Free talk - TAW5 BBS - How to optimize workflow for DVD and BD authoring No.67853
benoitm  2013-07-29 23:32:30 ( ID:4rqojs7mk8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a recommended workflow to avoid unnecessary work when authoring both a DVD and a BD, that should have the same menu layout/structure, and the same source files (but with different encoding produced by TVMW5).

tkrave  2013-07-30 09:38:59 ( ID:.yfti6punfa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would make the BD version first (better to scale down than to scale up), then try using the "Open with conversion" option in the Start Window. This will allow you to convert the project into another output format, like DVD-Video.

This is a relatively new option they added and I've never actually used it before, but it might work well.

benoitm  2013-07-30 21:49:01 ( ID:rjxf9pv5fww )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Good idea !
Unfortunately I had to produce the DVD version first due to pressure from the client :)
Will try to up-convert to BD anyway.
There aren't so many fancy graphics so the upconversion should be painless....

benoitm  2013-08-02 01:39:59 ( ID:uojxteyu4hj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK, now how do I replace the clips (currently SD MPEG2) with new ones (MP4 1080i) of exactly the same duration, while keeping all chapter marks ?

tkrave  2013-08-02 02:01:39 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use the "Export keyframe list" option in the Cut & Chapter Edit window. Then import the list for your HD versions.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Not enough storage is available to complete this operation (error code 0x8007000e) No.67847
maddabbo  2013-07-28 00:47:36 ( ID:zi/nasxjafn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I cannot encode to a large external drive with 2100gb free.
I get this error. The drive is USB3.0 I've connected it both usb 2.0 and usb 3.0 see if either would work.

I'm trying to encode 32000 tifs into an avi for mastering at 1080P.
I'm also making proxy wmv and mp4 files at 854x480 res @ 4Mbit. They don't work either. All paths are set to this drive in preferences. There is not enough space on my internal drive. Based on Microsoft's info on the error it looks like a bug? Any ideas how to solve? I'm guessing it has to do with the large number of stills. I've tried both CUDA and intel encoding.

Not enough storage is available to complete this operation (error code 0x8007000e)

Persen  2013-07-30 04:47:31 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What file system are you using on that external drive, FAT32 or NTFS ?
If your drive is FAT32, then it is equal for not having enough storage, because FAT32 is limited to just about 4GB in file size.
The drive has to be formated to NTFS if you want to go above 4GB in file sizes.

Rob Stow  2016-06-01 02:44:47 ( ID:pukzkxfjbil )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Note: I have Video Mastering Works 5 running on Win7 x64

All of my drives are NTFS and contain many files well over 4GB yet in the last few days I am suddenly seeing this error message also.

As well, usually I can use the program to edit videos larger than 9 GB but often I get this error message when dealing with files well under 4 GB.

Lately I am trying to re-encode a bunch of 1080p MP4 videos to 720p - no editting involved - and I am often getting this error 1% or 2% into the encoding. When I watch the process in Task Manager I can see the encoding process's RAM usage at around 300 MB of RAM and then suddenly spike to 3.5 GB. With videos that successfully encode - even 8 GB ones - the RAM usage stays around 300 MB for the whole encoding process.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - TMPGEnc vmw 5 keeps splitting files of 3 & 4 gb No.67846
goingape  2013-07-27 06:20:06 ( ID:y1rnj2elvaj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi

TMPGEnc vmw 5 keeps splitting files of 3 & 4 gb into 2 files

i tried to encode a 4 gb mkv file into a divx avi format

and it does a great job but its splits the output file in 2 files

which i then have put together again

i look in the option if there is a way to switch this off but i couldnt find anything

why does TMPGEnc vmw 5 do this and is there a way to stop this from happening

tkrave  2013-07-30 09:30:30 ( ID:.yfti6punfa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is a limitation of the AVI format which limits files sizes to 2GB or less. Choose a different format or lower your bitrate.

Question - TMVS - Converting WTV files for use with PS3 media Server No.67845
BROB  2013-07-27 03:03:46 ( ID:kzh9djcvb12 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm a relatively inexperienced user trying to convert WTV files that are not copy protected to a format that my PS3 media server can pass to my PS3 where it can be understood and played on my TV. I have a file I've attempted to convert and after I drop the file onto the source wizard (I've already selected PS3 as my target), make sure it is selected,I arrive at the MPEG-2 conversion settings. The program selects a conversion folder and offers a FINISH button. Pressing FINISH causes an error message to appear: "An error occurred cancelling the title copy to the HDD. Unspecified error: Code OX80004005"
I'm stuck here. Any advice?

