Question - Read error in Tmpgenc.exe problem again No.32157
Toni  2002-12-20 14:35:40 ( ID:uwl.lkjmtc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi! I 've read most of the topics about read error, but stil can't realy understand. I got a new mainboard+proc+ram and after the upgrade TMpgenc generates the read error when converting a movie, even if I convert the same movie, what I did convert fine with the old 733Mhz celeron. Also intresting that my PIII 500Mhz notebook can convert the same movie from the same CD, with the same Tmpgenc version without any problems (exept that it takes 5 hours, instied of 1,5). I reinstalled my operating system, upgraded it to XP, changed some setting in the bios, but no permanent solution. I will check the file-s I'am converting as discribed in the other articles, and will change the DirectShow filters priority and will try everything, but still don't beleive, that the movie would be the problem, since the notebook can convertit it!!! So if you have any comment on that, I would highly approtiate it!!!

Question - Audio & Vdeo No.32153
Arne  2002-12-20 13:29:27 ( ID:f3gn4if3xaj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ok so 'virtual dub' to convert the adio into a wav file.(which worked)
Next I converted the avi to mpeg.(mpeg has great quality but has no sound)
what do I need to do now. Do I simply burn the mpeg and the wav file on the same vcd or do I have to do something else?

wcpaul  2002-12-20 18:08:37 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's a job for other software. See: www.vcdhelp.com

ASHY  2002-12-20 21:19:19 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You should have used the wav file as your audio source in TMPG. You can encode it seperately then multiplex it with your MPEG using the MPEGtools and then burn with Nero using the VCD option.

When I try combining the m2v and wav files I get the following message using the tools submenu under file -

"Multiplexing linear PCM stream to System stream is not supported"

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm experiencing problems selecting "source ranges". I think I'm running version 2.59. When moving the slider the screen goes blank and I have to click the close button in the top left of the window which closes the application down. I am running Windows XP. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Question - Avi Mux &Virtual Dub No.32149
Arne  2002-12-20 13:05:49 ( ID:f3gn4if3xaj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Someone told me to use Avi Mux or virtual dib to create an wav file of the audio that was in my avi. but i don't know how they work and what to do

Videophile  2002-12-21 20:59:56 ( ID:c/vuerl5g4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello Arne,

You can try VCDHELP.COM and READ all the sections from the start to get a better understanding of what you are trying to do. A quick google search turns up this specific link http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm

Plus there are lots of other links available. Just type AVI AUDIO TO WAV in your favourite search engine. The amount of stuff that comes back is overwhelming at times, so try VCDHELP first.

Seasons Greetings.

Question - Souns and video don't match No.32145
Arne  2002-12-20 12:45:59 ( ID:f3gn4if3xaj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I got a perfect avi I converted it to an perfect mpeg and there's also sound in it, but the video has a delay on the audio. First a person speaks then 2 seconds later his lips move. Does anybodu know about this problem? Or what to do?

Minion  2002-12-20 22:05:04 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If the Delay is the same all the way through the movie you can use the Multiplexor in a Program called "Mpeg2VCR", it has a Feature in it"s Multiplexor that will allow you to off set the audio or Video to Fix sync Problems.....

fortwinee  2002-12-21 21:04:48 ( ID:ag4g5fkogjj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

if you are planning on burning your file to a cd...and playing in your dvd...it will correct itself. when i convert to mpeg2...my sound is always off from the video...but when i burn and watch..its fine.

ASHY  2002-12-22 12:55:55 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

>if you are planning on burning your file to a cd...and playing in your dvd...it will correct itself

What??? There is nothing correcting itself. The audio must be in sync in the first place.

There is obviously something wrong with your PC if it is playing MPEG2 files back with de-synced audio and ok on your DVD player.

In a normal system if the audio is not in sync on your PC then it is not going to be in sync on your DVD player.

