Question - TE25 - simple multiplex error with mp3 file No.34817
confused  2003-02-23 23:43:17 ( ID:1bqarpj25br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

can anybody please help me?recently i've been having problems with the audio being out of sync on certain xvid avi files.the problem has occured on about 10% of my files.i use virtual dub to create a wav file and altering the vfapi settings in tmpeg does'nt work, not just when encoding with tmpeg but also with panasonic mpeg1 encoder.i've tried different codecs including sld, nimo and divx pro.the files play fine on windows media player but are out of sync when encoded to mpeg1.So i thought i would try to simple multiplex the file having created mp3 audio at 224 k/bps and 44100 hz using dbpower amp.But when i try to select the file i get an error message saying"illegal mpeg audio stream".if i create the mp3 uncompressed using virtual dub i still get the same message. What am i doing wrong?

Minion  2003-02-24 06:24:21 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can"t use the Multiplex on MP3 audio Cuz MP3 is not Compliant for Mpeg video streams, the Only audio format that can be multiplexed to Mpeg video in Tmpgenc is Mpeg1 layer 1 or 2 audio...and different codecs and Multiplexing will not fix your Problem....

jmcunnin2000  2003-02-28 03:48:19 ( ID:kjw.r7uwpp2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

While it is true that using mp3 will not result in a vcd or svcd compliant file, tmpgenc does permit it...otherwise why would you be able to browse to an mp3 in the audio part of the simple multiplex dialogue?

I am having the same problem, specifically that when I export an mp3 audio stream from virtualdub and then try to multiplex it in tmpgenc, I get an Illegal MPEG audiostream error. If I create the mp3 using LAME from within tmpgenc, it multiplexes it fine.

I wouldn't mind knowing what I need to do to mp3 files which come out of virtualdub to get them to work with tmpgenc?

If it is Part of the Video then there is Probably no way to fix it at all, and since it happens when you run it from your harddrive then it seems Not Fixable..

Question - TE25 - no picture No.34813
L-Train  2003-02-23 22:40:47 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried to play the mpeg after encoding and it didnt work. The audio worked but there was no picture. What did i do wrong?

Minion  2003-02-24 09:02:59 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If there is no Picture in the Window while encodeing then there will not be a Picture in the Mpeg file, you can usually fix this by going to "Options" to "enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the "Direct Show" to "2"...

Is there a way to convert a divX file to Mpeg while maintaining widescreen picture?
Greatly appreciated

What do you mean widescreen?
Do you mean widescreen for a widescreen TV or widescreen for a normal 4:3 TV?

If it's for Widescreen TV then just set the input and output aspect ratio to 16:9.
If it's 4:3 then set the input to 16:9 and the output to 4:3.
For both set the 'Video arrange method' to 'Fullscreen (keep aspect ratio)'

Bug report - TE25 - Audio quality problem No.34808
Bas  2003-02-23 18:22:11 ( ID:nbpc6d.5p6. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Video quality is perfect but audio sounds "metal" like.
If I make SVCD with Pinncale Studio V7.01 sound is much better.

Anyone with some tips?

Ashy  2003-02-23 19:26:25 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is because of bad sample rate conversion.

Go to Option>Enviromental setting>audio engine then change the Sampling frequency converter to 'High quality'

Thanx ASHY,

Can you tell something about audio quality when I use your suggestion compared to using e.g. 'tooLAME' as an external encoder?
In other words which will give te best audio quality?

Is it true when using an external audio encoder I can still get bad results when setting the Sampling frequency convertor to low quality?

Question - TE25 - A Person No.34804

For some reason when I try to convert an asf file to mpg format, TMPG Enc will crash. What is the cause of this?

Minion  2003-02-23 21:49:37 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ASF files are Very easily corrupted and are usually full of errors, you might be able to fix any errors in the file by useing a Program called "ASF FiX" and Raiseing the "Direct Show File Reader" in the Vfapi Plugins might help..Even if you were able to encode the asf file it might have problems like be out of sync, this is because Microsoft doesn"t want poeple converting ASF files to any other format than ASF...

Rastaman  2003-02-26 18:46:30 ( ID:pa1cndzzqvk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

AsfTools 3.1 is also handy for repairing asf's and wmv format Windows Media files

Question - TE25 - MPEG Encoder not available after installing CCE No.34802
MB  2003-02-23 17:23:47 ( ID:ow44df.0q9h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After installing CCE I get following error message in TMPGEnc: "can not be used as external encoder". I did re-install TMPGEnc but it did not help. How can I find out which Video Codecs are being used when and force TMPGEnc to use it's MGPEGII Encoder, which I paid for?

Ashy  2003-02-23 18:17:12 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is nothing to do with CCE, you may have enabled one of the options to use an external audio encoder or you are trying to encode to AVI using an incompatible codec.
Go to Option>Enviromental setting>Audio engine and disable the external encoder option.

Question - TE25 - Audio speed reduced and out of synch No.34801
Garth  2003-02-23 16:50:13 ( ID:7rulnoghxt6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just tried TMPGenc for the first time, used the template for PAL and DVD quality but also used variable bit rate. The picture came out fine but the audio was slowed down by about 60% and is completely out of synch as a result. Weird. What did I do wrong? Thanks

Question - TE25 - mcf config file question No.34799
Frank  2003-02-23 15:58:11 ( ID:9olxhspquxl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
How can i ennable the resolution chooser in the wizard?
I have tried several options but no luck.

MPEG.WizardAutoChooseList.EnableVideoSize = True
MPEG.WizardAutoChooseList.VideoSize = <480X576, 325X576> <-- this is not correct! (what is the correct syntax?)

I there somebody knows the syntax of the above statement?
I have tried several options, but al are wrong.

Thank you.

Regards Frank.

Ashy  2003-02-23 19:11:02 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just don't think this option can be enabled.
It seems that this option is locked by the project wizard and not the template itself.
It makes sense otherwise the wizard would not be able to detail the video information and resolution at the beginning of the wizard.
Even if you delete the Video Width and Height settings from the template it will still default to 352x240.
The only way around is to use the 'expert' button and change it manually or create a template with the resolution you need.

Question - TE25 - Mpeg2 file error No.34794
barny  2003-02-23 13:40:27 ( ID:pgpodrwiylm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am quite new at this, so bear with me. I encoded avi to mpeg1 then split to 2 equal halves to burn with nero,(vcd) but the format was mpeg1-640x352@23.97fps and set CBR 1150 audio layer2 44100mhz 192kbps, which I thought was default!
I then went to burn in nero, but said it was not compatible vcd format, so I then encoded to mpeg2 480x576 25fps CBr1650, (in tmpgenc)but only plays first 5-6 seconds, then no snd or vid. Should I spit avi first? can mpeg2 file be fixed? and what is motion search about?. All I want to do is burn vcd/svcd from avi files. Thanks for any help

Ashy  2003-02-23 13:56:08 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You have your settings all wrong. For a start you have created an illegal resolution for VCD.

Just choose either the VCD PAL or VCD NTSC template and encode, all the settings will be set for you.
Set your input aspect ratio to 16:9 PAL

When you split make sure the stream 'type' is set to 'MPEG1 Video cd'

Thanks for your quick reply Ashy,
Did as you said , but wasn't sure if the aspect ratio was 16:9 display or 16:9 625 line (pal), I think I opted for the later, is there a way to check what the output file is set to after encoding? if I reload the file, the output is the last template used, i think!
Many thanks again, great forum.
