So I have a 16:9 clip, it loads in fine. It's from a DVD.

The steps I took are as follows:

Start New Project - Normal Mode

From DVD/Blu-ray/AVCHD

I select the drive the DVD is in using From Drive

It loads everything in fine. The clip shows up as 16:9 like it's supposed to, I look at the properties and it says 16:9 as well. Then when I choose Output to AVI I use the Lagarith codec but it never keeps the 16:9 aspect ratio. It makes it 4:3 Letterboxed. I can't see anywhere to change this and I can't figure out why it changes it because all the settings are right previous to the output of AVI.

When adding many (80 + ts files I must spent a lot of time clicking next on each file as it is added. Is this really necessay? Have looked in preferences but can't find a way for the video files to be added without the extra click to accept

actually this time I have 333 small avchd files to convert to mp4 and it is very unfortunate that TMPENG MW6 cannot simply import these files by selecting all of them a once and importing all into a Project without the need to click "next" 333 times
bummer I have to use a free converter and get inferior encoding but more user friendly

This may have been a feature added since your post, but if you use the Source Wizard and choose Add DVD/Blu-ray/AVCHD, then browse to the first level in your file tree (for example, in my Sony camera - It's >Private>), the program will group your files together in Playlists. Very easy to deal with.

I'm putting this in the Video Mastering Works BBS because there isn't one for the Plug-in. Feel free to move it to the appropriate place if this is wrong.

Today I noticed that my hosts file was now missing, which was very concerning, so I ran some virus scans/etc. The only thing that I have installed in the last few weeks was the trial, so I ran PrPlugin_Trial_1.0.5.5_setup_en.exe in Virus Total and this is the result:

As you can see it was cleared by 55/56 AV companies, but Bkav flagged it as containing the trojan virus called HW32.Packed.B81D.

It is an excellent suggestion using Advantech HVC-8700 as a new SpursEngine for H265, this news was waiting for 1 year;)
(NVENC for H265 has in practice the same quality and size as H264.)
(NVENC has better quality than SpursEngine, but is not compatible with Blu-ray)

(TVMW6 6.0.6.17 trial): I splited clip on the timeline. After encoding I found sound digital "click" on split point (source and output sound is PCM with same identical parameters!)

Sometime in work process on the timelime TVMW6 crash (process frozen) when my HDD not have time to spin up from idle for read videofile. TVMW5 not have this problem!

one more: why for x264 encoding I can not set subme 10 or 11? Why I can not set manual parameters command line for x264 encoding???

one more: I have a videofile with wrong parameter of interlace. And when I switch manualy in Field Order clip property from "Bottom Field First" to "Top Filed First" - it's not have a affect in Clip Editing and output.

The previous version was working well on Windows 10, but I installed the 6.0.6.17 update and now the program will not launch. I get an error every time and the program closes during the opening splash screen, right after the serial number is verified and it says "initializing". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I get the same error. Something in the newest upgrade keeps the program from starting and the error message "TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works has stopped working" appears and the program closes. I contacted support and followed their suggestions: I searched for LRXHCodec.dll but I don't have that file on my computer, I
ran as administrator, I uninstalled QuickTime, Divx and K-Lite Codec pack, I used IObit uninstaller to fully uninstall TMPGEncVMW6 and reinstalled. It
was working properly prior to the installation of the 6.0.6.17 upgrade but
after installing that version I can no longer launch the program, despite
uninstalling and even trying to install 6.0.6.14. Nothing has helped.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Any suggestions as to how I might fix this problem. I am trying to avoid a clean install of Windows, since I am having no other problems with any program and even VMW6 was working prior to the recent update.

if you did not make this attempt, try running the setup file as an administrator by pressing the right mouse button.

Doing an encode right now, and it's utilizing an average of 83-95% and using all 8 cores on my machine. This is with task priority settings set to highest; I think it will be lower when set to normal.

Actually, I think I read the data wrong. The processes on my computer are using around 80-90% of the cpu, and of that 80-90%, TVMW6 is utilizing anywhere between 80-97%.

