Question - TAW4 - English Audio Track No.64711
mbreslin1954  2011-05-12 14:22:51 ( ID:bedjm/xhfd2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Downloaded and installed trial of TAW4, ripped my BD with AnyDVD, got lots of files. There are 2 large files, both 1 hr. 57 min. long, one is movie, other is movie with commentary. The commentary version of the movie is in english, however the main movie file is in French! I assume there is an English audio soundtrack, but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get at it. Can anyone help me?

tkrave  2011-05-13 05:13:50 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've done some tests and here's what I found.
There doesn't seem to be any way to select which audio track to import when importing BD video clips. It's possible with DVD-Video, but not with Blu-rays.

These are my finding using a BD .m2ts file with 2 audio tracks:
When importing the Blu-ray .m2ts file, it typically imports the first audio track.
I've also found that if I use the Advanced Tools' MPEG Tool Demultiplexer (Start stage-->Advanced Tools-->MPEG Tool-->Demultiplexer) and I select the .m2ts file, it will demultiplex the second audio stream! I can then import the resulting .m2v and .ac3 files as a clip.

I'm not sure what will happen if there are more than 2 audio tracks.

Unfortunately, the MPEG tools are disabled in the trial version, so I don't think you'll be able to test that out.

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 (their video encoding software) can properly select audio/subtitle tracks from BD video just like DVD-Video, so hopefully that will eventually make it into TAW4.

mbreslin1954  2011-05-14 03:47:08 ( ID:bedjm/xhfd2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So is there any reason why I would not want to buy Video Mastering Works 5 instead of TAW4? I mean, for what I'm trying to do, which is to edit commercial blu-ray discs? They're the same price.

tkrave  2011-05-14 07:28:15 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since Video Mastering Works 5 is not authoring software, you will not be able to create DVD/Blu-ray menus nor will you be able to burn to DVD/BD.

If you're not planning on burning to disc, then it might be a good fit for your needs.

mbreslin1954  2011-05-14 11:50:11 ( ID:bedjm/xhfd2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, I think it would be a better fit. I don't think I'll be burning anything. The recordable disks are too expensive, and I've got enough space on my server to hold the edited copies. I don't plan to be handing these out to anyone, just using at home what I paid for. Thanks!

tkrave  2011-05-17 04:58:27 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In that case, I recommend trying the demo for Video Mastering Works 5 just to make sure it can do what you want and that it works with your files.

TVMW5 also has a much more sophisticated editing system if you choose the timeline project option. The only thing you might miss that is in TAW4 (besides menus and burning) is Smart Rendering; TVMW5 will re-encode everything you put into it, so if you have a DVD compliant video clip, it will re-encode the entire clip even if you are outputting in the same format with the same settings.

Question - TAW4 - Can I Edit Commercial BluRays? No.64706
mbreslin1954  2011-05-12 09:01:09 ( ID:bedjm/xhfd2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an old version of TMPGEnc, Author v1.6. I used to use to edit DVDs, and now that I have Blurays I was wondering if "Authoring Works 4" will allow me to do the same thing. I need to edit offensive crap out of some of the BDs that I own, so my kids can see them. I already have copyright stripped off (Anydvd). Will this version work as well as DVD Author v1.6 did? Thanks for any help you can provide.

tkrave  2011-05-12 10:32:08 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I believe it is possible since you stripped the copy protection. If you can import the video, you'll be able to cut any scenes you want. You might want to try the free trial to make sure your blu-ray files will work.

mbreslin1954  2011-05-12 10:40:00 ( ID:bedjm/xhfd2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks! I'm trying it now, although a lot of functionality seems to be disabled. Hopefully enough remains to see if it will do what I want.

Do you know if it handles 5.1 audio, or will I need to buy an add-on, like I did with the 1.6 version when I had to buy an AC3 package?

tkrave  2011-05-13 03:14:32 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It supports Dolby Digital 5.1 input and output.
None of the current TMPGEnc software requires a plug-in for AC3 support; it's built into all of the programs now.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - sound quality No.64704
LadyTaz  2011-05-12 02:45:22 ( ID:zz7rnrpfpn6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5.0.5.32
When I use the Divx with the Advanced Acoustic MP3 Encoder,
the picture turns out great, but the sound quality is terrible.
I can barely hear the sound.
I see no way to adjust the sound in the format mode.
In format mode if I choose Divx, it does give me a choice to audio encoders.
Can anyone tell me if and how to fix this problem?
Thank you

tkrave  2011-05-12 04:10:42 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What is your source file's video and audio format?

You may also want to download the latest version of TVMW5 (released today); if it's a program error, it might have been fixed.

