Question - PCM Audio track on DVD No.21741
cjbarr  2002-05-22 20:33:02 ( ID:fmunfinayfo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to make a DVD with PCM sound. How can I do this with TMPG?

Minion  2002-05-22 22:10:43 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can"t with this program but some authoring software will let you do it.Your file size will be huge with "pcm" like over a gig on an 1.5 hour movie, why do you have an avertion to useing mp2 or ac3?

cjbarr  2002-05-22 22:29:23 ( ID:fmunfinayfo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

They are classical music DVD's and PCM has more weight to the sound. Can you mention some applications that allow PCM sound tracks?

Minion  2002-05-23 06:32:35 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you tried "Dolby Digital ac3" it is the format used in most dvd"s?There are some high end authoring programs that allow for "pcm" I"m not totally sure about this but I think "Sonic dvdit PE" allows for pcm but you would have to check it out, but I know "Scenerist" does but You might have to sell your house to buy it, you would have to check out some authoring programs,I don"t think PCM is that common on dvd..

Laserfan  2002-05-23 23:02:53 ( ID:lcvorlzbcvh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I believe that ULead's DVD Workshop accepts PCM files, but keep in mind that DVDs want 48KHz sample rate vs 44.1KHz or other. The prog is pricey at $300 but you get a 30 day trial period--it has a great built-in encoder BTW.

Compressing via AC3 is very hard to do--you need the $1000 SoftEncode program or <an even more expensive> hardware encoder licensed by Dolby Labs.

Question - audio sync problem No.21739
Chunkmuff  2002-05-22 16:18:20 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When i try to cut a large mpg into two smaller ones, the audio is out of sync by a quarter second, makes for some psychedelic viewing but it's not what i'm going for. Any suggestions?

Minion  2002-05-22 22:05:54 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use the source range to encode your movies then you won"t have to cut them, or use different editing software.....

Question - quality problem No.21736
Rck60s  2002-05-22 15:01:52 ( ID:ottpma61s8h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I download a pristine quality file and then try to convert from Mpeg4 to MPEG2 I seem to lose a tremendous amount of picture quality...I have had the bitrate as high as 6500 but still it comes out hazy and jerky....Does anyone have a suggestion? I am going from pal 25fps to NTSC 29.97fps and 720X480

B_Racer  2002-05-23 16:29:45 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

> I am going from pal 25fps to NTSC 29.97fps and 720X480

Yeah, and that's wrong... You need to know the exact parameters from the AVI and you must use a REAL PAL-NTSC-Conversation, which TMPGEnc is not able to do. You have to use AviSynth to do that.
By the way: if you convert an DivX-Movie, it's always better to use Half-D1 (352x480) instead auf Full-D1.

Rck60s  2002-05-23 16:52:04 ( ID:ottpma61s8h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is AVIsynth a shareware or free program? also what do you mean real parameters?

Question - no image No.21734
bianca  2002-05-22 13:45:36 ( ID:xta1s14jujw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I convert an avi with the rpogram Avi 2 VCD it works fine in my dvd. But now I have tried converting with TMPGenc and i don't get no image in my dvd player. So obviously It is not my player that is the problem what am I doing wrong. I am using these parametersaudio 44100 stereo 224 kbits video 352 x 240 29.97 hz. Oh also I am using nero burning to burn my vcd files. Please help cause I really like the program it is much faster then avi2vcd and I would like to use it but if only I could get an image..

Minion  2002-05-22 22:03:58 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Firs make sure you have all the proper codecs, then make sure that your "direct show" plugin has a high enough priority.....And watch your movies before you burn them.......

Question - merge and cut No.21732
Ariesatwar  2002-05-22 03:25:34 ( ID:.ixjmrzygum )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been merging and cutting avi files for some time now however I seem to have problems if I have to cut the file more than twice, for example:
I have a 1846 meg file(converted to mpeg), and in order to put it on vcd I have to cut it into 3. The first two work great but the third just won't go????/

Please help!!!!! E-mail at Ariesatwar@shaw.ca

Minion  2002-05-22 03:29:00 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is a long standing problem with the "merge & cut" feature and there is no way that I know to fix it,accept get different editing software..but in the future use the source range feature to edit your movies and you won"t have to worry about the "mpeg tools"....

Question - Error: Index of scan line is out of range (144) No.21730
Sam Galitzer  2002-05-22 02:40:11 ( ID:bggodubpzhm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I am encoding the file at 98% I receive the following error: Index of scan line is out of range (144) What am I doing wong?

Thanks.

Sam

Minion  2002-05-22 03:19:30 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You are probably doing nothing wrong but there is probably something wrong with your avi file. you can encode the last 2% then join the 98% with the 2% in mpeg tools without much problem...

Question - New Online Ordering Co No.21727
StillHoping  2002-05-22 00:14:11 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Has anyone tried the new online ordering system? At least they list a customer support email address.

I lost $48 on the old system and, assuming my credit card company honors my charge dispute, I would like to re-order through the new one.

If anyone has an email address that might get me to someone who can help with the original order, please post it.

ffast  2002-05-22 01:45:01 ( ID:rq73n1voqvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is wrong place to ask such question.

Once you visit www.pegasys-inc.com ,you will find certain E-mail address you can ask for purchase question for sure!

You have just not spent enough time to read contents of purchase/buy and other pages.

StillHoping  2002-05-22 02:12:03 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have emailed EVERY address I could find on the pegasys-inc site and the tmpgenc.net site and not received ANY reponse.

