I dont really know what you mean..All you need is a VCD to play a VCD in a VCD compatible Player..I"ll try to read your mind and assume that you made a VCD but your DVD Player will not Play it???This can be caused from a number of things But it usually has to do with how you made the VCD..First you need to burn it with a program that is Designed fot Burning VCD"s in VCD Format. You can"t just Burn a Mpeg file on a Disk and have it play..Another reason could be that the Mpeg file is not VCD Compliant..If I"m off base Please explain your Question more Clearly...
I think it is propably down to your dvd player... provided you have burnt the mpg after converting it to a suitable vcd mpeg format and burnt it as a vcd in a program such as Nero... A lot of dvd players say they play VCD's but do not due to not being multi region players... a multi region player is best solution if you have burnt the disc right. >A lot of dvd players say they play VCD's but do not due to not being multi region players... a multi region player is best solution if you have burnt the disc right
What?
How did u arrive at that conclusion?
Whether your DVD player is multi region or not should have no bearing whatsoever on it's capability for playing compatible VCD's.
As long as you use the correct framerate and framesizes when encoding and then use a suitable VCD burning program, the VCD should play fine, unless it doesn't read CDR's. This is the problem with most DVD players which state they can handle VCD's, but won't play them. They can, but only pre-recorded VCD's not the home made variety.
Sometimes this can be solved by using CDRW instead of CDR as a lot of these players will accept CDRW, but not CDR.
My original .avi file is in widescreen format. Even though I select the "No Margin - keep aspect ratio" on the advanced tab under the video settings, the encoded mpeg file is still in widescreen format. I even tried the "full screen - keep aspect ration" setting and got the same result - a wide screen file. How do I get TMPGEnc to give me a full screen file (without borders?
Make sure you the the aspect ratio set to 4:3 and go into the "Clip Frame" settings in the "Advanced settings" and there you should be able to Manipulate the frame so it looks full screen....
Hello, I just bought what appears to be a big piece of crap...lol called Creative Digital VCR. It says it records to MPEG2 on the box well it don't. But what it does do is records to a bunch of little broken up segments that you then use their software to merge only I want to Record a show then use TMPGenc to cut out the commercials and stuff but the .mpg files it creates are not supported by TMPGenc. Any suggestions on what I shoudld do would be helpful. And the recipt got tossed by my cousin so I can't take it back...
Thanks a million.

I suppose you Got a Capture Card of some sort and some software that came with it???Well in Most cases the software that Comes with Capture cards isn"t very good and they usually Record to some Proprietary format that isn"t compatible with any other software but there own...But you Can allways use Different Software with The Capture Card..There are lots of different programs But not many are very good For Mpeg Capture,One of the Better ones is "Intervideo WinDVR" and "Ulead Video studio 6" Does Good Mpeg Captures But Captureing to mpeg will never produce The best results ,What I do is Capture to AVI then encode the avi files to Mpeg2/SVCD, you get much better quality than Captureing to Mpeg But you need Quite a Bit Of drive space and a fast Hard drive..If you need any help with your TV Capture Card you Can e-mail me and I"ll try to help out...Cheers
Minion, what AVI codec do you use for capture? I have been using Huffyuv codec with Virtualdub as the capture software for a while now. (And for long videos, Radeon AIW Mpeg at 15Mbs.)
The histogram display in Virtualdub is extremely important. Light and/or dark area detail can get seriously clipped without proper tweaking. Hi8 captures are especially tricky.
And no capture software has audio level meters! Audio levels vary even more wildy than video. A search for "meterV.exe" will locate a good free one.
It amazes me how much capture software is out there making grandiose claims but only works to degrade your video. Even Hi8 video should look BETTER after digital processing, not worse.
Sorry bout that first bitter post. I have an Athlon 1Ghz, 512MB SDRAM, 128mb GeForce 4200Ti, 1-40GB,1-80GB, and 1-100GB Hard Drives, a Sony DRU-500A DVD+RW, TMPGEnc 2.58.44.152 Plus and I just bought the Creative Video Blaster Digital VCR. It comes with the capture card and its software. One thing it can only record 32.0khz Audio and I think that is what is messing up TMPGEnc. I tried using VDub to capture it didn't work. Creatives support says that no other capture software currently supports the card. So what I have done is [don't laugh i got no life...] I recorded my show 640x480 and 32000khz 384Kbs. I demux with TMPGEnc then take the Audio file and convert the .mp2 to .wav using amp.exe then take the wave and convert the sample rate to 48000Khz using Cool Edit 2000. Now I pick the DVD NTSC template in TMPGEnc and use the original .m2v file and the new upsampled .wav and it takes forever... but it does work for any of you out there that bought this card and are havin trouble theres a start... thanks for any help.
You need to Have the XVid codec installed on your computer and if so Have you tried Raiseing the "Direct Show file Reader"??Go to "Options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct Show" to "2"...
You Can"t...And why would you really need to ..The encoder Puts in I frames when ever they are needed and By the structure of the GOP, I frames are automaticly inserted at Scene changes, Unless you disable it in the GOP settings...
I wanted to convert a movie *.avi to VCD...I can see the movie but I cannot listen to nothing???
What could be wrong during the setup?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Tmpgenc probably couldn"t read the audio format in your Source file, this is Very common so what you need to do is extract the audio to a WAV file with Virtual dub and use the Wav file as the audio source in Tmpgenc..
Thank you very much for your answer...Unfortunately, I tried this option today and also did not work
What could I try now??
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
I have a short avi that I want to convert to mpg. However, when I try ot do this, the output video is messed up, but the audio plays fine. The video has a black bar across the top half of the picture. The bottom half is a partial inverted mirror image of the actual video with no colour and multiple vertical lines. This only occurs with a small number of files I have tried converting. Has anyone ever encountered this before? What's going on and how can I fix it.
I am trying to convert a movie i have downloaded from Shadow Movie Realm. When i try to open any movies to convert them with TMPGEnc it says the movie cannot be opened or is unsupported. what is the problem?
I had the same trouble, this is what Minion told me to do:
Have you tried Raiseing the Priority if the "Direct show File Reader"??Go to "options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"...
Hi, I am using TMPGEnc 2.57 plus, with a valid registration #, but I try to load mpge2 file i got message saying that cannot open or not supported! can anyone help? thanks
