Question - TAW5 BBS - Inserting Regular Chapter Marks No.68067
redanman  2013-10-28 19:05:03 ( ID:us6cr6pugom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I import multiple camcorder files from a Sony camera to create a Blu-Ray or AVCHD file structure for playing on my media player. Typically this would be around 100 clips to make a final merged file that plays for around 1 hour. What I would like to do is to create a DVD style menu structure that has 12 regularly spaced buttons/chapters across the merged files. The only thing I can get from TAW5 is a chapter for each separate file; ie around 100.

So far, the only option I seem to have is to merge the files outside of TAW5 and then start the authoring process from that one merged file. In that way, I can add the 12 chapters automatically without an issue.

This workflow seems to be unnecessarily convoluted. Is it possible to tell TAW5 to insert the chapters based on the final merged file rather the individually contributing files?

BlizzardUk  2014-01-13 13:52:55 ( ID:8l//1xjzpnf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sadly not, I have a similar situation of 70+ files and being fed up of having to chapter each one, one at a time. So I mentioned about including a "all media files chaptered at once by timed intervals" feature to Pegasys and they say they will add it to their list of maybes for a future update or release. So fingers crossed.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Divx sound misalignment No.68060
rap2@email.com  2013-10-25 09:30:49 ( ID:ymwunosy5s. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I edit a .TS file and select DivX as the output if the resultant file is over 2 gigs, the excess amount is stored as a ".1" file. The problem is that the sound in this end file is way out of snyc. Is there a workaround for this?

Persen  2013-10-30 11:03:13 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, stop using DivX. Its a codec that was abandoned years ago by most people, because of the to meny encoding problems there is with it.
The old DivX users switched to Xvid instead, which is also possible to use, if the codec is on your computer, if not, download the codec and install it:
http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html

Then when it comes to output, choose AVI and you get a list of AVI codecs you can use, where Xvid then also will be located.

rap2@email.com  2013-11-01 09:38:46 ( ID:ymwunosy5s. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you for you kind reply.

I've tried a number of conversions using Xvid and found that the quality of each frame is not quite as good as the newest DivX version (loosely based around H-264). Also, I'm trying to compress a LOT(!!) of old movies so .avi is out of the question because of the much larger resultant file size. I guess I'll just have to use meg2, which allows four to five movies on a BluRay disk, instead of 10 to 12 with higher compression codec's.

Persen  2013-11-03 21:35:36 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use TS files directly to create Blu-ray discs. That way its easy to put 2-3 HD movies on one disc with out having to lower the bitrate.
I never create Blu-ray's out of SD recordings. Those TS files i instead store on a USB harddrive, which i then use my WD TV Live Hub to access, so i can watch these movies on my TV.

rap2  2013-11-15 02:52:11 ( ID:ymwunosy5s. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've switched to .mkv file structure and it works great. I store between 8 and 11 full length movies as data files on a 25GB bluray disk; which our Samsung BluRay plays play perfectly. Works well!

Question - TAW5 BBS - Write AVCHD DVD source to .ISO image file No.68059
John  2013-10-24 23:04:13 ( ID:erdqn2fe/ec )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to create an .ISO image of the AVCHD DVD?

If not:

Is it possible to verify the burned disk with the source files?

Question - TE25 - avi to jpg or bmp problems No.68056
huanxiang  2013-10-24 12:14:17 ( ID:vk8wqo3bwfl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert a video of 'avi'format to one group of photos. which template I should load? I have tried the 'SuperVideoCD (NTSCFilm).mcf' and 'VideoCD (NTSCFilm).mcf', but the preview and photos converted are all black images.
Is there anyone could kindly tell me the reason and how to do with this problem?
Thanks a lot.

Question - TE25 - Video display no longer fills the whole screen in edit mode No.68049
mdv921  2013-10-22 11:11:46 ( ID:mqzs.vywzym )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been using version 2.5 for many years with no problem. Now suddenly when I attempt to edit a video the display only appears in the upper left hand corner of the edit screen and it's only a portion of the full screen. Does anyone have any ideas what has happened and if there is anything I can do to get things sorted out? Thanks!

tkrave  2013-10-23 02:30:05 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What OS are you using? It might have to do with the Windows OS display zoom feature (don't remember what it's actually called). Basically you can make text appear larger which is helpful for large, high res displays. Unfortunately, this can screw up things in various programs such as TMPGEnc. Going back to 100% text size usually fixes the issue.

I'm not sure if that's the source of the problem but it sounds similar to things I've experienced in other TMPGEnc apps.

mdv921  2013-10-23 08:13:10 ( ID:mqzs.vywzym )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using Windows 8 (actually 8.1 now). I have made no changes to my display settings. I was hoping the upgrade to 8.1 might do something to fix the problem but no such luck.

applause  Home )  2013-10-21 19:39:49 ( ID:q5rvcr4dqa2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have identified a problem where .wmv files encoded with TMPGENC 4 randomly play upsidedown in Adobe Director using their mediaplayer xtra.

Problem not experienced with other encoders.

Anyone confirm this??

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Editing question No.68043
Bob  2013-10-19 03:34:28 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is fairly complicated so bear with me...

I have a music video clip that has a few sections it which I would like to crop so that the image is zoomed in during those sections, but the rest of the clip remains the way it was. I know how to crop so it's easy enough to create sub-clips that are zoomed in, but what I am unsure of how to do best is how to assemble those sub-clips together in such a way to have nice video crossfades in them but no audio crossfading. I tried using timeline mode but in order to get a nice video crossfade, but the clips have to be overlapped to get crossfading and that also crossfades the audio, which I do not want.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

tkrave  2013-10-22 05:40:26 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In Timeline mode, you can just turn off the audio for the edited layers. So basically have one layer that has the full, unedited video and use that for your audio.

Bob  2013-10-22 14:31:32 ( ID:.ce7xkvadkf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks tkrave. What I find is in order for there to be crossfades (or any transitions for that matter) between the edited clips, you have to overlap them in timeline mode, and when you do that, the final video clip is shorter than the original, unedited clip by the total of all the crossfades. Granted, I don't want long crossfades between clips (around 1 second each I am guessing would be good) but even just a couple 1 second crossfades then results in the video being 2 seconds shorter than the audio. This makes a lot of sense when you think about...that crossfades will shorten the video. I am not sure what else to try.

Bob  2013-10-22 22:53:14 ( ID:.ce7xkvadkf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK -- I seem to have found a good compromise. What I did was, in timeline mode, I lengthened the duration of the first edited clip to make up for the shortened video that resulted from the crossfade into the 2nd edited clip. Lengthening the duration of a first edited clip clip to make it longer than the source freezes the last frame, which then is not really noticeable during a short .75 second or so crossfade into the 2nd edited clip.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Mask filter No.68037
kyleb2112  2013-10-16 22:04:31 ( ID:sa0irbwwdcw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to put a static mask on an entire video clip, but the mask filter only affects the first frame of video. I try to set the range to the end of the video, but the "set current frame" button does nothing. Why wouldn't a mask affect the entire video by default?

tkrave  2013-10-22 05:58:44 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you in Timeline mode? I think it's easier to use the mask filter in the timeline mode. The mask will have its own timeline which you can easily adjust the duration.