I have spent SEVERAL HOURS searching for email addresses on those sites!!!! I have retraced the ordering process up to the last submit looking for email addresses.

There is NO email address clearly listed as a "customer service" address. Only business sales and some mysterious "zeroweb" (well named) address. These produced NO response.

This forum is a last resort before going through the pain of disputing the charge!

Once my charge is reversed, I will test for response from customer service at the new site BEFORE placing an order.

GazMottley@hotmail.com  2002-05-21 22:30:46 ( ID:mk8pw3dua56 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am using the latest version of TMPGEnc, but when i encode an .avi file, and try to create an MPEG-1 file, when i play it in media player, there is sound but no picture, any help on clearing this up would be appreciated

mauigreen  2002-05-21 23:11:44 ( ID:gkdw.xqsmwg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Me too, i only get sound with no video when i convert from AVI to mpeg1

Minion  2002-05-22 03:06:22 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure you have the right codecs installed on your system like all the divx codecs cuz i don"t think that divx5 works on divx4 or divx3,and don"t play your mpeg files on media player because it"s mpeg codec sucks and it has a habbit of playing the audio out of sync and with bad quality, use dvd playing software cuz it is designed for mpeg..and while you are encodeing make sure that your direct show filter has high enough priority.......

I had this same problem. When rendering the clip and during playback, I would get a black screen but could hear the audio. I had to change the "Direct Show Filter" to priority 1. As soon as I did this, the video immediately popped into view. In order to change the Direct Show filter using the latest version of TMPGEnc, you will need to click on "Option" at the top of the main screen, then "Environmental Setting". Click on the "VFAPI" tab. The default plug-ins will be listed. Find the "DirectShow Multimedia File Reader" listing. Right-click on this and select "Higher Priority". I did this two or three times until it was listed as the #1 priority. After that, I could see the video. Hope this additional info helps!

to get a picture in windows media player, you need to get a good codec bundle, to place these codecs in the program. I reccomend the codec bundle NIMO. I have not had any problems with my files playing in windows media, or my favorite (DivX Playa) which you can get at DivX.com, other good edit free programs also. Hope this helps!!!!

Bug report - long delays when loading mpeg2. m2v files No.21717
MikeC  2002-05-21 21:49:38 ( ID:cgx3nbhwwxm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Fairly recently I'v been experiencing long loading times when selecting certain m2v/mpg2 files either in the main windows or the wizard. The files don't appear to be corrupt as they load in all other encoder software and DVD burning software.
I cant seem to find any similarities in the files. It just some do and some don't.
It has worked before and no other software has been installed. I have even done a full clean reinstall or the OS and TmpgEnc only. Still the same

Any ideas?

Question - Studio DC10+ codec problem? No.21710
almost40_3girls  2002-05-21 21:36:24 ( ID:vli8s0ohxto )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Currently I have a DC10+ board with Studio version 1.06. After I capture a avi file and try to even preview it in tmpgenc, I get large diaginal lines and no audio. Is this because the avi is encoded using Pinnicle's own codec? I am thinking of upgrading to Studio 7, but won't if I would still have the same problem. Any recommendations??

Jeremy  2002-05-21 22:04:07 ( ID:mrhiosejanw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have the same board but not the same problems. My problem is I have to open and close ( any capture program ) 20 , 30 , 40 + to get the cap card to lock on to the video stream. Pinnacle hase no help support. Iv been trying to get them to email me something for the last year. They ignore all my emails.

So, Id say we both screwed with a crumy product. Dont waste your money on Studio 7. I have it and its not much better then the DC10 studio. Try to find something else. Iv been playing with Adobe premier. But it also hase the above problem so havnt been able to capture anything with it yet.

almost40_3girls  2002-05-22 13:31:26 ( ID:gzwarswlxdw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In looking at all the various editting software out there I like both Vegas Video 3.0 and Ulead's Media Studio. Thanks for the comments. I also was thinking about going with Studio Express, since I want to get into making DVD's but now I will rethink it all....

Don't waste your time with Pinnacle Studio 7 or Express...Go the Ulead way with MediaStudio, VideoStudio 6 or DVD Movie Factory. However, a good capture card along with NTFS and a fast machine is essential.

almost40_3girls  2002-05-22 16:32:21 ( ID:vli8s0ohxto )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since what I have now is the DC10+ card, what card is decent but not real expensive, I need composite video in, DV would be a nice addition, but my camcorder is only composite out. I eventually would like to get into the Matrox RT2500.

bbb  2002-05-24 23:19:18 ( ID:jmlplrnbuek )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use VirtualDub to open your AVI and frameserve it to Tmpgenc. Sound should be intact.

Also, you should install the PicVideo MJPEG codec before you frameserve because DC10+ has a decompressor bug. The bug shows itself as a tiny vertical frame jumpy motion (like from a jittery film projector) that happens occasionally every 15 to 30 seconds, barely noticeable until you look for it. This bug won't be fixed by changing field order.

You must install the PicVideo MJPEG codec (maybe the Morgan MJPEG would work too). Afterwards, the jumpiness will be gone.

One more thing, the PicVideo MJPEG produces better color dithering and better resulting MPEG quality after using Tmpgenc.

Request - Fade to black at start/end of videos No.21709
John  2002-05-21 19:52:43 ( ID:ld4aaq7ibaw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It would be great if there was a fade-up-from black and fade-down-to-black
option in TMPGEnc, much like the fade-in and fade-out audio options. I have
many AVIs that end abruptly on a still frame and it would be nicer to be able
to fade that image down to black, say over a half-second period... :)
