Question - Downloading Free version No.43292
CSL  2005-07-09 13:06:06 ( ID:upl2cu9vaqa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I try to download version 2.324 I get a dead link page. Everyother link on the TMPGEnc.net website works, including the sample video. Is there some setting wrong on my IE or is there a problem with the site? Thanks in advance.

Question - Audio/Video desynchronization No.43289
Fess  2005-07-06 22:05:45 ( ID:fbc4bikkpa. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

Ashy & Minion still around?

I ripped with smart ripper
used DVD2AVI to create my .d2v ( I don't import all the vob files into DVD2AVI at once cause it would take to long, I just do 1st vob 1 day, the rest the next day)
used TMPEGencoder to encode.
1st encoded d2v file was fine
2nd encoded had audio/video desynchronization

Is there a way to fix the sync?

ashy  2005-07-07 21:33:13 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How do you mean it takes to long? How long It should only take a matter of minutes to create a d2v from a full DVD even on a relatively slow machine.

Your method is not a good way to do it anyway. If want to speed things up then don't rip the audio too. Disable the audio output in DVD2AVI by selecting 'NONE' for the track and the d2v will be created much quicker.
You can then use VOB2AUDIO to rip the audio from the DVD when you want the sound.

Ashy,

Thanks for the workflow tip. I'll give it a shot.

Regarding the the audio lag. Do I DeMux and then remove any padding or something?

Confused

Question - Doesn't convert entire movie No.43286
damon  2005-07-02 17:06:06 ( ID:6fdety6rjj. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sometimes when I compress MPEG movies, the converted movie is not complete. In a 25 minute movie, 2 or 3 minutes are left out. Here are my settings:
MPEG-1, 352x240 (source MPEG movie is larger), 29.97fps, CBR 500kbps, Audio Layer2, 44100hz, 96kbps

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Do I have to update to the licensed encoder to get full movie conversion?

B_Racer  2005-07-08 09:44:45 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

> CBR 500kbps, Audio Layer2, 44100hz, 96kbps

Are you serious? Maybe a Softwareplayer is able to handle this correctly, most DVD-Players won't. And the quality... argl...

ashy  2005-07-09 12:54:15 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Christ, it must look awful. Standard VCD resolution is bad enough, but that must be almost unwatchable.

Try setting the start and end points of the movie in the 'source range' function in 'advanced' settings.

I am trying to convert avi to m2v file... but i just get a black screen but the audio is converted fine...

aldaco12  2005-06-27 16:37:06 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just a series of checks..
What about the VFAPI plugin order (Option__Environmental Settings__VFAPI Plug-in)? Which priority order do you have?
And if you try to look at the output by doing 'Settings__Advenced___Source Range' (or Clip Frame)?
Does this heappen even if you try to encode that AVI into a MPEG-1 movie (VCD)?

Question - coverting .avi to .mpeg No.43279
Maki  2005-06-22 07:25:07 ( ID:y77iimhsb7r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to convert many avi files to mpeg but it takes a long time. I see there is a feature that says batch convert and Add to batch. How do I use them? And will it convert all the files I select from avi to mpeg?
Thanks!

Question - Media Player cannot read MPG created by TMPGEnc No.43276
riga  2005-06-21 06:24:01 ( ID:nbkidggqlt6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Media Player cannot read MPG created by TMPGEnc.
It generates an error. Should DVD player read it?

ashy  2005-06-23 21:28:20 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You need an MPEG2 player. WinDVD, Power DVD or if you want free players then I recommend VLC media player or Media player classic.

Question - d2v problems - HELP! No.43273
martin  2005-06-21 06:02:09 ( ID:dwo93kibrtc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So, I've been having problems with TMPGEnc and 'd2v' files. 'DVD2AVI.VFP' are in the proper directories, the VFAPI plugin in DVD2AVI is enabled, and the 'DVD2AVI Project File Reader' is enabled in the Environmental settings of TMPGEnc, but it still isn't working.

Can someone tell me what I should do now, this problem is REALLY starting to vex me. Thanks in advance.

ashy  2005-06-23 21:26:39 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The 'DVD2AVI.VFP'file you are using MUST be from the same version that you created the d2v filw with.

I would recommend using version 1.76 only with TMPG as this is the only version which is compatible with Smartripper files also.

Delete your current version and install the one above. Put the 'DVD2AVI.VFP' in the TMPG directory and recreate your d2v.
If the d2v still does not open in TMPG then raise the 'DVD2AVI.VFP' priority in the VFAPI plugins to top of the list.

aldaco12  2005-06-27 16:41:48 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

And check this order (in mine it can load the D2V files):
DirectShow Multimedia Fila Reader = 1
... (all other) = 0
...
...
DVD2AVI project File Reader 1.77.1 = 0
AVI FVW Compatibility reader = -1

You're able to raise/lower the priority of a plugin by right-clicking it, isn't it?

Question - MOV to MPG No.43271
Eric  2005-06-15 03:42:30 ( ID:w1zkarp6xbm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert a 30 sec movie (.MOV) clip to an .MPG format. When done, I have the Video but not the Audio.

I am using: TMPGEnc 2.524.63.181 with QTReader.vfp

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer. :)

ashy  2005-06-15 22:39:27 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Forget about the QTreader.vfp it's dog slow.
Download and install the 'Quicktime alternative' codec instead.
If you still have trouble with the audio after that install the 'Core aac' codec.

Also the 3IVX codec is capable of decoding QT too.

Question - Buying dvdauthor disc through amazon.com? No.43270
fnsooner  2005-06-15 02:18:22 ( ID:nwn2utq/vug )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My father downloaded the free trial about a month ago(my recomendation) and liked it. He wants to buy the box(disc) version. So I am attempting to get it for him.

I ordered the box version from Amazon.com on May 30th and it still has not shipped. My dads trial is about to expire.

Is there a better way to get the box version, or should I just wait till Amazon delivers it. I have attempted to contact Amazon, but have been unsuccessful. I think the software will eventually arrive. If I knew of anyone else that might be more reliable, I would cancel my order and get it there.

I would appreciate a reference to a better seller of your product. thanks

i ran into a mpg that would play in media player, but when dragged into tmpgenc no "video" source was found. i changed the extension to "mpv" but still it wouldn't "see" video. any ideas? js

ashy  2005-06-14 23:42:59 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try opening it with the browse button.
If not it may be MPEG2.

skimmer  2005-06-15 12:09:56 ( ID:dg4txon.4bw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no dice. i "feel" it's corrupted. do you know of a freeware "repair' program? js

skimmer  2005-06-15 12:18:01 ( ID:dg4txon.4bw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

it would seem i've answered my own question. i found "MPEG Header Corrector". anyone have any experience with this? good/bad comments? js

ashy  2005-06-15 22:30:55 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First you need to establish whether the file is MPEG1 or 2.
If it's MPEG2 then your problem is likely you don't have a compatible MPEG2 codec.

MPEG corrector only works on MPEG1 and in my experience doesn't actually correct anything.

You could try running the MPEG through the simple multiplexer to correct the headers.

If that doesn't work then you will need something like MPEG2VCR to rebuild the the MPEG before putting it back into TMPG.
