Question - TE25 - User No.32753
Sean Webb  2003-01-02 20:37:18 ( ID:uqxvzbvslgo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe someone can give me some advise, I have been using TMP for the last 7-8 months very successfully, all of a sudden about 5 weeks ago my laptop will automatically shutdown during the course of tryign to encode. The system is a Compaq Presario P4 2.2Ghz with 512 MB DDR, 60 GB HDD, and ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated, considering Compaq will not help me any.

Thank you

After I encode some avi files there is no sound. Does anyone know why and how I could fix that problem.
Thank You

This is Because the audio in the source files is not supported By Tmpgenc, you need to extract the audio from the source file to WAV with something like "Virtual Dub" and use that as the audio source...

Question - TE25 - TMPGEnc Bug?! No.32750
Wayne  2003-01-02 20:08:05 ( ID:h9axdmtwfdo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am attempting to convert some DIVX files to VCD format. I am using the latest version of TMPGEnc. What happens is when it gets down to the end of the movie, TMPGEnc terminates and closes itself (is there a setting for this?). The movie is converted fine, but has the last 2 seconds truncated. Does anyone know if this is a bug? and is there a way to prevent this behavior?

Thanks.

In case Hori doesn't speak Spanish, the question is asking for a setting to erase the original AVI once encoded.

Daniel: please turn off Caps Lock. THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT!

Question - TE25 - Got m2v and wav - how do I edit and join both No.32744
Martin  2003-01-02 19:13:22 ( ID:ri9yj7nbckh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am moving a lot of PAL Beta material to DVD. I am capturing as AVI 720x568 as I have a Leadtek MyVIVO video card.

SLF1UB V to card A to Soundblaster Audigy 2.

1.2MB per minute!

I then encode 5 to 15 minute chunks with VBR and I get filename.m2v and filename.wav.

However I need to trim the ends of both files to match (overruns) and then merge them with other files.

How do I do this?

Thankyou

Minion  2003-01-02 23:27:43 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can only Merge Files that have the Exact same specs, Joining and editing is for a Editing and Authoring program and Tmpgenc is not responsible for this..

Martin  2003-01-07 12:33:42 ( ID:ptwjzabhie6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So how do I edit the M2V and WAV?

I would need to trim say 2 seconds aff the end of each.

I will also need to join

file1.m2v and file2.m2v

and

file1.wav and file2.wav

and keep both in sync!

1st question:
I´ve tried to convert an *.avi into a *.mpeg but at the half of the process there was something like "illegal video stream". What is this about?

2nd question:
at some files comes a message like "file cannot be open or is not supported"
Can somebody explain it to me??

thx for requests

Answer to Question Number 2= go to "options" to "enviromental settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"...

Question - TE25 - followed instructions to fit 750 Mb onto 700Mb VCD but didn't work No.32738
alandla  2003-01-02 17:43:56 ( ID:x4osbvj2o0w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Help please. I followed instructions to try and fit my 750Mb file onto a 80min (700Mb) CD but it isn't working. What is throwing me right away is that the movie is only 75 minutes long but the file is 750Mb.
I go into TMPG and unlock the bitrate control and lower it from 1150 to 1048 which gives me a 700 Mb file size. However when it encodes, the file size always comes back as 750Mb and I cannot burn it.
One other note is that the TMPG screen shows that it is only 93.75% of the CD capacity (since it is 75 minutes going onto an 80 minute CD) but the file size is registered as 750Mb, which is larger than the CD capacity.
Any suggestions? I have used TMPG to split a 120 minute movie into 2 CD's but this seems like a waste for this particular file.
Oh yes, if you right click on the file name to check out the properties, it says that the file is 750MB but 790Mb were used. Any ideas what this means. I just realized as I am typing this that perhaps I should lower the bit rate to try and get the second number to be 700MB.
Thanks for any help.

Minion  2003-01-02 23:23:10 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don"t Know what the Problem is You can easily Fit 750MB on a 700mb CD-R, I have put up to 820mb on a 700mb CD-R useing Overburning, what are you useing to Burn your VCD"s???...And there is a Bug in the 2.59 version that will not allow you to lower the Bitrate below standard VCD Bitrates...

alandla  2003-01-04 18:56:28 ( ID:uuoxnuuhlo. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am using TMPG 2.55.38 and am burning my VCD's with Roxio Easy Cd Creator 5.0 I am not sure how to overburn a CD or if I even can with software. Maybe I should try another program for burning but I do not want to go out and but another program.

