If encoding with TMPGEnc 2.53 for SVCD with CQ 75,
VCDEasy v1.0.9 reports the following errors, and
fast forward/reverse go to the wrong locations.

[VCDxMInfo.exe]
GNU VCDImager 0.7.12
trying to open mpeg stream...
strange (possibly non-compliant) user_data seen...

I have exactly the same problems and get the same warnings of VCDEasy.
My Philips standalone DVD-712 stops playing if I choose fast forward or backward. Further on it show the wrong playing time; it¡s round about half of the real playing time.
Look at http://www.iki.fi/znark/video/svcd/overview/ under 6.5. I think this is the problem.
Does anybody know if TMPGEnc is able to create this special blocks with scan information? Does anybody know a tool that can do this with an MPEG-File?

Question - Won't Convert Certain DivX No.17512
None  2002-03-29 18:43:24 ( ID:wtpt1k4zkfa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

THPGEnc won't convert certain DivX codecs. It converts the audio fine, but the video is just a black image. Is there any way to fix this?

Ashy  2002-03-29 19:50:31 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Uninstall all divx codecs and reinstall 3.11 and 5.0

Question - Merge-Cut Freeze No.17510
Bo Bo  2002-03-29 17:07:31 ( ID:.qzodmfpgfn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was using the merge-cut option on version 2.53 and when I attempt to cut the file into a second half it freezes on me right after the audio process finishes. Can anyone help me out? I don't believe I'm doing anything wrong but who knows.

sherlock  2002-03-30 03:14:56 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

instead of useing the "merge& cut" feature try useing the "source range" feature.this feature will let you encode half the movie then the other half(or thirds or whatever)I use this feature cuz cutting doesn"t allways work...

marco  2002-03-29 16:38:17 ( ID:nm.otockd8m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

pardon me ,
does anybody know if there is the possibility to load tmpeg profile to encode a file directly from the timeline of premiere 6 ?
after having installed tmpeg on my matrox rt2000 machine, I supposed to find tmpgenc at the end of codecs in the export timeline tab of premiere but is not there.
tks in advance
marco

sherlock  2002-03-30 10:53:40 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you have to download the adobe premier plugin for tmpgenc, then you can frame serve from premier to tmpgenc,I don"t know were you can get it, try the tools section in "vcd help" or try "doom 9" hope this helps?...

Chris T  2002-04-02 18:55:13 ( ID:sbxenrbpfsl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just downloaded the avisynth program - I believe you'll need the one that's a Premiere plugin. There are some instructions there too.

I try to output from mpg to avi but at 16% it tells me it has an error accessing avi file. I am able to create an mpg from a wmf just fine. Any ideas?

Question - Playstation 2 No.17497
Rolo  2002-03-29 15:43:44 ( ID:rmtq39w0yzw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you make movies that will play on a Playstation 2? I tried SVCD and it didn't work. Just wondering if it can be done or I just messed up.

Rolo  2002-03-29 15:58:32 ( ID:rmtq39w0yzw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I found that you need to download the playstation template. I did that. I put it in the template folder, but how do I use it in the program?

Rolo  2002-03-29 18:06:48 ( ID:rmtq39w0yzw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I figured out how to load the template and use it. But I still can't get the movie to work on my playstation 2. Do I need a certain codec?

techno  Home )  2002-03-29 18:09:46 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You should do this:

goto www.google.com and type in pss.mcf
goto the first or second page of the search and save the pss.mcf as pss.mcf

load this in TMPGENC and encode

the burn as VCD in nero

I don't think the ps supports svcd

Playstation 2 does NOT support VCD, but does support MPEG2 which has to be done in certain way. There are two links below to show you how to do this.

Question - Downloading TMPG No.17493
Krissy  2002-03-29 14:58:49 ( ID:egvuoatuxlj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have attempted to download TMPG Enc - Version 2.53 off this site...
It downloads the .zip file fine, but when I double click on it, WinZip pops up with the error "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive".

Am I missing something here ???

Thanks in advance,

Krissy

Ashy  2002-03-29 19:14:18 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Download it again.

Krissy  2002-03-30 09:28:47 ( ID:egvuoatuxlj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've downloaded it from multiple sources too...

All the same thing.

If someone wants to email me a working ZIP file I would appreciate it.

Ta :)

Ashy  2002-03-30 14:50:30 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My advice: Take that crap Winzip off your machine and download a much better program called Winrar. It seems like Winzip is the problem.
Go here for the proggy: http://skippels.dns2go.com/newtimes/appz.html
Also if u use a download manager try switching it off.

Question - Stream output error No.17492
fatsloppicus  2002-03-29 14:43:39 ( ID:k5hwznt.r8n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ive got a problem where, im using the krystal codec pack, which i was told was similiar to nimo *which i could not get a hold of* and i go to encode a slice of my lord of the rings dvd rip, and it gets the log file done but craps out at 50% even. Could this be the codec im using? Or perhaps a setting? Im using a variable 2 pass 3000 bit ntsc dvd 720x480 with 29.9 frames, and an audio setting layer 2 384kbps at 48000Hz. Any suggestions are most welcome.
