Question - Meu Setup for Specific Playback No.67274
Dwight Steven-Boniecki  2013-01-31 23:01:50 ( ID:oig2srt.zuh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to setup a disc which has one film with 3 seperate audio tracks. I also need to have 3 different videos for the start of the film to accomodate the 3 different narrators' credits. In the menu I need to be able to select 1 of the 3 start sequences which will then merge with the main film which has the three audio tracks embedded (to mimimize disc usage the main film is identical only with the three audio tracks differing).

So it would be like this on the main menu:
Audio/film 1 (using one audio track) -> Main film Body playing track 1 of the 3 emdedded tracks.
Audio/film 2 (using one audio track) -> Main film Body playing track 2 of the 3 embedded tracks.
Audio/film 3 (using one audio track) -> Main film Body playing track 3 of the 3 emdedded tracks.

How can I set this up so that the 3 seperate openers merge seamlessly with the main film. Is it possible to create a playlist seuence that will do this?

Regards
Dwight

Question - Simple MPEG2 DVD outputs wants to re-encode No.67270
smithb  2013-01-31 11:42:09 ( ID:e4z87c.ohzw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First time using TAW5 but used Author 3 quite a bit.

Taking same files I edited using MPEG Editor 3 and authored with Author 3 a few years back but now going from SL to DL output. Opened my old Author 3 project, it converted it for TAW5, added additional files, and everything appears fine. But when I go to output it insists on re-encoding parts of the video when it should out put lossless.

Some parts do and some parts don't. I'm not doing any HD work but just standard MPEG2 files for a DVD. There is no reason for a re-encode. Author 3 never did. Please help.

Faramith  2013-02-01 22:25:39 ( ID:xzlne.edxpl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have the same problem as you, the video files are different but from the same source DVD, when i place the 2 in 1 track it Re-Encodes the first file but the second is not re-encoded. Does TAW5 re-encodes all your files?

Persen  2013-02-03 19:55:37 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I cant speak for DVD creation, but when i create Blu-ray's out of HDTV recorded TS files, then they all get re-encoded, even though bit rates are low enough, that they easily could fit with out re-encoding them.
Only twice i have experienced no re-encoding, that was with M2TS files who had standard Dolby Digital audio.

Question - TAW5 Options button non responsive! No.67221
faramith  2013-01-21 05:29:13 ( ID:w3ryeuezrfr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im using Taw5 in Windows 7 64 bits, I have been using it for a while without problems but now the options button on the top right of the program is not responding, it simply does nothing when I press it. What can I do? I have to close the program to get a Save option cause I cant manually save from the options menu...

tkrave  2013-01-29 07:58:09 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This happened to me when using Video Mastering Works 5 on Win7 64-bit. I can't remember what worked, but closing and re-opening the program or restarting my system fixed things.

All keyboard shortcuts should still work if it happens again, so just hit ctrl+s to get the save dialog.

Faramith  2013-02-01 22:19:44 ( ID:xzlne.edxpl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks - restarting the system restored the option button.

Question - Convert PAL DVD to NTSC DVD No.67203
SaphireX  2013-01-14 04:19:37 ( ID:t3.kmu7olgl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I already have a PAL formatted DVD that has 2 subtitle formats on my hard drive of course in exact DVD file structure. I would like to use TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 to create a DVD that is NTSC compliant so that it will play on my U.S. Standard NTSC DVD Player. I also would like to keep the menus/chapters/subtitles ect the same as what are on the original. Has anyone tried this? and if so can you please provide some tips so that I don't end up with a DVD-9 mess!
Thanks

tkrave  2013-01-15 09:39:35 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can convert the actual tracks to NTSC (it will do a full re-encode) and keep subtitles/chapters but you will not be able to copy/convert the menus.

SaphireX  2013-01-15 18:13:01 ( ID:t3.kmu7olgl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you! I don't care if it re-encodes that's to be expected going from 25fps to 29.970fps...Forgive my ignorance here but I did play around in trying to do as suggested but in the simulation mode the english subtitle never displayed so I stopped and did not go any further. Can you please be a little more specific on the steps-Thanks
Saph

tkrave  2013-01-16 05:11:54 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When you import the tracks you should be able to select the subtitles to import.
Use the Source Wizard's import from a DVD option to make sure you're importing everything you want. It will show available subtitles and audio streams to import.