Question - TVMW5 BBS - ActiveMovie Window system error No.67840
Douglas Bruce  Home )  2013-07-22 14:34:42 ( ID:zofej3wfzq6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Recently I have been getting this error message when importing .mov files into VMW5

ActiveMovie Window: TMPGEncVMW5.exe - System Error
The Program can't start because ad2h264dec.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the programme to fix this problem

The error appears with a loud "Pling" sound. Pressing Ok gets another pling and the second time it disappears - but the file is them imported as usual.
In other words, I can import the files but I get this double error message when doing so.
Any ideas?
I have no recollection of ever installing anything called ActiveMovie
Regards
Douglas

tkrave  2013-07-25 08:58:51 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ActiveMovie is DirectShow (made by Microsoft) which basically allows Windows Media Player to play videos. The error may have to do with a codec or something.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - AVI Output No.67828
peterhun  2013-07-20 18:15:09 ( ID:gichnmtwl32 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I mostly work with VirtualDubMod but this time it doesn't give a good result due to frame conversion, so I am using TMPGEnc VMW 5 (v5.0.6.38).

My source video is NTSC film and TMPGEnc gives me a satisfactory conversion to avi when using the XVID mpeg4 codec. But the resultant file is AVI 1.0 and I want it in AVI 2 OpenDML.

If I select the DIVX 6.9.2 codec this does give me an AVI 2 OpenDML file but with a Packed Bitstream that I don't want.

I prefer to use the XVID codec option as I make use of Zone Weighting throughout the video. How can I save it in AVI 2 OpenDML format, I can't see where that option is if it exists.

George  2013-07-21 00:20:59 ( ID:eziith4xip. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using the latest version, and I see options for AVI 1.0/2.0 in the DivX file output (not AVI output). If you install ffdshow, you should be able to select it in AVI output, and make your choices there although ffdshow has removed Xvid encoding from its options. Have you installed the Xvid or DivX codec in your system separately? If so, you might see them in AVI output and make selections there.

George  2013-07-21 00:22:23 ( ID:eziith4xip. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Or maybe, you could locate an old, or custom ffdshow version that includes Xvid. Don't ask me where.

Peterhun  2013-07-21 08:33:17 ( ID:gichnmtwl32 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tks George. I have been using VDMod for years with all the codecs installed, so it appears that TMPG XVID doesn't have the AVI2 in its makeup.

DIVX does but it outputs in a Packed Bitstream (FF search doesn't work too well). If I unpack with AVIdemux then have sync issues.

I'll use TMPG with XVID option then run the file through VDMod in Direct Stream copy mode selecting AVI2 that way, (but I get a file that is 200Mb larger with the same Qf as if I used VDMod from scratch - but I can't because of the frame conversion problems with this video).

Shame, 'coz it's a good program otherwise.

Bug report - TMSR4 - Want to support "Delay relative to video" inherited from original file. No.67826
firelabi  2013-07-19 11:05:00 ( ID:dwxygjryyyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use TMSR4 (4.1.2.57) since last month. I like "Commercial Candidates Detector" for finding easy where CMs exist in ts file.

But after smart rendering, the m2ts files outputted via TMSR4 has not "Delay relative to video" tag. So playback the file, I feel bad because video and audio are no longer synchronized.

Example (data via MediaInfo 0.7.64)

[Original file]
Audio
ID : 784 (0x310)
Menu ID : 296 (0x128)
Format : AAC
Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : LC
Muxing mode : ADTS
Codec ID : 15
Duration : 30mn 14s
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 192 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Compression mode : Lossy
*Delay relative to video : -149ms
Stream size : 41.5 MiB (7%)

[Outputted file]
Audio
ID : 4353 (0x1101)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : AAC
Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : LC
Muxing mode : ADTS
Codec ID : 15
Duration : 23mn 44s
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 192 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 32.6 MiB (9%)

I found a solution to output as mkv. This is not smart rendering for Audio, but needs only a little more time.

I want to support "Delay relative to video".

Question - TAW4 - Chapter Thumbnails 1 frame off No.67820
goodter  2013-07-18 21:20:52 ( ID:jwbvd6mycon )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a DVD with many chapters set at scene changes, all of which have thumbnails. When I preview the project, the chapter thumbs are right where I set them; but when I output the DVD folder, many thumbnails are set 1 frame too soon. This means those thumbnails miss the scene changes.

