Question - TAW4 - Play button not moving in chunks No.62408
janlafata  2009-12-10 03:59:59 ( ID:v80qxslrrtg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just upgraded to the latest version, but in the last version, when I was finalizing the menu, when I wanted to move the play button down or up when it was unlocked, it would move in like spaces of three and always the same. In this version, it is able to just be dragged. I hope that makes sense. There has to be a setting for this I think.

tkrave  2009-12-10 18:07:08 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is a snap to grid option in the menu editor which is probably activated. It's one of the buttons in the lower right corner of the screen.

That worked..thank you!

Question - TAW4 - Error VMELIB - "Not Analyzed" No.62403
gashina  2009-12-09 23:22:08 ( ID:m25mbeq/da6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using Source Wizard - "From a DVD, BD, ..." - "From a Drive" option, I selected my DVD Drive and after some time popup a error message box saying "Not Analyzed".
The title of this windows is "VMELib".

I have only OK button.

Off course, the dvd content didn´t added to my project and I don´t know what is the problem.

I tried loading the content from a folder in the hard disk and it happened again.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks.

tkrave  2009-12-10 18:13:13 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it a copy-protected DVD? That might be the problem.

Or it might be corrupted data on the DVD. Can you play it/import it with other software such as Nero, Roxio, etc.? Try playing it with VLC player and see if you can extract the MPEG data with it if possible.

gashina  2009-12-13 13:28:51 ( ID:m25mbeq/da6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

All the DVDs are mine. Was recorded with my Sony DVD recorder.

In the past, I made this action lot of times, but with Windows 7 64 bits is the first one.

I´ll try with VLC o Roxio... If you have any other suggestion to me, please tell me.

Thanks

gashina  2009-12-13 13:49:14 ( ID:m25mbeq/da6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I play with VLC and "Codec Information" menu item, it says:

Type: Video
Codec: mpgv
Resolution: 720x480
Display resolution: 720x480
Frame Rate:29.97...

Type:Sound
Codec: a52
Channels:3F2R/LFE
Sample Rate: 48000Hz
BitRate:448 kb/s

gashina  2009-12-15 01:02:21 ( ID:m25mbeq/da6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

With DVD Decrypter (www.dvddecrypter.com) I could extract the good part of the mini dvd. There was around 10 bad cells in the content.

After that, I could import correctly the VOB video files.

Thanks.

Question - TAW4 - I have perosnally emailed support to see if a update will be made for creation of h.264 bluray disks No.62401
africanmarty  2009-12-09 23:01:54 ( ID:9ve7sb5ied2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have perosnally emailed support to see if a update will be made for creation of h.264 bluray disks, this is what it said :

"Request - support for authoring H.264 bluray disks without reencoding to MPEG2. Tmpgenc authoring works 4 work great creating mpeg2 bluray disks without reencoding when a compliant bluray mpeg2 file is used. However why is their no option to create h.264 bluray disks ? i use the spurs engine to harware encode mpge2 and h264. But using mpeg2 the video bitrate must be used at max (32Mb/s) for it to look any good. please add support for creation h264 blurays **without reencoding to mpeg2** in a future release. Also can you please tell me if this is currently being worked on, thought about or going to be implemented in a future release ???"

hopefully they get back to me, if and when they do i will post up the response.

regards Marty.

PS: i think the more people that do this the more chances we will get h264/AVC bluray disc creation with authoring works.

africanmarty  2009-12-10 22:19:28 ( ID:dfditwmikpk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i have received an email back from tmpgenc staff regarding this matter and it reads :

"It is in our plan to offer H.264 format for BDMV output but it will take
time to implement, and at this time Smart Rendering is rather difficult."

Yours Sincerely,

So, 10 months down the line and they still haven't got it sorted!!!

How hard can it be to implement?

Its seems they are still iving in the DVD age with MPEG2 encoding, yet everyone else has moved on.

Question - TE40 - Prepare videos on TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress, to be used on Authoring Works 4 ? No.59165
ReinaldoGarcia  2009-12-08 23:49:50 ( ID:ionnbd/9ffa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dear,

I am wondering what is the best way to have all conversion using 4.0 XPress to MPEG (DVD 4.7 WIDE Standard)so when I import the video to Authoring Works 4 it would NOT recode the file , meaning lossing quality.

Basic , i don´t want to loose quality recoding twice. Whats the best way to impor the videos for Author Works 4 so the video complain with all specs for Standard DVD.

Thanks

Reinaldo

africanmarty  2009-12-09 22:36:36 ( ID:dfditwmikpk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i do this too for DVD and bluray, this way i know the files will be complient. If you are making a DVD use the 'DVD standard mpeg file' set your settings appropriate to your video and have the video bitrate 9200 kb/s (max video bitrate tmpgenc4 express offers) and you will be fine and authoring works wonr re-encode the file.

ReinaldoGarcia  2009-12-10 23:14:42 ( ID:ionnbd/9ffa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello Friend,
Yes i did that, but i have a feeling that is recoding again. There is a option on Authr.Works on GENERAL -> Genereal Track Settings -> DO NOT ADJUST THIS TRACK SIZE. There is not much info ont he help, but i believe is the one to turn OFF the recode of Mpeg Files. What do you think?

I use DVD standard MPEG file, the only difference i set a bitrate of 4500 VBR, because i need to include at least 1 hour and 30 min of video on a DVD5.

