Question - WHy do i get poor "MEtaliic" sound when converting ? No.33131
DJ Liam  2003-01-09 10:05:36 ( ID:.w6bhe5o1ok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When converting say an SVCD to MPEG2 DVD, the sound quality has a sort of
metallic noise to it, and doesnt sound as good as the original.

Anyone Help?

if this is so, how can ichange it?

ASHY  2003-01-10 19:29:41 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are using v2.59 click Optiom>Enviromental setting>Audio engine. Where it says 'Conversion quality' check 'High quality'

This should solve your problem.
If not you can use an external encoder, SCMPX being the best one.

Another note is that you do not need to re-encode the audio.

Just goto the MPEG tools and use the simple multiplexer. Load your new DVD MPEG into Video field and your SVCD MPEG into the Audio field, name the output,
Choose 'MPEG2 program(VBR)' as the stream type and click run.

A new file will be created with the new video and original audio.

Sorry ignore this, just realised you are creating DVD. The sound will have to be re-encoded to change the samplerate yo 48khz. Please follow the previous instructions, but you will only need to re-encode the audio part with TMPG then multiplex with the DVD MPEG.

Question - Can't open d2v file No.33128
Spike  2003-01-09 09:02:17 ( ID:y8fjq8dq2lf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to go from SVCD to VCD and using DVD2AVI to create the .d2v file. When I try to open the d2v file as the video it says its not supported.

B_Racer  2003-01-09 10:22:10 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you copied the DVD2AVI.vfp into the TMPGEnc-Directory?

Denice  2003-01-10 01:57:38 ( ID:pedkjrpfzna )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm having the same problem. I copied the dvd2avi.vfp file to the TMP folder and I'm still getting the same error message.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Question - Cannot open some Avisynth scripts No.33124
Strap  2003-01-09 07:19:39 ( ID:werg/iahicc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If some onecould help me with my problem I would be very grateful as I am getting nowhere. I used the search function but my problem does not seem to be addressed.

I have two segmented files captured at 480x576 using Huffyuv under VirtualDub each of about 19 minutes each that I want to frameserve to TMPGEnc in order to create one 38 minute SVCD disk. As a newbie I understand that Avisynth is the best for joining such segmented files but I can not get all the avs scripts to load under TMPGEnc. (I normally frameserve a complete 38 minute segmented file using the VirtualDub Proxy.) Only some of them will load. Those involving segmented avi will not. They will run fine under VirtualDub but under Windows Media player 6 (Win98 default) the video and audio is out of sync, though they do run.

I have installed ReadAVS and unchecked all the plugins except Avisynth/VirtualDub script reader v0.1.

In essence, the following script will work:
AVISource("C:SafeCapture2.avi") + AVISource("C:Capture2.avi")

This script will not and I get the usual " . . . can not open or unsupported message."
AVISource("D:Disk3A.00.avi") + AVISource("D:Disk3A.01.avi") + AVISource("D:Disk3A.02.avi") + AVISource("D:Disk3A.03.avi") + AVISource("D:Disk3A.04.avi") + AVISource("D:Disk3A.05.avi")

This is only a test for the first segmented file and it won't load, yet I used the same syntax as the script that will. As I said this script will load into VirtualDub and Windows Media Player. I have reinstalled both Avisynth and TMPGEnc.

If anyone could help I would be most grateful.

Forget AVISynth For this..Tmpgenc can now Load segmented files, as of Version 2.59 you just have to name your files like "File#001.avi ,File#002.avi ECT" and the files will load in order Just like AVISynth would do it..But you have to First open Tmpgenc and go to "Options" to "Enviromental settings" and Put a check in the box next to "Open Sequence files as Movie" and that is all you need to do and it will open segmented files with tmpgenc...

To Minion

Thank you for such a very prompt reply. I am using 2.59 and your instructions work beautifully. I spent two days trying to get it going and you solved it for me in minutes. I have a great deal of respect for people like you who spend your time freely helping others who, like me, lack your ability.

Thank you again.

Question - Odd file length No.33121

I am trying to encode some anime that is a divx avi into a vcd format. i know i am doing it right because almost all of the files i convert work properly, but there are a few files that will convert from 200megs to an 850meg mpg file. is it a divx issue or tmpgenc issue. can anyone shine a loght on this.

thanx....

Minion  2003-01-09 08:21:16 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I understand what the Problem is...What is so strange about a 200MB DivX file going to a 850MB Mpeg file??? The Size of the Source File Has Nothing at all to do with what the size of the resulting Mpeg file, what Matters is How long the Source file is and The Bitrate used to encode the file to Mpeg....

