Well I doubt it,Probably due to Liscencing matters, or to the fact that RM is a Crappy format, But if you want to encode Rm files there is One Encoder I know of that encodes RM Files to Mpeg and that is called "EO_Video".....cheers

Thanks for the suggestion, I've used EO Video, but it is slow and produces low quality video. Do you know any other SW tool(s) can convert RM to MPEG?

The point is there are million of RMs available online, and I don't want to watch them on a small computer 21" monitor; I prefer to convert &burn them on DVD, to watch on my 50" plasma TV.

The point is these RM's just look just crap when played on anything bigger than a 17" monitor and even worse on a 50" inch TV such as a high definition Plasma, so why bother?
Don't tell me you have actual movies in this format. Anybody that uses RM for proper movies needs a check up from the neck up.

Like I said before, million of RM movies can not be ignored, moreover since some of the movies are currently avaiable only in RM format.
What is a good bitrate to set for a non-standard mpeg file? This must be based on the CD speed but how do they relate, is it 150K per speed of cd eg 16 speed is 16*150k 2400K
I am having trouble re-coding from a XVID encoded AVI, I can get Video Aspects ratio OK, but No sound at all, Any suggestions?
I'm using Latest 2.520.54.163..

TMPG is able to start up on my Windows XP system. However, when I trigger an encoding task, it simply close totally; not in the task manager at all. Any advice? Thanks.

I have experienced this problem before on a Win 2k machine. TMPGEnc is crashing most likely due to a codec problem. It might help if tried to reinstall the particular codec. If you post what codec your file is encoded with perhaps we could give a more specific answer.
Sorry too fast with the button. I'm LG. I've followed some advices below. However, my avi file is still not recognised. I've used G-Spot to check out the avi format. It is OpenDML, so I promoted the OpenDML "Vfapi Plugins" to priority 2, still not working. Any other ideas?

For this Error all you Usually have to do is go to "options" to "enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the Priority of the "Direct show File Reader" to "2" ...This will Usually get Most AVI/Mpeg4 formats to load in Tmpgenc....Cheers
If you want to remove Bad Frames from a Mpeg file you will probably need a Frame accurate Mpeg editor like Mpeg2VCR, But be warned that Bad Fames in a Mpeg file can Mean the whole file is Corrupted....
It is Probably because your AVI file has an audio format that is Not supported By Tmpgenc(VBR Mp3 or AC3) you will have to extract the audio from your AVI file to Wav format and use the Wav file as your Audio source....Cheers
If you are Trying to get as Many episodes on a DVD then you should use the SIF DVD Standard and NOT the Full D1 standard..The SIF standard calls for a Resolution of 352+240 and Mpeg1 but you can also use Mpeg2 which is what I use and it produces better Quality...you can set the Bitrate to say 1000kbs Minimun and 3000kbs Max with 75 Quality and you should be able to get 6+ hours on a single DVD-R with Fairly good Quality depending on the quality of your Source files have..I use this Method for Backing up DVD"s that I don"t want to waste a Whole DVD-R on and Have gotten up to 4 full Movies on a DVD-R useing this Method with Surpriseingly good Quality...Cheers
Just Make your Own profile, But you can"t use the Wizard for this, Just close the Wizard and click the "load" Button and Navigate into the "templates" folder to the "Extra" folder and load the "unlock.mfc" template ,now all of the Setting will be unlocked and you can set the to whatever you want, first set it to "Mpeg2"and Set the Resolution to 352+240 set the Bitrate to Constant Quality and 1000kbs Minimum and 3000kbs max and 75% Quality, set the DC precition to 10 ,and the "Motion Precition Search" to "High Quality" and make sure the Audio is set to 48000hz and encode like Normal, it should be Much Quicker than usual encodeing cuz of the Lower resolution..The Only DVD authoring Program I have used to Author SIF DVD"s is one Called "DVD-Lab" so I don"t know What other DVD authoring Programs will author this Format,You can download a 30 Day fully working demo here: http://www.mediachance.com/download.htm ...

What are the Source of the Files you are Encodeing?? Are they from a DVD or are they Captured off of a TV Card?? I only use this Method When I have the Highest Quality source files which are usually From DVD"s if they are DivX Files downloaded off of the Net then The Quality will Probably not be as Good as you never know how the Files were made in the First Place, and if the AVI Files are of a Low Resolution allready then that will also hinder the Quality...Since I know nothing about your Source files it is Hard to give you the best advice..If the Quality isn"t as good as you like then Raise the Resolution to 352 X 480 (This is called the Half D1 standard)and the Max bitrate up to 5000kbs and the Minimum to 1750kbs, this will increase the Quality probably 100% but it will also increase the File size and the Files will look a Little Wierd on your Monitor but on a TV they Loog Normal and they Get resized when displayed on your TV..If you files have a Little Noise or the Picture is Blurry or whatever you can use the Filters in the Advanced settings to clean up the Images..I think these are Probably DivX avi files cuz you say that you don"t have any Audio in your Mpeg file, This is because the Audio in your AVI files is Probably of a Format that is not supported By Tmpgenc like VBR Mp3 or AC3 audio, what you will need to do is extract the audio from your AVI files to WAV format, there are a Few ways to do this depending on what type of audio is in your AVI file, You should download a Program called "Virtual Dub" it can extract the audio from AVI files, If the Audio is "VBR Mp3" Virtual Dub will give you a warning,so to extract the audio you load in your AVI file and then set the "Audio" setting to "Full Proscessing Mode" and set "Compression" to None then go to "File" to "Save as WAV" and Give the File a Name and it will extract the audio to a Wav file that you can use in Tmpgenc as the Audio source, If the Audio in your AVI is AC3 it is a Bit more Complicated, to tell if the Audio is AC3 load the File in and go to "File" to "File Information" and under the audio format it will say "Unknown" and/Or "Tag2000"..I doubt it is AC3 so I woun"t explain how to extract it, But if it is let me know and I"ll tell you how...Cheers

