Question - Track Menu No.69694
rustman54  2015-05-07 13:19:57 ( ID:vupxaecic4c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to navigate from track menu to track menu? I have an instructional video with 24 chapters. If I split the video into three tracks, I can then set up a track menu with 8 chapter points. I would like to set up a button on each track menu page that would go to the next (or previous) track menu. The reason for this structure is to avoid the issue of having a multipage track menu. It seems that when you have a multipage track menu, when playing the video, the 'track' button will always return you to page 1 of the multipage menu. I am trying to set it up so that the 'track' button, will return you to the page where the chapter point exists.

Using TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5

I want a main page w TITLE and TRACKS.
The idea is for this main page to PLAY ALL (playu main title) or jump to the track page where tracks can be selected.

I am choosing a TRACK MENU TEMPLATE.
I set the chapter marks and name them scenes 1, scene 2 etc
I add all motion options and sound etc

When I go to simulate I only see 1 chapter on the tracks page.
Where are all the thumbnails and how do I get to the chapters (the thumbnail "links") to each chapter?

Am I doing something wrong in menu wizard or the initial clip editing stages?

Question - BluRay discs slower to burn on faster hardware No.69576
ki7xh  2015-02-23 09:14:01 ( ID:wwmt.bac4xl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I built a new system in 2014 and have one minor issue with TAW5 I can't seem to sort out. I'm hoping somebody here might have an answer.

Burning a BR data disc takes about twice as long as it did on my previous system that was running TAW4. I ran a test to compare the systems, using the TAW4/5 disc writing tool, moving 22.685GB of identical data to Verbatim 6X BD-Rs. The results...

OLD MACHINE, TAW4 (4.0.7.32), 15:23 to burn. (Asus P5B deluxe M/B, Intel Dual Core 6400 at 2.13 GHz, 2GB RAM, Win7 Pro SP1 32-bit, LG 8X BR writer)

NEW MACHINE, TAW5 (5.2.2.61), 29:58 to burn. (Asus P9X79Pro M/B, Intel Core i7 3920K @ 3.2GHz, 32GB RAM, Win7 Pro SP1 64-bit, LG 14X BR writer)

I've tried changing the SATA channel for the BR writer, the SATA cable, updated to the newest version of TAW5, and even swapped the writer (from a 14X Pioneer to the current LG 14X optical drive). No matter my change, 29:58 to burn it.

Burned discs seem to work fine, so it's not a huge issue. I just can't help but think that I have something set wrong somewhere.

Thanks for your consideration!

Just a suspecion, but perhaps you have a lot of stuff running in the background that you are not aware of, who is stealing a lot of your memory away.
Try do download Process Explorer and investigate your entire system to see what is running with out your knowledge:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Regular cleaning of the entire system also helps to speed up the computer, this you can do with CCleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

That sounds almost as if one burner is running at 8x the other at 4x speed. Is something throttling your burner speeds?

Question - How can I create my own templates? No.69550
Jeremy Gadd  2015-02-12 20:13:26 ( ID:znbpcr/azoa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to be able to create my own templates. can someone guide me on how I can do this. I have Photoshop, Illustrator etc. and would like to be able to create my own customised backgrounds and buttons. Thank you.

tkrave  2015-02-13 08:29:55 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Backgrounds are just images, so just make an image at the size of your menu (1920x1080 for example). You can change the background in the menu editor or you can add it as an item that appears in the menu parts list when you create a custom menu by using the Menu Item Creator.

Custom buttons can be created by using the Menu Item Creator in the "Advanced Tools" section. You can create your buttons in Photoshop and put each button on it's own layer (or just make an image for each button). Each layer must be named a certain way and then you can just import the psd file into the Menu Item Creator and it will automatically apply each layer to the appropriate button function. See the help file for detailed instructions on how to name each layer.

Finally, you can also create custom thumbnail frames with using the Menu Item Creator. Again, the help file is probably the best way to learn how to do this.

Once you create these elements, they will show up as parts in the custom menu wizard. Then, you can create your menu and then save it as a template, which will then show up as a selectable menu template in the menu wizard.

