Question - Video freeze in MPG-VCD but AVI plays No.33785
Flang  2003-01-20 22:16:26 ( ID:lkpdzmtqwoo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I looked through all the messages but have not seen my problem.
When encoding from AVI-DivX to MPG-1 VCD the video freezes, audio continues with no error messages. The AVI plays just fine though the point that it freezes during the encode process. If the AVI were corrupt at the freeze point, wouldn't it stop playing ? Is there any easy way around the problem ?

Thanks -

Sorry for the almost same post as another user.

There is a Little Tool called DivX-FiX that is supposed to fix Frozen Frames in a DivX file, Maybe that would help you ..Look for it on a Search engine...

I just had this same issue. this guide explains how to correct Divx/Xvid avi's with bad frames in them so you can load them into TMPGenc and encode properly

Before the completion of converting an avi file I was forced to stop the process and save the file which was about 1/2 completed. I cannot reload the file and continue the process. Will I have to start the process over again or is there a way to load the saved file?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

ASHY  2003-01-20 22:17:42 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Find out what the last frame was that was encoded then use the source range feature to begin encoding from the next frame after that.
After completion join the 2 parts with the merge&cut tool in the MPEGtools.

Question - Why doesn't match Video and Audio after Cutting? No.33779
Flo  2003-01-20 20:30:48 ( ID:fzvlab1ptwg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I'm trying do cut my video with 'Source Range' in the Project Wizard (cutting out commercials)the audio track seems not to be cut and video and audio doesn't match any more. Can anybody help???
I'm using TMPEGEnc Ver. 2.510.49.157

Brian  2003-01-20 21:14:16 ( ID:gfo3sfpr5rm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm guessing your using the mpeg tools section. I've had the same problem when set to mpeg1-auto. My projects were vcd format, so I had to set to the type to mpeg1-vcd and all was good. Hope it helps.

Minion  2003-01-20 22:49:23 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have tried to Use the "Cut Editing" feature in the "Source Range" to Edit out Comercials and the audio allways allways went out of sync, this is Probably Because AVI files have to be edited on a KeyFrame or the audio will go out of sync ..I don"t think there is Much you can do in Tmpgenc to fix this, What I end up doing Takes Up a lot of time and is a Hassle But it works, what I do is Just actually edit out the Comercials with Virtual Dub then Use the Edited File in Tmpgenc...

I have 2 problems, please help me.

Problem (1); each time y try to encode an avi file to mpeg1 or mpeg 2 the result is not good. The final file shows horizontal lines distorsioning the image. it is like the image wolud be interlacing or something like that.

Problem (2); After installing tmpegenc Plus, media player does not work correctly.I can not play all the avi files that i colud before. I cant play any mpeg1 file, while i hadnt this problem before. Why?

Thank you.

Minion  2003-01-20 22:43:24 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Those Horizontal Lines ARE interlace Lines, they are a Fundamental Part of the Video and not some sort of aberation..These Lines show up on your Monitor Cuz you monitor Displays a progressive Image so the Lines will Be much more Visible, they Should not Show up on a NTSC TV Set...But if you really want to get rid of them then try one of the Deinterlace Filters that will get rid of the Lines But you will loose a Bit of the Sharpness of the Image...

jor14  2003-01-20 23:13:50 ( ID:fglzfyzke72 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you very much, Minion.

I think that that the first problem is solved. I have realized that the horizontal lines that i refered only appeared on the preview window but not in the final file.

The second problem is still. I have reinstalled media player (version 9). But its imposible to play mpeg1, vcd, or dvd. When i play that kind of files only sound is played while screen is on black. I hadnt that problem before installing TMPGENCPLUS.
Have you any solution for this problem. Thank you again.

Minion  2003-01-21 02:13:24 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Can"t use Tmpgenc and Media Player 9 together on the same Machine at least with Most Poeple...it isn"t a Tmpgenc Problem But a Media Player 9 Problem seeing as Tmpgenc came out Way Before Media Player 9 came out..MP9 also Causes Many Problems with Other programs Cuz it seems to interfere with Certain programs when trying to Connect to certain Codecs...This is a Well Known problem and the Only way I know of to fix it is to do a "System Restore" to an earlier Point before you Installed MP9...

I get an audio only output file (wave sound file),with no video when setting the trial version of TMPGEnc to DVD-NTSC. I need an output file that has sound and video (DVD-NTSC), do I need to use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5?, or pay for the full version? (US $50)

Question - External program - tooLame error No.33770
BubbaLeRoy  2003-01-20 18:53:52 ( ID:dvob6yf7wf6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just started to use SSRC for frequency conversion and tooLame for my layer II audio encoder. My first SVCD (Sopranos season 1 epsode 1 backup) worked just fine (source dvd2avi 192, 48, 2ch AC3 to wav). My second one (episode 2), SSRC processes then tooLame fails with, Error opening mpa-4.wav (i think that is the file name, I'm at work now). Do not cache is checked. Temp directory is set and has plenty of space. The file is there. I have rebooted and cleaned the temp directory, Same problem occurs again. Encoding works using SSRC with built-in encoder. Other settings, stream type system, mpeg1 layer II, 44100, stereo, 192kbps, error protection, audio edit change volume 200%. Any help would be appreciated. I'll retest with episode 3 at lunch or this evening.

Minion  2003-01-20 22:39:02 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well you Can Just use a Total seperate Audio encoder and encode the wav file to Mp2 then Mux it with the encoded Video..I use "Headac3he" to encode My Audio files ,It is a Very High Quality audio encoder...

BubbaLeRoy  2003-01-21 04:20:17 ( ID:7rkyoga0jww )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Looks good. I was having a look at BeSweetGUI. HeadAC3he looks easier to configure and uses pretty much the same utilities.

