Question - Problems Extracting Correct Audo Stream form DVD File No.32487
Beriah  2002-12-28 10:03:36 ( ID:x928stwcfjj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having problems getting the right audio streem from a .VoB file. When i try for the audio layers the default is comming up as layer 2. This layer will giv eme a Directors Discussion ofthe movie as it plays. When i select layer1 i always get an "encodeing" error around 34% of the way through.

Any suggestions for splitting the file to get and isolate multiple audio tracks would be welcome.

Minion  2002-12-28 23:20:03 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK..First make sure that you Dont have the "Angel Potion" Codec installed on your system, It is a Hacked Mpeg-4 codec that causes Problems like Pink and Purple discoloration on Files encoded with tmpgenc, the codecs file name is "apmpeg4v3.dll"...If you don"t have that codec installed then go to "Options" to "enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi plugins" and raise the priority of the "Direct Show File Reader" to "2"..This should clear up the image...

lupy  2002-12-28 11:32:13 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

means that file is not in the same folder as tmpgenc.......put all your tmpgenc files in the same folder!

What I would do is use DVD2AVI to extract all the Audio tracks and go through them till you find the correct one..If you are encodeing VOB files the Proper way Involves useing DVD2AVI to make a D2V file to frame serve and Extract the audio anyways so you should be familliar with how to use DVD2AVI so I won"t explain how to use it...

Question - 16x9 render error No.32473
Bruce Cavender  2002-12-28 04:33:20 ( ID:6t0cbiyxnza )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to encode an mpeg2 of a computer graphics AVI file I created.

The file is 1280x720 and the uncompressed AVI plays fine in WinMediaPlayer (albeit slow do to the very large amount of data).

I setup TMPGE as follows:
VIDEO:
Mpeg2
1280x720
16:9
29.97fps
CBR6000
MainProfile&Mail Level
NTSC
Interlace
4:2:0
8bits
Motion Est Search

ADVANCED
Interlace
Bottom field first B
16:9 Display
Center

GOP
1,5,2,1

When I try to encode, I get the error:

"This window size is not accepted by the selected MPEG-2 Level."

I have tried a number of different settings, but I cannot get around the error.

I am experimenting here and definitely beyond my knowledge of the standards.

Can anyone offer a suggestion to move me ahead with this encode or am I trying to do something MPEG-2 (or TMPGE) is not setup to do?

Thank You!!!
bruce

I don"t think "Main Profile" "Main Level" supports resolutions that high..I think you have to choose a Differant Profile..and i"m not sure if the Demo version supports Resolutions that High But I might be mistaken...

wcpaul  2002-12-28 17:37:03 ( ID:7hktvp.ygm2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What you are trying to do requires a fair amount of research on several levels.

For example, animation needs a different quantization matrix depending on how much it looks like "cartoon" style drawing. TMPGEnc does provide an example. Also, DCT precision probably should be raised.

Assuming you want DVD player compatible mpeg, the first step would be to resize to 720x480 (720x576 PAL). Again, for some styles of animation this is tricky and you might have to try several methods to get results without artifacts.

Question - AVI > MPEG, no audio!!! No.32467
jjbmf  2002-12-28 03:42:36 ( ID:k6hgy9s1hlj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey dudes, thanks for helping me in advance... Got a problem: I convertet a .avi file into .mpeg. first of all, there's no audio. and then the movie is way longer than the original .avi one, cause there's a black screen after the "real" clip has finished... ok, i could cut it, but that takes time and isn't a fine solution. any tips??? please request here or, even better, contact me at webmaster@jjbmf.de :-)

Minion  2002-12-28 04:42:49 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This won"t happen with every File you encode so Just Cut the extra stuff out and hope it doesn"t happen again..This could have been a bug in the header in the Avi file telling tmpgenc it is longer than it really is...

Minion  2002-12-28 04:45:00 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I forgot about the Audio, you Probably just need to extract the audio to a WAV file with something like Virtual Dub Or AVI-Mux and use the WAV file as the Audio source...

jjbmf  2002-12-28 14:32:48 ( ID:k6hgy9s1hlj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thanks i'll try

Jim  2002-12-28 17:48:02 ( ID:/vrfvpjulvo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Audio stream could also be ac3 format. Check the file information. You'll need to strip out the audio using VirtualDub, convert it to uncompressed wav using something like HeadAC3e, then use the derived audio strem for encoding.

Minion  2002-12-28 23:04:01 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

AVI-Mux will decompress AC3 to WAV and strip it from the AVI file that is why I mentioned it..virtual Dub doesn"t properly handle AC3 streams..

Question - Sony MPEG-2 Decoder? No.32466
Mr_S  2002-12-28 02:57:52 ( ID:2lfstschcsn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been curious about this since version 2.58 came out and listed it as the primary decoder. Can anyone tell me what software the Sony MPEG2 decoder comes with?

Hi, There might be a Filter you will need and you will have to write a script, I have never used avisynth to convert frame rates But here is a Link to were it will tell you what script command to use and were to get the ConvertFPS Filter..Avisynth takes Quite a Bit to get used to and learn to use in a profeciently, anyway here is the Link: http://www.avisynth.org/index.php?page=FPS ,........

me too...

lupy  2002-12-28 11:38:39 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

extract the audio with virtual dub to wav first....

desmo  2002-12-29 22:55:39 ( ID:zo3waf4igtc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Exactly. Set the audio to full processing mode, no compression. Then save as .wav file. Load the video into tmpgenc. Load the saved audio file into tmpgenc. Then process as usual.

Question - Saving an encoding project No.32455
tb33  2002-12-28 00:06:36 ( ID:1rp7uzodixc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can I save my project and continue where I leave off in the event my computer crashes? I've tried several times and it asks me if I want to overwrite the file and starts encoding all over again. If so, how?

Minion  2002-12-28 00:17:05 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

NO...You can not resume a Crashed Encodeing session....

tb33  2002-12-28 00:22:01 ( ID:1rp7uzodixc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So there's no way to save your project and start where you leave off.

Minion  2002-12-28 04:30:11 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are encodeing a File and something happens like you get an error or Tmpgenc Crashes or the Power goes out and a hurricane hits then there is NO way to start encodeing were you left off, you have to start from the Beginning again, OR you can use the Source Range and set it to start encodeing a new file a few frames after were the first one ends then after encodeing the second file use the "Merge & Cut" to Join the 2 files together....

Question - m2v.vfp causes READ ERROR No.32453

I don´t know why !!!!

Please help

Thanks from germany
michael

Minion  2002-12-28 00:16:19 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The M2V.vfp is not the Standard Mpeg2 decoder for Tmpgenc anymore...Tmpgenc now uses the Cyberlink and Ligos decoders to decode Mpeg2 files ,so to get these decoders you either have to have "Power DVD" Installed or the "Nemo" codec Pack with the Ligos Mpeg2 filters installed...But it is still best to use DVD2AVI to decode Mpeg2 files...
