Question - PowerPoint Issue with TMPG videos No.58411
Pat  2008-09-19 14:36:51 ( ID:sjqgpc3dcgj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

The videos that I clip and convert in TMPG do not play in PowerPoint 2007 (I run PP 2007 on an XP system on a Dell Precision M90).

I can use older videos in PP 2007 that I know I did not use TMPG to create. This baffles me, so I assume it has to do with some codec or some output setting that I have selected in the TMPG conversion process that is causing this conflict.

I have tried .WMV and .MPegs and still can't get them to work. THey turn to white in PowerPoint, yet play fine in Windwows Media Player.

I have tried ajdusting my hardware acceleration as well.

I use TMPGenc 4.0 XPress. The videos are usually captured with Camtasia Studio 5. I have installed the Camstasia codec so I don't think that is the issue either.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pat

I used to be able to use TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 to convert videos from my camera to WMV. Now they are all jittery. This is since the latest update to TMPGEnc. I can provide a short sample if you want.

I'm having the same problem. I own a Panasonic Lumix FX-520 digital camera that shoots progressive QT Motion JPEG 30fps video and never had a problem. Now I upgraded to a Panasonic Lumix LX-3 digital camera that shoots progressive QT Motion JPEG 24fps video, and all my videos are jerky when converted in TMPG 4.0 Xpress, no matter the frame rate I try to choose and settings! :(

I would like to run your software on a server that encodes video as they appear in a folder. Can I call your software via command line?

Question - 60i to 24p (24fps) No.58404
jayfox  2008-09-14 20:15:23 ( ID:3qchdinxz6. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way to convert 1920x1080/60i mpeg-2(main@high profile) to mp4 avc - 24p without the jerky playback?

Thanks.

jadafa  2008-11-17 10:35:25 ( ID:0jmq9tiwtqm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, when you enter into the edit mode, go to filters, and make sure deinterlace is checked. Then you must set "24p (high-motion)" and "inverse pulldown" and then you can get rid of the jerky playback.

Hallo. I want editing files .TRP in HD format (not MPEG) that cames from my Clarke 5000 (Sat receiver with recording).
I convert TRP in M2TS and import it in TMPGENC XPRESS and I use tools for cut commercial spot.
At the end of the editing, I want save the new M2TS but without any format conversion, only a direct stream copy.
Is it possible ?
Thanks.

Bug report - Setting max frames per GOP not respected No.58400
Emulgator  2008-09-13 10:49:23 ( ID:cfaqbn.q4rw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TE4XP 4.5.2.255 German version.

I want to specify a GOP size of 15
I frames per GOP=1,
P-frames per GOP=5,
B-frames per GOP=2,(should be renamed B-frames per P-frame)
Max.frames per GOP=15,

I get out a stream with GOP size = 16.

No matter what I choose for max frames per GOP (like 1 through 30),
this value is not respected anymore.

I can have GOP size=13 with P-frames per GOP=4,
but not 15.

Was ok in earlier versions.

Emulgator  2008-09-13 11:18:04 ( ID:cfaqbn.q4rw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Instable after changing settings completely up and down.
Now testing with the same settings I=1 ;P=5 ;B=2 ;Max=15
and all I'm getting out is GOP size 13.(before it was 16.)

Furthermore: the outcoming GOP structure is not correctly represented anymore
by the IBBPBB...pattern window.

Only changes in I,P,B Open are reflected here, not Max.

But setting a max of 6 got me after encoding a GOP of 4
after checking in GSpot 2.70a.
So max setting does something, but not as expected.

I think there is a bug in TMPG 4.0 Xpress an rendering 24fps Progressive Video! :(

I'm having the same problem as you. I own a Panasonic Lumix FX-520 digital camera that shoots progressive QT Motion JPEG 30fps video and never had a problem. Question - Problem editing out black lines to restore 16:9 aspect No.58394
grandsire02  2008-09-12 16:50:49 ( ID:pccphiau9bc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have some video files with a black bar above and below the picture (videos were originally 16:9 aspect but have been reprocessed by Tunebite software into 4:3 aspect - hence the lines). I'm attempting to use TMPGEnc 4.0 Express to remove these lines out and restore the original 16:9 aspect by using the crop and resize filters. Using the Centre (Custom Size) facility on the resize filter I've set the picture size to 672 x 376 pixels, but when I proceed to the Format step, even though I set the aspect ratio to 16:9 on the Output Format screen, in the Format screen the only available pixel sizes are 720 x 576,704 x 576, 352 x 576, and 352 x 288, none of which seem to relate to a 16:9 aspect. When I run the Encode stage, the preview picture still has the black bars above and below (with 4:3 aspect set it is the same as the original Tunebite output, and in 16:9 the picture appears stretched). I was assured by TMPG before buying this programme that it would do this task, and this is what they told me: QUOTE "In the XPress 4 do the following: -At Filters window > choose Picture resize filter > then uncheck the 'Keep aspect ratio' option, but it's possible that the image becomes little bit stretched because the original aspect ratio is changed.(see screen shot).-Then encode your file and import it at Author 3." UNQUOTE. These seem to be incomplete instructions. Can anyone assist me, please?

