Question - Output to a single file rather than m2v + wav No.58342
snoop911  2008-08-27 18:37:57 ( ID:bov1enft0w. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using tmpgenc to permanently insert subtitles into an avi file. However, when it finishes, it generates a m2v video file and a .wav audio file.

Is there a way to have tmpgenc to output a single interleaved audio/video file?

tkrave  2008-08-27 22:13:39 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What format do you want to output to? MPEG, AVI, or something else?

If AVI, what codec are you using?

For AVI output, there is an interleaved/non-interleaved option on the right side of the screen in the Format stage.

There are no additional filters other than those already in the software.

Can you create a Virtual P2 card folder structure - DVCPro HD OPAtom MXF files? Or a OP1a MXF file?

Thanks,
Bob

What you need it for? I don´t thin it is possible. Better use editing solutions like AVID or so. What you can do is to download the AVID DNxHD Codec (its free) and compile a Quicktime.

Question - No support for DV output? No.58332
jasper22  2008-08-20 22:12:46 ( ID:7e0psdlmf3g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to output video as DV (using Microsoft DV PAL or NTSC codec) using this software? I cannot find any DV option listed under AVI or anywhere else. It is hard to believe such a common video format is missing. Maybe I just can't see it. Can someone confirm if DV output is supported?

tkrave  2008-08-21 00:16:10 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The specs say that only uncompressed DV Type2 is supported and that you need the correct codecs to enable input/output.
Check the Options-->Preferences-->AVI Settings to see if your codecs are showing up and can encode/decode.

tkrave  2008-08-21 02:41:49 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been able to use the Panasonic DV and Cedocida DV codecs to decode/encode. With the Canopus codec, I can only decode.
I am not sure about the Microsoft DV codec; it doesn't show up on my list in XPress.

Question - Can Tmpgenc be used as an mpeg verifier tool? No.58331
whopper  2008-08-20 16:21:07 ( ID:gnirnet9bjm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi !
Is it possible to use Tmpgenc as an automatic mpeg verifier?
I have many huge mpegs stored on several hard disks, and I'd like to check / verify them all automatically from time to time, to detect hard disk corruptions or any other problem that might altered the mpeg files.

By verify I mean the mpeg is valid and all frames are fine so it can played from start to finish without any corrupted frame.

regards !

Question - DVD Ripping with TMPGENC Xpress V.4.4.1.237 No.58330
milindb1  2008-08-20 06:45:18 ( ID:8bhjk1uv3mw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dear All,

My PC Config is-

AMD Athlon Dual Core 4000+
ASUS M2A-VM Mainboard
2GB DDR2 RAM 633MHZ
500GB SATA2 HDD Seagate
Liteon DVD RW

I am using TMPGENC Xpress V.4.4.1.237 for ripping of DVD to MPEG VCD PAL format with default ripping settings.
When I author that MPEG file for DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author ver.3.1.2.176 with default authoring settings & play the DVD on DVD Players then on some DVD players the Video Flickers.

But if I Author the same MPEG file with NERO VISION Ver.5 then the problem doesn't occurs. The NERO VISION Ver.5 takes long time to author compared to TMPGEnc DVD Author.

What is the reason of the problem. Is there any settings for TMPGENC Xpress or
TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Please Help Me.

Will TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 run with Vista 64 bit?
Thanks
MachineGun

tkrave  2008-08-18 18:04:00 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Some people have used it on their Vista 64 bit systems with no problems, but it's not officially supported so it's up to you if you want to risk it.

I recommend downloading the trial version first to see how it works on your system.

MachineGun  2008-08-18 19:17:27 ( ID:essrlyzcnqh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the reply.
I already have bought it for my 32 bit Vista, but I would like to switch to 64 bit when I build my new system.
Speaking of new system would I have any problems installing it on a new computer assuming that I first remove it from the old one?

Thanks
NachineGun

You shouldn't have a problem installing it on a new system as long as you're not installing it multiple times in a short time period.

I'm running Vista 64bit and it works perfect with Xpress 4.5.2.255!

Question - encoding didn't change resolution as set for No.58320
Godiwa  2008-08-13 17:00:11 ( ID:dbndndtuo5g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wanted to convert a 720x576 format DVD to a 720x428 format MPEG4 AVC

In "Source" I edited all the 5 clips for the movie to use a crop to remove 74 pixels from the top and the bottom and they showed fine in the program.

In the "Format" I changed the resolution accordingly but the output format is still 720x576, pretty big downer after a 4.5 hour long encode to find out the program screwed up.

Is this a known bug in the free version, or a general bug in both free/paid version? I wanted it to remove the black bars since they take up a lot of space and are useless, especially when viewed in mediaplayer in windows, making the actual movie even smaller when in full screen then when playing the DVD.

Any solutions?

I was just about to buy the full version since I like how it works, but the final trial encode messing up like that is very critical and means no purchase from my side until I have a solution to fix it, so any help is much appreciated.

Same behavior here. I have a registered version of TMPGEnc Xpress 4 and tried different codecs to ensure its not the codecs fault, but TMPGEncs...

tkrave  2008-08-14 02:27:22 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think I found a solution.

In the filter list, select the "Picture resize" filter.

Next, select "Center (custom size)" for Picture position.

Then input your desired output resolution.

In the Encode stage, click on the Preview button to see a sample of how the output will look to make sure it's bar-free.

tkrave  2008-08-14 02:39:36 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Actually, I may not be having the same problem as you guys; my output is always at the resolution I set it at in the Format stage.

So your output resolutions are always the same as your source resolutions, even if you change it?

What version are you guys using?

Question - output size too big No.58317
hollowed454  2008-08-09 23:41:29 ( ID:zl/y/myayr. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello I'm new to TMPGenc 4.0 Xpress. First program of this nature I've used. I uploaded a movie left it as it is because I just wanted it to be converted from AVI to Mpeg. However it ran out of space doing the movie because the out put size was 50G!? Is there some way to change that? I mean the original size was only at 700mb. All I did was load the file in and changed the output format to mpeg. any ideas?

tkrave  2008-08-11 22:52:47 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What are the attributes of your avi file? Resolution? Framerate? Codec used?

What settings do you see for the MPEG output (in the Format stage)?

That's quite a large leap in filesize, but it's hard to say why it's doing that with so little information.
