Question - Create ISO No.71431
crg223  2020-02-16 14:24:43 ( ID:jnpwrp/pdr6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Which product do I need in order to create an ISO that I can then use with imgburn to burn DVDs and blu rays? I downloaded the trial version of Video Mastering Works 7, but that looks more like an editing program, like Adobe Premiere. What I need is not an Adobe Premiere but an Adobe Encore, in effect. Does this or any other tmpgenc product create ISOs?

tkrave  2020-02-20 15:30:19 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Check out TMPGEnc Authoring Works 6. It's their DVD/Blu-ray authoring software. You can output a DVD or Blu-ray project and then convert into an ISO with the included tools.

Bug report - Wrong Start Time in Source in Timelapse/Speed effect No.71420
Matthias N.  2020-01-29 19:09:34 ( ID:bxxfqvauell )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I think I have encountered a bug in VMW7 or at least a very strange behaviour regarding the Timelapse and Speed effect.

In the clip properties you can see the Start Time, End Time, Duration and Start Time in Source. Of course if you accelerate the clip then the Duration and End Time changes as the clip gets shorter. But it seems that the source is also calculated shorter respectively to the acceleration, so if you accelerate the clip by factor 5, the Start Time in Source needs to be divided by 5 to start at the correct frame. This can result in the effect not working at all.

Here is an example/steps to reproduce:
Scenario: 10 minute clip, Start Time and Start Time in Source 0:00, accelerated by factor 5, this clip would be 2 minutes long after accelerating the whole clip.
But I only want to accelerate the last 2 minutes, I make a cut at 8 minutes, resulting in 2 clips, the first one with Start Time in Source at 0:00 the second one with start time in source 8:00.
Double click the second clip and activate the Speed or Timelapse effect with speed 500% or 5x.
Now you see that the effect shows only the first frame of the video and preview is disabled, current frame is -1 etc. That is because now as start time 1:36 is expected (8 minutes/5), but Start Time in Source is still at 8:00, but 8:00 doesn't exist as the source runtime is also calculated to 2 minutes due to the acceleration. VMW7 doesn't even notify what is the problem...

For me this behavior is extremely strange as Start Time in Source should always reference to the original and not manipulated file... Even if the bahavior is desired, VMW7 should calculate the new Start Time in Source by itself if you activate one of the effects, it is very unclear why the start frame of the clip is a different one after adding one of the effects or why it doesn't work at all. If it is not even a bug.

tkrave  2020-02-04 05:17:39 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How are you splitting the clip?

I was only able to recreate your example by splitting the clip from the right-click menu in Timeline Mode.

If I double click the clip (before splitting) and split the clip from the clip editor window, I don't get the same results. Using this method, I was able to apply the Timelapse filter to the second clip and it would start where it was supposed to and its duration would properly shorten.

Start Time in Source is more of a setting than a property you shouldn't touch, if that makes any sense. You can change the start time of the clip so it starts later/earlier if you want, so 0:00:00 just refers to the start of the clip. Think of the Properties tab in Timeline Mode as the current settings of the clip; it's different than the Clip Properties in the Clip Editor window which lists the source's properties.

Matthias N.  2020-02-10 22:36:53 ( ID:bxxfqvauell )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes you are right, I split on time line with right click, because that is the most convinient way for me. But I try it out in clip editor window. Thank you!

Question - Volume lower than source No.71395
Charlie  2019-12-15 01:18:20 ( ID:ycbxv1gj7rn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I'm using the last version of TMPGEnc VMW7 and I'm experiencing low sound level in my x264 et x265 for every output file. I must use volume ajustment filter to 150% to get the right level (TV 1080i TS file in input)
I use Handrake too and i'm not experiencing the same problem.
Has someone the same problem ?

Thanks

Question - A bit annoying No.71385
Dennis Hartley  2019-11-01 04:48:40 ( ID:7.7nvfkobgc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

VMW7 is a great piece of software however a niggle I have is when dropping a number of .ts files into the editor. Each one has to have the "Finish" button clicked. I don't want to do that x number of times! If I drop a load of .mpg or .mp4 files they just get added, no extra button clicking. Please let me do that for transport stream files.

Question - UHD blu-ray compliment output file? No.71376
bob  2019-10-02 00:07:29 ( ID:7d5b7quket6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I do a lot of 4K/UHD editing and encoding with the plan to transfer the outputted files to a UHD Blu-ray once they become commercially available.

I have requested an option for a UHD Blu-ray compliment output file, but just get a generic 'we have passed you request to the development' message in reply - surely this could be added, budget software DVDFab UHD Creator supports it.

My question is, can you configure the current encoding settings to output a file that will be UHD Blu-ray compliant file as you can for standard Blu-ray and DVD?

i.e. a file that wouldn't need re-encoding when/if TMPGEnc Authoring Works supports UHD Blu-ray.

Thanks in advance,

You probably could, you just need to know the specifications.

Question - Encode comes out with higher bitrate than specified No.71362
Roger  2019-09-06 01:05:27 ( ID:zxhjy9f5iur )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am using a trial version of Mastering Works 7 and do notice that the encodes i do come out with a higher bitrate than i specified.

If i for example export 1080p25 using the "MPEG for Blu-ray File Output" and set the Level to 4.1 and Scantype to Progressive (2:2 Pulldown) and set the Rate Control Mode to CBR and set the Bitrate to 4.0 the encoded file comes out with a bitrate of 4.3.

I see the same thing with 720p50 encodes as well, iow that the bitrate i specify in MW7 is not obeyed by the encoder. Some fluctuation is normal, but not as much as this.

Why does it happen and how can it be solved?

Roger  2019-09-06 01:40:30 ( ID:zxhjy9f5iur )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After further testing it seems that the CBR option is broken in MW7.

