Question - 16:9 Full Screen No.58772
Dave1023  2009-03-27 19:48:01 ( ID:vtmti4ydvnw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been taking some of my DVD's including BD's and converting to Mpeg's for my media center PC. I can't seem to figure out how to take a Full Screen movie and keep it Full Screen for playback. I either get the traditional 4:3 (Black bars on the sides) or 16:9 (Black bars on top and bottom). Does anyone have the settings to make it Full Screen?
Thanks,
Dave

tkrave  2009-03-28 01:06:43 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What type of output are you playing the videos on? Is it a monitor, HDTV, or what?

I'm guessing it's not a 4:3 monitor/tv since you get black bars on the sides of 4:3 encoded video, so it's possible that your monitor/tv isn't 16:9. Most widescreen computer monitors are 16:10, so there will be black bars at the top and bottom of 16:9 video.

Is there any image distortion on the outputted videos? Is the source footage 16:9 or 4:3?

Hi
OK, but how to convert full screen on 16x10 monitor to avoid top and bottom black bar.
Thanks
Chandna

tkrave  2009-04-29 18:11:24 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ideally, you want the black bars on a 16:10 monitor if your footage is 16:9; that means there's no distortion and you're not cropping the image.

If you really want to have full screen on a 16:10 monitor, you'd have to either stretch the image vertically a little or chop off the sides.

Question - AVCHD to WMVHD problems No.58769
Pushloop  2009-03-26 16:48:58 ( ID:1iwhxq9dbpf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi I am hopeing someone may be able to help me.

I am trying to convert an AVCHD file to WMVHD

I have tried using tmpg 4 (latest version) to do this. If I use the AVCHD file reader in the software then the conversion will not even start. This is irrelevant of output settings.

If I turn this off and then use the direct file reader I have several issues:

After about an hour of encoding it just freezes. I have tried cbr 1 pass, cbr 2 pass and vbr (av/peak) 2 pass.

Same thing happens. I have tries with/without cuda, and turning off multithreading....

Please help this is driving me mad !

spiral  2009-03-27 07:29:45 ( ID:uexq2jhhhql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, I think...
This is possible because an over heat issue, does it also comes when you
precess other file formats?.

How about your CPU temperature?, try also by open your PC cabinet, in
order to make it cooler.
Also try by update your video and graphic card's drivers, if your
graphic card is old model is possible that is related with the problem,
so you may need a new model.

When processing heavy files like AVCHD files there require CPU and graphic card power, or a high performance of both them.
This could be related with hardware performance, also try to disable the preview screen when encoding.
good luck

Pushloop  2009-03-29 20:35:05 ( ID:1iwhxq9dbpf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks,
None of these things seem to be the issue, I am running a core i7 in a HUGE case with a HUGE fan and it never get up above 40 degrees no matter what you do to it. I'm not running CUDA as I have had problems with it because my PC has multiple accounts on it. I have a GTX 260 with the latest drivers including CUDA on it.

I can roar through pretty much any other format, the usual one being 1080p or 720p MKVs, I can back up a full DVD disc in minutes .... Everything else seems fine.

The file is an mpeg transport stream, on two pass it goes through the first pass fine then just seems to stop very quickly into the encode. It seems like a memory issue, I have 6 gig of ddr3 although currently under win xp it of course only "sees" 3.

I haven't tried disabeling the preview, although on this system there seems to be negligable difference btween off, partial and full. But I'll give anything a go !

Any other suggestions ?

Question - h264 to DVD-R TMPEGnc Xpres 4.0 No.58766
papalapa  2009-03-25 12:17:02 ( ID:0y0tlm2sngc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi! I just want to convert an MKV file that I uncompressed to an h264 and associated files (audio) to an standard DVD-R, but when I try to import the file with TMPENGnc Xpress 4.0 it says that the format isn't recognised.

Is it possible to do this with TMPEGnc Xpress 4.0? Could be possible with DVD Authoring Works 4? Do I need any additional h264 codec to do this?

Thanks a lot!

Pushloop  2009-03-26 18:07:17 ( ID:1iwhxq9dbpf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is that the input souce that is unrecognised? If so... You could try installing K-Lite mega codec pack (google it). This solved my MKV problems. Check you can play the file in windows media player. If it plays fine you should be good to go.

papalapa  2009-03-28 15:39:10 ( ID:yagcq0y.6jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeah, I installed the "CoreAVC codec" (h264 codec) and I can play the .h264 file with the Media Player, but I still cannot open the file with TMPEGnc Authoring Works 4 nor TMPEGnc Xpress 4.0.

