Question - First Play video not playing on compiled DVD No.71450
Good Knight  2020-03-28 21:04:44 ( ID:kb1jb2p9edw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a DVD I'm trying to Author which needs to have a copyright video play at the beginning prior to the top menu.

I have imported this video as a First Play track. When I simulate the DVD in the TMPGEnc Auhoring Works it plays the copyright video correctly before the menu pops up. But in the final compiled DVD it just goes straight to the opening menu.

I can see the Copyright video has been burnt to the disk, as it is it's own VOB file, but it doesn't play.

I have tried all three of the different options for 'Play what on insert', nothing works.

I have even tried making it into a non firstplay track, just making it a regular video track and telling the software to play that first before going to a menu. Once again it plays correctly during simulation, but not on the compiled DVD.

Hello everyone,
I have exactly the same problem and reported it to support. This bug only affects DVD making, not Blu Ray making.

Toussaint  2020-06-29 15:45:58 ( ID:u4619gxuoxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello everyone,

It seems that the FIRST PLAY is not used by many users. This is the reason why Pegasys cares so little about the crash that affects this software. The response from the support that I obtained (Given to another user) consists in modifying the setting of the First play by choosing in the video drop-down tab: "Encode All Video Streams as Below" does not bring any repair to this breakdown. The system does not burn the First Play, nor does it save it to the ISO image disc.
So Pegasys, at work if you want your software not to be discredited.

JNPSTUDIO  2020-07-12 00:36:35 ( ID:u4619gxuoxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I have the same problem as Good Knight and Toussaint:

I did a Blu Ray project with a First Play, and then converted it onto DVD.
Then I created one image discs for each of them.

The Blu Ray image disc is read with VLC and the burned disc is read on my living room deck without any problem.
The First Play is played before the menu appears, which waits for an order.

On the other hand, the DVD image disc is played on VLC, but there is no First Play.
This is the menu that appears directly.

It is the same for the DVD burned and read on my living room deck: No First play, direct menu.

So I’m led to think that many TAW6 users don’t know what First Play is for. Generally, professionals use it as a warning on the prohibition to broadcast a work in a public place, except to expose themselves to legal recourse relating to the royalties for the musical works burned on the media.

For my part, the First Play is used to start my videos with my own logo of amateur videographer.

It’s very “Pro” and makes a big impact on my friends and family.

I contacted Pegasys TAW6 support to explain this problem to them, but it seems that they punted on the issue.

So will we be able to cherish the hope that Pegasys will seriously study this problem?

I hope so because I am convinced that this software is fabulous and that therefore it deserves to be up to what it can do so well elsewhere.

After many essays that I did under the aegis of Pegasys, which came to my aid in a very cooperative way, I was led to find that TAW6 was not at issue on the problem of not playing The First Play on the DVDs made with this app.

Indeed, it is VLC that is involved since I do not know what update. The physical DVDs made with TAW4 and TAW6 are all readable with my living room player (Sony) with the First Play.

The time I noticed a problem not reading First Play on my lounge reader was due to the use of an incorrect encoding of the MPEG 2 master which instead of being in "Program Stream" was in "Elementary Stream"

I therefore withdraw all my comments regarding any defect of TAW6 which remains for me the best consumer authoring software on the market.

Question - Custom menu links for special features page No.71448
Good Knight  2020-03-25 03:14:03 ( ID:5opklhuintn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm producing a DVD for a film. It consists of:

- The Film in both stereo and 5.1
- Film subtitles
- Directors commentary of film
- The trailer
- Behind the scenes video

I have made a separate special features menu with the trailer and the behind the scenes video on it. I would like to have a link to the directors commentary on that same Special Features page. But because it is an audio track of the main film, the only way I seem to be able to access it is in the audio setup page automatically generated for the film (track 1)

Is it possible to do this in this software? It seems like it shouldn't be a problem just to add a custom link but the interface feels very locked down.

Question - mp4 file are not managed properly No.71443
mgion  2020-03-17 03:43:30 ( ID:nq7dfjctg3g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To whom it may concerns.

I usually process my clips with Premiere Pro (output as MPEG2-DVD) and import them in TMPGEnc Authoring Works 6 as m2v files, which work perfectly
Recently I have processed HD clips on premiere pro (output as H.264) and I have import them in TMPGEnc Authoring Works 6 as mp4 files . However, the video jerks both when playing the timeline track and in the simulation mode.
I thank you in advance for your help

Export from Premiere Pro using the H.264 Blu-ray preset. Exporting just as .mp4 will give you a non-compliant file and will cause issues.

If I create an H.264 Blu-ray video in Adobe Premiere, will Authoring Works 6 reincode the video?

