Question - TMPGEnc says no DVD player software installed No.43722
12au6  2008-11-23 03:39:32 ( ID:4uzv/o7e10f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had TMPGEnc Plus 2.524.63.181 installed and working on my previous computer.
I built a new computer, re-installed, and re-registered the program. However
when I set up to encode an AVI to MPEG-2 the following error pops up:
"To playback MPEG-2 file, DVD player software needs to be installed on your system. MPEG-2 files cannot be played without such playback software" If I proceed on anyway the image does not show up in the preview window, and the output file only has sound (no video). I have a DVD burner installed, and I can play DVDs with either Windows Media player or Roxio Cineplayer (so that says I have a CODEC installed). I tried un-installing and re-installing the program.
Both the old and new computers are running Windows XP. Ideas?

Howdy.
I've got 2 copies of TMPGENC, One I bought as an "add-on deal" with DVD-LAB PRO, they must have swung a deal with Pegasus, whatever.

The other is a paid-for TMPGENC PLUS 2.5 (2.58.44.152).

Both act very strange on my computer (XP Pro with latest updates)

Occasionally they freeze, quite often they simply disappear after loading a movie file. (like "gone" off the map)

Lately they are refusing to open AVI files that were produced in the exact same format that they opened seamlessly a month back.

anyone else have these problems? any fixes?

thanks for any help!

Frisk

Question - Outdated serial number? No.43718
xZeroSignalx  2008-11-06 23:24:07 ( ID:btiz9varlik )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I purchased TMPGEnc Plus a few years ago, however, it fell into disuse for some time as I was doing other things. I dug up my serial number in a three year old text file last night and tried to register with it, but it is not working. The last time I used TMPGEnc, it required activation and the entering of the serial number was different (it was broken up in segments in separate fields). Do I have any recourse in getting it to work as I did purchase the software before. Thanks.

Sorry-a lil late but better than never.
I had that same issue with some avi audio years ago.
Get the audio decompressor ver 1.4 and decompress the audio to a wav. The decompressed movie file name will now contain .pcm at the end.
The file will be considerably larger until you reencode and recompress the audio (lame mp3 etc).

Question - recoding MPEG II No.43714
ipod-Ralf  2008-10-30 08:03:16 ( ID:xjvvhrpqmpo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there,

what should I purchase if I only need the MPEGII codec from TMPGENC?

Background:
- Input: MPEGII stream with separated MP2 stereo (surround) audio stream
- Output: same but smaller file size, and cropping and aspect ratio changed
- No cutting is required; I use Mpeg2Schnitt for cutting prior recoding

Somebody suggested me to look at TmpgEnc to achieve small size but good quality.
But I don't know what exact product I should buy (minimum cost).

Your precious help is appreciated.
Thanks, Ralf

Question - Where is the full version of TMPGEnc 2.525? No.43710
markcasey  2008-09-30 11:15:15 ( ID:clor.84x7x6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just registered my serial for TMPGenc on the site. (https://secure.pegasys-inc.com/regist/reg_product.php)

And it's showing me the latest version as 2.524.63.181.

Yet when I look on http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/download.html I see the latest (free/crippled) version at 2.525.64.184.

What am I missing here?

For example: http://mark.christopher.casey.googlepages.com/tmpgenc.png

rippedoff  2008-11-14 04:53:40 ( ID:ku/hrdyiiuc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You're not missing anything. Basically if you're honest and pay for the software they give you the 4 year old version, while the free version is actually kept up to date.

Here's the email I got when I asked about this:

"Free version and Retail version are different, the Retail latest version
is 2.524.63.181, and the Free version is 2.525.64.184, so if you want to
use the Free version just download and install it.
Basically this Free version 2.525.64.184 is just the same as Retail
version."

Um, the free version only allows MPEG-2 for 30 days then cripples it to MPEG-1, nice try though.

You would think a company selling software would actually make updates for their paid software, but I guess they'd rather screw around paying customers.

tkrave  2009-01-17 02:21:53 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Of course there's a difference between the free and paid versions; why else would one be free and the other not?

They're trying to say that ultimately they are the same, but the free one only allows MPEG-2 output for 30 days. If you want MPEG-2 output for more than 30 days, then you have to buy the 2.5 Plus version. There are licensing fees attached to the MPEG-2 format, which is why you have to pay for it.

The free version was updated to include banner ads, otherwise, it's the same as it was in the prior version. Since the paid version does not need banner ads, it wasn't updated.

Yes, this software is old, but people still use it and so they probably want to keep the paid version around in case people want the MPEG-2 output.

No one is forcing you to buy it, and you can always buy their newer software like TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress.

Question - new to tmpgenc No.43709
malcolmsmill  2008-09-26 02:59:00 ( ID:.xsmqj5fte2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am completely new to this and on too much painkiller.

I have an mpeg2 movie file (mine, NOT a commercial or Ripped film) which is fully edited and sync'ed.

How do I get it from its mpg file to the DVD... standard 4.7 dvd PAL standard DVD resolution.

I normally use nero7 as my burner.

Question - Strange xvid problem No.43706
Ork_dreadnought  2008-09-24 17:36:46 ( ID:pd3w0fveewo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

I've been converting some vid files (avi xvid), but something odd is happening on a few of them. Specifically, a file which has a running time of 24ish minutes, is being interpretted as 1 hour long, and is encoded as such. Essentially the last frame is held in the main screen, and the output ends up as being roughly twice the size I need to be, and in at least one instance, the audio didn't work. Where am I going wrong?

Thanks

Ahh, I think I got it fixed. Sorry.

Question - Installation error No.43703
Laura Leff  Home )  2008-09-21 23:39:49 ( ID:huukipzii6l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have downloaded the freeware version of TMPGEnc 2.5 and am trying to install it. When I open the folder that was downloaded, I select the application file, tell it to run, then I get the TMPGEnc splash screen. Looks promising.

But then when I click OK on the splash screen, it gives a little window that says "Invalid file. Please re-install."

I've tried this running the files off the Cnet page as well, and get the same thing. Any idea what is causing this? I have TMPGEnc 1.5 installed already.

Have you extracted the .zip properly? Did you use subfolder info? Succesfully extracted TMPGEnc folder has three subfolders (ad, help, template).

Bug report - Illegal MPEG video stream No.43701
lwc  2008-09-15 19:10:12 ( ID:xgujja1uzsj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a MPEG1 file that can be played just fine, but I can't cut it after the 45 minute mark. For example, I can tell TMPEGEnc to make a new file that contains 00:05:00-00:06:00 or 00:15:00-00:19:00, but not a new file that contains 00:55:00-00:59:00 or 01:10:00-01:15:00 (I then get the aforementioned error, because it's a segment that is above 45:00).

lwc  2008-09-17 18:06:45 ( ID:xgujja1uzsj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Demuxing and re-muxing it made no difference (tried doing it in multiple programs), but I've finally managed to solve it via the exclusive "Repacketize" feature in M2-Edit Pro. Now it's editable in TMPGEnc. Why is that?
