Question - TE25 - Audio/Video out of synch - one more time No.36541
Tomas  2003-04-25 18:15:16 ( ID:w9nioantxtg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I know there are hundreds discussions already about this problem but I still have few questions on the issue.

Here is the process:
1. The DV file is captured using the Scenalizer tool
2. I edit the AVI file using the Ulead Media Studio Pro (6.0 or 7.0)
3. Once completed I create the new AVI file (in standard NTSC format)
4. I'll take the AVI file and process it through the TMPGEnc configured to produce the HQ DVD file. I use ES (video+audio) option of the encoder to produce separate m2v and mp2 file. My Audio Engine is set to use Toolame.exe program and the Sampling Frequency Convertor is pointing the SSRC. The Audio settings are set to 48000 (sampling frequency) and 224 (bitrate). Now during the first phase of the TMPGEnc run it extracts the audio data from the AVI file. Since I'm using the Toolame.exe the first produced is the .WAV file which is then converted into the MP2 file. The WAV file is created in the Temporary folder and I copy it for future use (this way at the end I have MP2 file as well as the WAV file stored).
5. I'll take the WAV file (or MP2) and run it through the BeeSweet to create the AC3 audio file.
6. Finally I use the Ulead Movie Factory authoring software to combine all this together. And here is the problem the VIDEO is OUT OF SYNC with AUDIO. Audio is too fast by a second or so.

I looked at the video and audio file length and they differ by 5ms. So it would suggest that I should be able to delay the Audio (in BeeSweet) by 5ms and everything should be great. Well this is not the case. I need to set the delay to about 2500ms in order to get the picture and sound in sync. Any idea why?
I'm looking for some more settle solution then just try and error Eit took me few hours to find out correct delay time. Also since the reported length of the files seems to vary depending on the software I use it is quite difficult to nail it down.

Can anyone suggest anything to solve the problem or make it easier?

You need to isolate where the mismatch is being introduced. Mux the m2v/mp2 and check if it is out of sync in a software player.

Extract a WAV from the original AVI and compare its length and waveform offset to the toolame intermediate file. (Use the audio editor that comes with Media Studio Pro.)

Unless the audio is some kind of ultra high fidelity acoustic instrumental or you have overrun a file size limit, stick with the mp2 audio if that works.

Minion  2003-04-25 21:06:42 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have had Many Instances of Encodeing to AC3 and had the audio go out of sync and decodeing from AC3 to Wav has caused the same Sync Problem, so Now I use a Different AC3 audio encoder which seems to have solved the Problem, I use Vegas Video 4/DVD Architect to encode the audio to AC3, or Soft encode but Vegas seems to be faster, it is also a Beter Video editor and has a Good Mpeg Encoder...There is also a Plugin that will let you encode From the Timeline in "Media Studio 6/7" directly into Tmpgenc or another encoder like CCE, From what I hear the Ulead Video server Plugin is Fairly fast and works Pretty Good and it will save Time and Quality cuz you won"t have to make an intermediate AVI file to load into Tmpgenc....

>5. I'll take the WAV file (or MP2) and run it through the BeeSweet to create the AC3 audio file.

What is the point in creating an Mp2 audio file if you are going to encode it to AC3 anyway?

>I'm looking for some more settle solution then just try and error Eit took me few hours to find out correct delay time

There is a simple way which I use all the time and is very accurate.
Simply download VirtualDub-MPEG2-AC3

Either load the muxed M2V and MP2 or load your M2V and then load your Wav audio. Choose Interleaving from the audio menu and change the delay settings.

Once you are happy with the value you have set then simply save the Wav or use the same value in Besweet.

Tomas  2003-04-26 02:51:50 ( ID:op5zoqj4ama )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you for all suggestions but the problem still exists.

While using the VirtualDub-MPEG2-AC3 the sound is perfectly in sync.

Then I tried something different. I opend Ulead Media Studio Pro and loaded the m2v file created by TMPGEnc. Then I added the AC3 file created by BeeSweet and play the video. Everything is in sync. Then I replaced the AC3 file with a WAV file created by Toolame and all is in sync as well. I'm CONFUSED...

Next I tried to author the project I did the last night and IT IS OUT OF SYNC again (even though I'm using the AC3 file that is already delayed and it used to work).

At this point I start blaming the Ulead DVD Movie Factory. Possible?

Ashy  2003-04-26 11:19:03 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As a test, Mux the M2V and the AC3 together with TMPG then play it to see if it's in sync.

If it's ok then download IFOEDIT (which is free) and use it to author the VOBs from the M2V and the AC3.
Select, DVD Author>Author New DVD from the menu.

Use Nero to burn the VOBs to disk.

