Question - TE25 - VFAPI FILE (where has it gone for down loas No.31529
NikShore  2002-12-04 20:52:27 ( ID:sghodh5rii2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have downloaded Smartripper, DVD2AVI and TMPGENC to rip DVD to VCD. Trouble is I cannot unzip the TMPGENC. I know that you have to previously have the VFAPI plug in installed, but for the life of me, I cannot find it on the site. Please Help

Not haveing the "VFAPI Plugins" installed Won"t prevent you from Un-Zipping the File...Maybe the Zip File is Corrupted?? You can download the VFAPI Plugins from here: http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_vfapi.html ...

Dilloinger  2002-12-06 01:36:00 ( ID:/2hramgvypm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey I got the same problem. I think that it's because they gave us the wrong archive to download, or because they forgot to fill the archive with the program. It gotta be one of those two things. Maybe we should wait until they undate the site.

Question - TE25 - Permanent Error?? No.31525
A.D.  2002-12-04 20:28:03 ( ID:1rqtvhad1aj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey there,

I used to like TMPGEnc, but since today I keep getting an error "Read error occurred at address .... of module 'KERNEL32.DLL' with ......

The error occurs at quasi-random moments, but always before an encoding job has started. Anybody know what's going on? It can't be a codec-issue, and re-installing Windows (ME in this case) doesn't correct it.

Please help!

minion  2002-12-04 22:35:08 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does it do this Just with this File or with every file...The Problem could be that the File is Corrupted in some way which is Probably the case if the movie is a Downloaded movie...

A.D.  2002-12-04 23:25:56 ( ID:1rqtvhad1aj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The error occurs before opening any file most of the time. When lucky enough to start encoding, the program just hangs after about 30 secs. This happens with every file, so not only with downloaded files.

A.D.  2002-12-05 15:02:21 ( ID:1rqtvhad1aj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well, the problem vanished... Just as sudden and unexpected as it came up.. Thanks anyway

Bug report - TE25 - VBV delay No.31524
Gerd Nixdorf  2002-12-04 19:54:55 ( ID:9ri9acbc5oh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is a bug in TMPGEnc. Some players have problems with VCD's encoded with TMPGEnc. The problem ist, that TMPGEnc wrong calculates the VBV delay in dark scenes with only few motion. I tested such movie with some encoders and a VCD standard. The great tool MPEGRepair delivered the results.
You can see the results in:

http://www.gnixdorf.de/Download/Test_VBV.doc

To solve this problem you have to use XVCD with Variable Bitrate (VBR).
You can find the settings in:

http://www.gnixdorf.de/Download/VCD_CH402.doc

Question - TE25 - out of sync avi file No.31521
lysangelle  2002-12-04 19:15:21 ( ID:mwbxsjajqpm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi everyone,

i downloaded an avi file who seems out of sync (images are a few seconds late) i check it with gspot and it says:
for the video format: 4CC: DX50 Name:DIVX5.0 (codec not installed)
for the audio format: 64kb/s Sample rate44100 hz.

Can that codec be the problem?
I installed the last version of DIVX but it didn't change anything.

Is there something i can do to correct my file before converting it?

thanks in advance

minion  2002-12-04 22:33:06 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If the Original AVI file is Out of Sync then the Mpeg file will be out of sync, and Correcting Sync problems can be very difficult or even impossible depending on the Type of De-sync you have..If the File is the same amount out of sync the whole way through the movie then it is possible to fix it By useing the "Audio Gap Correct" or Muxing the Mpeg together with a Muxer that supports adjusting the audio Gap like "Mpeg2VCR"...But if the Audio gets progressively out of sync as the Movie goes on then it is very difficult to fix...

lysangelle  2002-12-06 22:09:36 ( ID:whrqtudrlcm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to answer. :)

Finally, out of frustration i just tried to convert it without changing anything. And, don't ask me how or why because i have noooooo idea, but the mpg file resulting is in sync.
And yes, i swear! i wasn't drunk when i tried the avi file! it was really out of sync! ;)

Tahnks again for your answer.