Reinaldo

tkrave  2009-12-11 18:08:15 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In Authoring Works 4, does the clip have the Full Rendering icon (red FR) or the Smart Rendering icon (blue SR) in the Source stage? If it's marked as Smart Rendering then you don't need to worry.
What makes you think it's re-encoding anyway?

Question - TAW4 - Audio No.62400
Janet  2009-12-07 23:45:58 ( ID:ygvgdppkkoo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a track that has a 12 sec slide show and then 1 min 43 sec video clip. I can get my recoreded audio into the slide show ok. But when I insert the audio into the video clip (next within the track)the video clip audio starts part way through. I think it is starting 12 sec into the video clip. How can I get the video clip audio to start at the beginning of the video clip?

Should all my audio tracks be joined into one audio track and just inserted into the beginning the total track.

I am making a tutorial DVD

Thanks for your help.

Question - TE40 - MKV encode stuttering issue No.59164
CasanovaFly  2009-12-06 03:01:30 ( ID:xwwfkq7hp8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been encoding a few MKV files to WMV-HD with Xpress, and 90% of the time they encode perfectly. However, every so often I come across the odd MKV file that encodes fine, but the last 20 minutes or so of the movie (sometimes longer) begins stuttering. The audio is fine, but the video stutters ever so slightly. It's faint, but enough to make you slightly woozy if you're watching it. And I have NO idea what's causing it. The MKV, if played by itself, doesn't pose the same issue, and when I use Handbrake to convert it to mp4 it also plays fine. However, if I convert that mp4 to WMV-HD, I get the same problem. I don't think I have any codec issues. I only have DivX 7 Pro and XviD installed, and use DivX for my HD encoding. I used to have K-Lite before I reformatted my computer, but chose to leave it off to avoid any possible conflicts. I can't imagine what the problem is, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bug report - TE40 - When program starts Windows 7 color changes No.59161
srousset  2009-12-06 02:57:41 ( ID:z24pjjzwmjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just installed Xpress 4.7.3.292 in Windows 7 and when it starts my whole screen turns to 16 colors, but Xpress starts up. Once started (and barely readable), however, I can not add an input file by either drop-and-drag or using the "add file" button. I used the trial version previously on XP and really liked it, but after buying this for Win 7, I am having significant problems even getting started.

CasanovaFly  2009-12-06 03:04:46 ( ID:xwwfkq7hp8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you tried right-clicking on the .exe file in your program files folder, going to properties and using the Compability Wizard (compatability tab)? I don't have Windows 7, but I imagine the Comp. Wizard would still be kicking around. I had a problem with 4.7.3.292 on Vista, and used this. I set it to run for XP Service Pack 2 and it works, but whenever it's open it turns off Aero, though that's a small price to pay.

To recap: right click on .exe file in program files, go to Properties, Compatability tab, check the Compatability mode box and run it for XP (if this still applies in Windows 7).

Hope this helps.

Question - TE25 - Opening Files No.43751
duke  2009-12-03 21:57:50 ( ID:csf9/snw3t6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, everyone:

I wanna re-encode a mpeg-file. If i open a mpeg-file as 'Video source',
it works. But if i wanna open a mpeg-file as 'Audio source' it don't
works. If i only open a mpeg-file as 'Video source' and i encode it, i get
a new mpeg-file with a video-stream, but without an audio-stream.
What can i do? Why i can't open a mpeg-file as 'Audio source'? This file-type
is shown as an option in the file-type-list of the 'Audio source'. Or what
file should i open to get an audio-stream in the new mpeg-file after re-encoding?
Please answer as fast as possible!

Thank you so much!

UJ  2010-02-13 02:05:46 ( ID:wtpt1k4zkfa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You don't want to re-encode anything. You want to demux (or remove) the audio stream from the video stream. You will end up with a WAV file if you use VirtualDub and then you can do whatever you want with it.

Question - TAW4 - Motion Search/Quality No.62398
MediaLover12  2009-12-02 23:01:59 ( ID:w7mpm/g9utw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had a question on what is the BEST setting that is the quickest and best quality for the Motion Search Precision settings. Also, does bumping up the quality % in the track settings do anything to the video that is very knowticeable? Thanks! :D

Request - TE40 - VOD Preset No.59160
mboufleur  2009-12-02 14:31:01 ( ID:2t1.m/h/sxl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I would like to know if you plan to create VOD presets for MPEG-2 and H.264 in the future (using TS container).

Question - TE40 - Correct Aspect for 720x486 No.59159
mboufleur  2009-12-02 14:27:27 ( ID:2t1.m/h/sxl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I work with a Matrox Axio HD system on top of Premiere, and we capture lots of uncompressed content that must go through TMPGEnc Xpress for MPEG encoding.

The frame size of uncompressed content captured by Premiere is 720x486.

These extra 6 lines don't bother that much (I normally crop them), but the clip is recognized as squarel pixel (1:1).

Content using 720x480 normally is identified as 4:3 or 10:11.

When I encode the content to MPEG-2 4:3 NTSC, the final video is resized, creating black borders on top and bellow the final clip and resizing the 720x486 (1:1) to fit inside the final 720x480 (4:3) MPEG file.

I could remove the option "keep aspect ration" from filter Picture Resize (and apply cropping to remove the extra 6 lines), but since it's not always me doing the encoding, I fear that others might forget about this procedure creating MPEG files with black bars for the final videos.

I see two solutions: TMPGEnc Xpress should recognize 720x486 files as 4:3 aspect ratio, or have some of the presets for MPEG file creation have Filters embedded into them.
