Question - TAW4 - Clip ending No.67376
D.Mino  2013-02-27 03:28:29 ( ID:p9klscaqlfr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I use TMPGencAuthoringWorks 4
I have built a menu with 4 button. Each button links a page which contains from 3 to 6 clips. When I push a button, correctly goes to the page. Than I click the clip thumbnail and the clips starts. This is OK. The trouble is that at the end of the clips starts the next clip of the page, instead of stopping and showing again the page with the clips and I don't know where I can set the "no transition".

Thanks in advance

Mino

tkrave  2013-03-05 05:24:00 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since your clips are all in the same track, they will play one after the other as if the entire track was one movie. You will need to put each clip in a separate track if you want to go back to the menu after playback ends.

In TAW5, there is an option to go back to the menu after a chapter ends, but this feature is not in TAW4.

D.Mino  2013-03-15 05:40:00 ( ID:vcoityoqzqk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for you answer but I have another question.

As I have explained before I have a main menu with some button that
links to some submenus. ( Simply each button in the main menu
show an year and each submenu contains all clips of that year ).

Every submenus have 2, 3, 4, or 5 clips that can be started with a button.
I cannot understand where I can set a different number of button for each submenus.

For example : year 1984 contain 1 clip, 1985 contain 5 clip, 1986 contains 5 clip.
When I choose the menu with 4 button the program inserts 4 + 4 + 3 button but
this is not what i like since I want to insert a button for each clip in different submenu.
Sorry, for my long question and for my poor english.
I hope I was clear enough

Mino

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Encoded Video stops while playing No.67375
Svaartberg  2013-02-26 17:39:06 ( ID:/jz3z7cwzwh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey Guys,

I´ve got a bad problem with my encoded videos from TMPEG.
When I play this video with VLC the video stops at a time of 40 seconds.
If i set an other time to play this video (maybe one an a half minute) it runs normally till end.

There is a time between this two times where I can´t play this video. If I switch between this time VLC will start the video again from 00:00.

That problem often occurs.
What causes that?
What can I do so that does not occurs again?

Your Svaartberg

Request - TME1 - How to Diagnose DVD Burner Problems No.67373

How to Diagnose DVD Burner Problems

DVD burning allows users to store data, create home movies and share discs like never before. They hold more then triple the amount of a CD disc and have only expanded in use since their introduction. The DVD may be useless to you, though, if you have DVD burning problems, and the whole stack of blank DVDs you own could become nothing but coasters if you do not troubleshoot the problem.

Instructions

1

Make sure you are using a DVD burner. Some computers are only equipped with CD-RW burner or a DVD-Rom drive, so DVD discs will not be able play in them at all. DVD-Rom drives only read DVDs--they do not write them.
2

Check to see if your drive is compatible with the blank DVD discs that you are using. DVD discs are either DVD- or DVD+ and this could be a huge problem when you are trying to load the DVD. The front of your drive has a DVD+RW, a DVD-RW or a DVD+-RW symbol on it that represents what discs are accepted.
3

Select the proper drive when burning the DVD. DVD-burning software should automatically select the right burner, but in some cases it might select another disc drive on the computer or the hard drive itself.
4

Check to see if the DVD disc you are burning is blank. Sometimes burned discs may become mixed up with blank discs and you may have inserted the wrong one into your drive. The best way to avoid this is by labeling all of your DVDs when you have completed the burning process.
5

Change the speed of the project. Some DVDs may mess up if you are burning them too fast; a slower burn rate will give you better results and run more compatibly with multiple DVD drives.
6

Update the firmware on your DVD burner. Outdated firmware could cause your burner to malfunction. Find the type of DVD drive by going to the "Devices" section in the "Control Panel," and then search for the newest firmware on the manufacturer's official website.
7

Try multiple discs. So many blank DVD discs are processed at factories that there is a chance that you may come across a dud or two. If the process fails the first time, try another disc, and if it does not work then try to eliminate other potential problems one by one.

Question - TE40 - it cuts movies in two No.67372

Hi guys. Can anybody tell me why the TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress converter cuts the movies in two if they are long? Can this be avoided?

tkrave  2013-02-26 04:57:20 ( ID:/nw.rgkce7n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What is your output format? AVI? AVI and older versions of DivX have a file size limit of 4 GB, so if it exceeds that, then it might be splitting it at the 4 GB mark.

mxxx_rooster  2013-08-04 07:49:29 ( ID:ijvwdyhmxs6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I haven't had the problem although a lot of these software proggys have a setting making each portion the size of a specific madia. In other words, if the setting is DVD (MPEG2) there may be a 4.7 gig limit. An mpeg1 (VCD) may have a typical CD limit of 640 meg... etc...

