Hello,

I have installed the latest version of the AC3plugin (1.10), registered it, but the Environmental Settings window of TmpgEnc DVD Author (1.6.26.73, latest version too I think) still says 'Cannot find the Dolby Digital (AC-3) Encoder'.

Therefore I can not hear sound in the preview window (the DVDs generated do have sound though).

Can you help me with this ? I'm getting desperate, have tried everything I could think of.

I can't unistall TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5. It keeps telling me it can't find the file: TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5.msi

I am having the same problem. I have Windows XP and am using the "add or remove programs" program because my copy of TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 did not come with an uninstaller. Is there an uninstall program somewhere or can this problem be fixed?

My goal is to archive miniDV on DVD. Just bought 3.0 XPress and Author 1.6, don't need anything fancy, just high quality. Saved to .avi via firewire with MS MovieMaker 2. Encoded with TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress, MPEG2 with PCM audio. Authored with Author 1.6. At every step of the way, the software indicated that the file was 3.7GB and would fit on DVD except when I tried to record to DVD+RW. When I selected the VIDEO_TS folder in the DVD Writing Tool, it showed that I needed twice as much capacity, 7.4GB. Why? When I look at the size of the files in Windows, they total 3.7GB. Original tapes are 60 minutes. Will I be able to get 60 minutes of tape on a DVD without compromising quality? Why does TMPGEnc software give the thumbs up regarding capacity until the moment of truth?

maybe u could compress it more with dvd shrink

I have had a fundamental problem since installing XP SP2 and Windows Media Player 10.

Whenever I author a DVD in tmpgenc author, and press "begin encoding" the program shuts down on me.

Might this be anything to do with SP2 or media player?

Or is it something to do with the presence/absence of certain codecs?

My system is P4-3.0G, 512M RAM, Win XP SP2.

I used DVD Author to burn a Piodata DVD+R DL DVD using a Sony DRU 700A writer. When the burning had finished, and I visibly inspected the dvd, it appeared as if only portions of the DVD had been written on (about 50%). Only the first 10 minutes, or so, of the DVD could be played by CyberLink PowerDVD or by my Sony DVD player which is hooked up to my TV.

When I used Nero Burning ROM 6.6.0.1 to burn a new DVD containing the AUDIO_TS AND VIDEO_TS folders, which had been produced by DVD Author, the finished DVD had a normal appearance, and both PowerDVD and my Sony DVD player were able to play this 2nd DVD.

Has anyone else had any problems burning double layer DVDs with the burner program that is part of DVD Author?

I then tried to burn a 2nd DVD, while using the same files, and this DVD came out a "coaster". So, maybe it's a media problem. I have ordered three Verbatim DL DVDs, and when they come in I'll try to burn the same files again. These DL DVDs are costing me about $10 each, so it's rather an expensive way to make coasters. I never had a coaster problem with single layer DVDs.

I have just received the Verbatim media and immediately successfully burned a DVD+R DL two hour video with the TMPGEnc DVD 1.6 Author DVD Writing Tool. Everything worked OK, so I guess the problem all along was with the Piodata DL media. So, no more Piodata DL media for me.

I like to create DVD's with music videos and giving my DVD an option to randomly play tracks would be awesome. Since I can fit 2 hrs a big part of the time I end up hearing the first 10 songs or so while the ones towards the back gets ignored. Would like to see this option in future releases.

MPEG editor is just for editing. It doesn't have copy protection option. TMPGENC DVD Author also does not have the option. Maybe in a future version?

You can't use Copy-Protection (CSS) on DVD-R/+R. It's a Hardware-Issue.

Some commerical DVD's have still pictures(BMP/JPG), like a picture gallery. The menu would have back/forward buttons to select different pictures to view.

I would like to have this option in a future version of DVD Author. Currently the only way to add pictures, is to make them the background picture of a Track Menu. But when you do this, each track also needs a video file. I would like to add pictures and view them, without having to add a video file for that track. Thanks...

There are some minor grammar errors in dialog boxes. After a disc is finished writing, a small dialog box pops up that says "Writing". This should say "Writing Done" or "Writing Finished". The same for the DVD Author program, after it creates the DVD folders.

This is a small request, and could confuse new users. The first time I saw this box say "Writing", I thought it still needed to continue to write, but actually it was finished.

How about making it so we could replace the "Highlight" layer with a "Rollover" layer; in "Specify image for thumbnail frame" dialog?
You could have the "Rollover" layer be just like the "Thumbnail" layer except that it can be invisible until mouse-over, like the "Highlight" layer. A text rollover layer would be nice too, but it's already there with the ability to make a text layer the "Highlight" layer. ( an interface to do it in TDA would be nice though) Of course, you could just make a still image with your text on it and load that with a "Thumbnail" type "Rollover" layer

Personally, I would like a "Layer Edit" selection under the regular "Edit" selection of the right click menu for a thumbnail on the "Edit menu theme" page.

The current bottom "Frame" layer should also be made available so that you can
select its image and parameters. A text option here, including the ability to paste from the clipboard, would be good.

A "Rollover" layer that can replace the current "Highlight" layer over Text
items, would be teriffic. You could have a text of the title and when you mouse-over it the "Rollover" layer image or clip would appear.

All the elements seem to be there we just need TDA setup to allow us to use them.
