Question - Frameserving from virtualDub No.36268
Easg  2003-04-14 21:07:51 ( ID:wyvkxbifkdc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have problem opening a frameserved avi file from VirtulaDub with TMPGEnc this display the followin error message "File not compatible cannot open the file" o something like that, how can i make it top work, I use virtualDub because I need the subtitles.

wcpaul  2003-04-14 21:47:51 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In VFAPI environment settings, try unchecking the Directshow File Reader. This solved a problem for me yesterday where reading a .vdr file hung the program.

Ashy  2003-04-14 22:36:26 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you installed the frame server?

ASHY

Easg  2003-04-15 17:23:40 ( ID:wyvkxbifkdc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The problem is that when I start TMPGEnc and select the vdr file the virtualDub Crash, the frameserver is already installed.

Ashy  2003-04-16 01:42:35 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here is a test to determine whether the problems lies with TMPG or Virtualdub.

Create another VDR file then open another instance of Virtualdub. If the file loads ok into Virtualdub itself then the problem is with TMPG.

If this is the case you may just need to disable directshow, reduce the other priorities to 0 and increase the VFW filter to 2.

If this still causes problems try installing the ReadAVS.dll plugin.

Yes you can use Vobsub with AVIutil.

Question - Video Freezing, audio Ok when converting mpg2->mpg1. No.36266
mactrash  2003-04-14 18:27:18 ( ID:0onycomlewl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello all!!

Please, I need help urgent!

I need import several mpg2 (720x486 D1 aspect, with fields) + wav (48khz stereo) to make mpg1 files (320x240 square aspect 3000 bitrate, 44khz stereo 160 bitrate)

Problem: Some times video stops somewhere at middle to end of the file; audio runs ok.

The original files comes from DPS Velocity, a professional non-linear video editing system. It exports mpg2+wav files and I join this files into a smaller mpg1 with audio. This files are send to clients to be aproved, so they must go with no errors.

Any Idea?

(please, sorry my poor english. This is the reason of my "spartan" frase, but I'm really desesperated)

Thanks very much

Mac

You will probably have better results if you used DVD2AVI to frame serve the Mpeg2 files to Tmpgenc, It is a Faster method and it usually is a More trouble Free method of encodeing Mpeg2 files...

Question - Xvid No.36260
DivX  2003-04-14 16:08:30 ( ID:j4d.z9tcmhk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello.

Has anyone found a way to use Xvid movies.

I'm trying to covert Xvid movies downloaded to DVD or Svcd but I keep getting invalid pointer .... error messages.

I use Virtual dub to split them into 2 and then use TmpgEnc. I've tried just making one DVD or 2 SVcd. The DVD using the standard setting's and skipping VirualDub. Or Svcd using cq65, 480x480 and 1800-4000.

Any suggestions. I've even tried downloading the Xvid codec...

Steven

Minion  2003-04-14 20:55:41 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You might try useing the "FFDShow" decoder to decode the Files instead of useing the XviD codec, this usually solves some of the Problem ascosiated with encodeing XviD files..

DivX  2003-04-16 15:37:01 ( ID:j4d.z9tcmhk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It seems now a lot of movies I download and try to convert are giving me error messages. Could it be I have install extra codec's?

I'll look at home and get the error message if it helps.

I've made 400 movies no problem and now I'm having error messages. Tried even reinstalling the program.

After uninstalling and installing FFshow Xvid is nolonger supported. I've looked to see if any other xvid codecs are installed but cant see any.

Xvid is listed in FFShow and I have installed it 2x.

Question - Need Help With MOV to MPEG No.36256
mickey_mouse_ls_the_anti_christ  2003-04-14 07:03:50 ( ID:l8jvylwfmol )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have two problems the first and more serious of the two is that when i convert a mov file to mpeg the audio is missing, i downloaded the quicktime plugin, but all i have is video, the secoond problem is that when i play the converted file the aspect ratio looks like it's 16:9 and the mov source file isn't 16:9 i tried adjusting the aspect ratio before converting but no matter what i set it to the ratio stays 16:9, any help on these problems qould be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Minion  2003-04-14 08:19:11 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well if you can"t get audio then extract the audio from the Mov file to a Wav file and use that as the audio source..as for the aspect ratio try setting the "Video arrange Method" to Fullscreen Keep aspect ratio" and if for some reason that doesn"t work try experimenting with the "Clip Frame" setting and Video arange methods...

lupy  2003-04-14 14:18:40 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

sometimes the audio in quicktime movies is not extractable (to stop ppl copy the file?). Try rad video tools or capture audio directly using sound recorder soft like total recorder.

Question - When I convert asf to mpeg my stytems hangs at 5 percent No.36254

Anyone no what to do when your system hangs?

Minion  2003-04-13 23:07:40 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ASF Files are extremely Error Prone because of the extremely high compression ratio, and when Tmpgenc encounters one of these errors it can freeze up or crash and that is what is Probably happening, you can try a tool called "ASF-Fix" to try to fix any errors in the File, and Raiseing the Direct show might help also...