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Crash Loading MP4 C++ Runtime Error No.67361
bwhite  2013-02-23 15:45:28 ( ID:murm7ka1ouj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have recently started getting this error when I try loading newer MP4 files:

MS Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program:...
File: .\mkvparserstreamvideo.cpp
Line: 417

Expression: stop_ns > start_ns

I have tried reinstalling the runtime libraries and several codecs. The files load and play fine in bsplayer.

I am on version 5.3.1.85

Question - TAW5 BBS - MPEG-2 TS Files not read by TAW5 No.67343
Charlie  2013-02-21 20:19:02 ( ID:11phihp5jfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi
I have tried to import an MPEG-2 TS video file recorded using the Technomate TM-5402 using the TAW5 Trial version, and it failed to recognise it.I have installed the KLite Codec pack full version, and it still didn't work. The same file could be opened and played using the Media Player Classic MPC-HC with no problem at all.Anyway to work round it.Thanks!

Persen  2013-02-21 21:21:34 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

K-Lite will never give you the support. That codec pack is actually a peace of garbage.
Start by uninstalling that entire codec pack and every codec it added to your system and then reboot your computer, before continuing with the following or else it won't work at all!

Download FFDSHOW
http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/
Depending on your system, 32 or 64 bit, choose the fitting version for your Windows version.
Dont worry aboyt that name "tryout", it is 100% freeware.

Download Haali Media Splitter aka Matroskasplitter, also freeware.
http://haali.su/mkv/

After having installed both softwares as they are preset, you need to tweak FFDSHOW.

Open the Video configuration tool and make sure that these settings looks like this:
H.264/AVC: libavcodec
VC-1: wmv9
Raw video: All supported

Now open the Audio decoder tool and change settings to this, it will help you with future projects:
TrueHD: libavcodec
DTS: libdts
Uncompressed: all supported

Now you have to configure TAW5 to use the two installed tools instead:
Options => Preferences => Input/outout format list => File input plug-in
Here remove every marker, except for the one at DirectShow file reader

Now when opening a video file, choose All files and then to Import 'as is'
FFDSHOW and Haali jumps in to action and deals with the opening of the video file in TAW5 correctly.

Charlie  2013-02-21 22:37:23 ( ID:11phihp5jfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for your help.I have tried everything you listed and it still would not open the file.Is there anyway to tell whether TAW5 actually triggers off ffdshow when it runs?

Persen  2013-02-22 20:53:29 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You only mentioned FFDSHOW in your message, you did remember to install Haali also ?
Under normal circumstances it should work when both are installed. The only thing i can think of what might not make it work, is when a recording is copy protected. Then every video editor will refuse to open such files.
More and more PVR's used for DVB-S and S2 are equipted with CI+ copy protection, who scrambles the video files, so that only the equipment who recorded the files can open them for playback.

Persen  2013-02-22 20:59:57 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Forgot to tell how to see when both FFDSHOW and Haali are running :-)
When both are running, you can see it in the toolbar in the bottom of your computer screen

Charlie  2013-02-23 04:31:03 ( ID:gzkrdhe8td2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I installed both.TMPGENC would open any video file apart from the ones I recorded. It keeps coming up with this error :"could not find any valid video titles in the ts file".An ffdshow video icon would appear at the bottom right of the screen,no audio icon, when it works. So it means TMPGENC does interact with ffdshow.Never mind I might have to convert them to a different format first,if I can't use it directly. Thanks for all your help anyway!

Charlie  2013-02-24 20:34:17 ( ID:aez6u4uoq6h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have found a software that would open these ts files from Technomate and convert them into DVD with brilliant quality. It is called Aiseesoft DVD Software Toolkit Platinum.I still wonder why Tmpgenc can not open these files..

Question - TVMW5 BBS - ALternate audio track No.67341
gspanos  2013-02-20 21:49:30 ( ID:bsa4l56wzbn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just purchased MW 5. Some of my work involves sound upgrading audience-shot live music concerts. I've been using Apple iMovie/iDVD for the editing/authoring and would like to use MW 5/AW 5 if possible. Here's the process I use with iMovie:

1. Import the video, which typically has cuts and shaky or obstructed parts and inferior sound.
2. Import alternate superior audio.
3. Line up the alternate audio and the video in the timeline.
4. Fill missing parts of the video with stills or movie clips while maintaining a/v sync in the timeline.
5. Exporting to iDVD for the authoring.

I see that MW 5 has a timeline setting, but don't see how I can use a similar process to sound upgrade the audio. If anyone has experience with this, I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks.

