Question - Audio Probs No.33174
Joe  2003-01-09 21:29:00 ( ID:syux1qgpa5j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using TMPGEnc I am trying to encode a vcd file to make vcd from dvd.

When I play back the captured audio file alone it is fine....when doing a test encoding the audio is choppy.....kinda like it is under water.
I am using a wav file as the audio source as suggested.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Joe

ASHY  2003-01-09 21:42:14 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You don't really need to re-encode if the format is MPEG1 VCD.

This can be imported directly into your authoring software and burned as as an MPEG1 DVD.

I am having problems converting avi files to mpeg -- there is no sound. I put the audio settings at 400% but still noting. What am I doing wrong???

blastfm  2003-01-09 21:34:53 ( ID:9pjo9a8thng )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm getting the same problem...I also noticed that after the conversion, an AVI file that apporx 90mins long, becomes 300+ mins long. But the rest of the file after the 90 mins is just blank. Please help.

anandrag  2003-01-09 21:37:48 ( ID:uuphuflo/tc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Could it be because it is a DVIX coded mpeg? Does TMPGEnc not handle that properly?

Tomo  2003-01-09 21:56:48 ( ID:nsbkh5almbg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

extract the audio from the avi file to a wav file... using"virtualdub"then insert the avi movie into tmpg and the wav file u extracted.

Bug report - Using TMPEnc with Premiere and AVISynth No.33169
coeng  2003-01-09 20:07:19 ( ID:zfogcfaiisc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a question concerning the AVISynth method of converting AVIs to MPEG-2 (using AVISynth as a file server between Premiere 6.0 and TMPGEnc) that I found posted on vcdhelp.com and I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I followed the instructions to the very end. When I viewed the MPEG-2 file (which is of superb quality) there are portions of my video where it pauses on a single frame for 2 to 3 seconds. This happens 4 or 5 times in my video causing my audio to lose sync with the video. Do you have any idea how this may have happened or what I can do to eliminate this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm trying to cut & merge some mpeg2 files but the output files never contain any audio stream. When demuxing, tmpgenc labels the audio stream as: "private_stream_1 (0x80) Dolby AC3 48000 256 kbps".
Any idea what's going wrong?
I'm using version 2.58.44.152

ASHY  2003-01-09 21:46:24 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry your out of luck TMPG just will not do this in any version when using the Merge&Cut. You will always lose the audio part.

Thanks for your input, ashi.
In the mean time (2 hours later), I did found a method however:
1. Convert ac3 to wav using dvd2avi
2. converted wav to mp2 with tmpgenc
3. muxed mp2 with m2v into mpg file using tmpgenc
4. cut mpg file with tmpgenc
A bit complicated but it works!

To convert VOBs to wav files use VOB2AUDIO. Much faster and better at it.

Question - What is the function of Cut Editing No.33161
DaveD  2003-01-09 17:48:12 ( ID:uibbmstdila )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In the later versions of TMPGEnc, there is a Cut Editing button on the source range page. What does this do besides changing the range and resolution of the slider positioned underneath the preview pane. Am I missing something? It would be nice if I could create two batch files using something like this rather than having to set up the files for the first and second half of the movie separately or converting as one movie and using the MPeg Tools to split it into parts that will fit onto 800 Meg CD's. Anyone have any better ways to do this?

ASHY  2003-01-09 21:54:00 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You don't have to set up the cuts seperately. Create your first cut in the source range. Then click File>Add current project to batch list>MPEG file then name it and save it. This will be added to the list.

Do the same for the second cut then click 'Run'

The Cut editing Function is Really handy for Captured TV Shows Cuz you can use it to Set up Tmpgenc to just encode The Parts of the file you want it to encode and not encode Comercials...

I try to split up a MPEG2-file of 850 MB in TMPEGenc 2.59. I set the in and out-point and have to hit the OK-button afterwards. But when hitting the OK-button the programm freezes up and I have to Ctrl/ALT/DELETE to stop the programm. It is not responding anymore. What is going wrong ?

Thanks,

I don"t have any Idea Why,If the File was not made By Tmpgenc then it is Not supported By the editor But the Editor Is Buggy at times and there aren"t any special setting that will solve your Problem so I would sugest Getting a Real Mpeg editor...

ASHY  2003-01-10 12:23:18 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is this file high resolution? If so just wait, go and have a coffee or something.
Still problems?

Re-multiplex the file and try again.
If that doesn't work.
Just completley delete TMPG and re-install it then re-install your MPEG2 decoder or codec.

If that doesn't work then try MPEG2VCR.

