Question - System crashes when using Tmpgenc free version No.64567
Tedd  2011-04-12 13:55:41 ( ID:ffsjx1sedkk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been using Tmpgenc for years. I love it. Not long ago I switched to
Mozilla Firefox. Can't take explorer anymore. Not long after I started having system crashes when using Tmpgenc.

The system doesn't crash every time I use Tmpgenc, but when it does crash, I am
either opening a Tmpgenc editing session or one is ending.

It has gotten on my last nerve. Someone on a forum suggested it could be a flash
problem. I uninstalled flash and had the same problem.

Can't find any virus's on the system.

Anyone out there care to opine?

Question - That MP4 question a "Question" not "request" (my mistake) No.64404
beeman  2011-03-04 16:57:51 ( ID:5xzfjvwte5n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry, I posted a question about why subtitles aren't staying on with TMPGE (but are with Windows Media Player) but by mistake put it as "Request" not "Question." I cannot delete and repost it correctly because I didn't assign a password to it.

My apologies, but it IS a question.

Please, if anyone can help, please reply here on the BBS. Thank you!

Request - Subtitles (DirVobSub) "disappear" with MP4 & matching file (2.5 Plus) No.64403
beeman  2011-03-04 16:54:23 ( ID:5xzfjvwte5n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a fix for this?
I've used DirVobSub for years, but can't find a solution.
Running XP SP2.

Q:
Is there any way to get TMPGE 2.5 Plus to "turn on" (and keep on) DirVobSub when loading an MP4/h264 file with matching SRT file the way it will when it's an AVI file with matching SRT file? It keeps loading DirVobSub -- but within half a second, DirVobSub keeps disappearing with TMPGE (works fine with Windows Media Player). Here's more detail:

If I load an AVI file & matching SRT or ASS subtitle file into my TMPGE 2.5 Plus (paid verison, I purchased it a long time ago) the green arrow icon appears and dirvobsub works fine (ie: episode1.avi & episode1.srt).

The problem is now that a lot of video files are starting to be MP4 format and x264, instead of AVI (episode1.mp4 & episode1.srt).

TMPGE2.5Plus has no problems loading the MP4 format (though you have to select "ALL FILE TYPES" to even have it show). But it would ignore and not even load a matching subtitle file. Of course Windows Media Player (which couldn't play an MP4 file by itself -- this is XP I'm using) couldn't even play it at all.

So I found a codec -- x264vfw (h264/MPEG4 AVC Video For Windows codec) -- and installed it. Now the subtitles work great with the MP4 files with Windows Medial Player -- but STILL "DISAPPEAR" WITH TMPGE!

Now if I have episode1.mp4 and episode1.srt and use Windows Media Player to play the file, it will load up the Green Arrow icon for DirVobSub and show the subtitles fine.

But if I try to load the file and use TMPGE2.5Plus to turn it into an MPEG2 file, what happens is this: when I first load the file, I see the green arrow appear for about HALF A SECOND -- then instantly DISAPPEAR, and it's gone. Then if I go into, for instance, CLIP FRAME option in TMPGE, the same thing happens -- it loads the green arrow icon for a split second, then it disappears immediately -- and there are no subtitles.

The only "fix" I found to this is that I also have FFDSHOW installed, and I can use the "FORCE SUBTITLE" option on FFDSHOW (outside of DirVobSub), which does work -- but the subtitle options on FFDSHOW are limited, and for instance, you CAN'T set LEFT/RIGHT margins with the FFDSHOW Subtitle options (for long subtitle lines that go to the very edges of the screen that will inevitably be cut off on any stadard TV...) DirVobSub has easy options to make sure you can leave "space" between the first or last letter of a subtitle line and the edge so words aren't cut off. So there's a reason I want to use DirVobSub instead of FFDSHOW.

But it's the weirdest thing. Why -- when I have the codec installed now to bring it up even with an MP4 h264 file -- does DirVobSub work just fine when I used Windows Media Player -- but when using TMPGE 2.5 Plus, it brings it up only for a split second before shutting it down? No matter what I do, I can't get the green arrow icon/DirVobSub to stay on when using MP4 & matching subtitle file even though it'll stay on just playing the file with Windows Media Player, or if it's an AVI file with matching subtitle file, TMPGE works just fine.

I know this is a weird question, but it's really bugging me (especially because TMPGE *IS* starting DirVobSub for a split second -- but then as soon as the green arrow appears it immediately disappears, as does DirVobSub).

Is there any way to get TMPGE 2.5 Plus to "turn on" (and keep on) DirVobSub when loading an MP4 file with matching SRT file the way it will when it's an AVI file with matching SRT file?

Question - Command Line - How to? No.64319
Mister Smith  2011-02-20 20:49:40 ( ID:srgld7dupof )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

is there a way to use TMPGEnc with line commands?