tkrave  2008-09-12 18:27:27 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First, I'm assuming your output format is PAL DVD based on the resolutions you mentioned.

For widescreen DVD's, it's not the number of pixels that make it widescreen, it's the pixel aspect ratio.
So open up the clip editing window for your clip, go to Clip Properties, and change the aspect ratio to "Pixel 16:11 (PAL 16:9)".
Then, in the Filters tab, crop out your black bars with the crop filter.
Then with the resize filter, set to "Center (Custom Size)", and set the dimensions to 720x576.
Now you can go to the Format stage, choose the PAL DVD format, and select 720x576 as your resolution. When you preview it, it should be widescreen without black bars.

Request - Right video resolution for conversion to DVD players No.58388
ResolutionGuy  2008-09-12 08:50:35 ( ID:zx/t5ps.wk6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey guys,
I have an HD camcorder that records in AVCHD format. I have been usin TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress to convert the AVCHDs into a single .avi video file converted in divx format. When you do the converstion you can set many options to enhance quality sound etc... but it also allows you to set a resolution you want your .avi to come out. The avchd that i record is set to 1920x1080 on my camcorder which is too big of resolution for most normal TVs and Dvd players. When i did my trial conversion I set it 800x600 ... and that didnt work. dvd said doesnt support resolution. So can anyone help me out and tell me what the right resolution to set it to, to make .avi playable on my divx dvd player???

THANKS

ResolutionGuy  2008-09-12 09:20:43 ( ID:zx/t5ps.wk6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here is some thought i have put to this

Since the original resolution is 1920x1080 = 16:9 aspect ratio,
so i would downsize that to 720x405 = 16:9 which is still same aspect ratio,

or should i switch to 4:3 aspect ratio? and if i do, do i lose any image due to letterboxing?

ResolutionGuy  2008-09-12 09:33:41 ( ID:zx/t5ps.wk6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

so i figured best optimal size is 720x480 ... NTSC at 3:2 ratio.

tkrave  2008-09-12 18:42:08 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How are you setting the 3:2 ratio?

If it's widescreen NTSC, I believe the pixel aspect ratio should be 40:33.

Are you using the DivX template or the AVI template in the Format stage?

ResolutionGuy  2008-09-12 21:28:39 ( ID:zx/t5ps.wk6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im using the divx template but it tells me to set the resolution.

720x480 is a 3:2 aspect ratio (720/3=240 ... 240x2=480)

40:33 aspect ratio would crop out a lot of the footage.

tkrave  2008-09-12 23:04:06 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm talking about pixel aspect ratio, not the ratio of the resolution dimensions.

Changing it to 40:33 pixel aspect ratio will not crop anything; it will stretch the image to the correct 16:9 aspect ratio of your source file. Obviously, 720x480 is not a 16:9 ratio, so the DVD format(or in this case, the DivX format) stretches the pixels themselves to obtain the correct aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:9.

So in the DivX format options, you'd set the Size to 720 x 480, and the Aspect ratio to "Pixel 40:33 (NTSC 16:9)". I'd use profile type "Home theater".

Question - 4 Gigabte limit No.58385
Kerry N  2008-09-08 03:07:37 ( ID:bi55oqb2spl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been transcoding? my home movies that were taken in 1080. I have been using the Divx encoder via the TMPenc 4.15 Xpress program. I am however at a loss as to why there is a 4 Gigabyte limit. Maybe someone can explain this. After all why do HighDef in Divx if there is a 4 Gigabyte limit?

Thanks,
Kerry N

rendez2k  2008-09-08 18:49:39 ( ID:kct8aqti.x2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think its probably because you're drive is formatted as FAT32 rather than NTFS. FAT32 only allows 4gb max files.

tkrave  2008-09-08 20:50:03 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are encoding to DivX, then the DivX format itself is the limitation. DivX files can only be less than 4GB.