My workaround has been to output the Keyframe List, import it into a spreadsheet, add 1 to all the values, and re-import the Keyframe List to redo the chapters so they're all set one frame later. Kind of a ridiculous process, but I've had to deal with this bug across several versions of AW4. Are there any settings that can correct this bug?

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Audio/Video filters No.67819
Alpha1  2013-07-18 13:01:49 ( ID:ymwunosy5s. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to have the Audio and Video filters always available on the filter list. As it is, I have to install them on the filter list for each clip. When you have a lot of clips this is a REAL pain. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any help!

tkrave  2013-07-19 02:42:52 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can create a filter template that contains all of the filters you want.
Then, in the preferences, you can set the default filter template to load when you start the program.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Best format for HD video but smaller file size? No.67818
Bob  2013-07-18 07:49:59 ( ID:9b2wp5wodyh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a 6 minute HD (1920x1080) MOV movie file that I want to replace the original audio with my own soundtrack (a WAV) and then post this video to Facebook. The original MOV file is 1.5 GB and I would like to create a file that is significantly smaller in size than that so it will not take forever to upload via my DSL line but still maintain as much of the original quality as possible.

This is my first adventure into outputting HD content...so far, all I've done is DVD MPEG-2.

What format and options would you recommend for this? Thanks!

tkrave  2013-07-19 02:45:01 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

MPEG-4 AVC H.264 is the format most people are using now for HD video. You can set the video bitrate to roughly half that of an MPEG-2 video and achieve similar detail levels.

Bob  2013-07-19 05:44:35 ( ID:u96a1mykrxo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks tkrave. As you can see below, the original video is also MPEG-4 AVC bit rate according to MediaInfo and the bit rate is 33.2 Mbps. Should I use that same value when I re-encode it with the new audio, or can I use a lower value without significant quality loss? Mind you, the original video was taken at a concert to the lighting is not all that great, so it's hardly a professional looking video clip.

Correction:

>As you can see below, the original video is also MPEG-4 AVC and the bit rate is 33.2 Mbps.

tkrave  2013-07-19 08:26:37 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To be safe you can use the same bitrate. However, if you want to cut down on the file size, you can try a lower bitrate.

Your camera may only shoot at a constant bitrate so there may be excess data in relation to what is on screen.
First, I would suggest encoding with a variable bitrate (VBR). This means the bitrate will change depending on the level of detail needed for a particular frame. If there is a 2-pass option, you should use it.

You can then set the maximum bitrate to a lower bitrate than the source file.
I'd suggest doing some tests if you're not sure about how low you should go.
Isolate a short clip (don't waste time re-encoding the whole video) that includes fast action (quick camera pans/fast-moving objects) and still shots. Then test out various bitrates on it. You can try going low first (11Mbps or so) to see how drastic the difference is. Depending on how that looks, you can then go lower or higher.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Keeps on crashing !!! No.67804
BlizzardUK  2013-07-12 05:07:31 ( ID:8l//1xjzpnf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am getting so frustrated, I can't encode some files as it keeps crashing on me, everything I try comes up with a similar error, but the numbers often change. I am trying to encode some XDVDs. This is the message I get........

The output process terminated abnormally (8)
Exception Code : 0xc0000005 (this sometimes changes)
Faulting Address : 0x63d3fb3C (this sometimes changes)
Faulting Module : MovieMPEG.vme (Base address 0x63960000)(this sometimes changes)

Any ideas ? It is really annoying. I have tried different source files, and changes source and output drives, but it still crashes, usually within the first 25% of the files. I have also tried with and without batch queue usage.

Thanks.

For such issues, you should contact support directly. Could it be a RAM issue? Do you have enough?

BlizzardUK  2013-07-15 11:14:00 ( ID:8l//1xjzpnf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks. I have a feeling it may be a over heating issue, it seems to happen during the day and evening but works after midnight approx, we are going through a heatwave here (for UK standards anyway) and my PC is kept in a summer house which gets up to 34 degrees. What I have found is that if the temp of my CPU is under 72 degrees then it is okay, as soon as it goes above that for longer than a few minutes the encode fails. My PC seems to run okay though and doesn't reset or hang. This happens with Authoring Works, Mastering Works, and Handbrake.

I can only presume it is this, as it doesn't make any other sense that it works with the temp in the 60's but not the 70's. I thought 70's would be fine though, but perhaps the software has an inbuilt temp gauge that cuts out when it gets to 73 degrees or above.

I am going to try and find a way to reduce my overclock that was done for me.