Question - TE25 - what is the password to extract the zip files? No.36537
dave  2003-04-25 17:42:05 ( ID:uowzzk0d7l6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i no this is probably a stupid question but i cant find anywhere the pass word to unzip the files. please help!!!

Ashy  2003-04-25 17:43:07 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is no pass word. What are you talking about? Where did you download the file?

DAVE  2003-04-25 18:09:26 ( ID:uowzzk0d7l6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i downloaded the file from this site. when i try to extract the files it says they are paaword protected. how can i open them???

Ashy  2003-04-25 21:02:59 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You are mistaken, the files are not and have never been password protected.

My advice is to uninstall whatever software you are using to unzip the files and download Winrar.

Question - TE25 - No Audio No.36532
Octagon  2003-04-25 13:47:10 ( ID:8atfyruo8eo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have converted an XVID to mpeg in the hope of making it VCD.
The VCD plays but has no sound.
I know it uses the AC3 audio format but I converted the audio to Wav before I converted to MPEG.
I used Virtual Dub and the tutorial at dvdrelp.com.
help please :(

Octagon  2003-04-25 13:49:59 ( ID:8atfyruo8eo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried again but got an error
"write erroe occured at address 00401C9F of module TMPGENC.exe with 05791A04"

Minion  2003-04-25 21:21:23 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Then use something else to encode the Wav file to Mpeg1-Layer2 audio, then just Mux the audio with the Mpeg Video file, There are Lots of Programs that can do it, I use "Headac3he" Cuz it is Very High Quality But it is Quite slow..

Uncle R  2003-04-26 07:23:55 ( ID:fx7du2vxtva )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to convert a DIVX AVI to MPG1 and I get no sound at all. I've tried everything I can think of including rendering the whole thing in the Microsoft Movie Maker (so it's not DIVX but straight AVI) and then using that as the sound source.

I'm considering buying the full on package but don't want to if I can't even get sound from my files.

Minion  2003-04-26 08:02:00 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Doing what you are Doing isn"t going to get it done, and No Quality Mpeg encoder that I know of can decode AC3 audio so if you can"t figure out how to Extract the audio to wav audio then you won"t be Makeing Any VCD"s with Any encoder, and Downloaded Movies aren"t really meant to be Made into Mpeg files, If they were they would have a more compatible Audio Format...What you need to do is Load your Source File into something Like "Virtual Dub" and use it to extract the audio to Wav format, then Just load the Wav file into Tmpgenc and encode it to Mpeg audio then Mux the Mpeg audio with the Mpeg video that you have from when you encoded the File the First time and ended up with no audio..Or you can use a seperate Audio encoder to Encode the Wav file to Mpeg and Mux it with the Video....

Question - TE25 - Convert from WMV file suddenly stop ?! No.36526
Sembako  2003-04-25 09:45:00 ( ID:rx7/g0g.t36 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have WMV file 20MB and want to make MPG. But After 20% progress, the process suddenly stop, and the TMPGEnc program like hang.

Any solutions ?

Sembako

Minion  2003-04-25 21:19:02 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your WMV file Probably has an error in the File at the Point were it Freezes up, You can try to fix any errors in the File by useing a Program called "ASF Fix", it will make a New file while Correcting any errors in the File which should allow Tmpgenc to encode the Whole File...Because WMV/ASF Files are so Highly Compressed they are Very Prone to Errors caused by the High Compression and Usually this Program can help fix them, you can find it ona search engine like Google...But alas some files just can"t seem to be encoded, if this seems to be the case with this file you can try Uncompressing it to Raw AVI and encodeing that, you won"t loose Quality but you will need a Very Large Hard drive....

Question - TE25 - Sound is half speed No.36524
MIe  2003-04-25 09:31:07 ( ID:wtyff2yagjl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I make mpg's from my dv-avi's, sometimes the sound is half-speed. Then I
copy the avi from dv-cmera again, and make mpg again and all is fine?!!

Any solutions?

Mie

Minion  2003-04-25 21:11:26 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You could allways extract the audio from your DV files to WAV then use the Wav file as the audio source, This will probably fix your problem, Or you can just use a Totally seperate Program to encode the audio....

Hi!

About crashing TNPGenc, check if you have divXAF.ax file(AntiFreeze) in windows/system32 folder, just delete or rename it. It will help immediately.
That file came with Nimo Codec pack. You can use the pack, just uncheck the AntiFreeze option.

Hope this help.

Mie

Question - TE25 - Language Settings for playback No.36521
Richard  2003-04-25 02:33:24 ( ID:8yfrh0k0y/a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 and I tried ripping my first DVD tonight. Everything was fine until I came to playback. The DVD plays in English by default, however when I ripped it, it seems to have copied the Spanish soundtrack. Not being able to speak spanish this is somewhat frustrating. I am hoping that there is a straight forward solution to this problem. I have searched every menu I could find and was unable to find the language settings. I would appreciate anyones help with this.

