so im trying to encode my file to xvid in tmpgenc, only problem is im not seeing the xvid codec in the dropdown when i got to file output to file avi
anyone ever had this error and knows how to fix it?
Verify that you have properly installed Xvid on your system first. Go into control panel > sound and audio devices > Hardware tab > select video codec and hit properties > then select properties tab. If you did everything correctly then Xvid codec should appear here.
Restart TXP4 then under format select AVI file output and hopefully its on the list.

Played around a bit with TMPGEnc now for a while and had to use "Merge & Cut" for the first time.
My problem is:
I can type in start and end point under "edit" but I can't drag & hold the slider.

I have installed a trial version.
When I try to edit a MPEG file and to visualize the video, I have no sound.
To obtain the sound I have to click twice on the "Mute" botton.
However, when I make the conversion, I obtain a MPEG file without sound, even if in the status bar the audio conversion is indicated.
Any solution???
Thats a bit weird, can you tell me what audio codec your source file uses? TMPGEnc 2.5 only supports Linear PCM, MP2, and maybe AC3 if you buy their AC3 plug-in. You're probably missing a codec.
i have downloaded the application and extracted it too any old place (maybe my first mistake) and then i get the templates and extract them too where is specified in the guide i am using.
but upon opening the application i dont see the option other and when i went ahead anyway and tried using just a ntsc format it said that the avi file i wanted to convert i got an error message,,,
can someoone run me through how to get the application and the templates to work together please...

all i want too do is convert avi files into kvcd to be able to burn onto cd-r,s and watch on my dvd player...
I'm assuming you are referring to the settings template .mcf files. These you will want to extract it to ~\TMPGEnc 2.5\Template\Extra\ directory then click on the Load button on the lower right corner between setting and save button. You can also manually locate the .mcf file anywhere you extract it to on your HDD.
But it seems like this might not be your main problem. If you get an error message like that then there might be something wrong with your AVI file. Could be that you don't have the codec to decode it.
I 've got a question about using TMPGEnc 2.5 free with an external mpeg2 video encoder.
The functions in TMPEGEnc are really good and the mpeg2 encoder which I bought with a videosoftware only supports choosing vcd-, svcd- or dvd-quality. And that are extremly poor possibilities.
Is it possible to use the encodingoptions available by the free TMPEGEnc Software with my mpeg2 encoder?
I don't think so, TMPGEnc 2.5 doesnt use command line so it doesnt support 3rd party very well. Why not just buy the TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus version, that supports MPEG-2, its well worth the $37 bux.
I got an issue....I'm trying to encode an AVI film to MPG so I can get it to DVD, the only problem is that after the encode, I tried it to make sure the audio was in synch only to find out that the encode turned out black and white (although the audio WAS in synch). This has only happened the one time and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why?
Only place in TMPGEnc 2.5 I can think of to turn your video to black and white is the Custom color correction filter > Saturation set to -255. If that filter isn't on then its probably your external codec that caused this problem. This software is pretty solid to make a mistake like that, so I usually suspect codec or something on your system screwing things up.
Hmm...can't find a color correction option anwhere, it's also happened with another file, too, although that one played in color with vlc but not in wmp. Where would this option be? I'd like to check that
Found it, but it wasn't checked so I don't think that could be it. They're basically just xvids, one came as two files, so I've joined them and tried to re-encode and it ends up black and white, the other was one file and that was also black and white. Originally I thought it may be because I joined the two files, but the second one was only one, so I'm stuck as to what could be causing it
Thats a bit puzzling, you were able to view it in color with VLC but not with WMP? I would suspect problems with WMP and not the encoder or the source file. Try going into WMP > View > Enhancements > Video Settings and check your Saturation setting.
Another way to confirm if your newly encoded file is black & white is to import it back into TMPGEnc 2.5 and watch the preview. I don't think having a black and white clip joined with a color would turn the whole video into black and white so this little issue might be just from WMP.
Well, I stuck it on a DVD using tmpgenc dvd author and that was Black and White on my dvd player, that's how I noticed it in the first place......it's baffling me, it really is
It all depends on your source file and system. TMPGEnc 2.5 is the same for all computers, so if theres any problems its very likely to be either your source video or your system.
With that said, the increased speed is probably a codec corruption that's taking your system resource and or having difficulties reading your source file. Best way to fix it is to find out more details on your source file and double check your system for any particular codec conflict or corruption. Another piece of advice, don't ever install FFDShow filter or codec packs unless you are an experience user, it will only cause more trouble.
I combine audio and video by Mpeg tool and the result file MPG have sound. But when I use the merge and edit function to cut a part from the MPG file. The result is no sound but the file before edit is normal. I cannot find what I did it is wrong. Please help. Thank you very much.
Can you give me some details on your source file? codec for both video and audio. Are you able to see the audio input if you manually import the video? I'm guessing you might be missing a codec, likely MP3 codec if its AVI file, AC3 if you have MPEG.
I recommend downloading GSpot to check your source file to find the codec and download the appropriate one.
My dvd player plays Xvid ,so when i goto a family gathering I like to bering dvd's for the kids to watch ,So I rip the dvd to avi and one set of english sub(some of the older people watch as well) and I hard code them using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5.So i just put the sub pack in the same folder as the avi I am codeing it to and click save as>avi...then i select my xvid codec and i set my audio as WMA V2 @ 128kbps, 48 khz,stereo 15/kb/s(my player only decodes Compression format : Dolby Digital, MP3, PCM, WMA
MP3 bit rates : 32 - 256 kbps and no matter what it freezes at 51%
It might be easier to use TMPGEnc 2.5 for encoding just the video without subtitles. Subtitles isn't supported natively in TMPGEnc 2.5 so are you using a plug-in? From my experience, plug-ins from 3rd party will cause problems so its better to just use the program for what its good at then use VirtualDub to overlay the subtitles and do a quick recompress, all of it should take a few minutes.
i've been having this problem for a month now. i don't know what else to do. TMPGEnc never failed any of my files before.
i'd like to convert an avi file to mpg with subtitle.
but everytime i tried, the audio wont come out. but when i did it without inserting the subtitle, there's no audio problem.
what is wrong with it? i've used TMPGEnc to convert many of my avi files to mpg with subtitle before but like i said, it never failed me until this time.
