Question - TVMW5 BBS - Can you apply filter only to a portion of the video No.68432
Gene Ariani  2014-04-14 06:46:36 ( ID:f26/7jfl7lg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to apply filters to only a portion of the video? In the timeline view only limited number of filters are available.

Thanks

tkrave  2014-04-15 07:27:45 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use the split-clip function to isolate the section you want to apply the filter to, then either:

1) move that section to a new layer and apply the filter to that layer, or
2) apply the filter in the clip editing window.

Thanks tkrave. I will try as you suggested

Question - TVMW5 BBS - automatic video template output No.68431
dblue  2014-04-13 07:43:14 ( ID:mildalq7lec )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what i mean by automatic is when you put a video file into the timeline "TS" file. when you go to output the file it will make the "TS" file with all my edits and not lose any quality. VideoReDo TVSuite V4 does this but it doesn't have a great editing.

tkrave  2014-04-15 07:39:13 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You're talking about lossless editing or "smart rendering". TVMW5 is made for encoding, so everything that goes in will be re-encoded at output.

TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 and TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4 have lossless editing functionality but are limited to specific video formats. You might want to try TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4.

Question - TAW5 BBS - No Disk Verification function in this program? No.68417
Gazza  2014-04-06 09:35:42 ( ID:yifs7e5flga )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Guys
I was just wondering if anyone can tell me why there is no verification function that the disk is an exact copy of the data. I encode with this program but choose to burn with another as it verifies the disk is correctly burned. Seems strange for a program of this caliber or am I missing something? Thanks
Gazza

Question - TAW5 BBS - Button Text No.68416
Lisa  2014-04-06 00:41:09 ( ID:evake.hna/f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello TMPGEng friends, I'd like to change the text on buttons. Currently they read 'play' & 'chapter'. How do I customize a button? Thank you in advance.
Lisa

tkrave  2014-04-08 08:05:57 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can't edit the pre-made buttons because they are images, not editable text. You can import your own images to use as buttons or create text buttons with the Custom Menu editor (choose to create a custom menu instead of from a template).

Question - TVMW5 BBS - .MXF files? No.68410
Eduardo Castelan  2014-04-01 20:14:00 ( ID:cxfjkwqk/zj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The "TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5" works with files captured in. MXF with Sony Vegas?
I bought a "Intensity Pro - Blackmagic Design" card and would like to use it to capture with Sony Vegas and encode with TMPGEnc! Is it possible?

Thanks.

tkrave  2014-04-04 08:07:22 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think mxf files will work in TVMW5 according to the specifications.

Question - TAW5 BBS - Wont read avi files - just get a whole lot of lines No.68399
Gazza  2014-03-26 10:39:04 ( ID:yifs7e5flga )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
Can anyone tell me why when I try to import any avi file to make a dvd, all I get is a whole lot of jagged lines where you should be able to preview the file. This does not happen with any other format such as mp4, mkv, etc. So effectively I can't make a dvd out of any of my avi files as the program wont read them properly. I would appreciate anyone's help with this thanks.
Gazza

tkrave  2014-03-27 08:39:45 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You may not have the correct codec installed.
AVI is a container format, so the video and audio can be in any format and you may not have the right codec installed on your computer.
You can use a program like MediaInfo to find out what format your audio/video is in and what codec you need.

Can the video be played in Windows Media Player? If so, then you should have the codec installed already. TAW5 will use the same codecs that Windows Media Player uses.

You can try using a different file reader in TAW5.
When selecting your file from the Source Wizard, you can "force" a different file reader in the drop-down menu on the bottom right side of the window.
Try the DirectShow file reader, the Media Foundation file reader, or the AVI file reader. TAW5 was probably using one of those by default, so one of the other ones might work better.

Thanks heaps tkrave!! You are a legend!! I never knew that menu existed lol. I chose direct show as it was the only one of the 3 you mentioned that worked and its all good!!
Thanks again for helping me

Request - TMSR4 - Why no subtitle support? No.68394
George  2014-03-25 23:07:01 ( ID:o5vrz/ceazn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is the only major problem with SR4, the lack of subtitle support for DVD and Blu-Ray. Please consider adding it, currently the software feels crippled when dealing with discs.