Question - TAW4 - can you delete menu thumbnails No.64698
Brookes  Home )  2011-05-10 20:21:29 ( ID:baf6lqbbvea )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi guys, any way of deleting the crappy menu thumbnails. I simply want to create full screen motion menu looping which I can do easily but I wish to have no thumbnails at all< I simply want to put in two seperate text words that are buttons, seems near impossible to create anything, please tell me the taw 4 is not for 2 year olds now. I import my timeline and then i create custom menu. I dont want anything on menu other than a couple of buttons which link to the start of the timeline and another that links to the timeline about 7 minutes in. Any help please. Rob

tkrave  2011-05-11 02:10:18 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In the custom menu wizard, just choose text options for your top and track menus instead of those with thumbnails. I think all the layouts that end in "(D)" are text only layouts.

Sounds like you should do Track menu only and make chapter points for the beginning and 7 minute mark of your video.

Question - TAW4 - IMPORT PHOTOS IN VIDEO TO MAKE DVD No.64690
leeestrada  2011-05-09 05:52:27 ( ID:q0bunh7p5lj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How do you overlay / import a jpg to show during the video. I have recorded a party and have some stills I would like to intermittantly have show up.

tkrave  2011-05-10 02:31:54 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can't overlay an image over a video in this program; what you can do is cut/transition to the jpg and then cut/transition back to your video. You would need to split your video clip where you want the jpg to appear. Splitting the clip will result in two clips. Next, import the jpg as its own clip and then move it between your split clips. You can then add a transition effect if you wish.

Overlaying videos/images over other videos/images is currently only possible in TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5.

Request - TAW4 - Menu making No.64676
twillard  2011-05-05 02:02:47 ( ID:a6ozlkbvpu6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've selected the movies that I want to put on a DVD & then I go to menu making. What I want is that when I put my DVD in the player, that it goes to the menu and not start playing the first movie automatically. I made my menu up and it shows the menu just like I want it to be. But when I put the DVD in the player, it does show the menu, but goes right into the first move. If I go into the DVD player menu and pick title, it goes to the menu that I want to show up when I insert DVD. I've been fighting this for a more than few hours now & getting tired of restarting this process over & over. Thank you for any help.

tkrave  2011-05-05 02:23:35 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is a setting for that in a few places.

If using the Menu Wizard, template mode, it's the third screen ("DVD-Video playback settings"). There is a box titled "Disc insertion action". Choose "Display the top menu".

If you're creating a custom menu, it's the fourth screen.

If you've already created a menu, in the Menu Stage's main window, click on the "DVD-Video global menu settings" button in upper left corner. The disc insertion action setting is at the bottom of the settings window that will appear.

Request - TVMW5 BBS - allow all popup messages to be disabled No.64675
st14  2011-05-04 13:16:21 ( ID:kyk9bk/v23h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There are many popups in tmpgenc that cannot be disabled. Please add option to for every popup to be disabled.

Examples:

Closing main applications always asks:
"Project is not saved. Save?"

Removing clip from "edit" tab asks:
"You are about to delete clip. Are you sure?"

Removing job from batch window asks:
"Removes the selected batch processing. Do you want?"

For people who use your program often, it's very very annoying having to click on these popups all the time. Please add checkbox option to each box to not ask again.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Windows Handles grow without bound No.64673
bga123  2011-05-03 22:49:51 ( ID:jibxywan2v6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 seems to have a memory leak in that the longer it runs on Windows-7 64-bit the more Windows handles it consumes growing without bounds.

Is this a recognized issue by Pegasys and secondly, if it is are then plans to release a patch?

If not, how can I get my TMPGEnc v4 license re-enabled as t his version did not exhibit the problem.

tkrave  2011-05-05 02:14:48 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What version are you using?

bga123  2011-07-11 10:31:42 ( ID:jibxywan2v6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Question - TAW4 - Sub-titles No.64671
Hooley  2011-05-03 08:53:51 ( ID:kud2ynlprck )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How do I include a sub-title without getting the set-up button added to the menu?

Hooley  2011-05-03 09:35:56 ( ID:kud2ynlprck )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No major drama - finally found the answer in DVD-Videoglobal menu settings under Item Display. Only wanted to put in a "To be continued on Disc 2" notation on screen.

Request - TVMW5 BBS - better save format profile No.64656
johnny  2011-05-01 15:53:20 ( ID:kyk9bk/v23h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For "formats" there is option to save custom template profile. The problem is that there should be an option for video resolution and video framerate to use original video specification.

A user may want to save other settings but keep original resolution and frame rate for conversion. The way it is right now, if user selects custom saved profile, they have to manually set resolution every time.

The built in templates such as "mpeg file output" or "avi file output" already have this feature and will use original resolution. Please add option so that save custom templates also have that feature.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Custom FPS No.64655
karadur  2011-05-01 12:41:20 ( ID:xu.xauigxcw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there any way that I can enter a custom FPS in video encoding section. I have a video file which is 27 FPS and there no selection available for 27 FPS under any codec. Selecting any other FPS will causes audio video sync.
