Question - TE25 - Error when convert: D2V (VOB) to VCD No.38443
jC!  Home )  2003-08-03 19:29:07 ( ID:jiqprtx2iwg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to back up a movie to VCD. I've used this program many many time to do this, but for some reason I'm now gitting a problem. It's been awhile since I've messed around with VOB-VCD conversions but I created a D2V with DVD2AVI and extracted the WAV. Stuck both those into TMPGEnc and started the encoding. About 3%-5% into the encoding I get a few differant, yet similar errors.
- "Read error occurred at address 0049B45C of module 'TMPGEnc.exe' with 47464662"
- "Read error occurred at address XXXXXXXX of module 'DVD2AVI.vfp' with XXXXXXXX"

I've tried re-doing everything from scratch and still gitting the same problem.

Well if you are useing the very Latest version of Tmpgenc you can try something different..Use Smartripper to Extract the Vob files from the DVD to one Big Vob file instead of seperate Vob files, You do this by going into the settings and set it to Extract the Vob files to the Max File size and then set the Max file size to 9gb(If you are running a NTSF System) and now rip the DVD and you should have one fig Vob file, Now Use DVD2AVI to extract the audio to Wav, then Load the Vob file in as the Video source and load the Wav file as the audio source and encode to VCD, This should work as Tmpgenc now accepts Mpeg2/Vob files as source files, But if you can extract the vob files to one big Vob file then you can Try renameing the Vob files sequentially Like name the First "vob-01.vob" and the second "vob-02.vob" then do this for all the Vob files then load the first one into Tmpgenc and it should load the rest in order but it would be best to rip the DVD to one big File....Good Luck...

Question - TE25 - Ripping dvd causing choppyness? No.38436
Ratta  2003-08-03 06:28:36 ( ID:cpxjo9o/pb. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi,
i just ripped a dvd video using this tutorial:
http://www.groenjes.com/dvdrip/ripping_dvd_to_svcd.htm
the dvd is pal and i followed the tutorial, expect parts that are for ntsc users.
After converting it to mpeg 2, i burnt it to a svcd with nero. The svcd and mpeg 2 fils plays ok on my pc, but choppy video and a few bad quality appears on mystand alone dvd player.
any ideas??

thanks

ashy  2003-08-03 10:16:58 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You probably burned the disk at too high speed. Lower your burn speed. 4x is best.

Ratta  2003-08-03 12:28:00 ( ID:cpxjo9o/pb. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hey ashy thanks for you reply:)
i burnt it at 4x, but the problem still persists.

I had the same problem with a few VCD's. when switching to another brand of cd the problem was gone. perhaps this will help.
Cheers.

ashy  2003-08-03 16:42:06 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeh could be the disks also, which disk do you use?
Maybe your DVD player cannot handle the bitrate.
Do VCD's play ok on your DVD player? What make of DVD player do you have?

Ratta  2003-08-04 07:40:22 ( ID:cpxjo9o/pb. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hey ashy,
i have a CellSonic dvd-m55a.
All vcds dvds, and svcds play fine.
I currently used a digimaster 10x rw burnt at 4x.
I also tried lowering the birate, but it still doesnt work.

any ideas?

thanks :)

ashy  2003-08-04 17:53:26 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In my experience some DVD players do not like CDRW even if the disk plays fine on the PC.
Do this happen with just this one SVCD or all?

Question - TDA1 - Video Resolution No.48682
poco  2003-08-03 03:30:37 ( ID:nh0cih.r5uw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have several movie files that are at a reslution of 480 X 576. Tmpgenc dvd author will not work with these, saying they need to be 352X2888, 720X480, etc. I don't understand why this is, is it possible to explain ? Or is there any way around this without re-encoding the entire movie ?

B_Racer  2003-08-04 10:08:30 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The DVD-Standard only includes Half-, Full- and Broadcast-D1, not 2/3-D1 like on SVCDs.
Read some Guides here, in the TMPGEnc-Forum or on vcdhelp.com to put 2/3-D1-Video on DVD. But: Not all Players do play such Discs correctly.

@ poco
Try DVDPatcher or SVCD2DVDMPG

I keep getting the message: "Can't load P3Package.dll
What does that mean. Is there a problem with the program or my computor?
PLEASE HELP!!!

Minion  2003-08-02 21:49:01 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You get this Error Because all of the Files that come with Tmpgenc are not all in a Folder and all of the Files have to be in the Same Folder and you can"t have the Main EXE File sitting on your Desktop as a Shortcut...

