I can't seem to find any description of the differences in v6.2.7.34. What's new? Where should we look for change logs?

Thanks

Question - TVMW6 - DNXHD + HR Formats No.70996
Mike  2018-04-11 17:37:19 ( ID:8idg3eh89b. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

If I import videos with DNXHD or DNXHR format like with 10, 12 or 14Bit, it works but in the Import Dialog I can see only 8Bit.
Does TMPGEnc this downsampling and use 8bit after import or its only a bug from the Importing Screen?

Question - TVMW6 - ProRes 422 No.70995
Tractormatt  2018-04-11 03:22:55 ( ID:etpk2rbswzl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have Apple ProRes 422 audio and video formats recorded. I tried to encode them to mpegII formats. When the encoding is done, I have the video, but no audio. Any suggestions or anyone have the same problems? Thanks

Mike  2018-04-11 17:40:43 ( ID:8idg3eh89b. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do you have audio in the preview window?
Which audio settings you are using in your encoding profile?

tractormatt  2018-04-13 04:52:49 ( ID:etpk2rbswzl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes audio is in the preview window and it plays through preview fine, just post encode it doesn't work. Audio settings are: MPEG 1 Audio Layer 2. 48khz, stereo, 224 bit rate.

Question - TMSR5 - Why can't I output MP4 with MP4 input? No.70992
Baffled  2018-04-09 04:28:56 ( ID:j8majifa/ta )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to trim several MP4 files, all created the same way with the same software. With most of them, Smart Renderer 5 allows me to output the trimmed file back to MP4 format, but some of them it insists on outputting them as MPEG2 /.ts format!

Why is this happening? The ONLY operation I perform on these files is to trim their length, usually both at the beginning and at the end. I'm not changing anything else. So why can't I output all of these files as MP4 format?

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks!

What happens if you just select MP4 as the output target?

Question - TVMW6 - Notebook recommendation for MP4 hardware encoding No.70988
DWBNStreaming  2018-04-05 07:00:46 ( ID:jufap.mixzk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

I need a specific recommendation for a notebook suitable for hardware MP4 encoding supported by TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 6

I am doing a lot of encoding of the same material in different bitrates VOD and sometimes it takes 3 hours per video with an average length of 2.5 hours.

Thanx,
DWBN Streaming

Question - TAW6 - TMPGEnc AW6 chapter names No.70987
catch49  2018-04-04 21:29:06 ( ID:mujjhez/r.h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

very impressed by the features and stability of AW6 but would appreciate tips on how to auto display original imported video file names as chapter names (with or without thumbnails)
an example of this feature is found in the MULTIAVCHD package.
thanks

tkrave  2018-04-05 12:48:51 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can change the default chapter name in the Preferences and clicking on "Project General Settings." Click on the down arrow button next to the text box for Chapter Label and you can select the clip name as the default chapter name. You can also auto-add a number after the name as well.

Question - TVMW6 - Change default template settings No.70982
Andreas  2018-03-25 20:30:17 ( ID:wsxor3ycxv. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
is it possible to change the default template settings? When i use mp4 output i want to use CBR instead VBR and other changes.
When i save a template, it only save the resolution and framerate. Or is it possible to create an own template without resolution and framerate, and it takes that values from the video? Other programs have options like "same as input file", but i dont find such an option here.

Regards,
Andreas

tkrave  2018-03-27 13:51:51 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After you select a template, you can change pretty much any setting you want unless it's a format that has specific specifications like DVD or Blu-ray. You can also click on the "MPEG Advanced Settings" button to make even more changes to the settings.

When you save a template, it should save all of your changes. This is how it works for me at least.

There is no "same as input file" option that I am aware of.

Question - TAW6 - Timecode layer No.70978
Yuitz  2018-03-15 18:25:07 ( ID:i23lpavlebg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, anyone know how to ADD a timecode layer (embedded timecode) on top of the video track?

Can you adjust TC format? I wish I could set it as Avid does - HH:MM:SS:FF

Thanks

tkrave  2018-03-16 15:04:00 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can use a subtitle stream to display timecode.