Question - TE25 - mpeg2 problem No.31518
phuong61  2002-12-04 18:23:05 ( ID:gz61fnukoej )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

to Ashy, I had those mpeg2 codec installed into my system but still i got same error "cannot open format or unsupoted

minion  2002-12-04 22:25:19 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you looked in the "Vfapi Plugins" to see if the Mpeg2 decoders are listed there???In the Newer versions you should have either the "Cyberlink" Ligos" or Sony" Mpeg2 decoders listed and in the Older versions there will be a Plugin called "Mpeg2 Codec" or something like that...But if you still cant get it to load Mpeg2 files and you have the proper codecs installed there is only one other thing I can think of that might work is to De-Mux the Mpeg file and just load in the Mpeg video and see if that works...I have found the Tmpgenc decodes Mpeg2 files Quite slowly so you should get Faster Mpeg2 decodeing if you use DVD2AVI to decode the Mpeg2 file....

phuong61  2002-12-05 00:07:54 ( ID:gz61fnukoej )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi, yes I look in the afavi plugin, i saw only direct show that could read mpg files but i still cannot read it. I know i have cyberlink codec install somewhere in the system but did not show in the tmpenc. The mpeg tool working ok but when i use multiplex function the sound is out of sync.

Question - TE25 - Where to put the Temp folder No.31514
Piccolo  2002-12-04 17:46:13 ( ID:maw9qtlmp4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi All

It is recommended "good house keeping" to have separate HDD for video files, this I have for my captured files.

However, in TMPGenc there is an option to select the Temp file folder - by default this is the C:windows emp

I surmise this is not the best place - how does TMPGenc use the temp file - how big can it get? - Is it best to have it on a separate physical drive to the capture disk?

Advice and recommendation son this setting please.

Many thanks

minion  2002-12-04 22:15:26 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I might be wrong But I think the Temp directory is were Tmpgenc stores Info From doing Multi-Pass encodeing and I think it can get up to 4-5gb..

B_Racer  2002-12-05 10:00:23 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Temp-Folder is used for Multipass-Cahcing and for any temporal Information. Also for Muxing. It's a good Idea to put the Temp-Folder to the fastest Drive on your System. And if you are using Multipass-Caching, you need lots auf Discspace.

Piccolo  2002-12-05 10:40:51 ( ID:maw9qtlmp4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Guys

Hmmmmm!!!!

Both my drives pass well on Read/Write testing.

My current arrangement is that I have a multi- partitioned drive that has the OS on one partition and my video application programs on another.

It would seem logical that I allocate as much spare space on this drive (choose partition with plenty of space) because my other drive has my captured files and the old argument it that you do not want the HDD head to be "flying" from sector to sector while handling temporary movements of data.

How have you set up you drives and TMPEGenc "temp" folder?

Thanks again

Question - TE25 - Program error No.31511
jrv331  2002-12-04 14:25:40 ( ID:dnjtwmuuszl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When ever I load a avisynth script into tmpgn I get the following error " tmpgn performed and illegal operation, tmpgnec caused an invalid fault at kernel 32.dll" and the program shuts down. I have the readavi.dll properly loaded and even adjusted the vfpai values several times, but no luck.
This just started happening and I was able to load /encode them before.. I can load a avi with no problem. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program twice, but still no luck. Im using v 2.59 plus.
Thanks
John

minion  2002-12-04 22:12:39 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you tried to Dis-Able the "Direct Show file Reader"..I know if you Just disable the Direct show you can load the AVS file in Tmpgenc without haveing the "ReadAVS.dll" Installed ..Well It works on my System...Useing Virtual Dub as a frameserver seems to Be a Bit faster than AVSYnth files....

jrv331  2002-12-05 01:52:40 ( ID:dnjtwmuuszl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried disabling direct show biut no go. I still had to install the readavs.dll just to be able to load the avs.Im not sure why all of a sudden Im getting these errors.