So you have an AVI file that Has AC3 audio and you want it in a Format that Tmpgenc can use Like Wav..
Firstly if you are Makeing a DVD you will want to Keep the Audio as AC3 cuz this is the best format for DVD..To Properly Extract the AC3 from an AVI file you will Need a Few Tools,
One is Virtual Dub which will extract the audio(http://www.virtualdub.org/) you will need a Program called "beSliced"(http://dspguru.notrace.dk/BeSlicedv0.2.zip) this will Fix the header on the Extracted audio so it can be converted,and you will need something to convert to Wav "PX3",(http://www.digital-digest.net/downloads/files/encode/px3conv_004.zip)..
So first load your AVI file into Virtual Dub, now under "Audio" select "Direct Stream Copy" now under "File" go to "Save as Wav" then give the File a Name and save it..
Now you will have a Wav file, But it isn"t a real WAV file, it is really just a AC3 file with a Wav header so rename the Wav file to from "file-name.wav" to "file-name.ac3"
Now this AC3 file has a Wav header that needs to be fixed, so open up and Run "BeSliced" a Little window will open up, now Drag and Drop the
"file-name.ac3" file on to the little window and choose "Fix"..after it has finnished doing it"s thing there will be a File named "file-name_Fixed01.ac3" this is a Real AC3 file so if you want to make a DVD then you would use this File as the audio in your DVD authoring Program, but if not then now you have to convert the AC3 file to Wav..Open up "PX3Convert.exe" and Load the Ac3 file into it and click "Start Convert" and in a Few Minutes you will have a Wav file that you can use as the Audio source in Tmpgenc..There are Other methods that aren"t as Complicated But this seems the Most reliable....Cheers

Yes, but make sure you either raise the priority of the 'VFW' filter in the VFAPI plugins to higher than the 'Directshow' filter or just disable 'Directshow' altogether.
There is another really easy method with AVIMUX04, but for some reason some people can't even work out how to use it even though it is sooo simple, so I will post this method instead. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/160649.php
AC-3 DCM Decompressor works for me. I do not have to do anything else...problably lucky to have correct settings already. I am happy and you are champs.
Great you go the AC3 ACM decompressor to Work, I still haven"t Quite gotten it to work on my system yet, I keep getting an error like "Could not initiate Same rate converter" But I have gotten it to work with CCE..But I"m really glad you got it to work as it saves a Lot of Trouble....cheers

You Can Probably fix this By going to "Options" to "Enviromental settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the priority of the "Direct Show File Reader" to "2"...This usually works if you have the Right codec installed....
You must have done something else cuz the "P3P Package.dll" error is Caused from Not haveing all of the Tmpgenc Files in the Same Folder, There is Absolutly no way that raiseing the Direct show Priority will cause this error...Have you Maybe taken the Main EXE File out of the Tmpgenc Folder and Put it on your Desktop as a ShortCut?? or have all of the Tmpgenc files just sitting on your Desktop?? cuz this is the Only way that this error occurs...

But just recently when i used TmpegBatchList V3.0 to create the batch file and load them to TmpgEnc V2.520, the program closes automatically after the first encoding is over.
I have tried to select all files(Cntrl A) and the click 'run' but it does'nt work.
Hello. I downloaded this movie where the size was not given. So it took me several weeks to download. Now it's finally finished and what do I find!? A movie that's sized 320x240 with a mono audio track! :( It's in widescreen though. So, do most DVD players play that size? I don't want to stretch it back to 352x240 because that would lose a lot of quality. Also, with the mono audio, can I make it stereo? Please help!
Well if you want to make a VCD you will have to Stretch it to 352+240 But that is not that much of a Stretch and you would loose little or no Quality stretching the Resolution that Much (It"s only 10%)..Pluss the File is Probably Progressive which handles Upsizeing much better than Interlaced Files to when Up-sizeing the Resolution..And you can Make your Audio psudo sterio, You would Probably get the Best results useing a Good Audio editor like Sound Forge and make a mix it so that the same mono track is comeing out of Both audio Chanells, I think Tmpgenc Might do this also if you Just the set audio settings to Sterio but you might want to test it first..Wow several weeks to get just one file, You really must have wanted it really badly?? No Probably not, 320+240 doesn"t conform to any Broadcast format and DVD Players are Not made to play that resolution, And either are TV"s..320+240 is the resolution used for internet streaming, You can Try it but I don"t not think it will Play properly on your TV...If you really have an avertion to resizeing the Image you can allways add a 16 Pixel boarder on the Left and Right sides that way you do not resize but also have a 352+240 image and Most of the Boarder won"t be visible cuz of your TV"s Overscan will Mask most if not all of it....Good Luck
There is a chance that this MPEG may play OK as it is. The MPEG is actually using a ratio of 1.33.1 which is in fact a 4:3 ratio. It will depend on your player how it handles the file, but I'd say you have a good chance if you don't have a strict player.
As for the audio, if the mono audio is already coming out of both left and right channels then there is no point in altering the audio, you won't be able to acheive stereo anyway.
