Question - Pentiun III vs XP1900+ Source File Error No.17383
Larry_C  2002-03-27 13:22:54 ( ID:g2ylsvwsrv2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am occasionally using TMPGEnc ver 2.53.35.130 to remove high bitrate "spikes" in mpeg2 (3.0 MHz VBR, 720x480, 29.97 FPS 48,000 Hz audio) captures which can interfere with subsequent DVD video generation. This process worked well on my Pentium III 1.0 gHz system, but when I try to load the same video source file on my AMD XP1900+ system, I get the message "File xxx cannot open, or unsupported". I have tried to use the identical settings on both systems with no success. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Larry_C

TMPGEnc does not have ANY own codec to decode!
If you install exactly same codecs under same OS, they should show same symptom.
(Sometime, some files can be read fortunately though).

Question - Converting Multiple Files No.17380
Querier  2002-03-27 10:37:12 ( ID:ddes50zcspw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am currently using this program to convert my .avi's to .mpg so that i can burn them on VCD format. The problem is i have to come back every time after one finishes so i can start encoding the other one. Is there a way that i can make a list of some sort so that a queue can be created and so i can leave it for the whole day and it will encode on after the other automatically? That would be much faster and more convinient. Thankyou

RX  2002-03-27 10:55:19 ( ID:rq73n1voqvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Batch encode.

NeWcS  2002-03-27 18:31:26 ( ID:s00.avcw8/f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes you can!!!!

Load your video/audio and setup your settings/templete. Then instead of hitting start goto file, then save project. save it.

Now goto 'Batch Encode' and load the project files you just saved. When your done loading um hit run!!!!

Thats it.

-Hope this helps

Question - Update Policy No.17377
Peter McCall  2002-03-27 09:13:32 ( ID:nsbkh5almbg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am about to buy Tmpgenc. At the time of writing the current version is 2.53.
Will I get an automatic (and free) update when 2.54 and any subsequent versions are released?

i am trying to back up a dvd witha lot of short movies on it when i rip it why does it only do the first movie thanks

Ashy  2002-03-27 11:30:22 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The ripper you are using automatically selects the largest movie on the DVD,which it assumes is the main movie.

try using the File Rip method instead of the Movie rip method in SmartRipper

Request - No Video, just audio while/after DIVX -> MPG Conversion No.17369
mhoepfl  2002-03-27 08:51:51 ( ID:mi0jlrmlscj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there,

I got some PAL DIVX and wanted to convert them to MPEG. I checked the DIVX settings and configured TMPGEnc accordingly (load PAL VCD).

While converting them to MPEG no video was shown. After converting (being a MPG now), the file was just about 25% bigger in size and there also was no vidoe just audio.

Can anyone help?

Regards, Michael

Mario  2002-03-27 09:35:33 ( ID:84ib1adao6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

HI,
it seems to me that after installing the last (5.0) divX codec, the same problem occurs - after conversion to mpeg, the "movie" is just black.

Other opinions ?

About the size - its normal to be bigger - the compression of the VCD is not so high as the divX one.

Mario

This question has been answered a thousand times already on this board.
All you have to do is look through the previous posts for your answer.
You wont have to look far.

Ashy  2002-03-27 11:58:22 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you really can't be arsed to look then try this. Uninstall all DIVX codecs and reinstall DIVX 3.11 then DIVX 5.0. both must be installed. If that doesn't cure it click your VFAPI PLUG-IN tab under Enviromental settings and make the DIRECTSHOW MUTIMEDIA FILE READER the highest priority, usually 2.

I won't be answering this question again.

mhoepfl  2002-03-28 10:08:03 ( ID:mi0jlrmlscj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ok,

thanks a lot for your help....

Right now it works, nearly at least, after 30 mins of correct conversion, the screen turns black again - 30 mins are ok, the rest ....

Any ideas?

Michael

Question - TMPGEnc error, please help! No.17363
Serguei  2002-03-27 08:31:34 ( ID:oireqccfulm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello.
I use TMPGen 2.53 under WINDOWS 2000 and very often after several sec. or min. of working it ends up in one of these ways:
1. It simply disappears wihtout any message,
or,
2. It gives message: "At address 0219db4a, read error ocured against address 0219db4a",
or,
3. There are two messages: "Windows 2000 returned error code=27. The parameter is incorrect" and "Dr. Watson was anable to attach to the process. It is possible that process exited before dr. Watson could attach it".
Any suggestion?
Best regards.
Serguei.