I've been using TAW5 with the Technical Preview of Windows 10 (Build 9926) for about a week now, and I'm pleased to report that they seem to play well together.
All I needed to do was enable the "Media Foundation File Reader" plugin in the "Input Output Format List" part of Preferences. I also ran a CUDA re-optimisation, just for good measure. All good :)

Question - Ultimate Quality DVD settings No.69498
halfpipe  2015-01-28 04:55:32 ( ID:yukzn3nvong )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Some clients still require delivery of the video on DVD.
The source files are xvac-s
I wish to deliver the ultimate quality dvd and time to encode is not important.
I have chosen advanced encoding "slow mode" and would like to force 2 pass encoding . Can you please show how to engage 2pass encoding and if you have other recommendations. That would be welcome
Thank You

tkrave  2015-01-28 09:31:02 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For 2 pass encoding, go the Edit stage and for each track, click on the "Settings" button to open the Track Settings window.

Go to the Video tab and select "Re-encode all videos as below" as the Output setting. This should enable the 2 pass encoding option to appear towards the bottom of the window and you will also be able to change the bitrate settings.

Question - Multi Angle/Seamless Branching support? No.69482
medialex  2015-01-25 19:42:24 ( ID:1gj.dju8yv. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello everybody,

facing a great new project, I have to look for the right DVD authoring software, but I do not know if TMPGEnc can fulfill my needs. Maybe one of you can help, but let me first describe what I am going to do.

I have five videos of identical length (about 15-20 minutes) shot in XAVC-S and synced with the implemented timecode. Every video has been shot in a different location of a race track and therefore has its own (I mean different) soundtrack. Now I would like to create a DVD/Blu-ray that allows the client to switch between all those videos in real time while chasing his favourite race driver along the track by hitting the "Multi" button on its DVD player.

The question is if TMPGEnc can handle such an effect that differs from "regular" Multi Angle because of different soundtracks? Or do I have to look for another authoring software? I will be thankful for every kind of help.

Kind regards

medialex

As for DVD authoring program, you may give Digiber burner http://www.digiber.com,It is all in one and simple to use so I've stuck with it, accepts everyting as input and burn to disc.

Question - Minimum Menu Structure No.69470
Legolad  2015-01-19 01:56:55 ( ID:q26rymh0ahn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey folks,

I have a pretty simple question that I'm hoping you can answer.
What is the minimum menu structure allowed by TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5?

I am creating a Blu-Ray disc for a film director client. The structure we both want is very simple (see below), but I can't seem to find an application that allows for it.

Thanks all,
Legolad

Here's what I've already done:
1. I searched this forum for "default menu" and "minimum menu", but found no answer.
2. I downloaded the trial version and tried to build what I want, but none of the templates I've tried so far (4 of them) allow me to get the structure I need.
3. I found the "Bluray Global Menu Settings" which has a tab that allows me to show/hide certain elements, but without being able to move subtitles to the main menu, I'm a little stumped.

It looks promising, certainly better than PowerDirector and DVD Architect. I just can't tell if I can do what I want.

MENU STRUCTURE I'D LIKE TO BUILD:

Screen 1: Default screen when playing the disc
- Background image already includes the title of the film so we don't need a label for the film title.
- Button 1: [Play Film - 再生] - plays the film from the beginning.
- Button 2: [Scenes - チャプター] - navigates to Screen 2 (Scene Page A).
- Label 1: English Subtitles
- Button 3: On - turns on English subtitles - selected by default
- Button 4: Off - turns off English subtitles for current play session

Screen 2: Scene Page A
- Same Background Image as Screen 1
- 4 Thumbnail buttons: leading to chapters 1-4 of the film
- 2 navigation buttons: Home, Next

Screen 3: Scene Page B
- Same Background Image as Screen 1
- 4 Thumbnail buttons: leading to chapters 5-8 of the film
- 3 navigation buttons: Home, Next, Previous

Screen 4: Scene Page C
- Same Background Image as Screen 1
- 4 Thumbnail buttons: leading to chapters 9-12 of the film
- 3 navigation buttons: Home, Next, Previous

Screen 5: Scene Page D
- Same Background Image as Screen 1
- 2 Thumbnail buttons: leading to chapters 13-14 of the film
- 2 navigation buttons: Home, Previous

That's it. Very simple. Is this possible in TAW5?

SIDE NOTE: Some Terminology Questions
If you know this or can point me to a good explanation, I would really appreciate it.