Any idea?

Bug report - DIVX encoding crashes in Vista64 No.58764
ggshubin  2009-03-23 18:51:25 ( ID:yrbdlo9v7zl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. When I try to encode (anything) using the Divx profile on my Vista64 machine, XPress 4.0 crashes every time. Sometimes it will render for a few frames and then crash, but mostly it happens when it first starts to encode. The weird part is is if I use the AVI profile and then encode using the Divx codec there, everything works fine. So it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the codec itself, but with the way XPress 4.0 is setting up the DIVX encoding profiles (I'm guessing). I don't have this problem on my Vista32 or XP machines.

Thanks,
George

Kinthalis  2009-04-04 02:55:34 ( ID:qphdbj3m7pl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Confirmed. It happens to me as well. I've been encoding in WMV format, but yeah Divx would be preferable.

I'm on an i7 920, 6 Gigs of RAM, Vista 64 bit.

Question - Add 2 Subtitles? No.58762
raymond  2009-03-23 04:12:33 ( ID:oi.qtd2azrn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

May I know is it possible to add or burn 2 subtitles to an AVI file? Reason is I want to see the English subtitle and my wife wants to see the Chinese one instead. So the best solution is to display both at once and maybe resize the font smaller.

Actually many years back, we often see multiple subtitles in VCD. But in DVD, we can only display one at a time.

tkrave  2009-03-23 16:51:02 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Technically, I think that is possible, but I think you'd have to input them manually to have them both show up at once.
You can try importing one and then adding the second manually.

Question - Pixelation in fast moving stuff No.58760
Lloyd  2009-03-20 17:44:20 ( ID:1x8mwey6zwk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to convert 1080i AVCHD to Mpeg2 1280x720 for projection using 720p projectors. (I am using Watchout software to do multi-projector shows) But I am getting pixelation when subjects move fast, even when reviewing the converted videos on my computer screen. For my output, I chose a constant bit rate and a video bit rate of 18,300 kb/s.

Keeping in mind that my videos are going to be projected from my computers and NOT condensed down onto a DVD, could someone make setting suggestions for getting the best video possible when converting AVCHD to mpeg2? And of course, I am especially interested in eliminating the pixelization on fast moving subjects while maintaining the highest quality.

Thanks!

tkrave  2009-03-23 16:46:34 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use a 2-pass variable bitrate for the best image quality. If space is not a restriction, you can set the maximum and average bitrates pretty high to ensure the best quality. Keep in mind that if the source footage is already pixelated in fast-moving scenes, you probably won't be able to make it look any better.

Question - Remove Black Bars No.58758
dlg1391  2009-03-20 13:32:10 ( ID:via/aakxsuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to remove the black bars on a mts file and convert it to mp4 for apple tv. I am able to remove the bars but when I do the end result gives me a movie where the actors look a little funny. The movie looks like its been stretched tall. Can someone please help me with this and let me know if this is even possible to fix. I have to change the movie size to 1280x720 for apple tv.

tkrave  2009-03-23 16:43:43 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure the aspect ratio is 16:9 in for your output format. You may also need to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 in the clip properties tab of the editing window.

Question - WMV conversion No.58753
doublem70  2009-03-17 11:42:56 ( ID:erxaz14xnvn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I'm Italian and I'm evaluating the trial version of your software which I think is really fine. I'm trying to convert high definition Video in FullHD or HD WMV. The encoding with my Vista 32 bit system (Intel i7 920 CPU, 3Gb DDR3 RAM and Nvidia 8800GT graphics card with Cuda driver) takes almost a day of processing to 1980 x 1080 and about 8 hours to convert a FullHD MP4 file with multichannel digital audio. For my HD test, I set the following profile: Video WMV 9 adv. pro., res. 1280 x 720, asp.ratio 1:1, 24 fps, 2 pass CBR 3850 kbs, 95% quality setted, audio 9.2 WMA Lossless 1 pass quality VBR 100 48000 kbs 5.1 ch. The file of 3.95 Gb obtained is little smooth flow with some slow. Maybe I should reduce the quality setting under 95% to obtain a WMV file with the same quality of the original file? Can You help me? Thanks

old-hack  2009-03-17 19:57:31 ( ID:uj8.dx5xch. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I do full 1920 X 1080 video and 5.1 AC3 in about 3 hours with a quad core CPU and 4 gigs ram. I only do one pass CBR on both video and audio. I use Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile and Windows Media Audio 10 Professional. I set the video quality at 75 under the Video tab. I set the picture quality one click to the right of +Speed under the Other tab. My file size is around 8.5 gigs.

