Question - TDA1 - Is it possible to use AC3-Plugin as a standalone No.49350
Tamron  2005-02-20 13:02:31 ( ID:7pbuqpj/b3k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DVDLab Pro use the TmpgEnc to convert MP2-Sound to DolbyDigital. But is it possible to use AC3-Plugin as a standalone-applikation?

I am interested to use the TmpgEnc AC3-Plugin in a batch-process to change mp2-Files to AC3.

GIEN  2005-02-20 12:03:09 ( ID:pwzgadpckqw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

A doubt.

Could there be any compatibility issue between TMPEnc 2.5 and AMD 3400+ cpu or nVidia 3 chipset (Asus K8N-E motherboard)?

G.E.

Kransvans  2005-02-20 09:43:10 ( ID:ez.ipohrbtm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi There.

First, i want to excuse my poor english.

My problem is that when i'm converting my AVI file to MPG I loose my audio. ( I've read som threads here already, so I see that you are confused over why people even wants to do this. )

My excuse for doing this, is that I want to make my subtitles permanent on the file. So I can burn them on a DVD with subtitles.

I manage to get my subtitles on the right place. But, as I wrote erlier I loose my audio when I do this.

Got any idea what I should do?

Question - TE25 - TMPGEnc exits while converting No.42910
Enrico  2005-02-20 09:38:27 ( ID:odherbwh.sr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
I have a problem with MPEG2 conversion.

While converting videos realised with Premiere 6.5 (acquired with Matrox RT.x10) TMPEG 2.5 begins the conversion ...and then, almost "randomly", the program exits with no reason.
I tried disabling SSE and SSE2 cpu intructions, and even the floating poin in the Matrix is disabled, but nothing to do: the piece of file that is converted is perfect, but the conversione nere arrives at 100% of the file length.

Maybe a codec problem... but not sure; does anybody can help me, please?

I answer for myself since - trying and trying - I found the "bug".

The solution is in the nVidia chipset "nTune" utility: it effectively encreases performances, but causes small problems with intensive fpu utilizaion.

So it's enough to delete the "performance selection" directly from the rin service of the registry (regedit.exe ...etc).
Reboot and the problem is solved and locked.

Question - TE25 - How to split off audio from MPEG. I want audio to play on standard CD player. I don't want the video No.42905
MS  2005-02-20 08:46:21 ( ID:xlspkwv96wa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an MPEG of a song consisting of audio and video in a single MPEG that I took from a VCD. I need to split off the audio by itself and burn it to a CD. I can't figure out how to seperate the audio from the video. Could some kind person give me a tutorial as I'm extremely inexperienced with this program. Thanks. MS

ashy  2005-02-20 19:34:05 ( ID:k9h6gdv/wof )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Open the MPEGtools in TMPG and then load your file into the 'Simple de-multiplexer'
Delete the video part from the video box then run it and you'll end up with just an audio file.
If the file is MP2 then you can't burn it to disk. You will need to either convert it to wav first or convert it to MP3.

TMPG can do this, but the procedure is different to the above if you want to do it.

aldaco12  2005-02-23 13:39:26 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try BeSweet + BeSweet GUI. Choose profile 'MP3 for music' and input: *.MP2.

Question - TE25 - No audio even though it is mp3 audio No.42903
Shrug  2005-02-20 01:40:37 ( ID:a3toqppbpph )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No audio even though it is mp3 audio.
I keep trying to prepare an avi for DVD but tmpg is not picking up the audio. The audio is mp3 according to AVIcodec, but I still get no sound.

Here is the file info according to AVI codec:

File : 700 MB (700 MB), duration: 1:37:48, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 41 %

Video : 609 MB, 871 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 512*272 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported

Audio : 90 MB, 129 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 3 (MP3), Supported

Does anyone have any ideas why my exported files have no audio?

Many thanks!

TMPGenc often cannot tackle with some type of compress ausio.
Read http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/129217, extract the audio as an Uncompressed WAV and load it or convert it to .MP2 with BeSweet (+ its GUI)

Bug report - TDA1 - Menu Background Image No.49348
pvideo  2005-02-19 23:38:13 ( ID:kzllgl2cuug )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've noticed that the encoded background image of the menu has washed out blacks compared with the original. This is with yellow font and drop shadow in the particular dvd menu I've just made. Compared with the photoshop image and the DVDAuthor menu theme unencoded page, the encoded output has a higher black setup. I'm wondering if this is due to the drop shadow, or the rollover highlight colors, or font color.....