Fenix  2003-01-09 13:05:24 ( ID:oeken0sigtm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i understand what you are saying, i should have put that it is an episode, anywhere from 20 to 24 minutes a piece. that is why i am confused about the size of the file....

can i go from SVCD to VCD with this program?

Minion  2003-01-09 08:16:14 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes you can ..but the best way to do it with this Program is to First Use DVD2AVI to Make a D2V file from the Video and it will De-Mux the audio.. then load the D2V file into Tmpgenc as the Video and Don"t encode the audio Cuz the audio from the SVCD file is allready in the Correct Format for VCD and encodeing it will Just degrade the Quality..and select "Video Only" in the "Stream settings" ,Now encode it to VCD and when it is Done encodeing Just Use the "Simple Multiplex" in the Mpeg tools to Mux the video you just encoded with the Audio that was De-Muxed By DVD2AVI....

Question - Movie Maker 2 or Media Player 9 or Codec Pack? No.33114
Proch  2003-01-09 03:37:44 ( ID:uy2d9plrddh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I went to WindowsUpdate and installed the following (for Windows XP Pro):

Movie Maker 2
Media Player 9
Codec Pack

I have read many people talking about being unable to open their .avi files and the reply is always "raise directshow to 2", but this isn't working for me. I'm wondering which of the things I installed broke my encoding, and what can I do to fix it besides uninstalling?

Thanks

Proch  2003-01-09 03:47:29 ( ID:uy2d9plrddh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ignore this... The answer is that you must close and rerun the application for the settings to take effect...

Minion  2003-01-09 05:42:08 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Shouldn"t install Media Player 9 Cuz you might not be able to Encode with Tmpgenc after words, I had to Do a System restore after it screwed up My system...

ASHY  2003-01-09 22:03:45 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yep, Media player9 = crap. Caused all sorts of strange happenings on my PC and not just encoding related.

Question - Analyzing... No.33108
Skyby  2003-01-08 23:14:24 ( ID:f26/7jfl7lg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been encoding afew videos using TMPGEnc. I notice that
the program does not do the actual encoding up to 50%...but it says "analyzing..." instead. My questions are what exact does it analyze? Why does it take that long to do it (the same amount of time to that of the actual encoding)? Is there a way to disable this to cut short the time?

Thanks for any inputs.

dankescheen  Home )  2003-01-09 00:42:11 ( ID:sr.dep3dv1. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is only in 2-pass.
1st pass : the encoder is analyzing the Video and logs the scenechanges, etc
2nd pass : encoding to mpg.

Same prodcedure as DivX 2Pass Encoding

Question - Max. bitrate 2520 No.33105
Viawise  Home )  2003-01-08 23:07:23 ( ID:bdlfyrnbrpw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi everybody,

I read a lot of articles in this bbs, but can't find anything about the maximum bitrate. I am trying to make good quality svcd's and as I read here the 'constant quality' setting is the best one. Regardless what setting I use it is not possible to set the max. bitrate higher then 2520 kbits/sec. This results in unacceptable quality. I have TMPGEnc 2.58. Could someone please tell me what to do?

Thanks in advance!
Wim

dankescheen  Home )  2003-01-09 00:32:36 ( ID:sr.dep3dv1. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is very easy...
Load the template "unlock" (it's in folder extra, now you can change these settings & much more. Or you can open the svcd-template with a text-editor and change the settings from true to false.

Greetings from germany

Question - vob2audio out of sync problems No.33100
AdonisXX  2003-01-08 22:20:16 ( ID:l6kfunnawgr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i use vob2audio and smartripper for my audio files. On the finished product-(my DVD) the video and audio is out of sync. So i must be ripping the wrong audio file. Can some tell me what i should have checked and unchecked in the stream processing window in smartripper? Thanks guys!

ASHY  2003-01-08 22:47:40 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You shouldn't uncheck anything. Just leave smartripper at the default 'Movie'

I also have just recently had your problem. Each time I ripped the audio it was slighly out of sync. It was solved by re-installing VOB2AUDIO and re-ripping the audio again to a wav.

ASHY

AdonisXX  2003-01-09 17:04:56 ( ID:prmtit7h6tf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy, that worked perfect!-if i could only choose the right audio file the first time every time:)

ASHY  2003-01-09 21:08:32 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can. You should always choose the English 6 channel Ac3 track.

Look in the folder where you have ripped VOBs to. In here will be a text file with a name similar to vts_01_INFO.txt.
Open this file and look where it says 'Stream info'. There will be a list of streams. Usually the second stream is the one to choose with a number such as [0x80].
Choose this same number in VOB2AUDIO.