Steve B  2014-08-19 23:20:33 ( ID:yp5gdwbu2lo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I heartily agree with you. It's a glaring omission. (Have you found an alternative solution, by the way?)

kbaerwald  2015-01-02 19:28:43 ( ID:ovjnsgimx7r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

obviously there is still no subtitling possible - shame on TMPGEnc. I currently run VSRip for extraction of subs and use mkvmerge to add subs manually to the "done" mkv! What a waste of time!

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Transparent Video Supported? No.68392
DPCrawley  2014-03-25 05:31:35 ( ID:i1qxkgkdgho )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wanted to use an animation I made in After Effects that has a transparent background for a project in TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 but the background isn't transparent when I import the video. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it just not supported?

tkrave  2014-03-26 06:55:12 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think it's supported for videos with transparency.
However, images with transparency can be imported if I remember correctly.

DPCrawley  2014-03-26 10:58:01 ( ID:i1qxkgkdgho )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeah I don't think it's supported either but just wanted to make sure.

Question - TAW5 BBS - "I want"-Feature: author BluRay with DTS Sound.! No.68388
I Wanter  2014-03-23 18:44:20 ( ID:fjviryny2s6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Its unbelievebla: there i have a Software that costs me 99 Dollar - which is powerful and wonderful, no way!
but today it's STANDARD to have DTS-Sound on Blu-Ray.
My creations look very good with TAW5, but sounds "crappy" with highest Dolby Digital Sound encoding available (DD2.0 = 448 kbs and DD5.1 640 kbs).

So my wish (and some particular others fans of TAW5): DTS-encoding, maybe as payable plug-in ? as in TAW3 (i mean) the AC3 encoding plugin.

greets sends
I Wanter

afripp  2014-03-24 10:29:32 ( ID:uuakzik6lnw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

We came to TMPEGEnc Authoring from Avid DVD (Sonic DVD IT). The Tsunami product costs a fraction of the (no longer available) Sonic one and is better in every possible way. Firstly, it has never crashed. Secondly, it has never crashed. Thirdly, it has never crashed. Fourthly, even my wife thinks it's easy to use.

I'm particularly keen on the way you can export chapter points from a DVD project and import them into the Blu-ray project - great!

My only gripe - I wish it was easier to find out how to encode my sources to avoid it transcoding them - but I gather the secrecy around this is something to do with DVD specification licensing??

Thanks for a great product

tkrave  2014-03-26 07:04:54 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There's no secrecy about DVD/BD specifications. You can easily find DVD-Video specs on the web.
What program are you using to encode your videos? Does it have a DVD output template?

>Its unbelievebla: there i have a Software that costs me 99 Dollar - which is powerful and wonderful, no way!

No its not. Most commercial Blu-ray's have Dolby True HD.
If DTS output support was added, which Pegasys has to pay a LOT of money for, how do you think it would effect the price of TAW5? You would not be getting it for $99 for sure, it would look more like $400 you had to pay for it, due to how expensive the rights for DTS usage is.

I Wanter  2014-05-14 21:41:24 ( ID:ppucn58heh6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Then i want to have the feature of Dolby True HD.
This was, what i meant.
And, dear Tmpgenc-Support? When is the next update with this feature ? ;O)

Kuno  2014-08-25 12:46:32 ( ID:esyt0n58jfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You could always try multiavchd. It has full DTS support, and full subtitle support. It will accept SSA and SRT subs in an mkv file. Something that TMPEG has refused to do. It is also FREE.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - computer-based capture No.68385
Robin Cassidy-Duran  2014-03-22 02:30:31 ( ID:fyjimzd9af6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am interested in capturing the video from my camera directly into TMPGEnc.
Any help out there?

Persen  2014-03-23 11:24:38 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No, TMPGEnc does not have video capturing options. It can only open already created video files or audio files.
If you want to do video capture, then you need a video studio, such as Corel VideoStudio Pro, who can do video capture.

But before that, you need to instal a video capture driver first for your camera, so that the video studio can locate the driver and then access your camera as a video capturing device.

Question - TMSR4 - 200 clips limit No.68383
Bixbe  2014-03-21 06:14:43 ( ID:brajuceh7t. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I burned some BD-R discs and could only fill 4 Gb (23 minutes) of the 25Gb because of the 200 clips limit in one Project. Can I add several Projects into one BDAV disc or are there other ways to add enough clips to fill the 25Gb BD-R?

tkrave  2014-03-26 06:53:27 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You'd have to combine the clips to output as one clip first, output, then import that clip into a new project and repeat until everything can fit.
