Question - mp4 doesn't start streaming until loaded No.63374
Rufine  2010-07-20 00:49:19 ( ID:e6facrdazm. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After converting to Mp4 format, the file doesn't play until it's completely downloaded in flash player.

Is there a way in Xpress to move the boxes to the front of the file or do I have to use a separate tool like MP4Box or a similar tool to move the boxes to the beginning of the file.

Thanks.

try playing the mp4 file with another player, flash player sucks

Rufine-- I got Xpress 4 to create a streaming file (I use FlowPlayer) by using the following settings:

container: iPod video
profile: main
level: automatic (4.1 and less)
framerate: 29.97 progressive
rate control: 1 pass constant quantization (also works with 2-pass variable, and maybe others, I only tried those 2)
motion search: 63
bitrate buffer: 0 (auto)
video system: automatic
detect scene change: checked
GOP length: 250
B frame count: 3
Reference frame count: 5
I picture: 23
P picture: 24
B picture: 26
Entropy coding mode: CABAC (I also tried CAVLC, which I think is better for portable devices)
motion estimation: quarter pixel
audio - object type: low complexity
audio - output format: raw
no thumbnail info entered

I'm not quite sure what made it a streaming file, but its nice not to have to use another tool to fix it for streaming! I have a feeling it was the "iPod" setting... let me know if you find out.

Request - Manual IVTC with Hybrid Support? No.63330
Gaea  2010-07-11 04:30:46 ( ID:yq9kyqadldh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, will you guys be willing to consider re-adding in the Manual IVTC operation of TMPGENC Plus 2.5 with Hybrid IVTC Support? By this I mean that, ok, for the pattern "10", all users of the TMPGenc Plus 2.5 Manual ivtc'er all knows that it refers to NTSC Video (30fps), so we can set 10 as (30fps), and for the standard patterns such as "1001001010", we can associate it as the standard "2:3/3:2 pulldown". This, for me and dozens of others, would be a big selling point. I don't really care for the conversion operations, i'm more into the IVTC aspect of the encoder, which always brings me back to tmpgenc plus 2.5.

Also, if you guys consider this, can you make it so that we can have the option to create a timecode file for the hybrid ivtc handling? I'd be willing to pay a lot of money for a program with an ivtc'er as good as the one in TMPGenc Plus 2.5 than can also handle hybrid material. Hell, i'd pay top dollar just for a program with the Ivtc'er alone. :)

Question - Program quit working No.63328
jako  2010-07-10 10:56:40 ( ID:h.ttavxyiw2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My TMPEGExp quit working and will not open. This happened after I used DEP to open all files, then used it again to return to the original setting.
Anyone experienced something similar?

Rufine  2010-07-20 00:38:15 ( ID:e6facrdazm. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After creating a mp4 file, the mp4 doesn't start streaming until loaded.

I read you can use MP4Box or a similar tool to move the boxes to the beginning of the file.

Does XPress allow you to do something like this or do I have to use another tool??

Thanks.

Question - Can TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress cut (.ts) 1080p video without re-encode? No.63318
tintong2@gmail.com  2010-07-08 14:38:13 ( ID:19h6cyqmpwa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I bought TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress 2 yrs ago,wanna ask

Can TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress cut (.ts) 1080p video without re-encode?

Because i tired a software called "VideoReDo TVSuite4" can make it and quick.

What i want to do is...

Learn More About MPEG Video

Why is Native MPEG editing important to you?
MPEG is a highly compressed format. Most full-featured video editors like Premiere, Ulead, Avid, and Pinnacle convert MPEG files into uncompressed video for editing and then re-encode it when saving the edits. The result is that it can take hours to save your video rather than just minutes as it does with VideoReDo.

More importantly, each recoding results in a reduction of quality. With VideoReDo's perfected smart rendering technology you can edit again and again without degrading any of your precious videos.

Works with many formats
MPEG1, MPEG2, Transport Streams (.ts), Windows MCE DVRMS files, Siemens M740AV .CRID files, and Topfield .rec files. The result is that VideoReDo TVSuite works with the widest variety of TV PVR and DVR formats.

Nope. 4.0 XPress is a video converter, so it's main purpose is converting and re-encoding.

TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3 and TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 have Smart Rendering which will allow you to edit MPEG video without re-encoding.

Thank for you information, it's useful.

mathewlisett  Home )  2010-07-19 05:22:54 ( ID:medjp4.yoma )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well not true.

if you encode the end project as the original files then it should be using smart encoding, where it only encodes where it needs to.

tkrave  2010-07-21 01:57:58 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What's not true?