Best regards
Morten

Are you using any external encoders with TMPG. Check your enviromental settings and untick any external encoders.

Serguei  2002-03-27 13:32:01 ( ID:oireqccfulm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To Ashy
Thank you for reply. I'm not using any external encoders with TMPG.
Best regards.
Serguei.

Check your system for stability. Don't overclock to hard. Don't push your memory to the limit. And do not run memory and processor(s) at different bus speeds.

Good luck.

Bug report - MPEG-Tools: "Cut" kills second Audiotrack No.17362
Marc  2002-03-27 08:13:32 ( ID:edy2s85aaw2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After a lot of testing I found out, that the Cut-Function of the MPEG-Tools seems to have a bug: It removes the second Audiotrack of my MPG-File.

When I open the source-file with De-Multiplex, I get a video-stream and two audio-streams. Then I cut this source. Opening the destination-file with De-Multiplex shows a video-stream and only one audio-stream. The filesize indicates a missing audio-stream as well.

Trying to Merge/Cut SVCD in TMPGEnc(v2.53) hangs the box when trying to enter end time. Does anyone know of any solutions? Does TMPGEnc Plus fix the problem?

Marc  2002-03-27 09:57:11 ( ID:edy2s85aaw2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think, your System really hangs. After the Count-Up of the filesize, it takes a very long time until the file is written completely - the drive is accessed all the time.

I noticed that it takes a lot longer, when you don't keep the Window selected or have a screensaver activated.

On my system it takes about 10 minutes without any display-change until the file is written, when I cut about 800MB from a file.

Siddiq  2002-03-27 19:13:47 ( ID:e0iofpofmek )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the response. It is actually hung. There is no disk activity and I have left it overnight to no avail.

I'm having the sme problem on some of my MPEG videos as well...

I'm looking for an answer, si I'll post if I find anyting...

Novellus  2002-03-28 03:05:27 ( ID:b8lidfiyes2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I forgot to ask...

Are you making your own AVI, and if so, what encoder are you using?

I'm thinking that my problem relates the the encoder I use to create my AVI using SSMM.

yeah using xp.. I think I may have found a way to fix it though.. did a preview and it looks like its working now. What I had to do was install the Xvid Codacs and OggDS filters. Will update tommorrow when encode is done.

It fixed my problem. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Wanted to repost that the above things I did fixed the issue!!

Question - HELP!!! Spike in bitrate at end of mpg?!?!? No.17351
Matthew Coady  2002-03-27 03:55:12 ( ID:xkt5za064xr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using the latest version of tmpgenc (2.53, also tried 2.51), and I'm having problems with the mpg2s that I create. Using bitrateviewer, I'm seeing spikes at the end of my mpg on about 40% of my encoded files. I'm using the wizard's template for 8000 CBR, NTSC. Screenshot here: http://home.austin.rr.com/coady/bitrate.gif
the only way I can get good encodes is to trim the spike off the mpg (cut the last second or so). But this makes encoding a large number of AVIs a lot of work...
Thanks for any help!!!!
matt

Ashy  2002-03-27 11:47:15 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe the spike isn't the fault of TMPG. Have you checked your original AVI's to see if the spike exists there. Maybe there is a fault with your AVI encoding process.

Question - Quantize Matrix: floating point DCT No.17349
Geoff Hicks  2002-03-27 03:21:58 ( ID:lpciktrp7gg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

Using TMPGenc 2.5, on the SettingQuantize Matrix tabbed dialog, there is a selection named "Use floating point DCT" - at least that's what it says on my desktop. However, on my laptop it says "Use floating point DCT (while using SSE, always ON) and the check box has a partially grayed-out tick in it.

Anyone know why this happens?

Regards,

Geoff.

Ashy  2002-03-27 12:15:21 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The answer is due to the use of the mutimedia enhancements you are using on your PC.
If you are using an MMX enabled PC with SSE instructions sets then this is why you will get the "Use floating point DCT (while using SSE, always ON)" with a greyed out ticked box.
The reason why it is greyed out with a tick is because you currently have SSE enabled within TMPG and will be enabled by default when using SSE, if you goto Option>Enviromental settings and click the CPU tab you will see that SSE is ticked.
On your desktop where you see the "Use floating point DCT" only then you should find SSE isn't ticked or isn't selectable.

It is advisable to ensure that any MMX and SSE enhancements are ticked as this will improve encoding speed.

Hope this answers your question.
