...supr ...and normal version not updated? Major changes in x264 (resolution MUST by multiple by 2 etc).?
B.

ron  2012-09-05 17:03:26 ( ID:4jzvg8bchmf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

5.3.0.82 updates x264 to core 124(previous version is x264 core 118).
Supports flac input/output.
x264 output resolution can be multiple of 2.
Less output preparing time.
5.3.0.82 is a major update, I don't understand why english version still get nothing.

Question - TMPG VMW5 avi to DVD ratio No.66620
necron99  2012-09-02 14:12:18 ( ID:opnvlcyrnrh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I am trying to take some video I captured and encoded to DVD using VMW5 and VAW5. The video is captured from TV using a BlackMagic Intensity Pro. The original video is 720 x 486, 3:2, the original was letterboxed.

When I encode with VMW5 as DVD 4:3, I get video that is 720:480, 4:3, letterboxed but with much larger black bars on the top and bottom.

If I encode with VMW5 as DVD 16:9, I get video that is 720:480, 16:9, letterboxed but with much black bars on the top and bottom that are close to the original but also black bars on each side.

What settings should I use to get close to the original video feed?

Original:
Video
ID : 0
Format : YUV
Codec ID : UYVY
Codec ID/Info : Uncompressed 16bpp. YUV 4:2:2 (Y sample at every pixel, U and V sampled at every second pixel horizontally on each line). A macropixel contains 2 pixels in 1 u_int32.
Duration : 2h 6mn
Bit rate : 168 Mbps
Width : 720 pixels
Height : 486 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 3:2
Frame rate : 29.970 fps
Standard : NTSC
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:2
Compression mode : Lossless
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 16.000
Stream size : 148 GiB (98%)

tkrave  2012-09-05 05:34:35 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you tell what the aspect ratio of the *just* the video is in the original file? That is, without the black bars?

I would crop out the black bars in TVMW5, then depending on the size of the actual video (minus the black bars) encode as 4:3 or 16:9, whichever is closer. TVMW5 will add black bars if necessary. Choose the aspect ratio that doesn't add bars to the left and right sides at least.

Question - Copying multiple clips using clipboard No.66594
Bobby  2012-08-25 02:38:50 ( ID:ra/1mspynn2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To copy clips to another layer or project, the clipboard will do the job. However, when pasting to the new location, they are always out of order. The sequence of the clips get scrambled and I have to go rearrange them again. Is there a fix for this?

tkrave  2012-08-28 08:00:18 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The only solution I found is to select each clip individually (ctrl + click) in the order you want them to be in.

Using shift + click will never give you the correct order unless you want them to be in reverse order (see finding #2 below).

My other findings:
1. Using shift + click to select the first and last clip (if you're doing an entire sequence) results in the second-to-last clip being first and vice-versa, with every clip in between in reverse order. Only the last clip remains in the proper order.
2. Using shift + click to select the last clip and then the first clip results in a sort of correct order upon pasting; the clips appear in reverse order starting with the clip you first selected.
3. Selecting the second clip in a layer and then selecting a later clip with shift + click seems to automatically select the first clip as well, but the pasting results are still our of order similar to finding #1.

Request - Copy Audio and/or Video into container No.66571
bobthegoat2001  2012-08-21 07:03:40 ( ID:qzhxhjwttso )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There have been times when I want to re-encode the video, but not the audio. I think it would be nice if there was a feature that allows you to just 'copy' the audio rather than re-encoding it.

For example, I have some video's that I recorded from my Panasonic HDC-HS900 that are 1080p at 60fps with Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3) and I'd like to re-encode it to 1080p 30fps, but just copy the audio as-is into an MKV file. That way hopefully I wouldn't loose any sound quality by re-encoding it.

Sometimes just copying the video and audio codecs to a different container is nice too, like copying the h.264 video and the AC3 audio from the MTS file to MKV.

Alkermes  2012-08-21 07:35:00 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, nice feature. Not modify audio and recode video and viceversa.

But at this moment you can recode only video and extract audio, and after multiplex 2 files in a MKV container (Advanced Tools/Mpeg Tool/Multiplexer).

Would be a good feature too add audio gap tool to Multiplexer tool, because you can correct the audio delay...