Question - TE25 - Problems with TMPGEnc. No.38432
Spyder  2003-08-02 08:45:27 ( ID:qbqnpc27w0f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having problems converting AVI. files to M-PEG's. I get everythong done and go to press start and get a "Can't load P3Package.dll". What does this mean? How do I correct this?

ashy  2003-08-02 10:46:49 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It means you haven't extracted all the files from the TMPG zip folder properly.
You can't run TMPG from the zip nor can you just have the TMPGenc.exe on it's own without the rest of the files.

Question - TE25 - How to change the language of TMPGenc No.38428
YY  2003-08-02 06:05:39 ( ID:ku8oixwg83l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does anyone know how I can change the language of TMPGEnc? I am used to English so when it changed to another language based on my Windows OS, some terms becomes confusing for me. Thanks for any help.

YY  2003-08-02 06:08:12 ( ID:ku8oixwg83l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I forgot to mention that the Windows I am using is Windows 98SE.

ashy  2003-08-02 10:53:35 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Option>Language>English or edit the TMPGenc.ini
Under [System] change the LanguageID to 1033

YY  2003-08-03 05:34:58 ( ID:ku8oixwg83l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Actually, I tried that, but it still stuck with the language of the Windows, which is not English just to clarify. There is no other way? :<>

Request - TDA1 - Auto Chapter by scanning scene change? No.48681
LM  2003-08-01 16:50:49 ( ID:sthddvq7knw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It will be great if there was a scanning of the video content for scene change. If it could be done and automatically add chapters. Then we could go back and manually removed the undesired chapter.

Other software have this function.

Question - TE25 - Changing Max Frame in GOP after encoding No.38425
mykaskin  2003-08-01 13:39:31 ( ID:lqzb2wfd/zf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've stupidly encoded a load of video with the "Max Frames in a GOP" set to "0", is there any way of reorganising the video stream (i.e. not recompressing) to change it to a lower number. My GOP Sequence is set to standard, so I don't know why it makes the GOPs to long!

Thanks,

Mike

ashy  2003-08-01 17:44:36 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't understand your problem. Are you saying your GOPs are too long?
Why are they too long, how many frames are in your GOPs?
Are you encoding for DVD?

Minion  2003-08-01 21:47:50 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are Encodeing for DVD and your DVD authoring Program is giveing you an error saying that there is a Problem with the Gop then you Can fix it with One tool I know of...There is a Mpeg editor called "Mpeg2VCR" which has a Feature called a "GOP Fixer" ,It will Change the Length of the GOP of your Mpeg2 file so that it is DVD Compliant and it will Fix any other errors in the File like audio and Video Time code errors and other such Problems...The Problem is that the Program isn"t freeware and is about $100 and I don"t know of any Other such Tool....Cheers

Question - TE25 - MPEG4 for future releases No.38423
Shenfeng  2003-08-01 12:52:12 ( ID:q7eesjkxjvg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

Since MPEG4 is getting more and more popular and will most likely take MPEG2's
place in the Digital Video World, I would like to know if TMPGEnc will support
MPEG4 in future releases.

regards,
SF

ashy  2003-08-01 17:46:23 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, TMPG already supports MPEG4. You just need to install the relevant codec and you can encode to whatever MPEG4 format you wish.

Question - TE25 - Vcd header trick No.38416
mopearoo  2003-07-31 23:39:17 ( ID:x.ytzhkqpkl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all, i'm new at burning svcd's but i have a question that i cannot find an answer to. When i try the header trick with tmpgenc, when the file is multiplexing it stops at about 25%...so my file that was 800 mb is now at about 200 mb. It plays fine but it is obviously only about 25% of the original file. Any help and/or ideas would be appreciated. Thnx in advance.

Minion  2003-08-01 02:49:31 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Were did you get the File from??? Did you make it with Tmpgenc?? I"m asking Cuz there could be an error in the File at about the 25% Point in the File, it is very common with say downloaded files...Instead of useing the Multiplexor Load the File into the "Merge & Cut" and set it to "Video-CD Non-Standard" and Click the "Edit" Button and use the navigation slider on the Bottom to skim through the movie and see if Tmpgenc can read through the whole file if it can then read the Whole file then just give the output file a Name and click "Run" and it will make a New File with a VCD Header on it..I have allways found when the Multiplexor doesn"t work for adding a Header to the file the Merge & Cut usually will...