4.0 XPress does not have smart rendering; you make it sound like it does.
Would it be awesome if it had it? Of course. However, it simply doesn't have it.

Question - .VOB to mpg Pass-Through / Stream Copy No.63285
midnight_sun  2010-06-29 19:16:12 ( ID:jxzpueykrbm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

FFmpeg and others allow video stream copies so I dont need to re-encode the video stream. How can i do this in TMPGEnc4XP?

Frank Corona  2010-06-29 22:16:45 ( ID:8hqeawkg2br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can't. The one thing I don't like about the TMPG line of software is how much the different software packages overlap. You'd have to spend another $65 on a license of TMPG MPEG Editor 3 if you want the ability to convert without re-encoding. Xpress & Editor dont talk to each other directly so you're better off using something free to do that conversion.

midnight_sun  2010-07-01 08:33:37 ( ID:jxzpueykrbm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That sucks. I use TMPGEnc4XP because of the batch and subtitle features only. I often find the reencode sucks though.
I don't know how to show subtitles in the free versions....any direction would be great.

Question - How to insert transition/animation between video files No.63258
iieeann  2010-06-24 02:22:13 ( ID:kh/jimsjycl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wish to encode a few video clips into 1 single file. I try to find way to insert transition/animation between each clip. How to do that? Thank you.

tkrave  2010-06-24 08:49:11 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This program can't really do transitions...well, it can to a simple fade-out/in but that's it.

To do the fade-in/out effects, go to the filter tab in the clip editor window.

Hello, I have the same needs. Windows Web Server (IIS).
I would like to encode the videos that users uploads.
Command line, C#, ASP, SDK, something...
Thank you.

luke  2010-09-09 08:42:58 ( ID:lu/4sk6vb4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPGENC REALLY needs a command line interface. I would pay 3 times as much if this was possible.

Bug report - TMpgEnc 4.0 Cannot Product In Sync H264 Audio / Video for iPad / iTunes No.63242
Soyale  2010-06-20 03:13:03 ( ID:fu0c8bweg8r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been trying to create video files to view in iTunes and the iPad. I'm using a DVD source. I've tried a large variety of output settings but they all end up slightly out of sync. The same output files play well in Zune and Windows Media Player. I'm running TE 4.7.7.307 and iTunes 9.2.

Here are the settings I'm using that are consistent across attempts to encode :

* MPEG4 AVC (Main Profile 3.1, video size is same as input DVD, aspect ratio is set to same as input e.g. if input is Pixel 40:33 so is output)
* MPEG Audio AAC-LC, 160kbps 48000khz (sample rate is same as input sample rate)

Here's some of the things I've tried varying :

* PAL and NTSC encoded sources
* Container : Main or iPod Video
* FPS same as input video or 30 fps progressive
* Video Bit Rate : 1000, 1250, 1500
* Rate control mode : 2-pass VBR, 1-pass CBR
* Video System : Auto and setting explicitly to same as source material
* Motion estimation subpel mode : quarter pixel or whole pixel
* Audio Output Format : Raw and ADTS

Video from the iTunes store and other .mp4 files I've downloaded seem to play fine.

I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can try and isolate what the problem is?

Soyale,

I am successfully (well somewhat) creating files for the iPad from DVD source using the SpursEngine plug-in. My settings are (if I remember them correctly):

- MPEG4 AVC (Main Profile 3.1)
- 720x480 resolution (for NTSC DVD)
- 16:9 ratio
- VBR
- Max. Video bit rate: 2,500

I didn't change any other of the default settings. The result is a reasonably large file that I can play on the iPad without any problems. However, I don't go through iTunes, but instead play through AirVideo (no conversion).

The only reason I am not 100% satisfied is that the SpursEngine is so limited regarding the video formats it supports. For example, I can't cut off the black bars for 2.35:1 format DVDs. I guess you don't have these limitations if you're not using the SpursEngine - but then again you could just as well use HandBrake, which is free and produces very high quality files. The only reason I'm stuck with SpursEngine is that it's so fast, and converting lots of DVDs without it just takes to long.

I use tmpgenc to do a lot of subtitle encoding. It would really be nice if I could create a subtitle format and save it to use on every new project. I know that I can create a custom layout and save it for a particular project. But when I start a new project, the subtitle is no longer in the drop down list. It get tedious to continually have to change the font and font size settings every time I encode a new file.
