Up until last night using TMPGEnc at normal quality it was taking me about 48 minutes to encode 45mins of film , since last night though every one that i have tried has taken almost 2 hours for 45 mins of film, I'm pretty sure that i have not changed any of the settings so has anyone any idea why i would get this sudden slow down

I disabled the preview in the hope that it would go back to the speeds that i had until last night but it doesn't seem to have helped any as i have just tried another 45 mins and its looking at taking 1hr 42 mins to do

(living in hope it will go back to the speeds of before last night :) )

Question - AVI to MPEG problems No.17641
Biggun  2002-03-31 16:42:49 ( ID:vqqqwsoxx1g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I continue to get "cannot open or unsupported" error message when trying to convert a .avi file to an MPEG. I tried to set the priority higher as was suggested to another user. I set it to 50 and still get the same message. So far I have only been able to create a VCD from .mpg files. Can anyone help?

Nick1  2002-03-31 17:31:55 ( ID:hxjbfoabs7h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like advise with this too, I have a file that opens in version 2.53 but encodes with no picture, just sound, but put the same file in older version of tmpgenc and it will not accept file at all. I have all the correct codecs installed

Question - Does TMPGEnc supports DV Avi No.17637
zaku2  2002-03-31 16:42:13 ( ID:gp742dpndsg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have installed premiere 6.0, which can edit Captured DV by just installing a OHCI IEEE1394 card. The exported MS AVI clips can be played in the Media Player 7.1. However, TMPGEnc shows me that the file is not supported. I think I have the codec of DV Pal already but why I can't encode it?

If I convert the file into Indeo 5.1 then it would be no problem but the compression function is lost.

Is there any path to fix the problem? The solution seems close but I can fix it by myself......
Help me please. Thank you very much.

Thanks for your help, but the problem remains unchange. I have installed the plug-in, too. It is also helpless. Any idea?

Omer00  2002-04-01 11:58:16 ( ID:cfmt5mxpq/r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have the same problem.
Microsoft DV avi files can be open in TMPEnc when they have been captured with scenalyzer. But when cut and export from Premiere, they can't be opened.
However the codec and format are the same (dvsd).

Bug report - At address 73F91D04, Read error occured... No.17632
BradT2JD  2002-03-31 12:53:27 ( ID:rpiqwer/lnw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just a bug report.

At address 73F91D04, Read error occured against address 73f91d04.

This occurs when you are trying to "Split" mpg files.

1. File --> MPEG Tools --> Merge & Cut
2. Add an mpg file and double-click
3. Do anything in this window. When you close it (OK or Cancel) The alert pops up.

Running Win XP on an Athlon 1200 with 512 mb RAM, 70 GIG hdd (about 20 gigs free) using an ASUS GeForce II Ultra Video card (Not that I think it'll help, just pre-empting the questions... :)

Techno  Home )  2002-03-31 14:04:41 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well:

1) It could be that the MPEG file is corrupted/bad frames
2) compatability issue so use compatability mode in Windows XP
3) Quit some background apps

I am erperiencing the same problem. Also running Win XP, and I have this error message only SINCE I upgraded to XP. On a few occasions the error comes up but the window doesn't close right away. but mostly it only leaves the option to close the application

Question - How do I split MPG or AVI files to fit on VCD? No.17629
Rain Man  2002-03-31 12:35:37 ( ID:o4wogmk74ra )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I understood that TmpGenc could split larger files into smaller ones that would fit onto a VCD but I don't see anything in the documentation. Can I do this with TMPGenc or do I need another utility? Any suggestions

What do they mean by full MPEG2 encoding in thhe registred version ?

Does it mean that pic quality is better ?
Or something else ?

Thanks a lot !

Techno  Home )  2002-03-31 14:37:34 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

They mean no time limit!!!!!!

Thw quality depends on the MPEG2 filter you use.

Question - tmpge always freezes when coding No.17613
rock  2002-03-31 00:45:29 ( ID:zjek6d2r48o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, everytime I try to code a movie into svcd 1/3 or more into it freezes or seems very very sluggish and I look at it and its no longer moving. Im just wondering why this tmpge 2.5 is locking up on me and stops coding. I have the vf plugin and um Im running xp1800,256ram on win2k I have all codecs loaded as well. Id like to start coding all my divx movies to svcd soon so I wish I could find a solution thx

ps. I tried last night to do asf to svcd it did the same thing as when I tried the divx.

sherlock  2002-03-31 03:56:14 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

get a newer version and you wont have as many problems, and if you are trying to encode divx5 to mpeg you will have problems,I dont know why but the new divx 5 sux big doodoo......

rock  2002-03-31 17:42:03 ( ID:zjek6d2r48o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

jl3838  2002-03-31 21:23:45 ( ID:vn45lxqdoyo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have similar problems when converting asf or non-compliant mpeg to vcd with 2.53. I checked the CPU usage and it showed spikes of 30-50% usage intermittently although when the encoding became sluggish (18 frames per minute or so).

sherlock  2002-03-31 21:35:44 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no version 2.53 plus is the newest version,2.5 came out like 6 months ago....

I have the same problem.

But what I wish to know is, if i burn the converted .mpg to CD using Adaptec VCD Creator, will there be no video when i wish to watch the film on a DVD player.
You say DiVx films are not really supported - My .avi's are sourced from KaZaA - are they DiVx, i am unsure.

Question - A simple solution for chronic audio sync problems under Winxp...? No.17602
booples  2002-03-30 22:16:43 ( ID:mgx5bdxxo0o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using version 2.53.35 under Windows XP. This could be because of the particular AVI file I was trying to convert, I'm not sure, but even extracting
the audio into a seperate file and reencoding that way didn't help me. It was
always out of sync.

Same thing happened under Win2K so I started wondering, 'Maybe this version of
tmpgenc isn't totally compatible with the Win2K OSs. So I just went into the tmpgenc's main executable properties and set it into win98se/winme compatibility mode and so far I haven't had any problems.

Even using the avi file as my audio source instead of extracting it didn't yield any sync problems.

Not sure if this was really my problem or really the issue with everyone's sync problems and tmpenc, but it may help you.

Techno  Home )  2002-03-31 09:08:45 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

try to make sure that the audio freq. sample rate is low to 44100Hz.

if the audio is slower than pic, then decrease the frame rate.

if the audio is faster than pic, then increase the frame rate.