Request - OpenCL support No.66549
philpav  2012-08-16 21:07:04 ( ID:wvza0ankmin )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

we are considering buying VMW 5 since the program produces great quality and is easy to use.

I'd like to request OpenCL support though since it's more open than CUDA and it's getting more and more evolved.

Thank you & kind regards

Alkermes  2012-08-20 05:19:08 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The OpenCL support has been discussed above... Would be interesting to have OpenCL support and to use any graphics card.

Regards, Alkermes.

philpav  2012-08-20 16:46:49 ( ID:wvza0ankmin )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Alkermes!

Sorry, didn't see the mentioned discussion.

Alkermes  2012-08-21 07:22:30 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am sorry but not is a real disscusion, they are several threads of Tmpgenc users that want AMD Stream or OpenCL support ;-)

I think the best option is offer OpenCL support instead of CUDA and Stream support separately, but this is a decision of Pegasys...

Regards, Alkermes.

philpav  2012-08-28 17:32:07 ( ID:ihg2dpv5j8l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Totally agree.
OpenCL should be preferred over CUDA.
Didn't hear about AMD Stream before :P

Are there any keyboard shortcuts available when in the Cut-Edit mode.
E.g. start point/ end point/ remove the marked area?

Question - Makiing timelapse video from JPEGs No.66529
billd  2012-08-15 07:39:24 ( ID:l3bb.ghvkio )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Any suggestions on making timelapse videos using TMPGEnc 5? I have several hundred JPEGs I would like to assemble together into a timelapse video. Each photo will be one frame/30 photos per second.

1. Import using "From pictures as slideshow". The problem with this approach - the minimum display time for each photo is 1 second. Even using the framerate filter set to max. of 1000% produces 10fps which does not look smooth. I could reencode a 2nd time with the framerate set to 300%, however this is not an efficient workflow and I'll lose quality with the double video encode.

2. Import the photos in timeline mode, then manually go through hundreds of photos setting the interval to 00:00:00.03 . However, once again, this is a very inefficient workflow, plus the frame rate interval actually needs to be 0.033333 for a smooth framerate.

I don't have any other ideas. Suggestions anyone?

tkrave  2012-08-16 05:32:15 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think there is an easy way to do it currently. It looks like you've tried everything available in the program.

They would either need to increase the speed filter limit to 3333% or above, or allow durations into the one hundred thousandths of a second range.

billd  2012-08-16 06:57:12 ( ID:l3bb.ghvkio )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

On the framerate, as a general improvement I think Pegasys should allow us to specify any framerate - I am continually bumping up against 1000%. Also personally I would find a multiplier 0.75 (75%), 1.0 (100%), 10.0 (1000%), 30.0 (3000%) somewhat more intuative to work with.
Also on my wishlist, the ability to slide the framerate smoothly between 2 values using a timeline FX filter.

Question - ffdshow and tmpgenc 5 No.66492
Alkermes  2012-08-08 04:09:31 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have installed ffdshow for decode VC-1 and DTS files in Tmgpenc 5, but only can decode DTS audio files and not VC-1 video files.

How can I configure Tmgpenc 5 for to use ffdshow?.

Regards, Alkermes.

tkrave  2012-08-09 06:00:03 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You may need to disable other file readers to force TVMW5 to use the directshow file reader.

First, check which file reader is being used to open the file by going to the Clip Properites window. The file reader should be listed in the Video stream info box.

Go to Preferences-->Input/output format list-->File input plugin, and then uncheck whatever file reader is being used to open the file. Directshow is at the bottom, so other file readers have priority over it unless they are disabled.

Alkermes  2012-08-10 02:08:10 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have disabled all file input plugin except DirectShow but this does not work.

Thank you ;-)

Alkermes  2012-08-18 17:08:08 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had installed CoreAVC 2.0 with Haali media spliter. With Haali and ffdshow togethers I can decode DTS audio.

I try then with Win7DSFilterTweaker 5.5 for choose/select what codecs I want to use for decode severals video formats and I enable VC-1 decode whith ffdshow.

This not work and Tmpgenc 5 not decode VC-1...

But... I install a new coreAVC software versión (3) and reinstall y reconfigure ffdshow and now VC-1 works.