After that, the subtitles should be selectable in preview windows. By default, the subtitles might be off, so you may need to activate them. In the Simulation stage, click on the right-most button in the play controls to select the subtitle stream.

SaphireX  2013-01-20 07:53:14 ( ID:t3.kmu7olgl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks tkrave! there was a small button way before menus and chapters where I needed to select which subtitle track that I wanted as well as the font-size-color-placement options...However in the simulation stage the changes I made to the subs did not simulate. I guess that happens during the encode process which I will check out very soon!

Request - Channel Mode Change No.67177
bulletwar  2013-01-05 05:38:49 ( ID:dm3xdnoqnpo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Why is the "Channel Mode Change" not working with Dolby Audio.

This would be a very nice feature. Or had it worked already in an older version?

Thanks.

tkrave  2013-01-05 06:36:31 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you explain where you are seeing this option?

bulletwar  2013-01-05 20:36:22 ( ID:dm3xdnoqnpo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In "Clip Properties" select on the Audiostream selector at your right "Audio properties".

Channel Mode Change just works for AAC.

tkrave  2013-01-08 05:40:22 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The help file implies that it is only for AAC audio. I don't know why it's not possible for Dolby audio.
I don't think it actually changes the channel mode, but rather the header information regarding the audio channels. The help file says its for when there might be multiple channel modes within the audio stream and the wrong mode is selected by default, or in cases where the header info is wrong.

If you want to actually change the channel mode for the entire track, you can go to the track settings and select to re-encode the audio as 5.1, 2 ch, etc.

bulletwar  2013-01-13 04:35:49 ( ID:jpbo9r8xfvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think to, that the channel mode change will only change the header of the audio file, but when let re-encode TAW5 to 5.1 in track settings like you said, it will output an 5.1 file with only 2 channels working (left and right)
With this act of re-encoding the 4 other audio channels within the Dolby file will be erased.

Like already told, the problem persists only when the Dolby audio file begins with Dolby 2.0 and changes within the file itself.

The possibility to change the channel mode for Dolby files is in my eyes the only possibility that allows it to me that I can use TAW5 in the future.

But will there be an change in this case. I hope so.

Question - Audio to menu causes crash No.67160
zvit  2013-01-02 21:36:47 ( ID:eftdyvloxzf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying the TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 (30 day trial) and it works great with M2TS files but there is one major problem that I thought maybe someone can tell me why it happens...

There are some things that when done, will crash the software. Some of the things are: 1, when adding audio BG to a menu, 2. while adding chapters (sometimes).

Also, sometimes, whhile adding chapters, it will give an error that it "has no space"... which is weird because what do chapters have to do with space. I only used about 10 chapters.

Persen  2013-01-05 11:44:58 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Chapters having no space, means that in the menu picture it self are overlapping each other.
In the bottom of the screen, try to choose the button with the two squares overlapping each other. When chapters are overlapping in the menu picture, they will be marked with red. All you then have to do is to move them to another place where you want them in the menu screen, so they don't overlap each other.

The other preoblems with crashing, might be that your computer does not live up to the specfifications that is required to use Authoring Works 5. Have you read the specifcations before trying to use it ? http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/taw5_spec.html

Question - Audio quit working in the chapter edit screen No.67126
batmeat  2012-12-20 00:27:17 ( ID:hkqnrbmslir )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I got my issues worked out getting TAW5 to recognize audio streams correctly by converting them to ac3. However, Now when I edit clips and chapters there is no audio. The same holds true when clicking simulation. The videos play, but no audio can be heard. It seems that the only audio I can hear is when I use a video that has stereo sound. what gives? I must say, TAW5 is turning out to be a big disappointment.

Question - Smart Render Requirements and Troubleshooting No.67119
Schematic  2012-12-18 13:42:54 ( ID:9c1jnepckeo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I extract an mpeg2 m2ts file from a home generated Bluray Disc, TAW5 wants to rerender it. Is there a way to determine why it won't smart-render the file? The file is generated by ProShow Gold.
Please help...I've pulled out most of my hair....