doublem70  2009-03-18 14:30:51 ( ID:erxaz14xnvn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, thanks for Your reply, I understand my first error... different framerate from original file and output file; Yesterday I have try converting in FullHD res. another time with the same (25p)fps, with 2 pass VBR 3500 kbs avg. with 75% quality on video tab with WMV 9 adv. prof. and WMA 9.2 Lossless (XBOX 360 accept only 9 version within 4 Gb for streaming from Media Center) and 75% picture quality on the "other" tab. I've obtained a 3.99 Gb file (108 minutes of video sufficiently fluid) in 7 hours of encoding. Now I know that TMPGE is my application! Thanks

Pushloop  2009-03-26 18:03:56 ( ID:1iwhxq9dbpf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have converted 1080p mkv of over 10 gig to wmv hd at 10 gig and they stream fine though media center to a 360. I don't think there is a file size limit as such. The 360 has not been tested at bit rates over 15 mb/s though. Personally I am hoping to test this as soon as I have my avchd problem solved. I'll report back then.

Question - Encoding With Volume Normilzation No.58752
crimanysakes  2009-03-17 06:44:20 ( ID:vlbj5ihbm5f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I only have the trial version at this time... so I may be missing something.

BUT; I have a number of clips. I want to normalize the out-of-whack between ALL the clips, not for just a specific clip at a time.

ie; if clip one is a bit low as compared with the rest of the clips, i want clip one to normalize to the same volume level as the rest. ditto if one is to loud.

i don't really see a way to say "use this clip as the base line" so that all other clips can normalize around them.

if i can do this, i'm sold. but i want to make sure i can do something along these lines.

(failing that, is there a different way of doing this?)

thanks,
--c

hannah2411  2010-07-31 17:54:23 ( ID:/sx2huzeywa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi you can change the audio volume using tmpgenc 4.0 but you have to do it one track at a time so you have to use yours ears basically to judge weather there the same, you can batch encode them together but as for editing them you have to do this one track at a time.

It's possible, but I'm not sure how. A user was able to use the command line to change something. Check out this thread:

Question - How to converter avi to mp4 for HTC HD (800x480) No.58748
zhsteve  2009-03-15 02:15:28 ( ID:r//utnrtoxa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi! All:
I have a problem with MPEG4 converter for my HTC HD
HTC HD can support up to 800x480 resolution, but in TMPGEnc MP4 output, I can only set to 720x526, is it possible to set high resolution to 800x480.
And after converter avi to mp4, I found it is quite laggy to play on my HTC HD, seems H264 hardware decode is not used. So I wonder how to get a correct setting for HTC HD to hard decode mp4

Thanks a lot in advance!

Steve

Question - 0x80048003 problem when trying to import a VOB file No.58746
Rob  2009-03-13 18:32:50 ( ID:lkx6ho52zaw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Wondering if anyone else has had this strange issue.

I am in the process of encoding my whole movie collection and there are two movies giving me the same issue.

I use anydvd and clonedvd to make a copy of the movie in DVD file structure format, I then import the VOB's into TMPGEnc 4.0 express 4.6.3.268 and with both of these movies I get the error code, "Unsupported file. (error code 0x80048003)".

Mind you, I've imported over 100 movies the same exact way and its only these two. They are both Jason Statham movies (War and Transporter 3).

Rob  2009-04-07 18:32:12 ( ID:sysxrvfzszg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just happened again with "The Condemned" and "Hancock". Has anyone else run into this issue?

7  2011-10-18 10:39:56 ( ID:vrrtquvhzr2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Good luck. it happens to me too sometimes. Not sure why. 1 out of 30 movies.

tkrave  2011-10-18 10:47:30 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe try a different method.

Use DVD Shrink to rip the DVD and remove copy-protection. Import that backup into XPress.