Resume:

-Install coreAVC 3 (CUDA enable).
-Install ffdshow 4475. Only enable VC-1 (wmv9) and DTS (libdts) decoders for me.
-Use Win7DSFilterTweaker 5.5 for to enable ffdshow for decode VC-1.

Regards, Alkermes.

Alkermes  2012-08-18 17:11:47 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

By the way, when you select a video file (VC-1/DTS) not use DVD/BR Importer from Tmpgenc 5, you must use "Import as is"...

Regards, Alkermes.

Persen  2012-08-21 10:50:53 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Under Windows 7 64bit i only use Haali Media Splitter and FFDSHOW, no extra tools or codec packs installed at all and i have full VC-1 support in both TVMW5 and TAW5.

In FFDSHOWS's Video decoder configuration, Codecs, what i have done is to change VC-1 setting to wmv9 and Raw video to All supported.

Alkermes  2012-08-24 07:26:40 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Forget CoreAVC (not VC-1 decoder)...

"You have not set FFDSHOW's VC-1 support correctly.
In FFDSHOW open the Video decoder configuration and then go to Codecs.
Here find VC-1 and change it to: wmv9
Now FFDSHOW has been opened up for decoding VC-1 coded video correctly."

I am not agree. I try several setting (wmv9 included) and not work, why?, I dont know.

I had not enabled Raw video before. Thanks for your help, I have enabled now.

Regards, Alkermes.

Question - How to Interpret Audio Display No.66467
ds_BC  2012-08-02 15:17:13 ( ID:olt9jfyn2fm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to fix audio sync on some old vhs rips.

The audio waveform is displayed in 5 alternately dark and gray boxes in the clip editor.

I'm trying to understand Which box represents the current frame being displayed so I can adjust the audio gap. Is it the middle one?

Thanks for any help

Question - Format: MPEG-4 Visual No.66462
reyes136  2012-08-02 07:03:49 ( ID:wsra7c/m3ka )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a few portable media players that are very specific to the video format they will play.I used the mediainfo software to check the videos and the only ones that will play are the ones who show the following:

Video
ID : 1
Format : MPEG-4 Visual
Format profile : Advanced Simple@L3

the only way i can get a video with this format is if i use your quicktime .mov profile then change the .mov extension to .mp4 then the video will play and shows the same format as above. But this profile has no options for res. or bitrate.
If I use your .mp4 profiles the video is as follows:

Video
ID : 2
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : Baseline@L2.0

and this will not play in my players. Is there a profile that will get me the mp4 visual style video.

tkrave  2012-08-02 07:58:12 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Besides the format and profile, what are the other limitations? Resolution, framerate, etc.??

Try using the "Mobile and Portable Device MPEG file" template.
Maybe use the iPad settings as a starting point.

reyes136  2012-08-02 08:10:38 ( ID:wsra7c/m3ka )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well as long as I stay under 800X600 and 29fps the videos seem to be ok as long as there MPEG-4 Visual. I have tried all the iphone formats changing all the settings possible. If I use Handbrake and select the classic format the videos come out perfect. But I bought this software to cut out commercials and Handbrake does not do this. I did notice that the "MPEG-4 Visual" and Handbrake files that work are H.263.

tkrave  2012-08-02 09:12:08 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you have the Xvid codec, you can use the AVI output format and the Xvid MPEG-4 codec to create a H.263 ASP@L3 video. The output file will have an .avi extension though.
The Xvid settings will let you set the number of passes, bitrates, and more.

reyes136  2012-08-02 09:30:46 ( ID:wsra7c/m3ka )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks tkrave, this is exactly what I needed, my sony portable dvd player will play .avi files encoded with .mp4 files. I made a couple test videos and they played perfectly. Thanks again for you help, You are awesome.

Question - single MP4 with multiple segments encoded with different H.264 settings No.66454
benoitm  2012-08-01 00:45:21 ( ID:4uvytszflrw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to concatenate in a single MP4 file several "segments" that have been encoded with different H.264 parameters ? I know how to do this with MPEG-2, but don't know which tool to use for H.264/MP4 files ?

(example: you may want part of a movie encoded in CBR, and another in VBR; or a different encoding "strategy" for parts of a movie like: smaller GOP, better control of banding in the shades of extremely dark scenes, etc.)

tkrave  2012-08-01 02:34:28 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's not possible with TVMW5, but it's possible with professional encoding software/hardware.