B_Racer  2005-02-24 09:43:06 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's effekt of the Luma-Range in MPEG2.
MPEG2 uses YV12 with a CCIR601-Luma-Range, your Photoshop uses RGB.

In RGB, Black is 0, White is 255 - in YUV, Black is 16, White is 235.

Question - TE25 - TMPGEnc does not convert the entire .vob file No.42901
tducar  2005-02-18 04:25:33 ( ID:rzdqvou3ruj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I convert a .vob file in TMPGEnc, it only converts about the first 13 seconds of about a 2 minute file. I think it only converts until I pressed the stop recording button on my camcorder. I use a sony camcorder that records directly to minidisk. Does anyone know why tMPGEnc stops converting, or, better yet, how I can keep it converting until it converts the entire .vob file?

Question - TE25 - Converting .VOB files No.42898
Mike  2005-02-17 19:05:30 ( ID:utc6.ihcft. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a .vob file given to me on a DVD that I want to edit. The file plays both video and audio through Windows Media Player and my Nero player. Windows Movie Maker and Screen Blaster video editing software wonÃÕ recognize .vob files. TMPGEnc will convert .vob files to MPEG1 and MPEG2 files where my editing software will recognize the video but not the audio. I also converted the MPEG files to .avi files, but the same thing happens. IÃÎ not as technical as I would like to be so if someone can explain to me in simple terms how I can extract the audio from the .vob file into a format that my editing software would recognize©å©ªÃÍl give you my first born.

ashy  2005-02-17 21:37:42 ( ID:k9h6gdv/wof )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First of all if you want to convert your VOBs to MPEGs then simply run the VOB through the simple multiplexer in TMPG and select 'MPEG2 Program VBR' as the 'Type'

To get your other software to recognize your audio then download AC3FILTER.
http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/

If that doesn't work the install the AC3ACM decompressor.
http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/

If neither work then to convert your VOB audio to a usuable format use Virtualdubmod to extract the audio to a WAV.
You can also use DVD2AVI to create a WAV from your VOB.

Question - TE25 - muxxing don't work ?? No.42896
BX-8017  2005-02-17 18:16:40 ( ID:vqg.440x5uc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

a 1000 times I used befor the mussing funktion of tmpgenc plus without any problems.
Now I have the following problem: I want to mux an mpeg-2 video file (an original stream file from digital TV) and an ac3-audio file (I streamed video and audio seperately because that's the only way for me to get the ac3-audio, if different audio-streams exist)

With the funktion "simple multiplex" it say "illegal mpg video/audio stream"
with the funktion "multiplex" tmpgenc does nothing without any notice but the list of stream stay empty.

I don't understand this. The files are correct! the ac3file I can play with the WMP.
I made the many times before with the same kind of streams. Why this doesn't work????
can anybody help, please !

Best Greetings
BX-8017

ashy  2005-02-17 21:07:41 ( ID:k9h6gdv/wof )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try loading one at a time into the multiplexer, not the simple multiplexer and see if TMPG can read the headers of the files.

If it can't read the headers of one of the files then there is your problem.
However if it can display the header info of the files then try running just one or the other of the files through the multiplexer to see which one gets rejected.

Question - TE25 - vob chapters No.42894
nablus  2005-02-17 14:08:22 ( ID:th4japiu8rm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am running vob files through TMPGEnc without any problem unless the file contains chapters. Then TM processes only the first chapter and ignores the rest.

Im sure there is a simple solution but I cannot find it.

Thanks so much for any advice

ashy  2005-02-17 21:03:01 ( ID:k9h6gdv/wof )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The simple solution is 'DO NOT' run VOB files through TMPG.
VOB files are NOT simple MPEGs. They contain other components that could affect the encoding.
For instance you cannot select the required audio track with TMPG.

The tried, tested and best way to encode VOBs is to use DVD2AVI as frame sever.
Simply open the VOBs with DVD2AVI, select the required options, audio track e.t.c. and then create a project file.
After a few minutes you will have a compatible file to load into TMPG.