Can I set individual parameters of encoding for individual clips? For example,I add two clips and want that one clip has been encoded into MPEG2 and other into MPEG4...

You can't set the output format for each clip and then just click "Encode" once if that's what you're asking.

You need to select the output format before encoding for each clip.
This is a lot easier in Timeline mode; just put each clip on a separate layer, then click on the "S" (Single mode) button to make only that layer active. Select your format and add to batch.
Then go back to the Edit stage, click on the "S" button for the next clip/layer and repeat the process.
After all clips are added, run the batch.

It's pretty fast that way.

I upgraded to windows 10 pro and downloaded TVMW6_Retail_6.0.6.17_setup. First I uninstalled version 6.0.5.1.5 because of the same problem I am having now. When I try and install the update I get an error "the path cannot be found verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package "TVMW6ENRetail.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product". I have contacted support but have not heard back from them yet. Any ideas??? I use this software everyday and I have clips piling up on me.

Thanks for the reply. I was having so many software problems after the upgrade I decided to do a clean install of windows 10 and that took care of my software install problems. I am however having an encoding problem right now with the intel media sdk encoding tool. I'm getting an error code 0xc0488011. Unexpected/Unrecoverable fault returned from the device. Standard encoder works fine.

intel drivers for graphics cards are in beta version in use for my HD 4000 and the version of 10/07 10.18.10.4252 installed by windows update and it works without any problems

I use VMW6 6.0.5.16 (demo). I'm already have WMV5, TSR4 and TAW5. And I wanted buy VMW6 but.... (sorry for my english. be tolerant)

I found that some properties (like a "Top" and "Rotation Angle Y") of some clips (very short clips on the timeline (at 1-2 frames lenght)) lost after save and open project again, or after begin encode process. It's a permanet "effect" for some clips pieces on the timeline in my project. I use for this clips Speed+Reverse effect.

Also, I can't select my masks in Mask layer together with others objects in other layers on the timeline for offseting (moving) all video work by the timeline.

When I selected many object on the timeline in many layers and moving this - sometimes, after group moving, I found offset at 1 or 2 frames between clips in nearby layers.

Very difficult work with Mask layer. Why I can't shrink or stretch lenght of my mask by mouse on the time line??? WHY???

I can't accurately set start and end of the mask time for video clips. Usually set mask time on 1 frame plus or minus at the start position for my selected clip.

And more, and more...

Interface not a intuitive and not user friendly. For example: Uncomfortably and very small elements for scalable on the timeline. Not thought out many function for working with keyboard only and e.t.c.

HEVC support it's good, but... some elementary things need tuned finality before place producrt for purchasing.

In general: all elements of timeline interface is very small and not have option for resize this. I try work with video frame by frame (on maximum timeline zoom) via 27" WUXGA monitor - it's like a torture. Wery difficult work with mouse and accuracy set cursor position on the timeline or drag edge of some clip and move this to just 1 frame onward or backward.

wish: I would like to be able to set precision start position of clip or set clip duration on the timeline clip properties in frames counter rather then time counter or like it work in Womble MPEG Video Wizard when timecode after comma is not a milliseconds but count of frame in this second.

wish: I would like to when I press left arrow or right arrow button on the keyboard - _ALWAYS_ it make move on one frame onward or backward on the time line. In any situation. Always. Since now it depends on whether or not have selected clips. And I would like to always moving selected clips by left/right arrows button + Ctrl or Shift. It will wery comfortable. Because today I must always controlled myself - have a selected clips or not on the timeline for moving by my project.

I am keep getting this messages "Could not find any Video titles in the File". which looks like that Movie_ Heartbreaker_20150131_2318.ts. When file is already their.

In other folder I have no problem to upload file with name is Movie_ Happy Go Lovely_20150317_1155.ts.

I would like to tie my subtitles to a clip of a person speaking but then be able to overlay a photo or another clip and the subtitles still be on top. I know I can add the subtitles as a timeline subtitles layout and it will always remain on top ... but then if I move the talking clip around I have to line up the subtitles again with the clip.

Move both clips at the same time, then you won't have to re-align them. Use ctrl + click to select multiple clips. They can be on different layers too!