Go to the Source Stage, double click on your clip (you will have to do it for each clip) to open the clip editor window.
Click on Subtitle Edit.
Click on "Add" to add a subtitle to the subtitle stream. This opens the Subtitle Text Edit window.
Check the box for "Import Metadata" and then click on the "Quote Data" button and click Source Duration.
This will automatically add a code to the text box and the timecode should appear on the preview pane.
By default, only HH:MM:SS are displayed. You can add frames by adding ":{SourceTime_F2}" to the code in the text box.
Unfortunately, the frame data does not reset for each second, so it just continues to go higher and higher, increasing in digits and showing the total number of frames.

Question - TAW6 - How to delete the default title of a menu page? No.70976
tvogel  2018-03-14 07:49:32 ( ID:bxf/17fh82g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How can I delete the default title of a menu page? I don´t need it.

tkrave  2018-03-14 13:10:28 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As long as it's text based, you can just delete the text (This should be true for the top and track menus). If it's part of the background image, you won't be able to delete it, but you can cover it up by putting an image on top of it (audio/note/subtitle/popup menus can have the title as part of the background image).

I thought for sure that Authoring Works 6 would be 4k-capable. If it is I can't tell that it is. Using TMPGEnc suite of tools how is it possible to AUTHOR 4k content?

tkrave  2018-12-27 07:48:19 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TAW6 does not seem to be able to output 4k content, but it can import 4k footage from XAVC S and maybe other formats.

They will probably add 4k output to TAW7. They recently released Video Mastering Works 7 in Japan, so Authoring Works 7 will probably be the next thing they work on. This is all just speculation on my part though.

Bug report - TVMW6 - Reading Incorrect frame rate No.70968
gbmiller  2018-02-09 10:41:47 ( ID:ecysd5efz/. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

when loading h264 video only, video mastering works 5 and 6 both report the frame rate as 47.952 fps when it is actually 23.976, other programs correctly report the correct frame rate ie. EyeFrame converter, I am just trying to mux with audio.

Thank you

Question - TVMW6 - Sharpening & downscaling order No.70967
benoitm  2018-02-08 18:38:19 ( ID:ssxulmeekwr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi
I am revisiting this topic (https://bbs.pegasys-inc.com/bbs/list/lang/en/board/TVMW5/keyword/sharpness/topic/70095#topic70095) because I am still confronted to the problem.
The issue is that I found out that rescaling to a lower raster size (downsampling) a somewhat soft 1080 video results in a too soft SD video; one might think (hope) that downscaling would recover some of the sharpness -- NOT ! it is propagating it...(there are good explanations about the reasons on the Internet).

I assume Lanczos yields the best sharpness in downsampling, correct ?

So I wonder what would be the best filter order:
First add some sharpening (e.g. contour) then scale down
or
First scale down then add some sharpening.

Of course this is assuming that the downscaling is happening at the "Picture Resize" filter stage, so the Contour filter can be placed before or after it; but is this a correct assumption ? When does rescaling exactly happening with TVMW6 ? At the "Picture resize" filter stage, or later on (i.e. ALWAYS after the Filter stage) ?

Any other suggestion to enhance the apparent sharpness of the SD video when scaling down a somewhat soft HD clip ?

benoitm  2018-09-25 21:41:14 ( ID:ssxulmeekwr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible for someone from Pegasys to chime in and confirm (or explain) the order of processing for resizing and other filters ?

benoitm  2020-06-03 19:28:14 ( ID:bqo2o.1l24f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I guess I'm still waiting for an answer here...
"Is it possible for someone from Pegasys to chime in and confirm (or explain) the order of processing for resizing and other filters ?"

Understanding the order of processing for "resize" and "contour" (or any other sharpening filter) is important for the final result

tkrave  2020-07-07 06:21:24 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

From the help file:

>The filtering process will be applied from the top to the bottom in the order of the filter list.

There are also some restrictions to the order:
>The [Deinterlace], [Picture Resize] and [Speed] filters cannot be removed from the filter list as by default, they are used for video processing by TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 6.
>The [Picture Resize] and [Mask] filters cannot be placed above the [Crop] filter.
>The [Crop], [Subtitles], [Paint] and [Perspective Correction] filters cannot be placed above the [Panorama Expand] filter.