Question - Open avi: Judging field order... No.32142
Supi  2002-12-20 07:48:36 ( ID:4snbthi3jla )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello again,

I have a new little problem. I open an avi-file with 640x480 pixels and get the message: Judging field order... After this message the film is in the field "Video file:", but the field "Audio file:" is empty...
When i use the browse-button to use the same avi-file for "audio" I get the following error: "file...can not open, or unsupported"

What must I do to make a SVCD from this movie???

Minion  2002-12-20 22:02:50 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The "Judging Field Order " Message Has Nothing to Do with the Audio...The reason Why the Audio isn"t being Loaded is Because the Audio format that is in the AVI File Is not supported in Tmpgenc..What you need to do is Extract the audio to a WAV file and use that as the audio file...Look on a Search engine For a Program called "AVI Mux" and use it to demux and uncompress the audio to a WAV file and use the wav file as the audio source....

Question - joining jpegs No.32136
tonybv  2002-12-20 05:40:33 ( ID:lf8bomhf4rj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I cannot figure out how to join multiple jpegs to make a VCD. Is this possible with TMPGenc?

ASHY  2002-12-20 21:23:15 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure they are numbered sequencially then load the first and the rest will load automatically.

jetty  2002-12-21 00:23:33 ( ID:wh3.zdbxedc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello!

Can also mpeg 2 video clips merged while numbered sequentially and 1st loaded into multiplexer let say? If so, then I'm certain it doesn't work with all possible digital video material and that is why I'm not rushing to test it myself.
Still I have used Vobmerge for elementary joining of vob and mpg.

ASHY  2002-12-22 12:46:12 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You dont need to number them if you are just joining the files. Just load the files into Merge/Cut in the order you wish them joined.

Bug report - tmpgenc2.5 non-standard VCD No.32134
tonyp12  2002-12-19 17:11:04 ( ID:xqpgfa/tyer )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

2pass-VBR always get the same file size even
if I change the avarage bitrate to 900.

I have select VCD(non-standard) to override CBR-1150,
but tmpgenc still created same files-size no matter
what avarage bitrate setting is.

Using MPEG-1 System(VBR) probably will work so I can
get a 85 minute movie down to 800MB.

But why does not Video-CD(non-standard) work anymore???????

B_Racer  2002-12-19 22:11:13 ( ID:f0tdjnbzg.2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's a well known Bug in TMPGEnc 2.59. Use an older Version for Multiplexing, and you will be happy again ;)

Drew  2002-12-19 16:48:01 ( ID:codex7qnfdc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I am pretty new to this but have created several 2 min AVIs with Microsoft Moviemaker2 and encoded to MPG2 with TMPGenc sucessfully. I have the same format 720x480 AVI that is 14 min long, TMPGenc wont recognise more than 5 min in preview and the rest if the AVI insnt there in preview or when I encode it. Is there a limitation on MPG2 encoding lenth. I know the freeware version limits you to 30 days for MPG2 enc. but I am not able to encode more than 5 min at a time.
amd tbird 800m
512m ram

Thanks

Have you tried to Raise the "Direct Show File Reader" in the "VFAPI Plugins"???
Go to "Options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"...

Drew  2002-12-20 17:49:37 ( ID:codex7qnfdc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks, I'll try that over the holidays. Someone mentioned that the windows Moviemaker has issues with Nvidia card drivers and that is the prog that rendered the AVI so maybe there is a problem there?

Thanks

Question - vcd .dat transcode to mpeg No.32129
michael  2002-12-19 15:28:50 ( ID:ldgitb/p1wn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I wonder if tmpgenc plus is suit for transcode vcd .dat to mpeg file.
I try to finish the transcode but it always shows up with error message of "buffer underflow" at the end. And I don't know if the transcode from .dat to .mpg file is correct with no error. Anyone got idea about this transcoding methods ? thanks for help.

B_Racer  2002-12-19 22:12:39 ( ID:f0tdjnbzg.2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

.dat IS MPEG (MPEG1). You don't have to transcode. Do a simple Multiplex to VCD, this should work.