Question - Menu Audio Length No.71429
Arthur.S  2020-02-12 04:39:05 ( ID:xqgrsig8zma )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I normally use motion menus, and the background audio length is in 'Global Settings'. This time using a static menu I can't find where to adjust the background audio length. On simulation the menu stops before the audio is finished. The only way I've found myself is to create a motion menu...even though there isn't one! Any other suggestions guys?

tkrave  2020-02-15 07:22:47 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Once you add audio, it becomes a motion menu and you must change the audio duration in the motion menu settings. If you go to the Motion Menu settings, you'll see that the option for "Still Picture and Background Audio" is selected.

Question - Extra page menu No.71419
Maury  2020-01-28 07:10:59 ( ID:yaijflpzn12 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi. How can I add an"EXTRA" button on main menu linked to extras contents ?
Thanx

tkrave  2020-02-01 08:57:28 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can use a Note page to add text and pictures. For extra video, it would have to be another track menu. You can choose text buttons if you use the Custom Menu option and you can then use any font and text as your buttons.

Question - CREATING ADDITIONAL TITLE PAGE LINK No.71388
methxtra  2019-11-10 07:01:25 ( ID:iolex/l3jvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I need to add another link to my TITLE PAGE as to link to extras page etc can this be done in TAW6

Thanks

tkrave  2019-11-27 15:45:39 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you create a note page for the top/track page that has a title page, it will automatically create a link to the note page on your title page.

Question - Triple layer blu ray No.71319
rdavis  2019-07-03 02:24:33 ( ID:xpugfdtqfnc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Currently using Authoring works 6.0. My blu ray file >50 gigs. My burner supports triple layer, but when I create a file in Authoring Works it says since the file is >50 gig it will create a file that is not conformant to the BDMV standard. The file is created with no apparent errors, but will it burn to the blu ray disk correctly?
Thanks

Ghost Rider  2019-07-01 02:04:31 ( ID:j5vig.rzsum )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

New to the forum and software. I demoed both authoring and mastering works. Most of what I want to do is done in authoring works. I make gopro videos of mountain bike rides and most require no editing beyond what I can do in authoring works.

A recent ride ended a sunset and some of the the video at the end is too dark I was able to use Mastering works 6.0 to brighten it up a little. Looks like I have to fully re-encode to a m2ts file and reopen in authoring works to add additional audio tracks and encode again to a BD movie disc/ISO.

Question - Add Chapter Points at Interval DVD Video No Menu No.71314
adhaas85  2019-06-29 23:26:15 ( ID:lt5wfgexufw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I had the demo of Authoring Works 6, I was able to add chapter points at intervals for my single timeline. The disc had no menu. I cannot figure out how to do this now that I have purchased the software.

Can anyone help me find where to do this?

adhaas85  2019-07-01 10:37:15 ( ID:lt5wfgexufw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Figured it out.

Double click on an imported clip, click the hamburger icon on the toolbar, select "Advanced Chapter Edit Tool", set your interval, click OK, wait, then click OK again.

Question - Using on two computers? No.71299
TrvisBckle63  2019-06-15 02:50:38 ( ID:rdlzrzhzabk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can I use this software on two computers? I have a massive tape collection reaching into the several thousands at the moment I'm ripping tapes with Virtualdub as lossless files and then making DVD's but it's just too time consuming so I'm building another PC from bits I have lying around so I can rip on one and make DVD's on the other it would just be handy if I was able to have it on both for choice, I do also have version 5, Thanks.

tkrave  2019-06-27 14:33:37 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can only use a license on one computer. Using it on more than one might cause a license suspension and you'll have to contact Pegasys to unlock it. If you still have version 5, just use that on one machine and version 6 on the other.

Question - Can Highlights Fade in? No.71295
hurricane1951  2019-06-10 21:22:21 ( ID:xrrefj2.lio )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've created a menu that fades in the links to the tracks. However, the highlights still appear on the menu before the text fades in. Is there a way to make the highlights fade in as well?

tkrave  2019-06-27 14:39:28 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Go to the Menu editor, click on the Global Menu Settings button. Go to the Motion Menu tab, make sure one of the Motion Menu options is selected, then the option for "Delay Duration for Highlight" should be enabled. This option delays the appearance of the highlights so they can appear after your menu has fully faded-in. Just set the duration to the same duration as the fade-in.

Question - Change source video in project No.71293
PicLily  2019-06-07 05:40:20 ( ID:ueane.7qjql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dear community,

I am looking for a way to change the source video in a project. I created a full dvd layout with a .mpg file and want to apply all settings to a .m2v file of identical length. It is the same video exported a different way from Premiere. Is there a way to do this without having to create the layout again from scratch?

Thank you,
Chris