Ashy  2003-04-25 17:48:01 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you have been foolish enough and used TMPG to encode this DVD directly then it is no wonder you have this problem.
Time and time again we tell people NOT to use TMPG to directly encode from VOBS.
If you want the answer how to solve post back.

Question - TE25 - When titles play they skip and audio beeps No.36520
DieTrying  2003-04-25 02:10:41 ( ID:bqwrxsewkk2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I encoded an AVI file with titles in the beginning in adobe premiere. When encoded and played on a DVD player the titles dont fade right and the audio kinda sqeeks. If I put titles over video though everything works fine. Its like TMPEG has a problem with black video. Or video with no color??? any ideas?

I have the free trial version and after I am done encoding, the file has no video yet has only the audio. Any ehlp would be appreciated.

Minion  2003-04-25 02:26:17 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try this, go to "Options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the "Direct Show MultiMedia File Reader" to "2"...You have to see your Movie slowly playing in the Tmpgenc screen for there to be an image in the File..

Question - TE25 - SVCD Playback Problem No.36512
frankc  2003-04-24 18:42:41 ( ID:9zzjyxsqw3l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've seen this question asked but am still having problems with playback on my DVD of mpeg2 svcd. I have an avi I created at 640x480 NTSC 29.97 fps. I encoded it in tmpg and burned to cd using VCD Easy. It looks and sounds great except that I have to play it back in my DVD player at 2x speed. Actually it plays a little fast. I have made certain I'm encoding with interlaced frames, NTSC format etc. and have tried dropping my bitrate. Regardless of bitrate, frame size etc I still get the same results. My DVD player definitely plays VCD's. BTW, the DVD player I'm using is a Panasonic unit for my television, not a player on my computer.

What am I missing? It has to be something simple in the setup I'm missing but I have now spent three weeks encoding and burning this thing in every combination of options I can and I get the same results almost everytime.

Thanks for your help.

Minion  2003-04-24 20:40:19 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you sure that your Player Plays SVCD"s???? And You Can not use Mpeg files with 640+480 to Burn as SVCD"s so I hope you are encodeing the 640+480 AVI files to 480+480 Mpeg2 files...And if your DVD Player is supposed to Play SVCD"s but it isn"t there Could be something wrong with your DVD Player...

frankc  2003-04-25 00:41:15 ( ID:9zzjyxsqw3l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, I am encoding from 640x480 avi to 480x480 mpeg2 SVCD. And yes, my player plays VCDs. It even has an VCD indicator light that comes on when I play the CD. I even took a copy of this to Best Buy last week and played it in one of their top of the line DVD players and it's the same problem.

Minion  2003-04-25 02:22:48 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I said "SVCD" not VCD"s, Because your DVD Player Plays VCD"s doesn"t mean that it plays SVCD"s, Players that Play SVCD"s are somewhat rare compared to Players that Play VCD"s,Actually Not that Many of the Big name Brands actually support SVCD"s in Many of there Players, ..This would Explain Why you are Haveing Problems, The structure of VCD and SVCD are different and the Disk has to spin 2-3 times faster in players that Play SVCD"s as opposed to ones that Play VCD"s, so the DVD Players have to have a faster Drive in them and that Is probably why there isn"t as many DVD Players that Play SVCD"s...

frankc  2003-04-25 02:49:20 ( ID:9zzjyxsqw3l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Minion, you are exactly right! I dug out the manual for my DVD player and sure enough it DOES NOT PLAY SVCD. It does however play regular VCD. I then encoded my avi into the 352x240 VCD and it works!

I think my next step in the future is to install a DVD burner in my computer and go for top of the line burning for my movies.

Thanks for your help.

Question - TE25 - no audio only video No.36509
dank22  2003-04-24 10:28:01 ( ID:pdchyur.kdj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

some divx files i rip have only video but not audio when i rip them. Anyone have the answer?

dank22  2003-04-24 10:48:22 ( ID:pdchyur.kdj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Only certain divx files too. and theyre all of the same series. (i.e Naruto DIVX files). Can anyone help? thanks

Minion  2003-04-24 20:31:13 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is No "Ripping" Involved in encodeing DivX/Avi files to Mpeg, "Ripping" Usually involves Takeing something that is On a Disk like a DVD or a CD and "Ripping" it to your Hard drive...Now to Your Problem, The Problem is Because the audio in Some DivX and XviD files is AC3 and Tmpgenc does not Support AC3 audio, You need to extract the audio from the DivX files to Wav audio files then use the Wav files as the audio source, You can do this with "Virtual Dub"....