Question - block patterns thru out my mpegs No.36252
killjoy  2003-04-13 17:28:17 ( ID:9iu50vc3czh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

why does all my mpegs after running tmpg get blocky?

Minion  2003-04-13 23:04:37 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Blockyness is a Sure sign that the Bitrate is Much too low, if you are doing Standard VCD"s then you will usually get Blockyness cuz the VCD standard uses a Really low bitrate...Also if you use the Resize to increase the Resolution too much this can cause Blockyness and so will low quality source files. The "Remove Block Niose" setting can help a Bit but increaseing the Bitrate is the only real was to eliminate the Blockyness...

Question - Simple way to Decode DVD file VOB No.36247
QNGO  2003-04-13 03:41:51 ( ID:z9hc.bhfquj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using TMPGEnc to decode DVD file " VOB"

The decoders

Free Nimo Codec Pack
Remember when you install the Nimo Codec Pack you need install ' Full'.
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html

Or you can try this one DVD Decoder Pack For Windows XP It good but you have to pay it.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/windowsxp/buypacks.aspx
OR you can dowload it from kazaa share user.
search DVD Decoder

Minion  2003-04-13 05:02:30 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpgenc was allways able to decode VOB files But "ONLY" the Video unless the audio isn"t AC3 and "ONLY" with the Specific Mpeg2 decoders that are supported By Tmpgenc which are the "Ligos Decoders"(In Nemo codec Pack) or the "Cyberlink" decoders (With Power DVD)..The Chances of decodeing AC3 with Tmpgenc buy just installing Nemo is very Minimal to Nill, especially with Dolby 5.1, I have had very Minimal success with 2 chanell AC3...

Ashy  2003-04-13 11:09:12 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

>Simple way to Decode DVD file VOB?

I don't think so.

As Minion says TMPG doesn't natively support decoding of AC3 audio in VOBS and even if you do manage to decode the audio in the VOB which would be a hit and miss affair, you will have no control over the tracks you can select.

Also if you were lucky enough to decode the right audio track, TMPG will not decode VOBs with audio as sequential files which means you would have to encode each VOB seperately and then join the resulting files together at a risk of sync probs and artifacts where the join is.

SO the 'Simple way to Decode DVD file VOB?'. My advice is stick to DVD2AVI people which is proven to be the most reliable, best quality and fastest way to decode VOBS.

Kika  2003-04-14 14:26:58 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hm, maybe the good old Smartripper is a good choice. It can do a complete Demultiplexing (Stream Processing) of all the Streams on a DVD.

And to decode the Videopart or if only a VOB and no DVD to decode... as Ashy said, there's no better Program than DVD2AVI.

bestgoat  2003-04-19 19:47:45 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use dvd2avi, and it decodes the vob files, AND creates a wav file from the audio, so as long as you can get the video encoded to Mpeg, which is my problem, you dont need to have the video unless you plan on keeping it on your computer. Use the original wav file from dvd2avi for you audio in final encode

Question - get rid of hidden tmpgenc files after deleting demo and installing full version No.36244
fivestar238  2003-04-12 16:44:16 ( ID:euhmkdghlvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I downloaded a demo of tmpgenc which expired, I then deleted the demo and installed a full version of tmpgenc, but the full version must be corrupted by hidden files because the full version has not worked properly (always freezes in the process of encoding). Can anyone tell me what I can do to make it work properly

Minion  2003-04-12 21:23:44 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Demo doesn"t Have ANY Hidden Files, what you download is all there is, it does add certain Registry entries But this doesn"t effect how the Program runs..Your Problem is Probably more related to The Files you are encodeing and the settings used as opposed to remnant files from the demo....

Question - MPEG cutting program No.36242

I thought I would share this alternative to TMPG for people having problems cutting and joining their files.
This program has a visual display, an accurate cut setting and is easy to use and can join as well as cut MPEGs.

Here is also a freeware Mpeg2 editor Based on DVD2AVI, it only Cut"s Mpeg2 files and doesn"t join them but it is pretty fast and it is free, still have a couple bugs But it is worth a Try, it is called "Mpeg2Cut" and you can get it here: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/mpeg2cut.html

I would like to know how to subtitle a movie using TMPGEnc

Minion  2003-04-12 21:31:40 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpgenc does not Do the Subtitles, you need to use something like Virtual Dub with the Subtitle Plugin and you need to have the Subtitle file, then you frame serve your AVI file with the Subtitles to Tmpgenc which will encode the File to Mpeg with the Subtitles...

rodrigotr  2003-04-15 22:35:36 ( ID:oft4xrdavjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

if you have ffdshow in your computer, leave the name of video file and subtitle file the same (namevideofile = namesubtitlefile). after that, use TMPGEnc, and converts divx to mpeg. then you split the file 2 equal parts, using DVtool.exe.
and you use VCDEasy to record the disc.

What's wrong with using TMPG to do the cutting?