I need an automatic routine to demux mpg files. I just need the mp3-stream. Because I want to create a command routine in foobar2000 the demuxing is just one step of many, so I need to tell the MPEG Tools to demux by command line , but how?

Can anybody help please, best with a link to line commands...?
Thanks

Question - How do I enter the key No.63848
Eclipse  2010-11-16 08:41:33 ( ID:1aiu1mdo1n. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I purchased this. I have a key for it. How do I enter the key in order to activate it? It keeps telling me my trial has expired.

tkrave  2010-11-19 09:49:38 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The trial version and the retail version are two separate exe files.

Create a User Account here:
https://ssl.pegasys-inc.com/webapp/?lang=en

You should be able to register your serial key during the registration process.
Once your account is set up, you can login and download the retail exe file.

tkrave  2010-11-19 09:53:38 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My bad, I forgot Plus 2.5 is different than the other TMPGEnc products. The trial and retail version share the same exe file.

There should be a place to enter the key.

All iPhone users can’t backup the SMS to anywhere until the SMS box is full, then you have to delete all of them to prevent iPhone rejecting new SMS receiving. With Tansee iPhone Transfer SMS(download in : http://hotdownloads.com/trialware/download/Download_tanseeiphonesms_.exe?item=13181-11&affiliate=406676), you can transfer the iPhone SMS to PC as a txt file or a ANTS file before the event above happens. Before the transfer, you can choose to transfer from all contacts or a single contact, further more, you can choose transfer the SMS to a TXT file or a ANTS file. In ANTS file condition, you can protect the file with a password to keep your privacy. You can see the screenshot in : http://www.mustsoftware.com/Tansee-iPhone-Transfer-SMS-guide.html

Question - avi to mpeg-1 No.63420
Constantin  2010-07-31 06:40:34 ( ID:8zfuyqgjtmg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I found TMPGEnc 2.5 does not read .wmv and .avi files as video source. Could be a setting matter or there is a limitation of this software ? Grateful for a clue.

tkrave  2010-08-17 04:16:37 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do you have the correct codecs for your avi files? I am able to load wmv and avi files so it's not a limitation of the software.

liberty80  2010-10-01 20:36:49 ( ID:botwe17ikna )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i have a same problem with avi file. what kind of codecs i need?

tkrave  2010-10-12 03:07:14 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use a program like GSpot or MediaInfo to figure out what codec you need.

Question - "Invalid File - Please Reinstall" No.63151
Brent  2010-06-03 04:20:08 ( ID:ulehrpetxcc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just downloaded and installed TmpGenc 2.525.64 from http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/e_download.html

I extracted the files and when I tried to run TmpGenc.exe I get the error message "Invalid file = please re-install". So I downloaded the file again, extracted the files, and the same thing happens.

Is the current TmpGenc download file corrupted?

TIA
Brent

Question - Need correct settings for encoding No.63065
LittleSpig04  Home )  2010-05-20 23:56:48 ( ID:patnb183lmc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Anyone know the correct settings to encode the best video possible? I film in HD, then downconvert but I want to encode so that the video fills the entire HDTV screen if played on an HDTV. Also, I don't want the video to be presented in widescreen If the video is being played on a standard tube TV, I want there to be little black on top and bottom. Thanks!

tkrave  2010-05-21 03:12:24 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How exactly do you want this to work?
Do you want widescreen video on an HD tv, and then have the sides chopped off on a 4:3 tv?
Or do you want a stretched image on a 4:3 tv? If you want to avoid the letterboxing on a 4:3 display, you'll have to do one or the other.

Question - Convert 4:3 letterboxed file to anamorphic picture No.62914

Is there a way to convert a 4:3 letterboxed movie to anamorphic?

Thanks!
jakewoodblues

tkrave  2010-05-05 10:31:14 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You'll have to "cut off" the black bars.

When you use the project wizard, select 16:9 (NTSC or PAL). This makes sure your output file will be tagged as a 16:9 video.

In the 3rd stage of the Project Wizard in Plus 2.5, check the box for Clip frame and click on the "Settings" button.

A clip frame window appears. From here, you can cut off the top and bottom bars by increasing the values for top and bottom.

Output as normal and it should be good to go.

Question - VOB files to m2v No.43764
mgjacob  2010-03-31 21:20:02 ( ID:egj2onfvxwm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I need to convert files on a DVD (BUP, VOB, and IFO) to m2v. I can't get the program to choose any of these files as a source. What am I doing wrong?

Steve Thompson  2010-04-12 07:33:15 ( ID:bg81bjlsg/w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I need to convert a VOB I do the following.

I use a freeware version VOB convertor and save it out as an .MOV file. I take this file into Adobe Premiere where I export that out as an uncompressed .AVI file. From there I take it into TMPGenc and make an Mv2 file.

It doesn't take long and I get great results.

Take Care,
Steve