mopearoo  2003-08-01 21:25:32 ( ID:x.ytzhkqpkl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thnx alot, i will try that...and yes it was a downloaded file so perhaps there are some errors. I will also try a different file to see if i get the same result. I'll let you know how i make out. Thnx again.

nextvkin  2003-08-02 15:04:28 ( ID:q/fqzufrq8r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm also trying the header trick with my svcd which is on disc; I tried your method of going directly to merge & cut but when I tried to edit, it just hung. Any ideas? Thanks.

ashy  2003-08-02 15:58:08 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Because you are trying to do it from a disk. It takes far too long to access the disk like this.
You need to copy it to your hard drive first.

mopearoo  2003-08-02 16:37:48 ( ID:ptsyt9aq8c. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here is an update...i tried using merge and cut with a different file and it worked fine, so i went back to the original file i had tried and i went to edit and the entire clip is ok...well, it runs thru no prob., all 51 mins. Then when i select output and then run it only produces audio/video streams for about 12 mins...it continues to rewrite header fine and then just finishes. Any ideas would be great, thnx to all who have replied so far.

Minion  2003-08-02 21:47:33 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The File is Probably corrupted in some way, You can try De-multiplexing it then Re Multiplexing it and see if that fixes the File..When I have Problems like this with mpeg files I use the Gop Fixer in Mpeg2Vcr which can fix errors sometimes...

Question - TE25 - XVID with TEMPGEnc 2.52 No.38414
Ari  2003-07-31 23:03:00 ( ID:mr9zsw7lqhl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all:
I´m trying to use the TEMPGEnc with an Avi that uses the xvid (MPEG4) codec to play it, but the application says that can no process the file because the format is unsopported.
Is there a workout on it? or it´s just a configuration matter?
Someone out there could help?
Thanks
Ari

Minion  2003-08-01 02:41:41 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To get rid of that error you go to "options" to Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"..But you might get an error while encodeing cuz Tmpgenc doesn"t like the XviD codec Much so you might consider installing the FFdshow Decoder and configure it to decode XviD files....

Question - TE25 - Variable Bitrate Movies No.38409
Ringalo  2003-07-31 16:19:15 ( ID:0vv6fcamm1n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I encode a variable bitrate movie. I get alot of digitization in my movies. To describe it, almost looks like the blocks blur together in the movie. Sometimes they blur so much the screen goes green and I can only stop the movie by pushing the power button. It acts almost the same way satelite tv acts but then corrects itself. Please Help me!!!

Minion  2003-07-31 21:05:08 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

We need more info than that, Like what are you encodeing to VCD? SVCD? DVD?, and what are the Bitrates you are useing?? and what type of file is it and were did it come from?? and anything else you can think of...

ringalo  2003-08-01 20:58:12 ( ID:0vv6fcamm1n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am encoding SVCD movies. I am backing up my dvd movies. I first rip the .vob files, then I use dvd2avi to create a project file and load them into TMPG Enc. I usually calculate the bitrate with various calculators. The max. bitrate is 2550 and the avg. bitrate is usually somewhere around 1800, I don't use a minimum bitrate because of blockiness in certain scenes. In most cases Constant Bitrate turns out fine, but Variable Bitrate has its glitches like I stated in the previous posting.

Thank You.

Minion  2003-08-01 21:42:27 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well It sounds like your Problem is From Bitrate Spikes, when Useing VBR with Tmpgenc the Bitrate has a Tendancy to to spike at certain Points in the File and when it spikes to high for your DVD Player to handle your Picture will Break up into a Bunch of Blocks or the Video will seem to slow down and the audio stays normal or sometimes cuts out...Tmpgenc has really bad Bitrate Controll which is one of the Main Reasons why I don"t use it for SVCD"s anymore..I would sugest that you Keep useing CBR or Lower the Max Bitrate when useing VBR...Cheers

Ringalo  2003-08-06 12:43:30 ( ID:0vv6fcamm1n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hope Minion can respond to this posting....

I though everything was clear sailing. I started encoding movies with constant bitrate. Did one last night and burned the bin files. Chucked the movie in the dvd player and went through the chapters. Some chapters were starting off the same way my original problem started. Could there be spikes in cbr files??? Frankly this issue is pissing me off...

P.S. I was also using that DVD2SVCD program if this ifo helps resolve this issue for me. Also I am burning these movies at close to a 40x with my burner. For the short time I though this issue was resolved i was burning at a 4x, could this be the problem?