Thanks
John

When will this bug be solved? Is it allready solved in downloadable version of TMPGenc 2.59?

Besy regards,
Goran

minion  2002-12-04 22:09:39 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It won"t be Fixed Till the Next version is released...But all you need to do is use the Muxer from a Different version to remove the excess Padding...

Goran  2002-12-05 14:15:19 ( ID:1vfc5ue1xmf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yep, i know, but I'm lazy and I don't want any additional steps after encoding. ;-)

Best regards,
Goran

Question - TE25 - How to change audio bit rate??? No.31503
jardae  2002-12-04 08:46:23 ( ID:t5gfs56az3c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, is ther someone who knows how to change audio bit rate (in VCD-PAL project), it's always 224kbps, so if I there is 115kbps in the source, there is no reason to increase it. Many thanks!

minion  2002-12-04 09:36:03 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To Change any of the Settings from the standard VCD template you have to load the "Unlock.mcf" Template from the "Extra" folder..

B_Racer  2002-12-04 10:15:25 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's not necessary to use Unlock.mcf.
Simply klick on Setting -> Audio -> Bitrate (klick on the WORD Bitrate!) -> Unlock.

That's all ;)

Question - TE25 - How do i get vcd's to play in vcd compatible dvd players? No.31499
juniorblaze  2002-12-04 07:13:33 ( ID:hjtoenfjlfa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

tell me what i need to do get vcd compatible dvd players to play vcd's.

minion  2002-12-04 10:01:33 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I dont really know what you mean..All you need is a VCD to play a VCD in a VCD compatible Player..I"ll try to read your mind and assume that you made a VCD but your DVD Player will not Play it???This can be caused from a number of things But it usually has to do with how you made the VCD..First you need to burn it with a program that is Designed fot Burning VCD"s in VCD Format. You can"t just Burn a Mpeg file on a Disk and have it play..Another reason could be that the Mpeg file is not VCD Compliant..If I"m off base Please explain your Question more Clearly...

carpless  Home )  2002-12-04 13:33:27 ( ID:cgx3nbhwwxm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think it is propably down to your dvd player... provided you have burnt the mpg after converting it to a suitable vcd mpeg format and burnt it as a vcd in a program such as Nero... A lot of dvd players say they play VCD's but do not due to not being multi region players... a multi region player is best solution if you have burnt the disc right. Get one from http://overclockers.co.uk

ASHY  2002-12-05 13:47:33 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

>A lot of dvd players say they play VCD's but do not due to not being multi region players... a multi region player is best solution if you have burnt the disc right

What?
How did u arrive at that conclusion?
Whether your DVD player is multi region or not should have no bearing whatsoever on it's capability for playing compatible VCD's.

As long as you use the correct framerate and framesizes when encoding and then use a suitable VCD burning program, the VCD should play fine, unless it doesn't read CDR's. This is the problem with most DVD players which state they can handle VCD's, but won't play them. They can, but only pre-recorded VCD's not the home made variety.
Sometimes this can be solved by using CDRW instead of CDR as a lot of these players will accept CDRW, but not CDR.

Question - TE25 - Wide Screen to Fullscreen without boarders No.31497
jf_sly  2002-12-04 03:57:49 ( ID:celrmnzlfck )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My original .avi file is in widescreen format. Even though I select the "No Margin - keep aspect ratio" on the advanced tab under the video settings, the encoded mpeg file is still in widescreen format. I even tried the "full screen - keep aspect ration" setting and got the same result - a wide screen file. How do I get TMPGEnc to give me a full screen file (without borders?

jf_sly

minion  2002-12-04 09:55:41 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure you the the aspect ratio set to 4:3 and go into the "Clip Frame" settings in the "Advanced settings" and there you should be able to Manipulate the frame so it looks full screen....