Rick0725  2012-12-26 00:46:05 ( ID:31ngptjmdem )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

give us the video properties. GOP structure over 30 along with mbaff nonmbaff coding causes issues in regards to smart rendering in tmpgenc software. I have the same issue with files outputted by our HDPVR.

Question - No audio when importing MKV files No.67116
batmeat  2012-12-18 06:14:25 ( ID:hkqnrbmslir )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I import MKV files, there is no audio when I go to edit them. why doesn't the audio from the file import into a project?

tkrave  2012-12-18 08:11:37 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It may be an audio format that is unsupported or you may not have the right codec for it. Use a program like MediaInfo to find out what format your audio stream is in.

batmeat  2012-12-18 10:39:04 ( ID:hkqnrbmslir )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's in dts which is supported. Whats odd is I have a bunch of vids I've put together in ac3, dolby digital, stereo, mono, and with mkv files none of the formats are even recognized.

Persen  2012-12-18 22:34:14 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DTS is not native supported by TAW5, you have to tweak a little to get the support by installing FFDSHOW and Haali Media Splitter and then first make some changes in FFDSHOW's audio settings:

TrueHD to libavcodec (to get Dolby True HD support, explanation why will follow)
DTS to libdts
Uncompressed to all supported

After that you have to tweak TAW5 to use FFDSHOW and Haali by going to TAW5's input plug-ins:
Options => Preferences => Input/output format list => File input plug-in.
Here you must remove every marker, but not the one at DirectShow file reader.

When this is done, DTS and Dolby True HD support in TAW5 has been established.

Reggarding Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master:
People have figured out how to put the HD audio from Blu-ray's in to MKV files. Lately, i have come across several MKV's with both Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master audio in them.
The adjustment explained above for FFDSHOW will give you the support for Dolby True HD.
DTS HD-Master is not supported though. That audio type you will not be able to open in TAW5, because FFDSHOW does not deliver support for it. It only delivers support for standard DTS, the one who is also used on DVD's.

Batmeat  2012-12-19 10:43:57 ( ID:hkqnrbmslir )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've completed all that and was able to get the software to recognize the audio. However, it doesn't recognize it correctly. It recognizes DTS as 2 Chanel stereo. Mediainfo and tsmuxer specify the audio as DTS

thun77  2012-12-20 04:39:02 ( ID:tzkiqcq/bqj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

>I've completed all that and was able to get the software to recognize the audio. However, it doesn't recognize it correctly. It recognizes DTS as 2 Chanel stereo. Mediainfo and tsmuxer specify the audio as DTS

You need to disable mixer in the FFDSHOW filter, then it will show as 5,1

batmeat  2012-12-20 18:24:40 ( ID:hkqnrbmslir )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

that worked.. Thanks. Now I just got to figure out why there is no audio when I use the simulation or chapter edit features.

Question - Incompatible format message playing TAW 5 BR disc No.67101
Subliminal  2012-12-13 12:43:03 ( ID:pacihunl83k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Evaluating TAW 5 using trial version. Load 3 TS files form a Canon HFG10 camcorder. Create top menu on track page and a pop-up menu. Create BDMV output. TAW appropriately re-encodes a few pieces to put the watermark in but otherwise shows "lossless". Burn disc. Put in Panasonic BR player and it stops during reading saying "incompatible format".

Any ideas what may be wrong? Ths player plays anything from TS Muxer and Total Media Extreme. when it burps it seldom gives an error message.

TIA for any ideas.

Matt

All set, bad burn speed or TAW burner probs. burned project with Imgburn at 6x all is well.

My BD recorder is old (GGW-H20L), but once I step TAW5 burn well for PC, but my BD-Player did not read it, I saw that the recording was minimally smaller, TAW4-5 perform shorter recording (Lead -in and lead-out) for DVD and BD.
Currently recording with Nero UDF BD-R-ISO 2.5 (physical partition), and update my firmware on the recorder to the YL07 version (11th May, 2011). although it is not very compatible with LTH disc or cheap versions. works with BD-R DL (check their website MYCE Club)