Question - DVD2AVI and TMPG No.33149
Klaus Hoffmann  2003-01-09 15:46:31 ( ID:a83xghufyuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Help! Normally I've used DVD2AVI to create a .d2v file which I could simply import into TMPG and then encode the film.
Now suddenly after using the new 2.59 version I get the message "...cannot open or unsupported" whenever I try to import the file with the browse file button.
I've done this lots of time before and it always worked.
I've also checked this forum and set the options/evironmental settings/vfapi plugin/direct show...parameter to "2" - but no success.
Re-installing DVD2AVI and TMPG also changed nothing.
Any idea from the experts?
Help!

regards

Klaus

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I'm getting error message "can not open or unsupported". I tried your suggestion and I moved the dvd2avi.vfp file to the TMPGenc folder, yet I'm still getting the same error message.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Minion  2003-01-10 04:24:08 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well Go to The "Vfapi Plugins" and see if the DVD2AVI.vfp Plugin is Listed there, if it is Try Raiseing the Priority of it, and if that don"t work then try Makeing a New D2V file, and remember that you can not move or delete the Mpeg , Vob or D2V file untill after you have finnished encodeing the D2V file to Mpeg....

Klaus Hoffmann  2003-01-10 08:44:25 ( ID:a83xghufyuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you all - I've tried all you proposed, but the only change is that I don't have to switch to "*.* all files" in the selection box to select the d2v. Would it help to totally de-install TMPG including the registry entries (which I don't know)?

Any other suggestions?

ASHY  2003-01-10 12:01:45 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The plugin must be installed into the TMPG folder in the same place as the TMPGenc.exe file and *NOT* in the plugins folder.

If the plugin is listed in the VFAPI plugins and you have raised it's priority then the problem must be with the d2v file itself.

Create another one with DVD2AVI from the Vobs and **DO NOT** move, rename or delete the VOB's, the d2v file or any of the folders associated with it.

ASHY

ASHY  2003-01-10 12:05:12 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

P.S. also make sure the plugin actually has a check next to it in the VFAPI plugins.

Thank you very much for your efforts, Ashy! I had done all this before and checked and double-checked. Now - one hour later - I created a small d2v from a vob file and tried to import that - and suddenly it worked!
After that I tried to import a d2v that was created from another MPG2 file (and that was the case where I always failed before!) and now even this works again.!!
Perhaps this can help others who have the same problem although I have to admit that I don't understand why it works now...

regards to all who tried to help

Klaus

Question - Double screen... No.33147
Yannick'Soul  Home )  2003-01-09 15:20:52 ( ID:zgsl37wmdqo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Salut all!

#1.I'm trying to create a 4:3 PAL S-VCD wich is based on an AVI (DIVX 576x432) anime but there is a problem with the screen size. The picture is nicely and fully displayed (stereo sound is good too) but in the bottom of the TV screen, the top of the picture is displayed again. So the anime is displayed twice. I am a newbie with TMPEGenc plus 2.59 so i'm trying various screen size settings to fix this problem, but it takes many time. Maybe anyone can help me.

A>I used Windows Movie Maker in order to create chapters on the S-VCD (a PBC menu is created with Nero). The original AVI has been reencoded to a DV-AVI PAL 720x576 AVI file.

B>Last, the file is encoded to MPEG2 standard with TMPGenc2.59. A DVD PAL MPEG-2 704x576 CQ 65 mpeg file is produced.

C>This MPEG2 file is burned on a regular CD-R with Nero 5.5. The soft display a warning message : the file is not compatible with the Nero S-VCD standard. I select "unset compatible format" and burn it anyway.

The S-VCD work, including the PBC menu but the movie is displayed with a double screen...

#2.Moreover, does anyone knows if the next version of Nero will allow Schockwave SWF as background instead of the atcual BMP. It will be great if Ahead release this, we'll be able to realize animated menu like the DVD ones!

Anyway thanks for TMPEGenc plus that is a good tool.

Sorry for my english, i'm based in france.

Cool, i solve the problem by myself.

Appeared another one, bad decompression in complicated scenes.

I have to set the decompression rate manually...

Question - Converting mpeg to vcd mpeg cuts off end of movie... No.33145
carboardbob  2003-01-09 14:37:37 ( ID:hk/tjlkegll )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have two movies that are encoded mpeg1 with various parameters that are not correct for VCD. When I load up the video cd template and try to convert them the resulting movies are encoded correctly but the last 5+ minutes is cut off. What am I doing wrong? I opened the file with VirtualDub and the amount of frames is higher in vdub than what is listed in TMPGEnc but I have no idea how to resolve the issue...

spearless  2003-01-09 23:49:20 ( ID:5zujw0ub3q. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have this porblem too.. seems TMPGE gets confused if no audio stream present.. see http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=418719&highlight=tmpge+problem#418719

Might help...

Question - cant launch as user on win2000 No.33141
Phil135  2003-01-09 10:28:38 ( ID:vxqu6va2tyo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was used to TmpgEnc with win98se and had no real pb.

I now want to use it on win2000 pro sp3 in a simple user or upper user session. but the system refuse to launch the program.
(it works well when logged as administrator)

I tried to edit rights and security for the soft and for this user, but I don't found how to make it work. (I don't want to give admin right to lambda user!)

Is there something particular to configure I missed ?

Is it that TmpgEnc is so structured that it needs admin rights on each use ?

(sorry for my english, I don't practice very often )

Phil135  2003-01-09 20:15:19 ( ID:1wi3nrm.tar )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Solved:
the pb was the temporary file pointing to a folder inside "My documents" which is a controled acces.
the solution is to choose an "all users" folder.
