Ok, here's the deal... Ill give an example to start out. I used to be able to encode a fairly high-quality DivX file (with 2.5) that would be about 2 hours, and it would take only about 2.5 hours total (converting to mpeg2 for dvd). Now I go to do it today with a few videos, and a 2-hour vid is taking about 4 hours. Any reason why this could be? I have no extra processes running, have used the exact same settings (even tried encoding at lower quality, but still slow), and I haven't changed any hardware or anything. I'm stumped! My guess is that I might need to defrag since I have been doing so much downloading, transfers, encoding, etc lately. I'll give that a shot, but does anyone have any other ideas why?

I am getting impatient! After many attempts to encode 110 minutes mpg VBR from a 22GB AVI huffyuv, I conclude that TMPEG is just not suited for the job. I've used this freeware program for years but the bugs are starting to annoy me. I know TMPEG can't join files without bugging them, but now it seems, it also can't encode files without bugging them.

I get several error messages when I open the encoded mpeg1 file in VirtualDub. Anachronistic timestamps indicates improper joining. But I haven't "joined" the file at all... Audio & Video was encoded in "one go" with VirtualDub frameserving.

I want an error free encoding, so I can be sure the file will play one any DVD hardware player.

Could you please direct me to another freeware program?

I used tmpeg to convert an avi file to an mpeg file, everything works fine, except the audio cuts out at the last minute, wouldn't be a problem but it cuts out what someone is saying :( does tmpeg automatically fade out the volume or something? if so, how do i change it?

No, TMPGEnc does not automatically fade out the volume. My guess is that your audio and video streams are different in length.

Another reason is if the input audio is VBR, TMPG doen't handle it
too well.

I have a bunch of videos that are 352x240 and when i burn them to a Vcd and play them in my Dvd player the picture is all stretched and blurred. They only look good shrunk down in their original size on my computer. So i have 2 questions.

1. Is there a way to convert them so they don't get stretched and stay their original size?

2. Or is there a way to put Black Borders around them so they don't get stretchced.

hello all ive been useing tmpgenc 2.5 plus for a wile now and i just recently have been haveing a audio problem were all you hear is a tick noise on any video you put in the conveter i haver messed around with the settings to see if i can fix it but it did not help so if ANYONE has ANY info concerning my problem much abliged if you could share it with me. tmpgenc 2.5 plus is the best video converter i have ever used or seen and i would hate to have to use another video converter that is not tmpgenc 2.5 plus so plez anyone asist me

Will TMPGEnc 2.5 ever be updated to High Definition encoding? It's been almost 2 years all ready.

I had to reinstall TMPGenc after a format anf everytime I try to convert a avi file to svcd the out put file is almost 3gig were as before it was converting to about 1.2 gig,

well, i had the same problem. you gotta go in setting> advanced > source range( click twice) > then, you edit ur files like you want :P

hello everybody. i did a "great codec update" (one of those huge packages of 40 MB) same days ago... after that TMPG did not decode WMV files any more - before it worked perfectly. Well, i uninstalled that package and reinstalled all the codecs i had on my system before (hope so at least). I read all the other questions about wmv. I have installed WMV Codec 9 (the file is running on WMP) and Direct Show is set to a high prio... so what's wrong here? What codec do i need to convert WMV in TMPG - or where can i load th VFAPI Plugin? Thanx fpr response. spcmnk

I successfully installed TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus and DVD Author 2.0 on my laptop, but I want to installed TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus on my desktop computer at home, so I can de-interlace some videos while I'm away.

The desktop used to have the free version on it. I tried to use Windows XP's "add/remove programs" uninstaller to remove it, but it didn't work...it flashed a window really quickly but then didn't do anything else, and TMPGEnc remained on the list of installed programs. I deleted all the files and removed the registry entries by hand.

When I try to install 2.5 Plus, the version I paid for, I get an error that says: Error 1714: the older version of TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.

So how do I fix this?