Bob A  2013-02-22 17:47:56 ( ID:igdnm1i4nxa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Put the video in the track in timeline mode. Add a track. Drag the audio file with good sound in the new track. Align the video track and the audio track. Expand the video track to show the 'V' and 'A' buttons. Press the 'A' button to mute the audio. Encode.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I've completely failed to find anything that can do this so far.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Cannot set 16:9 SD format with QuickTime(Avid) codecs No.67320
benoitm  2013-02-15 00:25:22 ( ID:4rqojs7mk8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I haven't found a way to set the 16:9 aspect ratio when outputting a 720x576 PAL anamorphic project to Avid SD codecs, e.g. outputting to Quicktime / Avid DV codec or Quicktime / Avid JPEG 2000 codec.
The result is that no matter what I do the video comes out as *cropped* to 4:3, instead of horizontally "squeezed" (anamorphic 16:9).
Important note: the source video is edited in timeline mode and has a (variable) resize filter applied to it. (the goal is to do pan & zoom a SD 16:9 frame inside a HD clip)

benoitm  2013-02-16 03:53:37 ( ID:4rqojs7mk8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Unlike in Normal Mode, in Timeline mode the "keep aspect ratio" does not allow to work around this problem: no matter what I choose, it is impossible to get an anamorphic 720*576 image (at least with the Quicktime formats) - please help !

benoitm  2013-02-16 07:10:09 ( ID:4rqojs7mk8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

experimenting a bit more, it looks like none of the AVI or QuickTime codecs will allow anamorphic 16:9 SD video: for those codecs where a 4:3 / 16:9 option is selectable, the net result is identical.
How can I output 16:9 anamorphic video using QuickTime or AVI ????

Persen  2013-02-19 09:31:24 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Once you have chosen your output format, then you come to the page with Video, Audio, GOP and Other choises.
In Video, change setting at Aspect ratio to: Display 16:9
Then the image will be forced to be in 16:9

benoitm  2013-02-22 02:35:34 ( ID:4rqojs7mk8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As I explained in my previous message, that does NOT work.

(note: problem exists only in Timeline mode)

tkrave  2013-02-23 04:12:15 ( ID:/nw.rgkce7n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It may have to do with your timeline setting. Click on the timeline setting button and choose the proper video aspect ratio, dimensions, etc. and try it again.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Is CUDA a "Joke" for Better Quality Image? No.67319
deVries  2013-02-14 18:22:39 ( ID:fd/oirj8kyc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I bought-in to the NVIDIA craze/hype about CUDA a few years ago & bought a 285 card thinking in no-time I would be encoding a top speed. Well, I never saw much if any improvement except maybe in some filters, but I never compared anything side by side...

Has anyone done some serious testing to find-out where CUDA really shines in which filters???

From my recent reading about CUDA 2/2013 my impression is no video encoders are producing top quality image output using CUDA. Maybe some speed is gained, but the image quality is poor vs CPU encoding...

Sooo, what have you learned about CUDA? What filters really "shine" using CUDA for both higher quality video image & speed improvements.

deVries  2013-02-15 04:46:15 ( ID:fd/oirj8kyc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is just to add a little more to the previous post... Unfortunately, there is no edit feature to correct the original post, so I have to add more details with a 2nd post. Sorry for that...

From my recent reading about CUDA 2/2013 there is a serious trade-off in image quality for the limited speed gained by using CUDA. If you know of actual image quality improvements, then please post to this thread or start one about it detailing exactly how to do this.

I've yet to read where CUDA is 'improving' image quality at the high-end of HD.

I'll ask the same about filters too... does anyone know which CUDA filters equal or improve image quality over CPU vs GPU/CUDA saving time but getting a lower quality image.

I'll also mention, the CUDA SDK is up to version 5.0+ at the NVIDIA website, but I think TPMG5 is only using version 3.1 SDK CUDA as of 2/2013... anyone know otherwise?

Anyway, please report about image quality improvements using CUDA and saving encoding time. Which filters specifically... which NVIDIA card you need to do it too... will an old 285 card do just as well in quality output but 'only' be slower time wise.

I'm currently very skeptical about CUDA having read a few detailed articles of recent CUDA software reviews. That's 3-4 years now of development time without much gain, if any, in high-quality output from the reviews I read.

mathew lisett  2015-01-27 13:13:30 ( ID:emul5xj.btn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

having any gpu wont increase quality of your project but will enable a speed increase IF its up to date. your 285 is 6 years out of date and even back then only had a pultry 200+ cores. heck ive had a card like that expecting shit to shien and was gutted when it did nothing. and it only did nothing because that spec card isnt really designed to do much, especially since its now 6 years old.

Question - TAW5 BBS - Chapters on top menu No.67316
Marc44  2013-02-14 01:18:30 ( ID:ftitlaatefl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Blu-Ray with 1 track and 4 chapters
I want create one page (top menu) with 4 frames (1 by chapter) on this page in order to choose to click on frame to access to a chapter or another one.
How to do this with TAW5 and is it possible with TAW4 ?

Marc

tkrave  2013-02-23 04:15:12 ( ID:/nw.rgkce7n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When creating your menu, choose Track Menu Only. In other words, you don't need the Top Menu.