Question - TE25 - Ashy, Minion and all experts re Audio No.32732
al  2003-01-02 16:52:50 ( ID:w29btrivx/m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I asked this question before but there is something i didnt noticed before:

Problem: Audio Stuttered
Project: Wedding Video
Application: Premiere 6 - Avisynth - Tmpg 2.57
352x240 29.97 fps
CQ min 1500 max 3000 quality 75 & 3000-6000 (2nd test)
VBV buffer 40, Motion Quality: High quality
GOP Structure - don't think it will matter
Audio - Stream Type MPEG1 Layer II - (no idea why i used II instead of I)
44100 stereo 40 bitrate

Ashy's comment:

... another important point is the VBV buffer size you have chosen. 40 is too low for the bitrate you are using. The VBV buffer size has to rise with bitrate and 40 is for standard VCD. The buffer size you should be using should be at least double that. About 112 should be ok.
If you set it to '0' then TMPG will automatically chose the appropriate bitrate for you....(end)

I retained some of the audio file that came with the video clip and inserted some music file. What i didnt notice before is that the audio file that came with the video file (DV file) was fine it's only the music files (source: cd and mp3) that i inserted which causes the problem,

Hmmmmm.....

Something to ponder for 2003.

thanks

Al

So what is the Problem?????????

al  2003-01-02 23:42:41 ( ID:w29btrivx/m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i apologize for not being clear.

nwaz, the problem is howcome during playback the clip where i add a music file the audio/music is stutered, However, when it is playing a clip wherein, i did not add any music files, i just retained the original audio file i.e. voices, conversations, background music etc, this portion of the clip are all fine.

whew...

ASHY  2003-01-03 20:00:52 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Which editor did you use to add the clips?
TMPG doesn't handle multiple streams, so after editing you may need to re-encode the whole of the audio to a single stream wav before loading into TMPG.

al  2003-01-03 20:27:45 ( ID:w29btrivx/m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Premiere 6. What it does is it re-encodes the whole audio clips, in the timeline, into one single wav file. Then i would framserve the video portion to TMPGenc and attached the audio file.

ASHY  2003-01-04 12:43:38 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you extract the wav from premier and play it back ok on it's own?
I would think this is a problem with premier not re-encoding correctly to a wav.

If you can extract this wav then I would re-encode it again to another wav or try encoding the wav to mp2 audio only with TMPG and check the result.

ASHY

Question - TE25 - Jerky sync on playback on DVD player No.32731
gary lafferty  2003-01-02 15:09:59 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I have a question about playing back VCD's on my DVD player. I have used TMPEGenc to create the VCD's, which playback fine on the PC. But when I play them on my DVD player, every few minutes the sound will go out of sync with the video. Then the playback becomes jerky until the sound is sync'd again.

I am already using a .WAV file from VritualDub to encode with the .AVI file.

I have 1 disk that plays okay, the others are all jerky. Could this be something to do with the 'field order' setting in TMpegEnc ?

Any/all advice much appreciated.

Request - TE25 - Tmpgenc as Server -> Client Architecture No.32730
ZeroCool  2003-01-02 13:55:24 ( ID:.kylaqvs5v. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are their plans to run Tmpegenc as Server -> Client Software?

I mean if i have 3 Computers and on one i have the Tmpegenc Server Software installed and on the 2 others i have a Tmpgenc Client Software installed and when i encode now a Video then the Server will split the Video in severall parts so each computer will encode a part of the Video. After all its done the Server will combine all parts together in a working video.

Or does anybody knows a Software who can already handle this?

Thx for you Answers

What you are experiencing is Quite Common with File Encoded By tmpgenc especially with Some DVD Players..This is usually Caused By Bitrate Spikes in the Mpeg file and the DVD Player can not spin the Disk fast enough to compensate for the Sudden Jump in Bitrate...If you are useing VBR VCD"s then use CBR, and if you are useing a Higher Bitrate than normal then lower it, But if you are makeing a Standatd Compliant VCD then you should Try useing a Differant Mpeg encoder Cuz your DVD Player can"t seem to handle Tmpgenc files...
