other bitrates. MyDVD is the software that came with the HP200XI and it can't seem to handle the MPG file I made with TMPGenc. I hear the problem is the same using Dazzle DVD Complete. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance, David S.

Some DVD programs have problems loading system streams and program streams. Separate your MPEG into a video and audio stream and load them separately if your DVD software allows it.

why are they so friggin big, cant i just put them on a cr-rw cd and play them on my dvd?

Minion  2002-06-24 00:00:18 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You mean the mpeg files?generally speaking a 2 hour vcd movie with the standard bitrate should go on 2 disks, and a 2 hour svcd movie should go on 3 disks, to cut it use the "merge and cut" in the mpeg tools.......

Question - TE25 - How do I encode HDTV and higher resolution mpeg2 movies? No.23798
whatever  2002-06-23 20:11:20 ( ID:8wboed5ypwh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wanted to test out high resolution mpeg2 movies but an error message keeps coming up, "window size not supporeted by profile" or something. So how do I make a 1920*1080 or 2048*1536 mpeg2 movie? If TMPG cannot do this, got any tips for other encoders that can do this?

Minion  2002-06-23 21:31:56 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I believe that mpeg2 does not support those resolutions and no encoder will change that if you want to use those resolutions you will have to use mpeg1, only mpeg1 will support those resolutions.....

Hataian  2002-06-23 21:40:27 ( ID:pq/ugw.8krm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think MPEG2 should support it.

Minion  2002-06-23 21:51:47 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try it, it wont....

whatever  2002-06-24 00:24:23 ( ID:8wboed5ypwh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hell yes it will, but not under the strict ISO profiles that DVD hardware players need to work. I need somthing for PC playback and software like PowerDVD dont give a flying f*ck standards.
Tried Mpegrepair at 2048*1536 and seems to work, they claim up to 16k*16k is supported. http://www.pixeltools.com/MpegRepair.html

MPEG1 is locked at 4Mbps I think which would be a major problem for HDTV material, but again some software that igonre stiff-ass standards might work on a PC.

TMPEGENC is one of those brown-nose sw that obey standards blindly, can we pleez see an options for more flexible encoding? How do you forward wishes to the main programmers?

Minion  2002-06-24 01:31:47 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

All I know is that "tmpgenc" will not make mpeg2 at those resolutions I have tried and I get the same error as you did, but as for mpeg1 being locked at 4mbs I have encoded at mpeg1 at a lot higher bitrates than that with tmpgenc, I just tried at 20mbs and it worked, but i just tried to find a e-mail for you for the author and it said he wont accept e-mail about support issues or suggestions but you can try, click the "contact" at the top of this page,I"m not sure but I think "bbmpeg" might support those high resolutions, good luck..

ASHY  2002-06-24 20:00:28 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPG will allow encoding at 1920*1080 resolutions, but only in MPEG2.
To acheive this you must select the correct profile.

Click 'Profile&level' under the 'setting' tab and select 'High profile&high Level(HP&HL)' from the drop down menu.

how do i select output ratio?

Hataian  2002-06-24 11:23:54 ( ID:ceso8j9ek8a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you do mean aspect ratio by that, then just press "settings"in Tmpgenc,
go to the video tab and set the correct settings in the field "aspect ratio".

Question - TE25 - # of fields in GOP #3692 is 40. Should be =<36 No.23793
Steve Johns  2002-06-23 19:23:06 ( ID:ywwlv5.c76a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been having problems with muxing in Impressions 2.21. Impressions has been giving my an unknown problem error about halfway through the muxing process.

I downloaded a trial version of ReelDVD 2.5 and tried loading the three Mpeg files that I want to use. All three have been encoded using Tmpeg. The last and longest (40 minutes) stops at about the time that the 'unknown problem error' comes up in Impressions.

ReelDVD says that in Group of Pictures #3692 the number of fields is 40 and that I need to have a GOP equal to or less than 36.

Does this mean that the max number of GOP should be set to 18 (since I'm NTSC) instead of the default 0?

Hataian  2002-06-23 21:41:18 ( ID:pq/ugw.8krm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try it out.

Steve Johns  2002-06-24 02:11:40 ( ID:ywwlv5.c76a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I Tried it. Changing the Max to 18 instead of leaving it at 0 was the answer.

Select 16:9 as the source aspect ratio and 4:3 as the output ratio and choose 'Full screen(keep aspect ratio)'as the video arrange method.

Question - TE25 - Error message when trying to read Studio7-files No.23784
frank005  2002-06-23 18:40:16 ( ID:wxrhgxlnmio )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When trying to open a previously recorded avi-file with
Pinnacle Studio7 (dc10+-card), in Tmpeg 2.55/254 I get the error message:

Cannot open or not supported.

In several forums they had a possible solution by raising the
priority of the "Direct show multimedia file reader" to 2.
Unfortunately after changing this, nothing happened and I'm still not
able to read my Pinnacle-files.