Thanks,
Mark

Question - premature TMPGEnc shutdown No.33767
dirtbag  2003-01-20 18:33:11 ( ID:m9uvrjlxmmk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I set up TMPGEnc to convert .avi file to .mpg file TMPGE will run for 95% of the file and then stop and shut down with out completing the job.

Here are the steps I take in using TMPGEnc:

Convert .avi file to .mpg movie file with TMPGEnc wizard...

1/5 choose VideoCD NTSC
2/5 choose your video file (.avi) and the audio file (.wav) you created
3/5 choose other settings
choose advanced tab
go to Video Arrange Method
choose Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)
select OK
4/5 select CDr 80
5/5 rename file
uncheck start

Go to file and choose preview to check settingsEBR>If everything checks OK then startEBR>
Half of the files I convert work just fine. They go through the conversion process and at the end of the conversion my finish .wav plays and I have the completed .mpg file. The other half converts almost to the end and then TMPGEnc just shuts down and I get an incomplete .mpg file.

Am I missing something??? Any suggestions would be appreciatedEBR>

Minion  2003-01-20 22:36:43 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well there Might be something wrong with the AVI file at the point were it Stops encodeing..if these Files are downloaded off the net then that can very well be the case..You can try to Maybe frame serve the file and see if that works...

dirtbag  2003-01-22 04:11:42 ( ID:m9uvrjlxmmk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So sorry...TMPGEnc is not the problem...

I read on one of the boards about a shutdown problem if TMPGEnc runs out of audio and that is what is happening. My audio file was corrupt or to short for some reason. It had something to do with how the audio was compressed. When the audio ran out TMPGEnc would just close.

When I made an uncompressed audio file with virtualdub and then did the .avi to .mpg conversion with TMPGEnc it worked much much better.

Thanks for your suggestion...I donÃÕ know what frame serve is so I did a search for a tool to check for a corrupt .avi. My .avi tested OK and that lead me to some information about a possible audio problem. Sure enough my audio file was x minutes shorter than my video file. Does that make sense to you???

Thanks again...

PS...if you could direct me to some info on what ÅÇrame serve the fileEis all about. IÃÅ like to read up on it just in case...db

Question - Interlaced fields not frames as source No.33760
LamarMcLouth  2003-01-20 18:14:40 ( ID:vodb7pztbsk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I sent this once before but noone responded.

I have source video stored as fields; that is, file p00000.jpg is the odd
lines and p00001.jpg is the even lines (or vice-versa).

Is there a way in TMPGEnc or TMPGEnc Plus to have these fields combined
into a frame and then encoded?

Thanks all for your help. Please reply here and to my E-Mail address.

ASHY  2003-01-20 22:21:21 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No not possible with TMPG as it will just treat each .jpg as a seperate frame and don't really know of any software which can deal with induvidual fields. This seems like a very strange way to capture images. What software did you use?

ASHY

ASHY  2003-01-20 22:43:04 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you actually just tried loading the .JPGs into TMPG and watching the result and maybe try using the 'double' de-interlacing filter?

ASHY

Minion  2003-01-21 01:53:38 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you can Encode all the JPEG Fields into a AVI file you can use the Bob De-interlace filter in V-Dub to turn each Field into a Frame, you would loose a Little Definition But it still Might work...Just a Thought...

B_Racer  2003-01-21 10:02:13 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

He can do the following:

Encode all the frames to an AVI.
Resize the Video to the half High.
Use VirtualDub-Filter Deinterlaced / Fold side-by-side fields together.
As the result, he has a true interlaced Video (if the Frames/Pictures are really out of an interlaced Video).

B_Racer  2003-01-21 10:03:58 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Oops, forgot the first step:

Combine 2 Picutes to one side by side.

wcpaul  2003-01-22 08:00:28 ( ID:7hktvp.ygm2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just happened to write the following Avisynth script to convert 59.94fps video that had been Bob deinterlaced back to interlaced. If you can get your JPEG files combined into an AVI file, this might work.

The output of this script (1440x240) can be served into Virtualdub deinterlace filter- fold fields together.

vid = AVISource("video_60fps.avi")

vid_0 = SelectEven(vid).AssumeFrameBased().SeparateFields().SelectEven()
vid_1 = SelectOdd(vid).AssumeFrameBased().SeparateFields().SelectOdd()

# StackHorizontal(vid_0, vid_1) # Bottom field first
StackHorizontal(vid_1, vid_0) # Top field first

What is your Stream Type Setting? ES (video only) ES (audio only)...System (video+audio)? TMPGEnc will create the mpeg files for you. You will then need an authoring program and burning software.

The trial version will work for 14 days.

So you are using the Project Wizard. You select DVD-NTSC, you click next, you then input your video and audio file, then you... I am making a lot of assumptions here, could you be more specific? What are the source files? What settings did you use, etc?

Minion  2003-01-21 02:17:30 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are Trying to Encode an AVI file to Mpeg2 then you can try Raiseing the Priority of the "Direct Show File Reader" in the Vfapi Plugins" to "2" this should get you a File with a Picture in it, But if you are trying to Get PCM/Wav audio then you will get 2 files, one will be a WAV audio file and the other will be a M2V Video file, you will have to Load these files into your DVD Authoring Program seperately to author your DVD....

Question - Converting VCD to DVD No.33753
dcseuss  2003-01-20 16:56:12 ( ID:ui2pyrpew6. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am converting some VCD's to DVD. I was following a guide from afterdawn.com. I go to the MPEG Tools, and choose the Simple De-multiplex. I choose the input from the cd. I then set the video & audio output to my hd. It appears to work fine however when I pull the new movie up in DVDit LE, It did not do all of the movie. Does anyone have any suggestions.