If i set it to VBR 1-Pass and set the Bitrate to 4 and Maximum Bitrate to 4 the file come out as expected, iow with a bitrate of 4.

When can we expect a fix for this? :)

Question - TVMW 7 CPU Utilization No.71344
spektacle  2019-08-07 12:28:28 ( ID:coayaqjsmwa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I recently updated to version 7 from version 6. Previous version (6.0) was utilizing the CPU of my PC at about 100% on rendering. I noticed that the new version (7.0) provides utilization of the same CPU around only 50% (same PC). Everything is set similar for both versions, multi-threading enabled. CUDA activated for filtering. I can't find any place, where I can change it.

Anybody has the advice how to increase the CPU utilization to 100% ?
Please, help. Thanks.

Request - Some problems No.71327
kliffgomel  2019-07-10 20:12:22 ( ID:iusrjhaguer )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was very interested in the release of a new version of the program with support for 10-bit video with a high dynamic range. I did some test encodings and encountered several problems.
First, the program does not display and does not apply the metadata of the high dynamic range of the original video when encoding; these parameters must be obtained using other utilities and specified manually.
Secondly, my test videos after encoding are incorrectly reproduced on my new TV LG SM9800 (the TV does not detect the metadata of high dynamic range, the image does not match the original in terms of brightness and color). When encoding, the nvdec / nvenc codec was used, the metadata of the high dynamic range was set manually. At the same time, according to mediainfo, the output video file contains metadata of high dynamic range, which I set manually.
Thirdly, it is very inconvenient to work with audio tracks of a video file. When importing video, I can select only one track, while the program does not display its original parameters (language, number of channels, codec, etc.). It is impossible to save the original audio tracks (all or selected tracks) without conversion, even if the output container supports the codec of the original tracks.
Fourth, there is no dolby vision support.
I really hope that when updating a new version of these problems can be solved.

You should contact support with these points. The HDR issues might be a bug and they would want to fix it. Your other points would also be helpful to them I imagine.

If you're using the trial version, you can probably use their pre-sales contact form:

I use the trial version of the program, it seems to have no user support.

tkrave  2019-07-12 02:36:53 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can't use the product-specific user support forms, but you can use the form I posted.

They're a business; they want you to buy their product. If you have questions or concerns about the product, you should ask them.

Question - mov format from iOS with Variable Frame Rate No.71324
David Chandler  2019-07-09 10:44:28 ( ID:lzuwpbprafl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Will Ver 7 handle video shot with variable frame rate as produced by the newer iPhones? I am hoping to convert this footage to fixed frame rate for technical applications.

tkrave  2019-07-09 16:55:55 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to say that it can, but I can't find where I read about it. If you have a sample file, you should download the trial and test it.

Question - Mastering works or Authoring works No.71317
Ghost Rider  2019-07-01 02:14:32 ( ID:j5vig.rzsum )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not sure if I need both products.

I found Mastering works 6.0 to do most of what I want. I record gopro mountain bike videos. Most of the edits are simple cuts. I also like to add additional audio tracks mainly 24/96 music track and a 3rd mixed audio.

If I want to apply filters like to brighten it up or motion smoothing I have to do that in mastering works.

Can I do all of what I want to do in 7.0 or do I still need both?

tkrave  2019-07-03 09:08:30 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Mastering Works 7 should be able to do the things you want to do, so you don't need version 6 AND 7. I would download the trial version just to be sure it can do what you want.

Ghost Rider  2019-07-05 02:11:01 ( ID:j5vig.rzsum )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded the demo. I'm not seeing how to do the multiple audio streams. It may take some time to figure it out. Authoring works has a different layout and MW7 does not follow the same format for adding audio streams.

Ghost Rider  2019-07-05 04:42:17 ( ID:j5vig.rzsum )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Looks like more than anything I need Authoring works. For most stuff I don't need to use filters. If I capture a TV show and in Mastering works I encode to a TS file for Blu-ray I still have to use AW to complete the job. If I use MW the file becomes twice the size and a 1:30 hour video will not fit on a BD25 disc. The same capture using just AW is like 11gigs.

So I think for the long run I may get both. Looks like if I get AW first I can save a little on MW as a repeat customer.

tkrave  2019-07-10 02:45:28 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ah, okay I think I just got confused. You were thinking about just using Authoring Works 6 and wondering if Mastering Works 7 could do what AW6 could do.

The product names are similar so things get mixed up pretty easily.

Yeah, it sounds like AW6 is a better fit overall for you, and yeah, you'll need MW7 if you want to do the fancy filters.

Both programs can encode for Blu-ray but AW6 is better at adding multiple audio tracks, multiple subtitles, and of course you can create custom menus if you wanted to.

Question - Timelapse No.71302
Marc_D  2019-06-18 14:32:31 ( ID:x73f0fx0xkk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a possibility to add support to create Timelapse movies or give the possibility to change the lenght of showing a photo in Slideshow for less than 1 sec, so you can create a timelapse movie this way.

Thanks.

tkrave  2019-06-27 08:46:58 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can reduce an image's duration to .04 seconds in Timeline mode. To do this, when adding a clip, select "From files" instead of "From pictures as a slideshow". This allows you to reduce the duration of the image to .04 seconds after it's imported.

If you have hundreds of images you want to apply this to, put them all in one layer using the "From files" option (just add them all at once), then select them all in the layer. Navigate to the last image and hover your mouse over the end so an arrow appears. Drag to the left to reduce the duration of all selected images. It seems to automatically go to .04 seconds for me.
There will be gaps between the images now, so right click on the layer number area and select "Close Gaps in This Layer".

Hope that helps!