Is there anyone with a possible solution for me? Please mail me!

Studio user  2002-06-23 18:43:56 ( ID:th5jgoq84y. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Strange enough it isn't possible to read the studio 7 avi files.
Even more strange, here I do not have any problem.

Please read the following post,

When I select a video source, it gives me this error message:

File "***.avi" can not open, or unsupported.

Is this because I have to decompress the avi files? (they're divx)
If so, what decompressor do you recommend?

Thanks

TMPGenc>option>enviromental setting>VFAPI plugin
Right click the 'Direct show multimedia file reader' and raise it's priority to 2.

Question - TE25 - TMPGEnc Plus does not work with AVISynth No.23776
George  2002-06-23 16:09:53 ( ID:mpolrml5t46 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, everybody!

After my test period of MPEG-2 function of TMPGEnc expired, I decided to purchase the TMPGEnc Plus. But first I got a trial version 2.55.38.142. And here we have: the TMPGEnc Plus does not work with AVISynth plug-in. The free TMPGEnc works fine; I start FlaskMPEG and select "Link to AVISynth" as output. Then I start TMPGEnc and select an AVS file... and so on. I go the same way with TMPGEnc Plus, but it hangs after selecting the AVS file. It shows the Hourglass cursor and does nothing. Only with Task Manager I can close it. Is this a problem with trial version only? As I said, the free version works fine but without MPEG-2. Could somebody help?

TIA. George

ASHY  2002-06-23 18:12:58 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had a similar problem a while back with TMPG.
I installed this file http://math.berkeley.edu/~benrg/avisynth/tmpgenc-readavs.zip and everthing was fine after that, just follow the instructions in the readme.txt file.

ASHY

George  2002-06-23 22:13:51 ( ID:mpolrml5t46 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK. It works a half, the TMPGEnc can open AVS-file without stopping. But if I start the conversion, I get a message "IPC Source: Audio misalignement" and the Source does not run, while TMPGEnc is running with black screen (with this message, of course). Any more hints?

Thanks!

ASHY  2002-06-24 20:04:41 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does the AVS file play with media player? If not there is a problem with either the Avisynth script or FlaskMPEG.

ASHY

George  2002-06-25 16:12:39 ( ID:mpolrml5t46 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Media Player says "File not found..." if I point to my AVS-file. I think, it can be a problem with the last tool, you wrote about. Since I've installed this tool the TMPGEnc Plus does not hang, but the free TMPGEnc shows the same error ("IPC Source: Audio misalignement...") and it worked fine before.

George  2002-06-29 19:22:35 ( ID:mpolrml5t46 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think I finally found the reason! If I try to decode a NTSC DVD file with 29,97fps and 48000 Hz audio and put this through AVISynth as AVI with 29,97fps and 48000 Hz audio I get the problem. If I make the FlaskMPEG converting the video to 25fps and 41500Hz audio the TMPGEnc works fine.
Anyway, I have tested DVD2AVI with the same DVD file and got no audio from TMPGEnc. It seems, TMPGEnc cannot work with NTSC video format (;-) (of course, it can!).

Question - TE25 - out of sinc No.23774
martin  2002-06-23 16:01:55 ( ID:kuahwndk/ek )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

could anyone tell me how after splitting a film in half the second disc has the video and audio slightly out of sinc with each other, and of course how to stop this happening, thanks in advance martin.

Minion  2002-06-23 21:34:41 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The reason why is cuz the mpeg tools suck, and to solve this you need to use a different mpeg editor, you can try "m2-edit pro" or "mpeg2vcr" there seems to be a constant problem of one sort or another with mpeg tools.....

Question - TE25 - Problems encoding transitions (gaps) No.23768
Heinz  2002-06-23 15:34:35 ( ID:gutqj2tsxm2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I have trouble using TmpGenc to convert a MPEG2 into SVCD

The problem is that the MPEG has different recordings - and between each recording there is about 1 second of noise (seems that my video-camera is putting this noise between different recordings)

TmpgEnc is losing the sound after each recording - this 1 second of noise (gap, transition) seems to confuse TmgpEnc.
Sometimes TmpgEnc is not only losing audio - but crashing while converting.

Does anybody know how I can deal with that 1 sec noise between recordings ?
Is there a way to remove "transitions" ?

thx

heinz

ASHY  2002-06-23 16:35:45 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try using the 'Cut editing' function in the source range filter to cut out your noise gaps.

ASHY

Heinz  2002-06-24 07:19:30 ( ID:gutqj2tsxm2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK, this may work.
However, if u have many transition it will be painful to find each.

Isn't there a way to make Tmpgenc to skip gaps automatically - or at least to indentify them ?

thx
heinz

Hi,
where can I find this feature ?
I've already switched on noise reduction (HQ-Quality), even tried Ghost etc.
Nothing helped so far

thx

If you are loading the MPEG2 file directly into TMPG then why don't you try using DVD2AVI and create a d2v file from your MPEG2 and load that into TMPG instead.