I found some of the menu terminology a little confusing. I started reading the Help file for this, but it was not clear. I wish it provided plain English definitions of each term with examples. Perhaps I just missed it in my quick read-through.

1. Functional difference between Title Page, Top Menu, Track Menu
2. Difference between Track and Chapter
3. Difference between a "unique page" and a "separate page" for the audio and subtitle selectors

dp  2015-02-11 23:18:08 ( ID:hrkfsnutyvh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The minimum menu structure is NONE - it plays the video when inserted.

What you want sounds like a typical structure that can be built (although I've not had to work with subtitles)

One thing about AW, it works a bit differently from other authoring software I've used in that you select the menu structure and then delete (or disable) the parts you do not intend to use rather than add the things you want to include.

tkrave  2015-02-19 13:58:12 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Legolad,
The structure you want to do is mostly possible if you only have one track. The only thing that would be slightly different is the subtitle buttons. TAW5 makes a separate menu page for subtitles (and audio streams), so instead of having the buttons on the top menu, you'd instead have a "Subtitles" button that goes to a subtitles page where you can then select your subtitles. And yes, you can make English the default subtitle stream.

For your situation, I'd select the Track Menu Only option and include a Title page. The title page will act as your Top Menu and it has buttons to play the track, go to the chapters, and go to the subtitles page.

Title page - Kind of a simpler top menu with buttons for playing all tracks, go to chapters, etc. I don't use it much, but if you only have one track, it could make for a better top menu as in your situation.
Top Menu - The main menu; this is a pretty universal term used by everyone.
Track menu - Basically the chapter menu; also has the subtitle/audio button(s) for that particular track.

Question - Remote Menu Button No.69248
Mike  2015-01-03 04:45:28 ( ID:vnyxahokv2h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm building a DVD with 2 tracks. A first play track and track 1. Track 1 has three menus with a total of 15 chapters. My question is can a user return back to the previous menu they were just on by pressing the menu button on their remote control? It always defaults back to Menu 1. Not good. Thanks.

Mike  2015-01-03 07:45:56 ( ID:vnyxahokv2h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I figured it out. During the menu creation wizard you have to check >When playing a DVD, you can go back to the menu by pressing the "menu" button on your DVD remote. Checking this option will make the DVD player go to the menu associated with the current title/chapter you were viewing.
I thought I checked it but I guess not.

Question - CUDA support wont go above 3% No.69059
Batmeat  2014-12-31 01:40:55 ( ID:8cbbdd93iaf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been having problems since the first version of Author Works 5 was released. I've kept the version current will all subsequent releases. The problem is this. After enabling CUDA support, encoding will use my CPU=100% and CUDA=3.0%

Re-installing the software does nothing. I can't seem to figure out why my video card isn't being utilized. I've tried changing drivers with no luck. Any ideas?

Batmeat  2014-12-31 04:55:13 ( ID:8cbbdd93iaf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I forgot to add that I've enabled the CUDA encoding with Mpeg1,2,4 setting. Doesn't do anything

Kuno  2015-03-23 02:46:19 ( ID:w8pbgv0jjgf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

CUDA support has been removed from drivers since 340.52. If you want CUDA you need to use the older drivers.

Persen  2015-06-25 11:30:26 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

False. They have reinstated CUDA in their drivers. It comes with 353.30

Hello
I would like to ask if there is an option just to encode the edited video without making DVD.I know is a authoring software but i need to encode into MPEG-2 a movie because i like this encoder.I also have video mastering works but not sure if the quality of the MPEG-2 will be same. Are they using same encoding engine?
Thanks

tkrave  2015-01-07 12:59:16 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No, there isn't an option to just encode as a regular MPEG-2 video. However, most video players can play the outputted DVD files without you having to burn it to DVD.

Quality of Video Mastering Works should be the same for MPEG-2, so you can just use that.

RonnieJP  2015-03-10 09:47:51 ( ID:aitjvxtmffr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can use VOB2MPG (or VOB2MPG Pro) to extract from the VIDEO_TS folder you created to output a single MPG file. DVDVob2Mpg is another free program, but with less features. Both will create an MPG file from your VOB files without any encoding or effecting quality. They will extract a full DVD folder in less than a minute.
